Hi girls - haven’t been here since last week so a lot to catch up on.

Sorry girls - pressed submit by mistake.
There seems to be so much going on with you all.
Annie - loved all your funny jokes.
Sharon - glad you had good time at your sisters. you’ll just be anxious to get back to your own house.
Pauline - sorry you got knocked back for benefits. I get DLA - Carol at the Maggies Centre helped me - she’s really brilliant. If you haven’t already you should make an appointment to see her.
Linda - so sorry to hear about this new recurrence. It’s such a horrible thought that you have to go everything again.
Fiona - glad SE not so bad. I am like you and have put weight on every time I go to hospital I find that when feeling sick If I eat it seems to help so go around eating everything and anything.
Helen - has your nausea passed. It is just horrible. My daughterwas pregnant while I’ve been getting chemo. We had the same symptoms and liked to eat the same foods.
Just going to take my old Dad to Victoria for an apointment. he has. Will drop him outside - see enough of hospitals at present.

Hi Everyone,
I ve just found this forum and just wanted to tell you all that I m from E K and have had 2 primary cancers and have had bilateral mastectomy, chemo and radiotherapy.
I had a very tough time but just want to let anyone know who’s going through treatment that I m doing just great nearly 2 years down the line.
Keep positive and keep smiling.

Hi All
Well I’m now the proud mum of a gorgeous 1 year old – big birthday celebrations today and a house full of kids; what possessed me to have a party ? bloody chemo affecting my brain cells! But we had a great time and I’m really glad I did it.

I went to the doctors yesterday and got my sick note renewed for another 16 weeks, the doctor was great and said she didn’t expect me to go back to work before the end of my treatment as I needed to focus my energy on getting through this – which was a huge relief as I was stupidly worrying she wouldn’t renew it ! I’m not sure how I feel about going into my work tomorrow to drop it off, as apart from 9 days in Feb, I’ve now been off for 13 months! and really do feel totally out of it.

Sharon – I hope all goes well with your oncology appointment tomorrow – fingers crossed you won’t need more chemo. How long are you planning to be at your mums for.

Fiona – I love your new look. How are you coping with your wig? I wear mine all the time; even though I still have my hair, but it has thinned and looks totally lifeless as I’m not doing anything with it. What have you got planned for your big day tomorrow? – you’re catching up with me! I hope you have a lovely day.

Pauline – Glad you’re healing well and you’re managing to rest. I hope all goes well at your wound check on Thursday, I’m sure you’ll keep them on their toes!

Fuzzyface – Glad you managed to get your travel insurance sorted, must be a huge relief. Who did you use?

Yvonne – I was OK after my first Epi, just really thirsty and tired. I got my mum to come up and stay with us so she could look after the kids and Jon could look after me, but I was fine. I actually felt a bit of a fraud! Pauline advised me to drink loads of water so I aim to drink about 3 litres a day and I’m sure that is making a huge difference (can’t go too far from a loo though – ha!). Are you going to try the cold cap? I’m really glad I’ve been wearing it – OK my hair doesn’t look great right now, but I’ve still got it and that’s a huge thing to me.

Linda – How did you get on at your appointment today? I was thinking of you.

Sheila - I’ve always compared how I’m feeling with on chemo with the late/overdue stages of pregnancy too. Hope you’re keeping well.

Annie – Love the jokes, how’s the decorating going? In the letters section of the Daily Mail today someone was complaining about the lack of benefits you’re entitled to when you’re ill and comparing this with all the benefits that illegal immigrants get thrown at them – I thought of you when I read it.

Did anyone read the Daily Mail yesterday - great article on chemo brain.

I hope everyone else is OK. Well, just off to eat some birthday cake, sod the weight!

