Anyone due to start chemo in April? - Awesom April Angels

Hi everyone,
Glad to see you’re all out enjoying the sun while it lasts
Moira and Angie I got that pain in my neck and shoulders again this time. I mentioned it to my chemo nurse, who confirmed that it is probably caused by the Neulasta injection, which gives flu like symptoms. Angie I alao have cording in my arm post op and was referred for physio for it by my bc nurse. It is worth going down that route.
Lori and Debra I hope you are both feeling better now.
Xx

Hey Angels, just a quickie - sounds like we are all enjoying the sun 8) I’ve been in the garden most of the day very peaceful with all the neighbours working. Had a good read of a Maeve Binchy and a cheeky wee glass (or 2!) of Rose - LOVELY!!!
Hope you are all well

Hi everyone,
Ventured out today to a MacMillan support group, not sure I should have gone really as I have been feeling quite sickly and weak. The bone/joint aches dispersed after about 3 days. Not sure everyone will experience this, I always get the neck and shoulder pain after the neulasta injection so if you dont get that you may not get the additional aches on the Tax…dont want you worrying about it before it happens. It was do-able on paracetamol and ibubrophen but I am a wus and nearly rang for something stronger. The worst was not wanting to get out of bed on Sat and Sun. It seems to be over for now. Still have cording in left arm and today to top it all off I have a really upset stomache and the horrible mouth continues to be a pain.
Apart from that I guess I may be turning a corner so long may the sun shine so I can get outside and turn my baldie head a nicer shade of pale!!!
Here’s hoping for more good days for everyone
Love Lori x

Good to hear from you Lori, sounds like the bone pain hasn’t lasted as long as I thought but do realise everybody reacts differently. Hopefully you’re past the worst now and you’ll start to feel better. The upset tummy could well be a s/e.
take care xx

Glad to hear you’re coming through it Lori. Take it easy xxx

Hi Angels can I join you please? You all seem to know each other. Moira had large print I have been struggling to get on here for weeks.
I had my first Chemo 19th April I was in hospital for 9 days from day 9 as I had an infection so my second chemo was delayed 1 week. I have my 3rd Chemo this Friday. I have been enjoying my garden too looking the best it has in the last few years.
I have enjoyed reading all your comments some of you making me laugh. Hope this works and I can keep in touch with you all, if I can find the page again. Any tips apreciated. Lynn x

Evening ladies
Lori - sounds like a rough week but glad you are starting to feel better
Was at appt today with Radio onc - nothing I didn’t already know, just the ‘talk’ and signing the consent form. Rads due to start 4 weeks after last chemo (26 August) and will be 3 weeks plus 1 week ‘booster’ direct onto lump area -so all being well and no chemo delays, everything will be finished on 20 September   just in time for a holiday at end September 8)
hope you are all well and s/e’s minimal

Pauline xx

Pauline, thats great that you now have everything scheduled…especially your well deserved holiday at end Sept - do you know where you would like to go yet?
All, many thanks for all your posts, I have had a right giggle catching up and can relate to all especially the scoffing, shotput reflections and people saying the strangest things…especially your dentist Angie, telling you to watch out for sugary drinks…OMG is he still standing!!!
Most of you I guess are about to start on ‘T’ I hope it treats you well. I have to say I seem better quicker than I was on last ‘FEC’ the SE’s from that lasted week and a half so although the aches were not pleasant I am glad to have (fingers crossed) 2 weeks of feeling ok before next lot!!
Hope the sun is still shining on all of you…
Love Lori x

Welcome to the angels Lynn. Lots of support and advice and cheering up on bad days here!

Fec 3 day 7
hi angels,
today is my birthday, to celebrate i had 3 large glasses of COKE (and i still have teefs) and i am now scoffing a bag of jelly babies, naughty naughty. been to work, very normal, which is nice but strange, i feel like i should be ill. I have been really lucky this time.
Lori, glad youre feeling better, at what point were you when you couldnt get out of bed, i was under the impression that the s/e’s were sort of delayed in comparison to fec, do you think thts right? As in a couple of good days, then the s/e’s kick in.
Mel A - what is the physio going to do? or do they give you exersises?
Hi Lynn, welcome to the jungle, hope you will be able to find us again
Pauline - i bet youre already packed! I have my rads about the same time. seeing that light at the end of the tunnel!! I can go and visit my newborn grandaughter then. been counting down for that.
hi judy, moira, Mel, Amber, philomena, wheres kate and kim , not heard much?
so, not much interesting for me today, going to bed early to get up for work again - had to wash my hair its been so hot, its drip drying over the bath…

Hi all angels
AC cycle 4 day 8
welcome to our friendly gang Lynn, hopefully you’ll get plenty of support from everyone.
sorry I haven’t posted much I’ve been a little busy with sleeping and travelling ‘up norf’ again to sort some of my OH’s mums affairs. We are in Durham for this week dealing with solicitors, estate agents, banks and relatives! Luckily my only SE from the last of the AC cocktail has been sleepiness…and lots of it!
i am not joining the shot putt team yet but I do seem to be eating more sweet things so I’m sure it won’t be long before I’m there with the rest of you!
The sun was out here yesterday so my white head got a little colour but not enough to blend with my face so I still look odd when I look in the mirror! Hopefully we’ll get more sun tomorrow and I can add a bit more colour…but not lobster red!
Having read all your posts I think you have all got through the worst days and hopefully there’ll be some good ones this week/weekend

Happy Birthday Angie!

