Lols, hope the rain stops for you. it is sunny here in Sussex and I have just returned from a 5 mile bike ride and have done my horses too!
Jacqui, I am a bit dim on all these drugs. What are the steroids for? Do you manage to get sleep during the day? How has your sickness and nausea been? I hope you have a good day. Are you on FEC, if so, which one? xxx

Well time to try and get some jobs done ironing etc as we go away tomorrow for my mums birthday just for one night but a change of scenery will be nice before I go to the bar on thurs.
Have a lovely day maisies whatever you are doing and catch you soon love debs x x
Feeling much better now thanks for the sympathy girls! The steroids I’m on are dexamethasone Gilly, according to my info they are anti nausea and to prevent allergic reaction to the chemo drugs. I’m her2 pos and 8/8 oestrgen plus grade 3 so I’m to have 18 herceptin 3 with tax then 15 on its own. I had Ec on friday 1st of 3. It’s a whole new terminology isn’t it? touch wood not been sick once and nausea goes off if I eat, as you said yesterday little and often!
Gonna make the most of the sunshine and dog walk I think now. Hope you get your wig sorted Angie whatever makes us feel better, I have some lovely expensive body lotion which I had never got round to using but read a tip to keep your skin well moisturised and I now smell amazing…quite appropriate eh Amazings? catch you later xx
Welcome RainbowRosie, hope you are feeling ok and enjoying what is left of pre chemo time. We are a good bunch, we share, we moan(when we need to) but most of all we support!
Ladies can I ask who got the cheapest sickness bands and where from please. I am stocking on my supplies for the event!!
Pendragon and Jacqui sad to hear you are not sleeping due to treatment. Hope you manage to get some rest today. Also hoping Chezza is ok.
Think it is a good job I am having the exploratory op next week as the the boob is all hard and it looks like i have a tennis ball under the skin!
Feeling fed up again today, I am in one of those can’t be bothered to do anything moods!
Gilly I think OH will be working in Brighton from around 19th August up until my chemo starts so if I get down there maybe we could meet up somewhere. I have told him I can’t cope with him working away when that starts and he said he wouldn’t anyway.
Have a good day ladies, hope at least some of you have more get up and go than I have today and do something nice.
xx
try amazon for cheap sea bans mine were just under £2.
Thanks Pendragon x
Dear Amazing Augusts,
I’m back from my holiday to face the music of chemo this week. You are all a very chatty lot. When I went away we were on posting number 101 and I come back after a week it is 629!
Much to catch up on. I will work my way through the group list and add-in the new additions to the group.
I hope those of you who started chemo last week are okay?
Best wishes,
Penny
Jacqui, I too am HER2 and 8/8 ER +, so a year of herceptin and 5 of Tam. All good fun ahead of us. I’m just hoping I dont get too fat!!
Sam, would be great to catch up if you come down. I start chemo on 20th, so hopefully I will be well enough. I hope the op sorts something out for you, I am glad I had mine off and that is has healed brilliantly
xxxx
Hi Penny, I hope you had a good holiday. Yes we are a talkative bunch hopefully giving each other a few shoulders to lean on, I’m also up this week for my first chemo and just not sure what to expect.
Does anyone know if 1 I am likely to be allowed to go abroad during chemo? I am having 6 sessions 3 weeks apart and just before my last one I am due to go to Cyprus in Nov, which was booked before this started.
Thanks debs x x x
Hello Whiterose,
Thank you - I’m updating the Maisies list even as we speak. It seems that you and I will be having the same chemo regime, starting on the same day - feel free to rant with me any time!
Best wishes,
Penny
Hi Debs,
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it is unlikely you will make your Cyprus holiday. There is no way of knowing where you will be on your chemo so far in advance. You may be lucky (as I was) not to have any delays, but sadly most of us do get delays because blood count levels are too low which means you have an extra week between cycles. It is also not a good idea to fly if you are in a low immunity period (planes are notoriously full of germs and people with germs) and at this stage you just don’t know where you will be. Your best bet is to speak to your oncologist. If you took out insurance before your dx you should get a full refund. xxx
Hello ladies,
penny I was feeling sorry for you having all this catching up to do! Hope you had a great holiday though?
Deb12 my onc said to stay out of the sun. Also you may have trouble getting travel insurance during treatment. I cancelled my holiday and have written off the next 12 months with a view to making up for lost time when I am out of this tunnel.
chezza did say she was thinking about going away for a few days so I hope this is the case and not that she is poorly - chez come back when you can and let us know how you are
welcome to all the new ladies, you’re amongst friends now
xxx
Hi,
Good to see you back Penny, I hope you had a fabulous time and relaxed. The group has definitely grown since you went away. I amy not start my chemo until Sept now as I am having another op on Friday as they think a blood vessel is leaking. But I will stay with the group.
Debs I thik what Lola and Tasha have said is true about your holiday. I know its apain I have lost two holidays beacuse of this and I didn’t have insurance so lost all the money too!
After such a good night out last night I have come down with a bump sure some of it is due to tiredness but missing OH. Roll on Tuesday. (Fingers crossed).
xx
Hi Maisie’s,
back reform a very wet gower show but enjoyed, nice to forget about bc for awhile.
Penny hope you enjoyed back to reality now Hun.
trying to research why im just having 6 sessions of TAC which is harsh regime and most of you having fec/ t, even on June thread people with more lymph involvement etc having fec/ t, worried they are not telling me something . I’m seeing bc nurse tomorrow so will be asking loads of questions.
glad most of you s that have started chemo aren’t to bad, remember to take anti sickness even if you feel ok and onc told me Friday that the steroids help a lot with the sickness.
soooooo tired now all that fresh air. Sam I hope OH gets home Tuesday it won’t be long.
Chezz are you ok? Hope your not chatty cos your busy not because your ill.
going to have a rest for 5. Bye for now xx ju
Welcome back Penny hope you had a lovely break? Yes I have had a 100 or so posts if I miss a day! Chatty lot we are. Mine were a pound in poundland but they are travel sickness bands rather than seabands. To be honest if you take your antiemetics exactly as prescribed you shouldn’t need them! My main issue, as you’ll have gathered is the lack of sleep. 1 more day of dex but sadly 2 more nights!
Had a lovely walk and an icecream and had the energyvto cook a nice dinner, day 3 of first chem…check! Days to do eh?
I hope they sort your wound out Sam that doesn’t sound very comfortable at all!
Jacquie xx
Dear Maisies,
Thank you, I had a lovely holiday in Orkney with my family. Slightly less energetic than normal but this week’s delay gave time for my wound infection to completely heal and was a great boost. Something to look back on when I’m dealing with the Chemo Demons!!
I have sat and read all your hundreds (literally!) of postings this afternoon. I have giggled over bandanas and chocolate Hobnobs; admired the gritty determination of all the Maisies to cope with whatever this disease throws at us and been shocked by Coco’s news. My heart goes out to you Coco, stay with us please as an honorary non-chemo Amazing August, we are all on this journey together.
Right, to practicalities: in the last week we have 22 new members (if ChrissyW and ChristineVW are two separate people?) and lost one – Maxie who I inadvertently added to the list even though she was just popping in from an earlier thread! In total we now have 39 members.
I hope that I have all your details straight – please let me know if there are errors or omissions on the list, or if you want your details removed from the list.
In the meantime, bloods tomorrow, PICC line fitting Tuesday, FEC1 chemo on Wednesday.
Onwards and upwards…
Best wishes,
Penny.
