Sorry lots of helps! I am very tired…Jacquie x
rainbowrosie, so sorry to hear you are having problems and you are in pain I hope they get to the bottom of it for you
Hi rainbow rose I have a lot of problems with swelling ( seroma) from ANC and wle had it drained for 3rd time last Tuesday and having it done again tomorrow. I was told last week by surgeon thisis very common and although uncomfortable( to be honest id call it more than that it’s painful!!! ) it’s nothing to be concerned about , easy for them to say I know. No painkillers help at all and I can’t get comfortable in bed as painful to move. I know that no ones the same but just letting you know that in my case they weren’t to concerned , hope you get it all sorted xx
glad your OH will be home for you sam.
just thought id share something with you all, i put a wanted on my local freecycle page today re wigs, i got lots of replies some no good but two ladies are being really helpful. one is quite away across town from me an i sed about not driving atm anyway she got chatting to me and i explained why i was looking for a wig anyway, turns out shes a part time model and has lots of fifferent wigs and has offered to come down to me with some so i can chose. cant thank her enough !!
rainbowrosie hope youre ok now, jacquie goodnight wishes to you.
goodnight maisies hope we all get some sleep xx
Evening Maisie’s am so glad to hear you enjoyed your hols, Penny I cannot believe there are 39 of us in the group, Thank you keeping me on the list!!! Sorry to hear you have had a horrible day Rainbowrosie hope tomorrow is better. Hope everyone has a good evening and night and all the best for anyone who may be having any appointments tomorrow, don’t think anyone is at the bar. Hope those of you who have started are not suffering from SE s too much. Good night all and speak tomorrow . Xxx
Dear Lols and Rainbowroise,
Sorry to hear that you are both having so much trouble with seroma - it is a horrible thing. I had trouble with seroma too and had to have my wound drained 5 or 6 times which was most uncomfortable as the wound site wasn’t numb as the bcn expected (ouch!). In the end I developed an infection which necessitated a trip to A&E on a Saturday night, but chunky antibiotics prevented the threatened re-admission to hospital and eventually I woke up one morning (4+ weeks after my op) and realised that the seroma had stopped developing overnight and over the next 24 hours my wound dried out too. It may not seem like it now, but the seroma will stop, although it may require a little further intervention, so don’t be afraid to ask your GP or hospital for help/treament.
You are in my thoughts.
Penny
Thanks penny I think mines slightly improved from las week how they can say its only discomfort beats me, perhaps they should try it!! Roll on tomorrow hopefully it won’t come back xx
Peaceful sleep, sweet dreams all Maisie’s xxx
Rainbowrosie sorry to hear you’ve spent the day in casualty - not a nice place to be at the best of times! Hope they get it all sorted out for you soon. Jacquie, hope you get some sleep tonight.
I have my radiotherapy planning appointment tomorrow and hopefully will also get the details of my chemo regime. It’s all starting to get scarily real now. It’s very quiet in my house at the moment as my OH has taken my two daughters (8 and 12) on holiday to France. It’s good for the kids and reduces the housework but does leave me too much time with my own thoughts.
Goodnight all, sleep tight
Katherine x
Hi Katherine good luck tomorrow with your appointment I know I was really scared before I went to find out when and what I was going to be having but felt a liitle better when I knew. Try and get a good nights sleep and we will be thinking of you tomorrow, sending a virtual hug your way.

georgina welcome i remember chatting to you in June on another thread, nice to see you again, shame its like this. Just looking at penny’s list how sad is bc, we are only a small example of just the ladies having chemo in August in the country, before this dx I didn’t realise how prevelant bc is out there, it’s very sad really .
ive two appts today that’s why I’m up early one at 9.30 not a bc appt how nice!!! And then a bc nurse appt for aspiration at 1.30 but in another hospital approx 40 miles away , getting expensive this bc crap!!!
Ys gone back to Cardiff so very quiet here and it seems tidy how much mess and chaos can one male make!!! He also cleared out my food cupboards and took it with him so il be fitting in a shopping trip too.
