Shiela - what a sh*t time you are having of it! Have you tried smoothies? I bought a maker when dx way back last Jan and lived on them through chemo - slung an Activia yogurt, skimmed milk, ice cream, banana - slug of Bailly’s - and anything else to hand. Nice long glass, ice and straw and you’re set. Did the drains help?
Physio was gruelling. Embarrassing. Physio has seen steroid induced muscular myopathy before and it is sometimes very sore. luckily, I’m not, but Jeez, so restricing.
Spare a prayer girls please. My cousin, with whom I was out with yesterday, is having a CT scan on Tue. She is a lifelong, committed smoker and now has a ‘cloud’ in her lungs. She has 2 young boys and is in self hatred mode just now. I am going up with her - her partner and the kids don’t know.
Lots of love to you all, hope you are thriving and getting better with each passing day.
Hi Annie - Your poor cousin, she must be going through hell right now. I’ll be thinking of you both on Tuesday. How long will it take to get the results?
Sheila - How have you been over the weekend - thinking of you.
Hugs

Well. the Occupational Therapist was here yesterday to assess what aids needed. I am finding it hard to come to terms with the fact that the myopathty is permanent. But the aids will help.
Helen, my cus’s condition is not cancer, but she has severe lung damage. She is not answering her phone at the moment, and her work and her kids, partner, know nothing about it. So it’s a wee bit of a burden for both she and I. But it’s DEFINTLY not cancer. Phew!
Hi all
Sheila sorry to hear your still having a bad time, about time we did lunch again if you feel up to it? girls we need to get the finger out and organise food and drink !
Hi girls - thank you so much for all your lovely messages. It is so encouraging to know we are all there for each other.
Got 2nd chemo last Monday and starting to feel bit better.
Managing to eat bit better and enjoy wee glass of wine.
Been to Lymphoedema Clinic and got sleeve to wear. Not the most glamourous of things, but is does give some relief. If I’m going dressy out I don’t wear it.
Fiona - so jealous of your wee trip to Spain Enjoy.
Helen - good to hear from you again. Are you keeping well and coping with work and family.
Annie - you are having a hard time. Keep cheery.
Carol - good to know you still check out this page.
Maybe when Fiona and Sharon get back from holiday we could get a date to meet up for lunch.
Hi Sheila
It’s good to here from you again, I was worried about you as you hadn’t been on for a while. I’m glad you’re feeling a wee bit better and hopefully your sleeve will help.
I had my pre-assessment apt through today to get my gall-bladder out; which I’m not looking forward to But apart from that I’m doing fine and am being kept busy, between work and running round after the kids.
How are your family? Is your wee grand-daughter keeping you busy?
You take care
Helen

Hiya classy lassies. So good to hear from you Shiela. Are you feeling better now that you have been drained? I am attending ‘At Risk of Lymphodema’ course at the Haven. I have had cellulitis before following a blunt trauma and am very reactive to insect bites so am high risk. It’a a great course at the Haven. You might enjoy it, a couple of the girls have lymphodema and there are great tips on massage etc. Godbless Shiela and keep well!
Helen, hi. Good to hear from you. My cousin has COPD (she had pleurisy this time last year) She is getting pelters as she is a very commmitted smoker (she has cut down, but seems unable to give up completly)I am dispairing of her! After when we have gone through through no fault of our own … Still it’s not cancer and she was convinced it was. I was too, to be honest. BTW, my neighbour Davie had his gall bladder out a few months ago and was sunbathing. He has a few wee elastoplasts on his tum! He said the surgery was absolutly fine! I couldn’t believe how minimal the scars were and he said it was so worth it. He was in a LOT of pain beforehand. The VERY best of luck pal.
My walking is much better following physio, much less tentative. Just a bit slower and I still get awfy tired. I got some aids which have been helpful. Again, the care from the OT, the physio, the Haven etc have been wonderful. I have so many people to whom I owe thanks. If I could just get the boody diverticulitis under control …
So Sharon and Fiona are in Spain! I hope they are having a ball. How is Sharon? It would be great to meet up. Is anyone up for recon yet? I guess that will be the next step in our wee adventure.
It is nice to see the posts again, do keep in touch!
Hi Annie / Sheila
Hope you’re both OK. I’m doing fine, had a bit of a ‘wobble’ emotionally recently as I think the whole BC thing finally sunk in, but I’m working thru it and starting to feel loads better now.
Fi & Sharon got delayed in Spain, Fi got home today and Sharon’s back tomorrow.
Hope you both have a good weekend

Hi everyone, hope you are all ok, we all need to have a wee lunch meet up soon, really need to get something sorted. I’m helping at the bc fashion show tomorrow, mags and Kim are models, so looking forward to that.
Hope you are all keeping well, and that the fashion show was a blast. I had my last consult with consultant that day, all ok. Sore, hot and very hard boob has no cancer, just bad scarring from rads.
Lost my brand new Nokia X6 last Sunday, with all my contacts! No longer covered by my contents insurance (changed to a cheaper option when doing my cancer compromise spreadsheet all those months ago) Physio has helped a lot, gentle exercise class henceforth. Iam waiting to see the other consultant about the diverticulitis (appt was cancelled and I was supposd to call to make another and the number was in my lost phone …) Long for life to be back to normal!!
Hi girls, just catching up with everyone. Sorry not been on for few weeks. Been really tired. Got 5th chemo on Monday, so still under the effects of steroids. They do give you a wee lift.
Fiona and Sharon - hope you had great holiday.
Helen - are you better after gall bladder op. Too bad about your wee bad turn over BC. You get through all the treatment etc. and sometimes it is ages after before it hits home just what you’ve been through. You are a star coping with treatment with a young family.
Carol - how are doing. Are you back at work yet.
Just getting ready for rubbish next few days. Usually just sleep most of the time. Don’t know what I’d do with Fiona being so near.
Hi Sheila
Good to hear from you again - i’ve been popping in her recently to see if you’ve been posting. How are you feeling after your 5th chemo? I hope you’ve got over the worst of the se’s.
I’m doing fine, had my gall bladder out Mon 8th and I’m doing great, just so relieved it’s over with.
Fiona, Sharon Carol, Mags & Lulu are all heading down to Whitby this weekend for a big BC meet-up, wish I could go but still taking things easy.
Hi Helen, Hope you are making a grand recovery from your gall bladder op. A neighbour of mine had it done in the summer and had been great since. Hope it’s hte same for you!
Hope you are handling the chemo well Shiela. You are a trooper!
Everybody geared up for Christmas? - looking forward to it, bedbound this time last year, lots to make up for…
Looks like everyone has given up on this site - hope not as it’s so
good to hear how everyone is doing.
Had 6th chemo yesterday and getting wee break over Christmas. Not back till 5th January. He hopes I should be able to take 3 more - pleased with how things are going.
Helen - hope you’re OK after gall bladder op. Take it easy.
Annie - are you keeping well and getting out and about.
How is everyone else. Are you getting on with Christmas shopping. I’ve done most of mine on-line as too tired to go around town shops.
Hi Sheila
You need to get yourself set up on Facebook. Me, Fiona, Carol, Sharon, Angela, Lulu all talk to each other regularly and it’s great, oh and Yvonne’s there too. There’s private email facility if you want to keep the conversation private.
I’m doing great, 4 wee scars and very few side effects. I’m a bit like you, I’ve done a whole load of christmas shopping on-line, makin the most of being off.
Hopefully you’ll have got thru all the chemo se’s by christmas and you’ll be able to enjoy it. Are you spending christmas with your daughter? I’m glad things are going ok for you.
Annie, I hope you’re OK too and are managing with this awful weather.
