Hi all
Julie C txs for info, discovered my little girl also had sore throat and ear so think i may have a touch of something although temp is fine, maybe because of antibotics.

Julie M wigs are free on NHS but I was told that if i wanted to go for a particular brand or style there is ‘upgrades’ but you would have to pay extra. So you may have been sold or recommended one of the ones that carry an extra charge. When i found this out i compared the NHS one to the freebie and couldnt see any difference, in fact i preferred the style of the NHS one. Sometimes they dont tell you this.
Yes Julie will be interesting to see if Tax is going to effect us differently, just as we’re getting used to FEC

Sally i take one Lansopranole each morn and its 30mg strenght and seems to do the trick, dont know if it comes in at higher strenght.
Big Hugs x

wigs are not free everywhere! its not to do with style but health authority!! some of us live in the wrong area!!!
Hope everyone is well, day 6 after 2nd fec and still tired but getting there!

Hi there A late entrant but can I join you! Following a Mastectomy for non-hormonal Invasive BC, I Started Chemo (FEC x 3 followed by Taxotere x 3 on 17th June so just had my second Chemo, hair fell out, shaved off, just getting to grips with bandanas! Sore gums throat infection, plently of antibiotics and the usual anti-sickness drugs so can appreciate where you all are! Counting the days until the last Taxo session (30th Sept!!) I am also on the Beatrice Trial so that will mean Avastin for 12 months but hopefully that won’t affect me so much we shall see! I have a 7 month old daughter who of course doesn’t have any sympathy for my tiredness bless her!!

Sorry to be short and sweet on intro but looking forward to e-nattering!

Donna

hI Donna

Welcome to the thread, but sorry that youve had to join us, but as you can see were all in the same boat here.

Im just about to have my 3rd FEC (on friday) then I also have 3 tax then 3 weeks rads and 1yr Herceptin.

I also had a mascetomy at the end of April. hairs also gone more or less shaved it a couple of weeks ago and am quiet happy wearing wig except when its hot then i wear a scarf.

Sorry to hear you also have had SE,we all seem to get them in varying degrees.not looking to froward to the tax but we just get on with it dont we ha ha

How are you coping with all of this and a 7 mth old too, i find it hard with 10yr and 13 yr old boys so my hat goes off to you.

take care

Luv Sally xxx

P.S

Rosiefff, thanks for the info i shall kepp in mind what your taking and if the omeprozole dosent do the job i’l ask for what your on…

Debs, glad to see your back in the land of the living , i was still tired on day 7 of my 2nd fec…and a bit tired still into week 2…

Mumszy, hope yur feeling better now too and the sickness has eased off some more

Evening all,
Its day5 after 2nd chemo and Ive felt ok today, sickness seems to have gone but replaced with indegestion again!! i take Lansoprazole 30mg which seems to help and I had cyclizine for the sickness this time as well as Ondansetron but I think I was just the same as last time with the puking, in fact it started earlier.
The wigs should be free, we dont have to pay prescription charges from 1st april this year, did you get your wig before then?? I would definitely ask!! I got back my VAT on the Beaubeau from America from customs and excise today, doesnt that make you feel good when you score one over Authority!!
Im moving next weds (22nd) so today Ive been panic buying in John Lewis sale, before I join the natives in Herefordshire and find that i cant buy things there…!!!
Would you believe it the seroma is back so got to take antibiotics and they removing fluid under ultrasound later on in the week…
deep joy… Anyone else find their joints ache or is it just coz im so old??haha!

Hi All,
Hope everyone is ok. I’m doing well 13days after 3rd FEC. I think I managed to crack a rib at the weekend, just by leaning over the table. This is the third or fourth time I’ve done it and it is very painful!
It means I can’t sleep on my front which is how i normally sleep- though I hardly sleep any how.I long for a decent nights’ sleep, it drives me nuts. Sorry hadn’t planned to moan.

Was wondering if everyone else still has their eyebrows and eye lashes.Thought they would have gone by now.Can they still go?

