Apri 2016 chemo starting? Please join!

Anyone else struggling with the heat? I’m boiling all the time now and cannot sleep it’s so hot xx

I am the same Sarah. Xx

We’ve been and got a portable air conditioner for the bedroom as I can’t cope with this, apparently tamoxifen has same impact so it will be very useful! We had loads of work done last year in the house and it super insulated and now it’s like an oven xx

Hi ladies
Just popped in from may thread. I had my first T and herceptin 10 days ago after three fec. Im only just starting to feel " normal"…whatever that is! Just wondering if its normal or should i call and say how ive been? I had diarrhea from day 1 … I stuck with it until day 3then took immodium and dioralite to rehydrate me. The worst thing though was constant tummy cramping…went to docs day 6 and got buscopan which only realy took the edge off the discomfort. Also oral thrush. Oh and this mega annoying crusty bloody nose is getting on my nerves! Apparently something to do with platelets.
Im also on gcsf Injections btw. Got my next on August 5th and am really dreading it.
Just wondering…should i call n tell ward before next treatment? Or is there nothing they can do really?
Tina xx

I’ve just finished chemo, also had the hideous stomach cramps and oral thrush every time. Got buscopan too and they told me there’s nothing stronger, but you should get something for oral thrush it won’t go away itself. After I got it the first time they prescribed me nystatan (I think, something like that) to take every time. Doesn’t stop it but it’s not got as bad xx

Number 5 went ahead as planned Helly. So far all ok. Tired and achy but otherwise mangeable . How are things with you? Lou x

Hope all goes well and straight forward on Wednesday Helly. X

Fantastic Helly hope the side effects are minimal for you. Xxx

Had final chemo yesterday so pleased it’s over. Cannula in first time so another bonus. Hoping side effects are minimal. Have had 2 of my 18 herceptin injections so still have to visit the chemo unit every 3:weeks. Radiotherapy starts 20th September with initial planning appointment 7th September. Have managed to work from home since Chemo started and now looking forward to going back to the office on the 30th August. Initially diagnosed Feb 1st lumpectomy 22nd Feb didn’t get clear margins and 1/3 nodes affected. Had skin saving mastectomy with immediate implant and full node clearance 23rd March and told I was cancer free and no further spread to the nodes 7th April. It has been an emotional and at times challenging journey but I feel I am now through the worst. I have cold capped and probably lost 50% of hair but during the docetaxol treatment it has started to grow and I have managed without a wig. This forum has been a great sense of comfort and whilst I don’t post as often as I dId orginally I do read all the posts and am amazed at the strength we all have in dealing with this cruel undiscimatory disease. Good luck to all those on the start of the journey you can do this. Lou xxx

Thanks Helly. Hope Rads is kind to you keep me updated. Light at the end of the tunnel for us. Love Lou xxx

Hi Lou and helly, well done Lou you made it! I’ve had rads planning start next Tuesday 15 sessions. I’m told for those who have had chemo rads is a walk in the park let’s hold so for all 3 of us. Just now planning a diet to lose the gained chemo weight there’s always a new challenge ?? xx

Hi Sarah yes I have heard the same re Rads apparently takes longer to get undressed and dressed than the treatment. Plenty of moisturiser required in addition. I have put on about 10lb but have been really good since Wednesday and hoping to shift a few pounds this week. I think some of it is water retention. How us your hair doing Sarah my thinning scalp is growing back and the bits above my ears. But I did get a thinning patch right across the front of my hairline following Round 5. Eyeslashes appear to be coming back through or perhaps that is just the remnants of what I did have. Got some wonder brow to fill in the sparse brows. Lou xx

Hi Lou yes my thinning patch is regrowing too which I’m pleased about and eyelashes. I’m brow filling as well. I’ve put on about 20 pounds so now starting a serious diet and exercise programme. Let’s hope radio is kinder to us xx

Fingers crossed Sarah. X
