Sharon,

Great news about your treatment… what a relief not to have to go through months of it again… 5 herceptins will fly in and you’ll be able to get on with things again…good for you getting out and enjoying yourself…Big Hugs to you xx

I’m really enjoying my wig training…it’s amazing how much there is to learn. I was shocked to hear that the Beatson won’t distribute Sharon’s flyer as they have said they can’t be seen to be promoting one business… there are leaflets all over the hospital advertising all sorts of things, and in the chemo suite they’re giving out a sheet with the other 3 on it… All the breast clinics round Paisley and Glasgow have been great and taken it happily… very strange!! well I put up a wee thread on here as I’m sure there are many people who are looking for information, who don’t post.

Annie, Good to hear you’re feeling a bit better, you will be fine with Rads… it’s a walk in the park compared to chemo. I hope your arm behaves itself and doesn’t give you any trouble… I think your suggestion of cafe Andeluz is good… I haven’t been yet but would love to try it… how does that suit everyone else?

Good luck Pauline with your 2 days at work…don’t be doing too much…!!!

Helen, hopefully I’ll get to see you tomorrow, have another blether and a catch up… hope my clinic isn’t running late…(but we all know it probably will!!)

Sheila, how are you doing? haven’t heard from you in a while. I hope it’s not the chemo keeping you away!! let us know how you’re doing, if you can xx

Take care girls, Yvonne, Mags, Carol, Lulu and Joanne… big Hugs x

Hi Girls

I hope everyone had a good weekend. We just a quiet one and I still ended up falling asleep on the settee.

Sharon - It’s great news that you aren’t having to go through another grouling year of treatment, I’m so pleased for you. It was a shame I missed you today - you were looking really well.

Fiona - I’m really glad you’re enjoing your wig training - I’ll PM you the contact at Stirling Royal, she arranges wig appointments for everyone having chemo in Forth Valley, from memory there are 3 or 4 wig shops that I could visit. Might be worth giving her a call.

Yvonne - good to hear from you again. Its great that you’re at the end of your chemo.

Pauline - Take it easy at work and don’t overdo things.

Carol - Hows the holiday packing going? I’m sooo jealous, wish I was going away, although my boob looks like its just back from a fortnights hol!!

Annie - The girls doing the rads are all lovely - I’m in treatment room I - I’m in early next week and need to head home straight after to collect Serren from nursery.

Lulu - thanks for the document link, it was really interesting and I’ll definately have it with me when I go for my annual check-up.

Sheila - how are you doing now?

Only 11 fryings to go now. It’ll be such a relief not to have to travel to Glasgow everyday - there’s average speed cameras through the roadworks on the M80, which are so stressful as you need to keep an eye on your speed constantly.

Christmas Lunch sounds great.

Take care. Lots of hugs

Helxxxx

You can check out cafe andeluz on line looks good if you like tapas
probable be about £25-30 with drinks keep an eye out for vouchers

Hi Guys

Sharon - THE BEST news. I think the thing to remember is that you are cancer free, in fact we all are, or will be soon!!! We are more at risk than many, but no worse off than they are, just MUCH more aware. I am so glad that your life will be returning to a sense of normality soon. Any idea when will you be getting your recon?

Fiona, also great news on the wig shop front. I know Aidraina from St Enochs was rushed off her feet; so many women in our position in need of wiggies, so that might not also give you an ideal job, but job security too. And you would be perfect for it. I am due another wiggie in December. They really only stay nice for about 6 months, don’t they? Friction, weather, heat etc, I suppose. I have now lost most of the hair I kept throughout this chemo - thank god - so I have just a thin covering now. It was coming in as a wiry Afro!!!

All went well with the echocardiograph, somewhat to my surprise given the cardiotoxic chemo and herceptrin, infections etc of late.