Right off for shower and hair wash whilst I’ve still got it, catch up later, still raining in South Wales. Have a good day all of you xx ju
Good morning Maisies, hope everyone slept well. My OH had a dream that I died and everyone was arguing about what to do with me. He now says I need to make a will, which I hadnt really thought about as I dont have anything to leave, but I guess I should do it really then it is all in writing. Another reality of this disease I guess.
Rosie, I am so glad we have been of some help to you, I love the support on here, we are so lucky to have eah other who understand when no one else can.

Morning Maises. Welcome to those who have joined our group since I have posted last. Katherine sorry to see you are having to do this a second time, any pearls of wisdom we will great fully receive. Rainbowrose hope you have a more comfortable day today and stay away from the hospital. Georgina sorry to hear you feeling so low, stick with us and we will try and help you out of the black hole. More new so the eyelash front. this is a post from the facebook young women with BC group
I’ve brought fake ones in preparation the amazing shine ones are great, just as good as mac but only £1.99 a pair. You can get them on amazon, I also brought duo eyelash glue as its really good. I love my eyelashes, just won’t feel like myself without something there. There’s a YouTube page for a makeup artist called pixiwoo- they do brilliant tutorials for everything makeup related x
the other chemo tips I learnt from my study day were all pretty much what we have been told already, drink lots of water, eat little and often. eat lots of fruit day before chemo apparantly thr anti nausea drugs make you really constipated. Do some exercise a short walk if you are really tired. Tip for mouth ulcers suck on fresh pineapple. Apparently some of the chemo drugs really affect the nails. One lady had been recommended to use dark nail varnish to protect the nails, although I have also read not to use nail varnish during chemo so maybe check first.
Those of you with appointment will be thinking of you and hope they go well, those of you not having to go to hospital hope you are doing something nice
Karen xx
Hi ladies feeling a bit wobbly this morning a weird feeling but I hope it goes away as the day goes on, hope you all have a good day xxxx
Good morning Maisies hope you are feeling ok ? Good luck everyone with appointments today , I am waiting for my wig appointment so I can get that sorted , I got told same Karen about water pineapple etc and they said whatever the se let them know and they will give me something for it and not to buy bonjela and Other over counter stuff. Regarding nails I have acrylic nails and was expecting to be told to have them removed but the chemo nurse said I was fine to keep them I get them done every 3 weeks and she said they will protect my nails and to put 2 Coats on my toes so that cheered me up . Hope you all have good says , raining here in worcs too x
Hi Maises, I’m a July J. Had my first sesh just over a week ago. Worse se was taste buds, like sucking on a battery. If you want a pictorial representation google cortical homunculus. Beforehand, several people kept saying drink lots of water, which, of course, I didn’t. On night 5 I was climbing the walls. Water water water ladies…
Hi Rose, hope you feel a bit better as the day goes on.
I am having my echocardiogram this afternoon, but am not worried too much. My ticker can be a bit dodgy so I hope all is good for treatment
xxx
Hi Gilly funny thing is I don’t feel I’ll but a bit shaky wired feeling it will be all the crap that’s been pumped into me. Lol drinking lots of water well a lot for me prefer my coffee, hoping to feel better tomorrow as I want to go to work luv my job, only just down the road and if I feel crap can come home I’ve. lovely manager and a good friend to boot so all good , just giving my lovely grandson his breckie, luv to all you ladies xxxx
Hi Rose. Would it be the steriods? Are you still taking them? They definitely make me feel just like you describe. Woke up this morning feeling like I’d got a bit of my mojo back, took a steriod and within 15 minutes was feeling weird and rubbish again. Hey ho!
Loads of appointments and goings-on today. Best of luck everyone with everything. Just getting one more piece in the jigsaw of this whole journey.
Katherine: Hope your appointments go well today. I’ll be in your position next week as my OH is taking the children off on holiday before my second chemo. I can imagine how you are feeling. Second time around for me too, so another similarity unfortunately. Are you a baker of cakes or more serious stuff like breads? Perhaps I should try breads - all that kneading would surely relief some stress!
Thinking of you all xx