I paid for my wig but as you say Mumszy we get our precriptions free so we shouldn’t be paying.

Mumszy- sorry to hear your seroma is back, there’s enough to worry about without that as well. You must be really busy with your move.Bet you are excited.Hope it all goes well.

Welcome to the club Donna, everyone on here will help you with your worries and you will never be alone.

I’m off to Norfolk tomorrow for a few days so hope the weather improves. Nothing does me more good than walking by the sea-I just love it.

Good luck to those having chemo this week
love to all

morning ladies, welcome donna, we are about the same. My last tax is planned for 24th sept bring it on. I am day 12 after 2nd fec. Just dicovered another side affect ladies. it seems on day 11 at tea time i have the runs with cronic stomach cramps lasted 2 days last cycle so keeping everything crossed for today. Doing ok so far. also sore gums have been a problem this time. looks like SE are intensifying with each cycle, does anyone else feel the same?

Mumszy your not having an easy time of it are you, what with the sickness and now the bl…dy seroma.

Hi lisa, wish i only had 1 left but must say can’t believe how quick it is actually going.

Julie m soon be on your 4th, wow only seems 2 mins since we started. Hope your still doing good this time.

debs, you are coming out the other side now and schools out for you tomorrow, make sure you put your feet up and relax, put the planning to the back of the cupboard for at least a month…i will be checking.

Hope everyone is doing ok luv Pauline xxx

Hi ladies, hope everyone is ok.

Pauline I think the SE’s do build up - with me its more tiredness but I have FEC no5 next week - it does feel that it goes quickly in between blasts.

My Onc has cancelled my radiotherapy at end of chemo, without too much explanation so I am going to ask for an appt to check out why - someone has told me with rads you have 5% chance of tumor(s) returning to that area and without rads it increases to 30% so I want to know more on that one!

Welcome to Donna - we manage to keep our spirits up on here despite all our troubles so hope you find some lighter moments on here.

Hey Annie - I am in Norfolk so hope you have a good time here - its really hot today but rain forecast for later - where are you staying?? (still got eyebrows and lashes and thats after no 4!)

Mumszy glad you r back in the land of the living and good luck with yr move - very exciting for you.

Off to a free pampering session at the hospital next week - told you get about £60 worth of free products so its gotta be had! love to all xdebbiex

Glad were all making the most of freebbies if anyone deserves it we do , my nurse just told me about a charity that gives you and family a day out for patients up to the age of 40 so when I find out more will let you all know .

Pauling I kept all my eyelashes and eyebrows on Fec lost them on tax sorry …I think that has been one of the hardest things sounds made but I now look more ill in the face as have no eyebrows lashes ect .

Thanks Sally youve made me smile today I to now looked like a beach whale ,if bloods ok and can get hickman line sorted Were going to my parents caravan In Borth Wales so hope I dont get washed up on beach …lol
Lisa

LOL! Had to laugh at your 'runs comment, unfortunately I have the other problem!!! The worlds most painful constipation swollen tummy, having plenty of water but no help right now, just had a bloody good cry about it its soooo painful!

I agree so far the SE’s get more intense with each treatment, this is the first real few days I have been really low since the diagnosis, my positive mental attitude is waining a little this week!

D

Hi All

Welcome Donna I hope you find all this helps I know it has me. You look so young to be going though all this c**p. Must be really hard with a young baby.

Well I’m on day 13 of 3rd fec and am feeling very well. Apart from the dry mouth thing i am strugling eating dry stuff so evertthinghas to be with sauce or gravy. I agree that the Se builfd up as I have been tired for longer this time. I start Tax next thursday and am not looking forward to it. I am hopeing its about the same re SE’s. The hot flushes are easing of a bit now.
I have now lost nearly a stone(one plus in all this)Hope i can keep it of as was trying to loose it before all this started but never happened. I have gone right all all sweet stuff another bonus!!!
I got my therapetic band and it has helped no end wig feels a lot better. One of my freinds OH didnt realise that it was not my real hair made me feel really good. I still have eyebrows and lases hope they stay put, might have to get the super glue out to keep them!!!