Hugs to everyone

Helen

Happy Birthday to you Fiona.Have a great day and manage to get a few glasses of the old vino.
Helen - Glad you managed to have party for your baby.
Sharon - how was your appointment at Oncology - hope everything ok and you don’t need any more chemo
Pauline - how did you get on today at hospital. Were they pleased with your wound.
Went to M & S Argyle street and they have a luvly range of mastectomy bras. I wasn’t brave enough to have reconstruction so have to wear a prosthesis. Went mad and bought 4. Came home and threw out the horrible ones I had.
Weather getting better so fingers crossed for a sunny weekend.
love to you all
Sheila

Hi Sheila…
Just back from GRI.Wounds are healing well. Its the left armpit were the the lymph node clearance was done which is soo numb.Having difficulty acquiring sports bras my size…32AA to begin with then whatever. As I am slim the bras dig into the ports. Now got some lyofoam dressings to help.
Not be getting expanded for another couple of weeks so having a bit of a rest from GRI…shame I have to go to the other hospitals.
Managed to get some plants while I was out…I love the garden…roll on the sun and the bbqs.

YIPEEE!!!
No more chemo for me, rads in 3-4 weeks time for 5 weeks at Beatson.
Nearing the end of this nightmare although still get herceptin.
1 lymph node affected with 4 scarring, all 11 lymph nodes taken away.
I have Inflammatory carcinoma and ductal carcinoma no specific type. Hormone negative.
Also discovered today I have lost 4 kilos!!!
I had such a laugh today with Dr Yosef, I like him but I know there are alot of people who don’t, I’ve always got on with him.

Moved back into my own flat last night, my own bed was bliss. Dad finished my kitchen, looks great, dad is very handy, I want a man like him

Happy birthday Fiona, have a lovely day and get drunk.

Helen - bet you had great time at party, you still need to live your life although we are going through this crap.

Pauline - sounds like your healing well like me, I’m still having stiffness also. My left arm pit is also numb, just had Oncologist poking about, he was a bit ruff.

All my hair is starting to come back but some places coming back too much!!

So glad to be back in my own wee space. Just going to make my dinner now.

Big positive hugs to all.

Hi Girls,

Thankyou for all your Birthday wishes, I’m having a lovely day. Being spoiled and made a fuss of is sooo nice… was out for lunch in Town yesterday with My X’s mother and sister and nephew and had a really nice time. Went out for dinner tonight to the Local steak sizzler, getting stuck into some vino as we speak!! I’m going to try out the famous Muscle Inn on Saturday with friends. Going out for lunch tomorrow!! God my social life has never been so good!!

That’s great Sharon you’re back in your wee flat… no place like home eh? Brill no more chemo… Herceptin’s a pain every 3 weeks but no side effects at least…oh wee tip for hair, make sure you give your head lots of nice massages… this will help stimulate hair folicles and help with hair growth, if the skin is dry massage olive oil in a wee while before washing…

Pauline, have you tried the little stretchy sleep bras out of M&S? they are really good, just like vest top but with good support, keeps everything together but without digging in. I used them for weeks after the op.

Helen, bet you can’t believe it’s a year since Seren was born? some year it’s been at that!! good to hear you all had a good time… it’s always great to have an excuse for a party…!!

Yvonne, good luck for tomorrow, will be thinking of you… Try to relax and just let everything pass over you… getting chemo isn’t so bad but when it’s your first time and you don’t really know whats going on then it’s so easy to be stressed… Are you going to the Beatson?

Survivor51, welcome to the thread. Good to hear of positive, supportive stories from people a wee bit down the line… Thanks for taking the time, much appreciated…

Linda (how did things go?), Fuzzyface, Sheila, Annie and everyone else Take care and hope you’re all fine…

Well girls!! wine beckons!!.. I’ve got nutrition workshop at Maggie’s tomorrow, Bet you I’m there with a hangover!!! Beetroot and chocolate cake… I’m going to need all the Anitioxidants I can get!!
Wish me luck!!

Hugs

Hi All

Well, was brave yesterday and popped my sick note into work. Just sat in reception and spoke to my boss and saw a few people I worked
with; they all thought my glam wig was great! It was really strange but I actually felt quite self-conscious there – loads of guys in my dept and stupidly feel a bit uneasy with them knowing what’s happens! Yep – I know I’m mad!

