Hi @mlp74 Im sorry to hear that you’ve had a rough few weeks. It’s a tough old journey both physically and mentally and you are doing so well. I’m still awaiting for all my crazy turbans to arrive, my kids couldn’t stop laughing when I showed them! when they arrive I will post some photos to cheer everyone up! Big hugs to you Helen x
Note to self - do not go out in over head hoodie when wearing wig, if it’s likely to be warm, as how do you get said hoodie off without pulling wig off at same time!!
Oh no you have to laugh don’t you!! I can just imagine the dilemma! I will make sure that I don’t make that mistake! My hairs starting to fall out a bit but not much and I haven’t coldcapped so just waiting now. My turbans and wig is already! Hx
Thanks @jessie2 and welcome to the April chemo starters, the ladies on here are wonderful, helpful, supportive and also have fabulous sense of humours, which is so helpful when or if you’re feeling a bit crap which we all do from time to time, all here for you should you need us
I have been told now to take either day before or day off chemo. I’ve asked for an alternative as I really canny stomach the Laxido (it tastes disgusting no matter what I try to do too it) so I’ve been given dioctyl tablets instead hoping these will be easier than the drink, its 2 tablets per day & they are about paracetamol size so no issues, will start these tonight
Starting to loose body hair (will save me shaving etc) & Starting to go thinner at the sides off my head that’s even with cold cap, however I’ve been told that even if i go balder, cold cap can still happen, they will put a surgeon cap on to create a barrier, if I can tolerate it cold cap can still happen - how have you been xx
Hope all goes well for tomorrow xx
Hope everything goes well tomorrow, might be good to give picc line a rest xxx
I’ve lost all hair on body except bottom of legs, was hoping that would be first to go but still hanging in there. Laxido is really turning my stomach think I’m going to change xxx
Today the unit was busy, however 2nd EC done & lasted the time with cold cap (however the pain was hard going with an hour to go) but I rode it out & managed it am now half way through my red devil cycle & feeling ok about it.
I’ve managed some soup & fluids, heads fuzzy & anti sickness had to be taken, however I’ve got mouthwash, omeprazole & dioctyl this tim along with the standard steroids, anti sickness & injections- hopefully all this makes this time abit easier
Feeling wired from the bag off steroids so its way too early for bed just now.
Anyways, hope you’ve all had a good day. For those starting treatment today, hope its went well & you get a good rest etc.
For those starting tomorrow good luck, I hope it goes well.
Night night guys xx
Thats how I felt & they gave me dioctyl (there’s seamingly 2 types I could have got) its worth a try as am just about sick every single time.
Hopefully they can give you something else & it works for you.
No hairly legs it bliss, but rubbish your only half legged, there’s still time tho, either that or go half & half & start a new trend I’ve heard hairy is the way forward (p.s am patchy just now & trying to rock this look) xx
@ivegotthis01 Im pleased to hear what you’ve been told about the cold cap continuing despite your hair loss, I’ve been wondering myself. Although my hair loss has slowed down, I now have clear hair loss patches at the top and back of my head My scalp is very tender but I’d do still have hair Having gone through 3 x cold cap, I’d now be sad to give up, especially given what I’ve read about the protection it offers the follicles, aiding re-growth (whenever that happy day arrives!)
Good to hear that your second cycle went well, another one done
Hi all, I’m reaching out for some advice please? Anyone else jd blisters whilst on ec? I’ve one thst it on the sole of my foot, quite large and it’s stopping me from even getting a walk outside now! Any magic solutions out there? Sorry to sound so pathetic over a blister but round three is kicking my arse these last few days and a walk would be so good!
I hope you managed to get some sleep despite the steroids, people do not understand how hard it is to sleep on these dosages! Fingers crossed the new drugs help too. H x
Oh no that’s rubbish, I don’t know of any magic answers medically but for blisters have you tried the compeed plaster range they make blisters a lot more bearable. I’d probably see what your BCN says she may have some better suggestions. Big hugs H x
Morning ladies, so pleased your treatment and cold cap went ok yesterday @isitreallyme and hope you managed some sleep last night and have as good a day as possible today, @mlp74 the blister sounds awful and couldn’t be in a worse place for you, sorry I haven’t got any advice for you , hope the compeed plasters help
@belle1 hope today goes well for you,
That’s sounds terrible, there’s so many different side effects to chemotherapy so hopefully someone else on here can help, check palmar plantar syndrome as it’s a side effect of some chemo. I’m day number 2 looking like Ribena man I’m now thinking it’s one of the anti sickness tablets as it happened after surgery and first chemotherapy. Is anyone here on AC chemo with ribena man face lol. Xxxx
Great to hear your cold cap is going well, I wasn’t able to have this so it’s good to hear it working for people.
Steroids really buzz you up first night, I hardly slept but last night slept a full 7 hours. I forgot about those fuzzy heads and nauseous. Dr told me to make sure to use anti sickness tabs for as long as needed and not to be suffering it. I think it’s trial and error as we go along, but glad you’ve another ticked off xxx
Good luck to everyone having chemotherapy today. Thinking of you all xxx
@ivegotthis01 your side effects seem so similar to mines and I’ve got the same things for this time too☺️ my chemo is going ahead today so I feel better prepared for the side effects too with the extra stuff! Am I right in saying you’re at the Western General for yours? I get my chemo at St John’s☺️
@mlp74 that sounds awful - hope you can ease the pain and get a walk soon!