It’s just hit that chemo is finished!!! And that that the awful side effects this time are waning. Just got to give it time now. Still can’t do much (I have some steroids left because I got a days intravenously on lat TAX) and I take one to give me a boost if I need to get something done, like going to the bank. Don’t tell anyone! I now have to drink - I kid you not - 4 litres of solution prior to my procedure tomorrow!! FOUR litres!!! They warn you not to stray tooooo far from a loo. I’ll be reporting from there for the next 24 hours!!! And I am having visitors this evening …

Starting rads next week, slightly apprehensive, getting so many of them … is it true that you only get a strip of paper to cover yourself at the Beatson when beinng zapped? If so, what is the rational? Other units let you wear a gown, like they did in the simulation. As if we arent put through enough …

Hope you are keeping well, resting as much as you can …

Shiela, Yvonne and Maggie - how are you girls keeping? Treatment being rough/kind on you? Check in to reassure us. It would be great to all meet in the run up to Christmas.

Hugs to all

Annie xxxx

Hi Annie, you are getting there, yep you only get a bit of paper to cover yourself, its actually ok as they have it on the seat when you go in, by the second or third, you really dont mind, a couple of times when I was getting radio, it slid off me!!!

hope everyone is good and a meet up for xmas lunch would be lovely

take care, im of to do some packing for Sunday, cant actually believe im going on holiday!!!

love

Carol xx

Hello hello hello…it’s me. how are you all doing? Ive been a wee bit rougher than usual with this cycle…but feeling ok tonight. I like the sound of Christmas dinner even though my taste buds seem to have dissapeared…tonight Im mainly sucking Rowantree Fruit Pastilles.
It seems that everyone has had a wee bit of a rough month, lets hope that the weeks up to Christmas are a wee bit easier. I’ve only two more chemos to go…can hardly wait till this part is over.

Anyways my lovely girls…hope you are all chilling tonight

Hugs and kisses Maggie xxxxx

Hi Girls,

Hope you all had a nice weekend?

Annie, hope you are well and your wee op went fine… It’s great you’re finished chemo and I’m sure you’ll be fine with rads… you can ask for a gown when you arrive and there are changing rooms if you would prefer that than undressing in the room…

Helen is this your second last week? How are you bearing up? you’ll be so glad when it’s all finished…

Sheila, hope you are ok… you’ve not been on in ages and I just hope things are ok with you.

I’m just waiting for a cardiology referal as had to stop herceptin… probably going to need heart medication to help it recover with a good break from it… hopefully I will be offered it again in the future…I’m back at the beatson on 1st Dec if anyone is around?

well off to get ready for the shop…I’m really enjoying it!

Hope everyone else if fine…

Big Hugs and best wishes to all

Hi Girls

I hope everyone is keeping OK and had a good weekend. I haven’t been on recently as I have a habit of falling asleep on the settee in the evenings - was asleep before the kids on Friday night - probably helped by the glass of red wine I had!

I’m now on my final countdown to finish my rads - only 6 sessions to go - and then no more stressing about car-parking spaces at the beatson - yipee!!! My skin is holding out really well, my boob is a lovely colour and looks like its been on a fortnights holiday in the sun - I just wish the rest of me was the same colour - lol!!

Take care all.

Helen

Hello gals

My, but you have been quiet lately!! Hope that means that you are all keeping well and getting on with life.

They couldn’t do the banding - there was too much trauma so it’ll have to calm down before they can operate. It was really sore getting the exam, even with sedation. My poor bum! Getting it done after rads is finished and getting meds in the meantime. Feeling much better but INCREDIBLY weak and feeble. Cannot walk up a flight of stairs without a couple of rest breaks and even he walk to the rads room left my legs like jelly at the simulation. I am getting impatient with myself. Starting rads tomorrow! In the final straights now and big tum of E45 chillin in the fridge!

Great that you are loving the wig shop Fee. I had the scalp '‘pain’ over the weekend and the rest of the hair in coming out - 3 weeks after final chemo. Weird or what? Hope it grows back, sometimes it don’t after Tax apparently.

Hoping you are all doing wonderfully, especially Shiela and Maggie. Chemo sucks big time. No doubt about it. But it will be a memory soon. Helen, almost finished!!! CONGRATULATIONS. And your skin held up! Any tips sweetheart?

Anyone else rivited to X-Factor? I am becoming smitten by the twins. Chemo brain, do you think?

Hugs

Carol…I hope you have a lovely holiday…me? jealous? not-at-all. Im green with envy…Ive not had a proper holiday for many many years (probably 1993 was the last time I was on a foreign beach…can you hear the violins in the background?
Annie…you are a blinking star…all these horrible side effects you have had…what an awful time…but hey…you are getting there honey.

