Hi Everyone
I had my wig appointment yesterday and decided to go for the third one I tried on, so they’re ordering it in my colour. I’ll need to go back and get it fitted, thinned out and trim slightly – so I’m quite excited about it and definitely think I’ll wear it. Isn’t it weird trying on different hair styles?
I saw my surgeon this morning for my 6 week post surgery check-up. I felt so much better after I saw him as he was able to answer a couple of basic questions the oncologist couldn’t – like why was there 2 lumps on the scan and only one reported on in the pathology report?. I was reading part of the oncology report as he reading it and picked out the sentence ‘Helen appears very upset about what has happened!’ – and I felt like saying ‘of course I’m bloody upset’, how the hell do they expect us to react when we get such crap news?
Fiona - God you sound like you’re having a really hard time, take it easy. I feel a bit of a fraud that I’ve managed to avoid most SE’s, I’m just tried and thirsty, although I noticed yesterday that my face and skin is looking a bit ‘dehydrated’ and is starting to age; I’ve suddenly got noticeable crows-feet – argh!!!. Did your son enjoy his birthday?
Sharon – I’m really glad the pain has started to ease. Not long now till your surgery, how are you feeling about it?
Pauline – I think we’re all so lucky to have you; our own forum nurse – you’re advice is so great and reassuring. Is Green Tea good for you? I hope you have a great weekend in Oban and you get to drive ! enjoy your fish too.
Tracy – How was the hummer? I hope your daughter and pals enjoyed it and you had a great time too. I’m not far enough into chemo to comment on periods, but I’ve just had my first one post chemo and it was as heavy as hell, but I can’t complain as it was actually the first one I’ve had for 19 months (pregnancy and breastfeeding).
Angela – Is it next week you’re starting back to work? I hope you’re making the most of your last week off.
Annie and Sheila – How are you both feeling now?
Jo – Did the kids get loads of Easter eggs? Mine got loads and are slowly munching their way through them. Back to school / nursery Monday so at least we get a rest!
I think I might be entering the ‘hair falling out stage’ as I epilated my legs yesterday without any pain! Although I haven’t noticed any hair falling out yet. I know I wore the cold-cap, but at what stage does your hair usually start falling out, just so I’m prepared?
I’m not sure if I’ll be able to make lunch next week as I’ve got my second cycle of chemo on Tuesday and not sure if I’ll feel up to it –I can’t believe it’s come round so quickly. If everyone else is free, please just go ahead and organise something and if i’m feeling crap I’ll make the next one.
I think my baby is about to get her first tooth, will keep you posted!
Hugs
Helen
