Cycle 5 docetaxel day 2
i wrote a big post this morning it hands disappeared , think it n must be censored or something any way had a good day today hope the s/ e donāt kink in just Lysol hard this time . Lynn x
I had cycle number 2 out of 4 of the CMF on Fri. I have a horrid sore mouth tried everything they prescribed including Gelclair.
i am now taking painkillers because my mouth and throat are sore. I am starting to see some hair growth which is encouraging.
Mel, I am sorry to hear that you have been through this ordeal and I hope they send you home today. There is no place like home.
does anyone know if the veins on the chemo arm will start to look normal again?
Best wishes Angels.
Debra. xx
Hi Debra,
I had EC 5 ten or so days ago and for the very first time Iāve got mouth ulcers. Blame myself really because throughout Iāve used Corsodyl full strength but Iād stopped using it over the past couple of weeks because my teeth were looking so discoloured - Corsodyl really does turn teeth brown. Anyway, Iām back on it now and intend to ring the chemo unit tomorrow to see if theyāll prescribe me something more useful than the iglu gel I bought in Boots. I too am taking paracetamol to take the edge off.
As for the veins, mine arenāt too good either and Iāve got a bit of chemo (epirubicin) burn from leakage when a vein collapsed mid cocktail delivery number 4! My hand also keeps swelling up so that my knuckles disappear. Still, itās my sixth and last red poison on August 1st. Canāt wait to get it over with. I found a thread on this website relating to vein probs. Iāve bumped it for you so you should find it on latest posts.
Yes, Iāve got a halo of very fine white hair showing but Iāve also got two more lots of days 17-20 (hair coming-out days) so Iām not expecting mine to last!
Weather has cooled down considerably here today. Feel thatās helping me feel more human.
Hope everyone is coping well
Moira xxx
Afternoon Angels,
Soory to here of the horrible mouth problems. I also have huge problem with my veins as most have now thrombosed and had terrible cording going on. This should clear up ? How long it takes .
Well I had a wonderful day yesterday and met up with the lovely Sandy in Wells next to Sea. We had such a great ttime chatting and an awful lot of laughing. I turned up with full entourage of family, and they all said how lovely Sandy and other half were, and found it hard to believe we had never met before. Bodes very well for when we all meet up next year.
Wishing you all minimal s/e and a good day xx
Evening Angels,
Got back from Wells in Norfolk two hours ago. Meeting Philomena and her lovely family on Saturday afternoon was wonderful. It was great to chat and ask advice. Both in-laws have worked in the NHS too as well as Philomena. Her daughter is lovely and so down to earth and grown up at only 12 yrs I thought she was at least 15.
Philomena - Went to Cley and bought smoked salmon. Just like you said Yum. Had it tonight for tea. Did your mum find you that crystal ball. It was hard to believe we had never met before and yes canāt wait until all of us are together in one room.
(Honestly ladies Philomena is a proper ringer for Mystic Meg and can tie a scalf without the need of a mirror. Impressive to say least). It was hard to believe we had never met before and yes canāt wait until all of us are together in one room. I can honestly say though I think were going to need at least a couple of days the way we were.
Mel - Still in? I do feel quiet guilty about the weekend. I so hope your out soon. If the food is good eat well sweetie. x
Mel A - Iām pleased your appoinment went well. I think we have enough to worry about without being pushed back into work to soon.
Angie - Freddie looks a real sweatheart and no wonder your going to miss your family. Mine are with there dad (for which I thank him) especially when the Seās kick in and I have them most weekends. But I do miss them during the week. Hang in there.
Amber - Happy Dance for you too on Tues. Well done. x
Debra and Moira - If itās any help my Oncologist prescribed Benzydamine for my sore mouth (sugar free) and it really worked for me although I am on Tax/Herceptin.
Hope everyone else is ok. Pauline how was your weekend? Lv n Hugs Sandy. x
FInally got out yesterday. I think they just ran out of ideas! Have done nothing but sleep since I came home and temp was normal this morning, thank goodness. Back to onc next week to see if chemo can continue. Thank you everyone for your support you really got me through it. Iāve Never stayed in hospital that long for anything and I hope I never have to again although everyone looked after me really well. Great to be home!
Debra hope your mouth improves soon. Iām not looking forward to cmf.
Love to all mel Xxx
Well done Mel, hope your temp stays down! Enjoy some sunshine today if you have it.
Hope everyone had a SE free or At least manageable weekend.

Cycle 5 docetaxel 2 day 4
Mel so glad to hear you are out, great feeling, hope your chemo continues as normal.
Debra the best thing I have found for the mouth is ice lollies, I had one at midnight last night lol.
My aches and pains kicked in yesterday, although I think I have sorted the pain relief timings out a bit better this time, at least we know it does pass eventually.
Hope the rest of you are all ok take care. Lynn x
Yippee Melās free! Enjoy the sunshine, frsh air and freedom Mel
Sandy and Philomena Iām glad you both enjoyed your get together. I canāt wait to meet up with you all.
Kateās turn for the happy dance this week. Good luck with your last chemo Kate.
Lynn I hope your aches and pains pass quickly.