Fiona…catch up with you tomorrow doll…(Fiona is sooo sweet, but you can hardly get a word out of her) Im going to get a slap for that ha ha xxxx

All the rest of you, how are things? hope you are all in a good place. Wouldn’t it be great if we could ‘all’ make lunch…what stories we would have. Anyways girls…Im off to watch some telly, bit bushed tonight…hugs to each and everyone xxxxx

Oh ps…Im at the Beatson tomorrow…anyone else there?

Hi Maggie

Sorry I missed you at the Beatson today - I did a quick tour of the area where Fiona gets seen prior to Chemo but didn’t see you.

I hope it all went OK - take it easy.

Helen

So sorry not been here for ages.
First chemo was hard - propablY because I was low after being in hospital.
My son, Euan, took ill with pneumonia and pleurisy.Thought it could have come from swine flu and but that was negative. He was in HDU for 5 days then transferred to respitory ward. He is still quite ill but making slow progress. No idea when he’ll get home. It’s awful when your kids are so unwell, no matter what age. Euan is 33 .
Not able to go in and see him - will have to wait till he gets home.
Got 2nd Taxotere/Xeloda last Tuesday and feeling rubbish. Must have every SE going. I also have a bad cold and my central heating broke down at the weekend. Cried on the phone to the Gas Board on Sunday and they came out that morning.
Why is it that when your down, something comes along and kicks you even further. Just want some nice things to happen.
My hair is a sight - lots have come out but still long wispy bits. At fiona’s one day with my scarf on. Jessica took her hat out of her bag, put it on and kept it on the whole time I was there. She just made me laugh. These are life’s pleasures
Hope you are all ok - must look back at the posts.
Love to you all
Sheila

Hi Sheila,

Good to hear from you again, I was starting to get worried about how chemo was treating you.

So sorry to hear about your son, you must be so worried…I hope he makes a speedy recovery and gets home soon so that you can see him…
You’ve certainly got a lot on your plate just now, and it does always seem to come when we’re at our lowest. I’m sending you a big hug and hope things get a bit better for you soon…

Hugs
Fiona xxxxx

Hi Sheila

It’s good to hear from you again - I’m sorry that you’ve been having a hard time with your chemo.

How is your son now? I hope he’s doing better - what a worry for you. I’m glad wee Jessica is ‘looking after you’.

Annie - how are your rads going? Don’t forget to slap on plenty of cream.

I’ve only got 3 more booster rads to go - the nurse was sating yesterday that my skin had held out really well. It looks like I’ve got a nasty burn on my collar bone, but it doesn’t hurt and my boob just looks like its had a fortnights holiday in the sun, really brown.

I had some good news today - we’ve just concluded our side of the missives on selling our house - so we’re now planning on moving to the new house next week.

Hope everyone is doing fine.

Helen

hi everyone, im back to the pouring rain, we all had a fab time, laughed a lot, weather was in the 80s everyday apart from one day when it rained, but I could cope with that, it was just so nice getting away from everything and I feel so much better now with a bit of a tan.

off to Wishaw tomorrow to see oncologist, hopefully he will do something about my lump in my neck as I would rather have it checked out, fingers crossed its nothing

nice to hear from you again Sheila, sorry to hear about your son.

Helen, good luck with the house move

everyone else, hope you are all good

love

Carol xx

Hi Girls,

Hope you are all well? This weather is rubbish isn’t it? I just want to hide under the duvet and not come out!!!

Carol, glad to hear you had a lovely time… always good to get some heat into the bones before the winter sets in!!

Helen, nearly there now… when’s the last one? you’ll be so glad not to have to drive down here every day… congratulations on the house move… that’ll keep you out of trouble for a while… have you much work to do when you move in or is it a walk straight in job?

Can I have a wee show of hands all the people that could make a wee Xmas Lunch on Sat 11th Dec in Cafe Andeluz… I’ll need to book I think and the Sat is better for all us who are back to work…

Big Hugs to all, hope you’re not floating away

Fiona xxxx

Sorry Girls, got my dates mixed up… it’s Sat 12th Dec for Lunch…
