Linda - so sorry to hear about your crap week. I used to work as a carer and have been through much the same thing and it always hit me hard each time.
Hopefully your mole removal won’t be too bad - where are you having it done - if you need company, just let me know.
Seem to be back with the pain again - tried to cut my tablets down but had to go back to taking them all. Is it usual after 4 weeks to have alot of pain, especially one that feels like someone sticking a very large needle through my nipple!(my lump was almost behind the nipple)
Meeting up sounds like just the tonic we all need - I am quite happy to drive anywhere or pick someone up. Nice idea to bring the men along, so it would have to be a weekend for me too but anytime if it’s just us girls. Chat soon, lots of hugs, Estellex

Poor you Linda, Its hard when you are working in a caring job as it doesn’t matter how hard you try you do get involved. I used to work as a Teaching Assistant with Special Needs kids. They always had various problems including bearevment and abuse. I’ve got my certificate in counselling so they all used to get sent to me before I referred them on to whoever. Sometimes it was hard to switch off after work. Best to get those moles sorted although its just another thing to worry about.
I’d keep taking the tablets Estelle!! Have you had a follow up appt. doesn’t help you make a speedy recovery if in pain.
Hope you are OK Debs and stiffness has gone after your walking last weekend.Its next Thurs 28th that I’m back up at Treliske so I’ll miss you this week.
I don’t drive either but I’m sure we can arrange something, I could catch a train to Truro? See if we can meet up and then arrange a Sunday.

Just a quickie. I’ve just had a change of appt. thro the post, My appt. for chemo is the same date but changed from onc dept to Sunrise centre and an hour later. I know they were talking about putting both rooms together but didn’t think it was yet! Anybody know anything?

Fudge,Im not sure about the changes as i always had my chemo at the sunrise center ,i havent been up there for a couple of mths so dont realy know about any changes ,i expect debs may know more.Hope your chemos going ok and side effects are few.
Estelle ,sorry to hear your pain is still bad, have you contacted your BC nurse she may be able to help more, hope you get your appointment through soon, think id be inclined to ring them up and give them a nudge just to see whats going on. Thanks for the offer of company for my mole removal bless you,im sure itll be fine im haveing it done localy in Falmouth minor surgery clinic so thats good, anyhow compared to BC mole removal should be a breeze eh lol.
Debs,hope things are going ok for you , like you say so much bad news around at the minute , quess all we can do is to try and not let it get to us too much otherwise we would never cope with all the stuff we are going through.
Takeing a coachload from work to Par market Sat so hope the weather is good, its a bit wet and windy here at the minute grrr.

the chemo unit is moving to what was the Griffin or Gregson Ward they are joining with haematology (blood) ward should be June. I could have the ward name wrong its the ward opposite Lowen ward. Don’t know if I mentioned it but Jo is leaving on Friday Claire is on maternity so I think they could be short staffed plus Laraine is pregnant and due to leave. Sad isn’t it that I know them all so well, after 5 years I feel I am on the payroll. I really should get a life. Oh thats why I go there isn’t it?
Yes Linda a lot of sadness around at the moment it is really hard to lose cyber friends, but we have to try to get on with our survival and enjoy the time we have. Plus put up with the treatments and stay positive…ooops am I allowed to say that. Thanks for redirecting me on the prayer thread.
Hope you are all doing o.k. Estelle think maybe you should ring your bc nurse. If only for piece of mind, better tobe safe than sorry.

Am sorry to see Joy leave she was one of the few who could find a vein with me,it always takes 4 or 5 attemps these days and a few different nurses trying so i end up black and blue arghhh, my veins are all still like wire and still havent recovered after chemo. Its sad when staff leave cos you build up a good relationship with them, you get to know them and them you.
Umm, useing the positive word on the forums is usealy taboo ,and has caused many a heated debate , but ive always been a postive person anyway and wont apoligise for it, certainly not here on the forums .
Debs didnt you use to go to Deriford too , thought i remembered replying to one of your posts once, sorry if ive got the wrong debs my brains not what it was lol.

no never been to Deriford but I think last year someone confused me with another lady it could be Liz from the Fort that you are thinking of. She is the lady with chrones she doesn’t come on the new site often.
Called in today to say my farewells to Jo and I can’t believe I cried that unit was full, she had a tear as well poor Heather didn’t know where to look. Told her under no circumstances can she leave.
I have my treatment next Thursday so may see you there Fudge.
Weather is looking good for the weekend so bones permitting I will be doing a bit in the garden.
Love to you all and any ideas about a meet up I am more than happy to do a Sunday 6ish dinner to include our partners.

