April 2024 chemo starters

I’m confused - I’ve just had a phone consultation with the oncology reg and he said I needed my COVID jab 1-3 days post cycle as that’s when my bloods best, and COVID vaccine more effective then, not midway between 2 cycles :thinking:so I’ve changed it again

Oh that’s good to know @gromit12 as I asked my GP and she said she didn’t know

You might want to look at the Feb chemo thread salbert has found a great wig and posted photo and where she got it  also check out raquel welch wigs not sure if qvc still going but worth a look too maybe :crossed_fingers::two_hearts::two_hearts::sparkles::sparkles:Shi xx

I got my covide & pnemunococle (however you spell it) 10 days before I started treatment, was supposed to also get the flu jag but none available in Edinburgh :face_with_peeking_eye::face_with_peeking_eye: but got told I didn’t need it if I had already got the covide jag - confused but there we go, sounds like everywhere is different

Today’s been a day off 1st for me, I’ve had my 1st chemo session (EC) & I’ve done cold cap (boy was that cold) especially about 20 mins at the end, however I’ve done it & only 7 left :partying_face:

I’ve had a snooze & woke with sore teeth, the dull headache, feeling sick & the start off an achy body. I’ve had anti sickness meds, took my temperature (its normal) so I’ve popped 2 paracetamol & trying to drink loads to help flush it through (also red wee, which I was warned about) apart from this, am feeling not too bad but am also feeling VERY proud of myself.

Not looking forward to the steroid jags, but I’ve been given numbling cream (cause I’m a whimp :face_with_hand_over_mouth::face_with_hand_over_mouth:) so if I can’t do it without this at least I have it here ready.

Hope everyone else is doing ok

@ivegotthis01 yes you are right to be super proud of yourself - that’s a heck of a day and it sounds like you handled it brilliantly!!Well done. 1 down!
Oh and if you haven’t tried it, I have found that ginger & lemon tea helps with the nausea.

@ivegotthis01 well done, you’re through session one :+1: drink lots and take the meds they tell you to. The jabs are not as bad as you think they will be, and think of them as producing all those white blood cells you need to fight off any infection, and keep you safe and at home. Hugs :hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs:

My PICC line fitting and second EC today. Very nervous after what happened at last one and the week that followed. Hardly slept. They’re reducing the steroid dose as they think that was my main problem.
Positive vibes please

How are you this morning ? Ive seen every hr or 2 last night as was up for a wee then feel I took ages to get back to sleep. Been up since half 7, had a cuppa some porridge & my 1st lot off meds. Heads a bit “floaty” & teeth a slight soreness but nothing major, going to keep the fluids up today & see how I go.

Hope everyone has a good day, ps the sun is out in Edinburgh so may try a wee walk :sun_with_face: xx

Morning! I was the same slept about 3-4 hrs bad headache. Mouths sore but then was from the docetaxal. However at least the steroid dose isn’t as high I’ve been given 8mg dexamethasone, when I was on the TC I had to have 16mg! It’s a funny time isn’t it as you sort of worry about what is going to happen and how you are going to feel! It’s nice to talk to someone at the same point as me! Hx

Good to see everyone seems to be doing ok. I’m on the third day post EC round two and so far seem to be alright. Had a bit more nausea than last time but tbh I think that was caused by the cold cap which was almost unbearable this time! Can definitely recommend a picc line - now mine has settled down I don’t even notice it is there and it makes the whole chemo process and giving blood so much easier!