Fiona – Glad you had a good birthday, you deserve to be spoilt. What a social life you have at the moment – I’m jealous, although I did go out last night for a meal with friends, which was great. Hope you enjoyed your nutrition course.

Sharon – Fab news you don’t need anymore chemo and your hairs coming back too, what a boost – I’m so pleased for you. Are you enjoying being home and having your own space?

Pauline – Glad you’re doing well, just remember you’re still early days. Have you managed to get out in the garden with this good weather? I got a great bra from Matalan (loved them so much I bought 5!- bit of a shopaholic at the mo) its slightly padded (non wired) and is really quite high at the front (1 ½”), so it totally hides my concave front section and lob-sidedness; just great! Anyway, its really soft and even better was only £3 – what a bargain!

Yvonne – How was your chemo? Take it easy this weekend and drink loads.

Sheila – Your new bras sound great, it makes a huge difference to how you feel if you get ones that fit well and look good. I’m a definite believer in retail therapy at the moment!

Annie, Fuzzyface and everyone else, hope you’re doing fine.

Any tips for vein irritation from the chemo, Oncologist suggested ibrufen gel, but its not making any difference. Dr suggested ice, so off to try that now.

Take Care All

Helen

Hi girls

yip so good to have my own freedom back, but need to get someone to put moisturiser on back scar, can’t reach it.
i’m sick and tired of wearing these socks for the Blood clots, I want to stop wearing them, 4-6 weeks until I can be free of them, take them off for little while to let legs breathe, they are so warm!

Fiona - sounds like you were like me at the start, out all the time.
Sound as though you’ve really enjoyed yourself. Mussel Inn is fab, I went there before going into hospital, I had Scallops to start then Hot seafood platter, was brill! We had bottle fizzy Rose, was gorgeous.

Helen - I always feel funny when I go into work, I made a comment on facebook about getting new boob, guy in my office who is a right geek made a comment back, how weird is that!! I didn’t know he knew I was on facebook, he must have looked me up, AHHH!!

Sis is coming round tomorrow to do my house work, flat is a tip at moment and I can’t do much. Will go out first to get some decorations for her party, she is having a 30th on 13th June, hope I can find something nice to wear.

Have a good week all
Sharon

Morning girls…

Hope you are all ok.Sheila, got your card today via the glasgow royal…gobsmacked!! In my experience hospitals are not that good at passing on mail once you have gone…maybe its just my ward though.Anyway, thankq very much anyway…it was very kind of you.
What are you up to over the weekend?
My plan was for a bbq but knocked that one on the head as it has just starting pouring.Contingency plan is to go down to the local carvery for lunch.
Sharon, does your sister want to come round to my house and do some cleaning? Men try but they dont bother moving objects etc…should’nt complain though I have a A4 sheet of paper with jobs for him today.Think he will pap me off to my mums very soon.

Helen,I have not been anywere near work…have had friends round to the house from work but would feel a bit weird going in.Too many folk with too much questions.Need to face it one day though.Reckon HR will be having me in soon and cannot get out of going to that.Well done for going in anyway.

Fiona, hope your bithday celebrations are going well.Enjoy smeagle delights tonight.Let us know what you got.

Yvonne…hope you are ok.
Everyone else have a nice weekend

Hi Pauline
Just a quick one - did the hospital forward my card on to you? I posted it the day before you got out. I’ll have to complain if they forwarded Sheila’s and not mine - ha! just joking.

Sharon - maybe we could all share your sister! It’s great she’s able to help you out with all the practical things.

My mum’s just come up to stay, so no ironing for the week - yipee! I’m glad I’m not the only one feeling awkward about going into work - Sahron I agree I think it’s a bit freaky that guy commenting about your new boob too!

Helen

Helen hi…
No card yet via GRI …ya never can tell with the NHS.Thanks anyway for sending it…it was very kind of you.
Weather is crap here so sitting in now watching mind numbing tv…old implants are playing up today.
Take care