Well maybe you are enjoying half term, I met Fudge yesterday so we had a good chat, we were a bit loud but didn’t disturb the other patients.
The nurses didn’t hand your cake round, Ian usually buys them chocolate and they never share that. Duncan said they all had fat bottoms and he should not give them as much so he has been a bit mean in the last couple of months. So I think they must be hoarding it.
Estelle… have you got your appointment through yet?

Sorry haven’t been around for awhile been a bit manic here. Had family down, been up to see others just seem to be running around like a headless chicken getting nowhere really. Good news all round - pain now under control and am off painkillers. Had onc appointment - it seems my consultant took a long time over the referral letter. Starting tac in about 3 weeks. Got to go on 16th for the pre chemo meeting and then they will give me the exact date. Pleased to have finally got a plan sorted but scared stiff as I am sure everyone is. Feel much more positive (!) now I am relatively pain free. Going for a break to the Brecon Beacons on Sat so hopefully the weather will stay good although not this hot cos I don’t do too well with heat. Sorry to have missed your birthday, Fudge, but a belated Happy Birthday to you and hope you managed to have a good day.

Hope you are feeling better Debs, I think we are back to winter now!!
Good to here you are pain free Estelle and it is good you are moving on to the next stage although you are feeling aprehensive. It goes fairly quickly once you start, I’ve only got two more. Infact the 5th is a week on Thursday. Hopefully op start of August!

I felt very low on Sunday/Monday but from Tuesday things got better, infact by Thursday and right up to now I am feeling so well and full of energy, better than I feel I’ve felt for months (even before DX).
Almost as though I’ve beaten it!! Does this sound odd?!! Also hair is coming back! We shall see if it is a permanent state!!!
Our daughter is coming down from london for a few days on Friday. We haven’t seen her since February just after I was referred. She has an audition for the Panto at the Hall for Cornwall next Tuesday. Be great if she got it as she’d be home for Christmas and earning money!!!.

Just got back from a week away and found that I am starting TAC on tues 16th - shall be there from 9am if anyone is around. don’t know how long it takes as I am having my pre chemo chat at 9am and then starting at 10 - so at least that’s the waiting over. Just a quick post as am feeling quite tired due to no sleep last night. Cos the chemo appointment wasn’t supposed to be on the same day as pre assess - wasn’t given steroids to take before, had to have larger dose on the day resulting in me being there from 9am to 3.30 pm and virtually stuck to those chairs lol. Lovely meeting you, Fudge, so nice to put a face to a name maybe we will get a longer chat next time. All in all feeling a lot better than expected.
Debs - so sorry to hear about what you have been going through - I thought I was the only one who constantly checked on their doctors cos they keep making mistakes. Just put in a complaint to the practice manager at my Gp cos they won’t give me a certificate for more than a month at a time and when they do they put that I have had a mastectomey - which I haven’t. Not as bad as your case but it does rather dent your trust. Did you manage to celebrate your anniversary, my 9th is coming up in a couple of weeks so Happy Anniversary.
As for Linda - I haven’t heard from her for a while - hope she is ok - I shall try emailing her later.
Right gotta go give myself my injection and then try to cook a nice meal for my OH in short stages. Shame that the weather has taken a turn for the worse - again! But the weekend is supposed to be better. Lots of love and hugs, chat drekkly Estelle xx

Back from my chemo day around 4pm. Ok at the moment , just have to go with the flow and should be over the worst by tues/weds.

I was quite assertive on Tuesday.Saw Dr Mckenzie. said I wanted appt. made for ct scan and surgeon now so its all arranged by the time I go for my final clinic before chemo on 7th July. Hopefully 3 wks later and get date for surgery 2 wks after that!