Mumzy, Glad you feeling better apart from theat awful seroma, hope the packing is going ok. Dont go over doing it though.

Debs, How do you know they have cancelled your rads?

Must be realy nice to be able to say that the next chemo is my last. mine should be 3 sept. Fingers and toes crossed. God I cannot wait for that day.

Lisa. I only have to take steriods twice before tax and 1 lot stright after is that not normal?

Any way of to have a cuppa catch up later. Take care all and enjoy the good days. Marion xx

debs… did you have a WLE or Mx… as i understand that rads dont make any difference if you had a Mx but only improve recurrence rates after WLE.

hi donna im triple negative too and wanted to join the beatrice study but was exempt cos i had hormone positive BC 3 years ago.

Mumszy your moving on my birthday… hope you get settled in ok and hope your seroma goes for good this time.

annie have you had a dexa bone scan? if your are prone to breaking bones its a good idea to maybe get your density checked… hope your recovering now and enjoy your time in norfolk.

seem to have developed cording again in my right arm… the one affected by BC 3 years ago… wonder if its related to the chemo as thats the side im getting it and know it can give you crappy veins… had chemo bloods done today and hope im not still neutrapaenic for chemo on thurs.

love to all Lulu x

Hi Lulu, think your question about WLE was for me (?)- I did have a WLE . Tumor was 1.7mm and grade3. Had further op for better margins which were clear. It was after the bone mets were diagnosed that the Onc said that I dont need the radiotherapy as “we have moved on from that” - I need that clarified methinks. I will definitely find out before my last chemo in August and before I start the Tamoxifen - its all a bit of a lottery eh? The lady who told me about the percentages had an MX and same onc cancelled her rads - she questioned it and a specialist in rads has said she is now to have 3 wks worth and the onc isnt a fan and tries to put us off! GRRREAT!!! Will let you know what happens xx debbie xx

hi ladies, interesting about the rads, i had MX and am due to have 5 weeks of rads so will be interested what others views are on this one

Luv pauline xxx

Hello all
I keep thinking myself lucky that my SE are not too bad compared with all yours. Am day 6 of second FEC now and am working full time, the tiredness hasn’t been too bad this week. Maybe its the cos im still young (only 31) and haven’t got any children to worry about. Still suffering from tasteless mouth and blisters on hands/feet. Hair now thin, but liking all the different sorts of hats that are around at the mo and no one looks at you odd either as its summer.
I so looking forward to my last lot of chemo on the 29th Sept, have already said to my husband that we shall arrange a party to celebrate!!
Going to see my brother-in-law and his family in Kent at the weekend and staying away the night - looking forward to that  Hope the weather brightens up though.
Love
Julie C xx

Hi All,

this rads thing is rather interesting as everyones ONC seems to have different veiws on things, Im having 3 weeks of rads and my last chemo if all goes to plan is on 17th Sept, so theres a fare few of us finishing around the same time.

I had a bit of a shit night last night , havent cried so much for weeks, caught sight of me as getting out of bath and thought i just look hideious,BUT i know its not for ever, and lets face it things caan only get better on the looks front.Ok today though

Lisa lisa , i went for walk on beach on sunday, decided to have a paddle and saw a ship on the horizan suddenly change course and head towards me, so just to warn you that there in the area. LOL

Has anyone had problem with there complexion as my face has got dry, i have to plaster E45 on day and night and ive got all blotchey and spots under the skin…

Sally xx

Hi Debbie- My OH has a house right up on the north Norfolk coast in Holme next the sea.I just love it up there. Where are you?

Marion- you and I both finish on 3rd Sept-hoorah!!!

Lulu- I had a bone density done and I have severe oesteoporosis. Am on medication now but it doesn’t prevent broken bones. My age is in my favour and the fact that i haven’t had any major breaks.Just something else to worry about! Sorry to hear about your cording coming back, it’s a b----- isnt it?Hope you get your chemo on Thurs.

Love Annie x