Hope the coke was nice!! I felt the aches kick in about 2.30am on Sat morning lasting til Monday. Hope you manage to bypassthis SE

Hi everyone
Ec cycle 3 day 2
all went well yesterday, no problem getting the cannula in this time. So far only se is feeling tired. Didn’t get out of bed until 1 this afternoon
my step sister had her op yesterday which went well but she had to stay in overnight as the anaesthetic made her ill. she is feeling much better today and I will be calling in to see her tomorrow.
my top tip for colouring your head is dove summer glow, I rub it in every other day and it blends in with my face Beautifully.
Angie - happy birthday…you really know how to party  Congratulations on your restraint with your dentist lol
Lynn - Welcome to the group, just look for us under recent posts and you will find your way back to us no problem
Lori - glad you are feeling better.
Pauline - lucky you having a more definite finish date to work towards. Where are you planning on going…somewhere hot and sunny I hope… We are hoping to get away somewhere warm November/december. Apparently euro tunnel insurance give good holiday insurancecover at reasonable prices.
Take care everyone

Happy Birthday Angie, hope you had a good blowout on the coke…perhaps even with a dash of vodka to really upset the dentist!

Happy Birthday for yesterday Angie. Three glasses of coke! You’re certainly living the dream!!!
Spending time in the garden while the weather is decent. Hope everyone is able to enjoy something along the way. xxx

hi angels, havent been on for a while as been having problems getting on to the site, been able to read posts but not been able to post.sorry some of you have been suffering so much but you all seem to be getting out the other end now.happy birthday angie im with everybody else just tell the dentist to shove it.good luck to your stepsister kim.i am on day 3 0f my last fec and fingers crossed not too bad at the moment been watching your posts lori as i have first tax and herceptin next time not looking forward to the bone aches as i have had siatica since starting chemo and already take 16 co codomal and tramadol to releive the pain.my veins are already collapsing so will have to have either central line or picc line as ihave to have 19 herceptin.welcome lyn.good luck to all you other angels have to go to sleep for a bit now love from barb xx

Hi Barb,
I hope you escape the bone pain considering what your already going through! I have 2 more Tax then I wil also be on Herceptin for 1year, My veins started colapsing at end of last FEC but nurse managed other side of arm via hand so it was ok. Not sure if I will continue like that or have line fitted I guess time will tell.
Good luck with yours!

Hi everyone,
Glad to hear you’re all still enjoying the sunshine and coming through your SEs. I’ve had a bit more energy today so was able to take my dog to training school today - the highlight of my week -woohoo. Coke, jelly babies and dog training - we know how to live on this chemo train don’t we?
I hope you had a lovely birthday Angie. It’s mine tomorrow so we’re going for a picnic in the park with the kids and out for an Italian meal in the evening. I’m also joining the shotputters club, but will worry about it later. I’ve been reading a bit about common causes of cancer and think I will probably have to change my diet anyway.
Angie you did make me laugh wiyh the vision of your hair hanging up to dry. I’ve still only given mine a couple of outings so not washed it yet. My hair keeps trying to grow back between treatments, but then goes hard and my scalp feels sore. I’ve shaved it again today, but hoping I can leave it to grow back now I’ve finished the FEC. I’ve heard mixed things about hairloss on TAX so we’ll see.
Have a nice evening ladies

By the way welcome Lynn. If you go to the first page of this stream there is an option to bookmark the page. The link is then saved in your profile info on the dropdown menu on your left (my bookmarks). Hope that helps you find us more easily

Good evening ladies,
i seem to have ran out of luck. was up all night last night, sicker than a very sick dog with an upset stomach! so bad it seems to have strained some innards and ive not been good all day. Temp is up to 37.5 which i have never had before, always around 36.6. I went into work expecting to get over the sicky stuff, new day and all that, but i was back home after 2 hours and have been in bed all day. Bugger!! Ive got 3 different thorntons chocs and maltezers yet
so, what do we thinks going on? I have a theory, my last injection was the day before yesterday, and thats for the blood making isnt it? so am i on a downer from that? its never happened before so its new to me. i dont want to ring the medical peeps because theyre a bit too quick to take you down there and its a 40 miles round trip so i’m trying to hang on. I still feel a bit sicky and worn out but i am up and pottering now.
Thankyou for all the birthday wishes, i should have had vodka in that coke, at least it would have been worth it then!
angie xx