Iāve had a lovely weekend, watching my two superstar children perform in their show at a local theatre and then yesterday having my in-laws round for a meal. I attempted to put false eyelashes on for the theatre but failed miserably. Has anyone had any success with them yet?
Excellent news that you are out Mel, try and make the most of the sunshine now that you are out
Sandy and Philomena the catch up sounded wonderful, looking forward to when all the angels get together later in the year.
good luck to everyone on the chemo train this week.
Kim x
Good morning Angels,
Thanks again Sandy for a great day out on Saturday, and no we didnāt find the crystal ball!
So glad to here you have finally escaped Mel, it seems to have gone on forever. Now at home you will make a very quick recovery. Thereās no place like home.
Good luck Kate for your last chemo, so exciting now that were all coming to the end of chemo. My happy dance is next Monday,so in thre weeks time I should be starting the recovery. Iām sure the rads will be a breeze in comparison.
Debra, hope your OK.
Must be off as I have to pick up my granddaughter from nursery xx
Morning Angels - had a lovely few days away in Killin, sunshine was glorious and followed up with barbieās and catch up with friends over the weekend 8)

Kate / Amber - good luck for last chemo this week. my last is on Friday - yipee!!!
Mel A - I tried the eyelashes, what a mess!! Think they need real lashes to cling to - I just gave up!
Angie - so glad you had a great time with your daughter and grandson - he looks like a wee smasher
Judy - hope youāve been getting some zzzzzzs
Take care Angels
Love Pauline x
ps got the date for my scans, 8th August
Morning Angels
Mel - Iām so pleased for you. Well done to you and how brave. How many cycles do you have left? I still have three so may be with you on the chemo train for a while as I think many will be happy dancing well before us.
Went to have blood taken today at our local hospital in readiness for chemo at Boston tomorrow. Athough I had my ususal lady whoās lovely and tries hard to get the blood it just wasnāt having any of it. I was beginning to feel queasy after alot of waiting in two veins and going for another. I finally said Iād rather try again tomorrow before chemo as the nurses there can get it from other locations rather than the middle arm.
So strange how I can sit for hours with a needle in my hand and having nastieās pumped in but am such a baby on the blood tests. I never used to be, but now I think itās preying on my mind days before i even get there. Just canāt help it.
Oh well ready to see what tomorrow brings.
Lori, Philomena, Pauline and all either having or have had there chemo wishing you warm weather and very few seās. Lv n Hugs. Sandy. xx
hi angels
good luck for tommorow amber, hope it goes well, happy dancing for you.
well, i thought iād sorted this cycle out, while katie was here i was not well but ok. now it feels like the early symptoms - nausea, mouth, all that crappy bits, are all coming back! so whats that about? iām having to watch and do all the preventative stuff again, i had to go docs for more anti sick meds? weird. I can just about eat but its not great, last night a tooth nearly fell out when i had a sandwich. good god!! got rads planning on 12th august with scan i think, not completely sure about that bit though. might have to trek there again if theyve cocked it upā¦ ive been sleeping now OH is back but i do feel like poo!!
philomena - glad you enjoyed your trip to see sandy.
moira - ive got a bit of a layer going on too, like the soft part of velcro but a bit thinner, very strange but nice to not have a shiny head.
Lynn - hope youre putting your feet up, ive stuggled with the fatigue this time, im just a week in front of you i think. i needed a lot of sleep this time.
Mel A i bet you were very proud of your kids.
kim - the pineapple thing, i was told fresh pineapple has the enzyme that sorts the sore mouth but juice and tinned has less. i tried it and it does work really well, iām on it now. why do we find all this things out so late in the cycles, someone should write a chemo bible with all our different remedies, we could just try all of them, or at least get all the ideas in one place. dont tell meā¦ there is one??
kate - nearly there, have you had your bloods today? hope its good blood. hope youve been eating your greens up luv
Pauline - countdown eh? get some broccoli and cabbage on your dinner, make sure your bloods reaady.my last is a week on wednesday, cant come soon enough.
sandy - hope you have a better day tommorow, do they sit your arm in hot water? ive seen them do that at mine, not for me, ive got a line. seems to work.
and last but not least mel - finally home!!! yay!!! bet youre so pleased.
enjoy the weather, before the thunderstorms come
angie xx
And Judy, hope youre feeling better, its a hard one this isnt it
angie xx
Hi Angels,
Melā¦soooooo pleased your home, excellent news, sure your feeling all the better for being back in your own bed.
I see a few happy dances are on the cards this week and next - Fabuloso!!!
Itās a lovely feeling coming up to the last one but donāt worry if you still have a few to go we are all still going to be here for each other to see it through. It would have been so much harder without all your support, tips, good wishes and laughter which Iām so pleased to have been a part of its really helped!
Been alot tireder this time round and had a few other SEās (rash, sore feet, phlebitis in arm, sunburnā¦doh!!!) but thankfully turning a corner now.
Thinking of you all, hope your getting through as best you can and looking forward to meeting you at the station when you get off the chemo train
Herceptin & Tamoxifen are next for me (no rads) due to start 12th August if I can get my line fitted in time so weāll see.
Good luck girls, weāre getting there!!!
Lots of love & best wishes, Lori xx
