April 2024 chemo starters

It certainly does help & am here anytime. I had 16mg steriods via drip & now on 8mg at home. Ive got 1 mouth ulcer & can feel the skin different in the inside off the front off my mouth (like ulcers could be pending :roll_eyes:) & also the slight taste of metallic :face_with_peeking_eye::face_with_peeking_eye: but watery mouth has calmed down & ive managed a banana sandwich (its what I wanted) plus drinking more today than yesterday so hoping this will help. Heads still floaty but not sore now, just feel like things are changing on an hourly basis. Thinking a little disco nap is in order very soon, but will see how I go as. L x

Oh is this what causes it ? My head was so cold/cool for hours afterwards & at one point last night my legs where cool to touch but not cold ? Just figured it was everything going through me. Glad to hear your doing good a few days on from me. L x

Yes @ivegotthis01 disco naps are the way forward! Sounds like we had the same I had the drip bit too I’d forgotten! I’m just being lazy today just done my pegfilgrastrim injection. Last time I did them and 24 hrs later I didn’t know why I ached so much but apparently this is very common so don’t worry if it happens just load up on the paracetamol. Enjoy your nap!

Thank you everyone for your wishes. I was clinging onto every nice supportive thing anyone had said to be able to go through the door. Had a lovely nurse for the PICC fitting and she took my crying in her stride. Was not the most pleasant experience and my arm is still pretty sore, but it was over quickly and I got to stay lying on that bed for half hour afterwards which really helped calm me.
The chemo was soooooo different to last time. It’s hard to imagine just a reduction in steroids could make sure an impact. But sure enough I had no bad reactions, all totally boring and uneventful and done in about 2 hours

Glad to hear everyone is coping well or as well as they can with their chemo. I found manukau honey good for sore Mouth and throats. Also used Calgel in my gums. Plenty of water seems to help and take anti sickness tablets for as long as you need them. I didn’t take them after 4 days and oncologist told me last week to take them as needed and not to suffer nauseous. Hope you all have a nice weekend, long May the sun stay out. I’ve bloods on Tuesday and hopefully next cycle of chemo on Wednesday. I’m hoping not delayed as I keep thinking the sooner I continue the sooner I finish it . Take care everyone :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Aren’t they just :smiling_face_with_three_hearts::smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Glad to report I had a better sleep last night, only up twice for a wee & woke another twice but turned over :partying_face:

Any advice on making the Laxido drinks any better ? Mine smell like orange but definitely do not taste like it - can I put diluted juice in it ? Or take senna instead ?

Hope you all have a great Saturday xx

Pleased about the sleep. It does make everything feel better if you manage some rest (not easy when dosed up on everything!!)
My doc suggested Senna and that’s just a tablet so no taste to deal with.

Hi @ivegotthis01, my daughter takes 1 of these everyday ( IBS) she always puts diluted in it. Mostly blackcurrant xx

For those that have a PICC line, how long did it stay sore at the insertion site for? Mine was done yesterday morning and is still really quite painful if I touch it even lightly through the sleeve thingie and a jumper. Hoping it’ll reduce but thought I’d ask you knowledgable ladies?!

Fabulous, I will try this tomorrow. Thank you xx

@isthisreal mine was sore to touch for the first week, certainly after the first dressing change and flush, but it does settle. I’m still bruised 2 and a half weeks later!!!

Hi, I hope everyone is doing ok? My hair is falling out in my hands, my hairdresser keeps telling me not to shave it as it might just thin out but having it fall out is pretty dire. But they were quite keen for me not to. I wondered what others have done?

Funnily enough I just asked a question on another page, I’ve just had my first EC, after having a reaction to docetaxal before. No hair loss yet but know it should start soon. How long did it take? My hairs very fine and silky and starting to feel very rough in texture. I can imagine if it’s falling out loads it must be tempting to cut it all off. I wonder why they advise you not to? Hope you are OK H xx

Morning @ivegotthis01 I had a much better sleep managed 5 hrs although I think the steroids are making me more hyperactive than normal almost manic in away or maybe that’s my normal crazy self :joy::crazy_face: don’t feel too bad but worried how I will feel tomorrow when I stop the steroids. Hope you’ve had a good night and your PICC line starts to feel less sore H xx

@isthisreal my picc line took a good couple of weeks to settle down. It was bruised for a while but now 3 weeks on I don’t notice it is there. Initially I panicked because it kept leaking round the entry site and went to the hospital to have it cleaned a few times. They told me it would take a while to heal and they were right. Hang in there - it will be worth it!

Hi @mlp74, I had my hair cut short before I started chemotherapy. 2 weeks after 1st cycle it started to fall out if I even touched it and within 2 days I had lots of baldy patches. I got my husband to shave the rest all off and it’s the best thing I done. I hated the baldy patches more than not having hair xxx
