Anyone

Morning ladies,
Here’s a shout out to all you boob babes on AI’s that aren’t getting enough sleep !

I read an interesting medical article about using antihistamines to aid sleep whilst on AI’s. They apparently don’t interfere with your meds and can help you get a better sleep.

A few of us are giving it a try and we will report back. I tried last night and definitely had a deeper sleep (could have just been too bloody tired, of course!). So, I’m going to give it another go tonight, and I’ll report back on this “anyone thread”, so you all get to see it, in the hopes that it helps more of us get a good nights sleep!

Happy Sunday fellow boob babes :kissing_heart:

We’ve all been there… but she’s going good. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Happy Sunday everyone… I’m heading out to do some deadheading…. Yes, I do mean roses and not the local councillors :rofl: (oooh, controversial )…

Right, secateurs and gloves… floppy hat, and on my way.

Hugs all round!! Xxxx

Great news! Thanks for letting us know x

Thank you. I started on Anastrozole on Monday. I already take an antihistamine in the morning so I might move it and see.

I’ve never slept well anyway due to loo trips and am still in post op recovery 8 weeks from mastectomy/DIEP flap so hard to tell what my normal sleep will be now. I’ll keep an eye out for how your trial goes x

Hi @tiamaria I’m on anastrazole too! How are you finding it, apart from the rubbish sleep?

I’ll keep you all posted on my progress with the antihistamine. If it helps, it’s an easy fix for us all :crossed_fingers::crossed_fingers:

Hi @misswoof-88. I’m only 6 days in. It’s hard to know if it’s had any effect yet. Had achy shins yesterday which is unusual. Really lethargic today but as I’m still healing it hard to say. Really hoping the joint and bone issues won’t affect me as I’m dying to get back to my fitness classes. How long have you been on it and any other issues apart from poor sleep? x

Hi @tiamaria, I’m on it for 5 years and started the same day as you lovie!

The sleep issue began when I came off of the hrt, at diagnosis :sleeping:and is not fun…

Like you, I’m really hoping for the best and expecting a bumpy ride early on but really praying that it settles down, otherwise it’s going to be a looooong 5 years!

So: it’s 3am and I’m awake :woman_shrugging: I think it’s safe to say the antihistamine isn’t working tonight. I woke up wet through- night sweats have returned. I really struggled with these prior to starting hrt years ago.
God!!…. I’m fed up… tired, sweaty, and I’ve got a funny taste in my mouth since starting these things… have you? It’s sort of metallic…

On the plus side- No muscle/bone probs though and I actually has a bit of an energy spurt yesterday, which was a welcome return. I actually got some jobs done in the garden- felt a bit more normal… so but if a mixed bag really. I’m trying to stay positive, but I really need more sleep!!!

Like you, I’m keen to get back to full fitness. I’m just can’t face the idea that I’ll be some brittle shell of myself in five years. Cancer returning and another lumpectomy/mastectomy, might start to seem like the lesser of the two evils, if that’s the case…I m using a cheap generic antihistamine, so I might look up the differences between the brands and try a few different antihistamines. I think it’s worth keeping with it and see if there’s a difference. I do feel like it easier to relax into sleep with them. I go off well, but I just don’t seem to be able to get past 3am. That said, I’m awake tonight because of the bloody night sweat :disappointed_relieved:

Anyway, I guess I’m tired, crabby, and a bit fed up tonight, so I’ll try and get back to sleep and see what the next few hours bring.
Please let me have another couple of hours- at least :pray::pray:

Hello ladies,
I feel a little less “axe murderer” this afternoon after managing to go back to sleep pretty quickly - and…. I slept in until 9am

I think the antihistamines ARE helping. Normally I’d never get back to sleep, but I seem to be able to drift back off fairly quickly despite waking up in the first place

So, to all you boob babes out there, not getting enough zzz’s - maybe give it a go??

What have you got to loose?:woman_shrugging:

I’m wondering whether or not to try taking two one night, and see what happens

As ever- I’ll keep you all posted :crossed_fingers::crossed_fingers:

Have a good day all :hugs:

Good afternoon ladies

I have a quick question re the antihistamine “trick” - does it work with Letrozole too?!? If so is there a particular brand which we should be looking at?

@misswoof-88 sorry to hear you had a bad night. I took the antihistamine at night along with magnesium and slept reasonably well between painful moves and loo trips! Will see how tonight goes.

It’s 11 months since I came off the HRT gel. My sleep did get worse then so I’m probably just used to it now. No metallic taste for me though. Hope yours goes away soon. I am also using cheap antihistamine. Will keep you posted.

It’s good to know we started at the same time. Would be good to keep in touch and see how we get on but it looks like it’s very individual so far doesn’t it. Sleep tight  x

Hi ladies, hope you are all well and recovering? I can’t believe it’s almost 7 weeks since surgery and whilst I sometimes look at my scars and cringe, I do feel as though I’ve adjusted and life’s getting sort of back to ‘normal’… fingers crossed :crossed_fingers:
I have my RT planning next week, for those that have been through this already could you let me know what to expect? How long does it take roughly and what do I need to take? I’ve read it can be a couple of hours? And the room can be cold? I’m moisturising as suggested, but probably need to drink more water and less wine (!) to be more hydrated. Welcome any other suggestions please  in preparation. I don’t have my RT dates yet and hopefully will get these at the appointment. Thanks and lots of hugs :hugs: xxx

I slept really well last night @tiamaria. Right through with no interruptions!

It’s actually the best nights sleep I’ve had in a while :woman_shrugging:.

So, maybe it was just a really muggy night on Monday and that’s what caused it? Who knows…

Yes, it obviously is an individual thing but it’s definitely worth sharing experiences. Anything that helps us all through this is worth it I think. I’ll keep you posted.

I definitely feel like it’s helping, taking the antihistamine at night, and I expect it will also help alleviate any aches & pains.

It sounds like a win win

@lottie73 hi Charlotte, yes lovie. It works with all AI’s . The study that I came across actually had some ladies on letrozole and it worked with most of them.

The trial used Claritin, which is loratadine. I’m using a generic one but it’s loratadine too. :crossed_fingers::crossed_fingers:

Fingers crossed!

Got mine tomorrow lovie. I’ll let you know :kissing_heart:

@misswoof-88 that’s great to hear. Amazing in fact. I’ve never slept through in years!!

I was up 4/5 times but did sleep well when in bed. Really just sorry out the loo issues! I am on the other antihistamine (hydrochloride cetirizine or whatever!). Might try your one. x

@amafoss65 no radiotherapy for me in the end but wishing you as smooth a ride as possible xx

Hi

I think the lotradine anti histamine is the drowsy one, like you I take cetrizine which doesn’t make you drowsy.

I’m on Letrozole and have lots of issues but thankfully sleeping isn’t one of them. I’ve also been prescribed oxybutinin for hot sweats and it seems to be helping me with that, with the added bonus of helping with my bladder, so that’s a bonus for me.

Hope all is going well on your journey

Xx

I have my RT planning appointment tomorrow too!

Hiya, I have my RT planning appointment tomorrow but no idea as to how long it will take.

I’ve been told I’ll need a CT scan and then the tattoos marked once they’ve worked out how the radio will be administered. My oncologist said thecappointmeng depended on how quickly they could could get the right area :woman_shrugging:t2:

Happy to let you know tomorrow xx
