Anyone

Just an update as I had surgery last week, feeling bruised and sore however pleased it’s over. I did get a small win, any positive is good I feel at the moment… I was allowed to leave my toe nail varnish on! I know it’s such a small and insignificant thing on this journey, but it helped me psychologically get one victory. I honestly would be laughing so loud if anyone had told me this 4 months ago! All the best and good luck with the next stages xxx

Good morning

Pleased that your surgery went well and you are back home. Did you have a lumpectomy?

Yep any small win definitely feels good does it! One of the first things I did the day after I got home was to get my daughter to paint my toenails, I don’t think she could fully understand why I was so happy :joy:

Hope you continue improving and celebrating those small wins

Glad your surgery went well and you managed to keep your toe nail polish on (no mean achievement. When I got on the operating table I was asked why I had my shoes still on ! Felt a right twat but at least it gave them all a laugh . We could write a book between us !!!

Oh Sheelagh it’s a good job the surgeons and their team have experience of nutters like us isn’t it!

Whenever I had tests such as biopsy or mri etc I was told to put the gown on like a coat so I automatically did the same thing for the op. The lady in the anaesthetic room laughed and asked if it was back to front day. She then sent the anaesthetist out so I could put the gown on the right way without having everything on display. As soon as he came back in the surgeon followed and the gown was pulled down straight away so he could check everything. She said “well that personal time was worth it wasn’t it” and I don’t think the guys could understand why me and her just burst out laughing :joy:

I’m so pleased that you ladies are as batty as me!!

Hi, totally agree, anything to keep some normality. I had a therapeutic mammoplasty which removed the tumour and reshaped my left breast, the lump was in the lower part. I’ve got a scar around my nipple and vertically down, called a lollipop . I’m just relieved the surgery is done and fingers crossed results will be ok, won’t know for a few weeks :crossed_fingers::crossed_fingers::crossed_fingers::kissing_heart: Good luck to all of you x

So many funny stories ! When I had my first MRI I put the gown on the wrong way round. The radiographers asked me to do the ‘gown twirl’ . Was then mortified when I was told to drop my boobs into the two awaiting holes ! All I could think of from that moment was what the view would be if anyone was laying on the floor underneath . Couldn’t get out of there quick enough !!!
Not heard of the lollipop before……we are learning something new every day !! It’s good to be on this side of surgery. Keeping fingers crossed for you tomorrow Charlotte x

Omg I felt exactly the same about the mri, not exactly ladylike is it :joy: I wish there was a laugh emoji for some of these stories we are sharing, we’ve been from blue boobs to dodgy poo and back!

Thank you for thinking of me Sheelagh, I’ll let you know how I get on tomorrow evening when I get back home

Thank you for sharing, especially those funny moments. Has helped to know we’re not alone as we go on this journey. My surgery - therapeutic mammoplasty- is this Wednesday.

Well for scar shapes, mine is a belly button (not literally :joy:), had a socking great lump in it which is why surgeon was talking about about a 3rd op, thinking it was another haematoma, which caused my meltdown.

I’ve just seen her again and the fab news is that it has now healed externally (so no more dressings, whoop!), the lump has reduced a lot to such an extent she’s no longer concerned and I can go ahead with radio from next Monday. A big step forwards - phew! I now have to moisturise moisturise moisturise to prep it for that onslaught.

She then said I would have quite a scar when it’s fully healed but she could do some cosmetic work on it if I wanted. I replied with a polite “No thanks” when inside I was screaming “Get away from me you scalpel yielding witch!!”. She is lovely and didn’t deserve those thoughts but that’s how I felt :flushed:
It’ll be another battle scar to add to my collection :muscle:t2::stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: Maybe I’ll draw some googley eyes on it…

Awww Bella that has made me smile, especially the thought of you buying googley eyes to finish the scar off :joy:

So pleased that recovery is going well and so happy that you can start your radiotherapy. Did they recommend a moisturiser for you?

Lots of love

She recommended anything plain such as E45 :slightly_smiling_face:

How did you get on today?

Bx

There’s a really nice one in Superdrug that I was recommended for my scars, it’s their own brand one with hisbiscus.

Appointment is later this afternoon :crossed_fingers:t2:

Good evening ladies

I had my follow up appointment this afternoon and thankfully it was good news with clear margins in each lump area as well as in the lymph nodes  Being passed over to the oncology team now for radiotherapy and endocrine treatment with yearly mammograms for the next 5 years

Very relieved tonight :sparkling_heart:

Congratulations!! So pleased for you. That’s great news.

Sorry, I’ve just been catching up on here. Had another ‘stab ‘n’ suck’ today

Got in the shower this morning and my tumour wound opened up right at the end and another load old blood started tricking out…

Total meltdown!! Long story short: another trip to the hospital for a draining!
Good news is, it’s now not thick & sticky (a good sign apparently) and she spend ages trying to squeeze every last drop out of me.
I’m preying for a quiet few days :pray:

Anyway, on other subjects ladies: totally agree about the gown etiquette :rofl:
I tried putting my arm through the wrong bit and poppers everywhere!!

It’s a bit like trying to open an old style deckchair

Yes, I got to keep my knickers on too. Result!!

And one of the first things I did - when I could move, was contort my feet towards my hand to get some polish back on my ugly toes!… that was a hell if an achievement in my books.
I think I caused a hot flush doing it, but it was bloody well worth it!
:grimacing:
Small victories!!

Welcome new ladies :clap::clap:
You’ve just joined the mad house :crazy_face:

My gp gave me a sample of a cream called ‘ultra base’ which you can buy online. Not expensive. It’s aparently fantastic for radiotherapy. Very gentle on scar tissue.
I liked the sample so much, I ordered a big pump bottle for the bathroom.
Even my hubby loves it. He does his knees and elbows every night.
