Both hospitals I’ve had chemo at also use this book
Thanks ladies, I’ve got my pre chemo session weds so hopefully will get it then x
Well done @gerbera1 sounds like you did great. I hope you sleep tonight x
@sunshine17 - my husband has made a spreadsheet to record all my symptoms including 2x daily temperature readings. It’s his sort of thing and keeps him happy! I said if he wants me to fill it in he’ll have to print it out, but he’s decided to ‘survey’ me each day and fill it in himself. We’ll see how many days we manage before I say ‘how do you think I feel?’
Hi ,
Did you have to have a heart scan too? Did you get your pre chemo session after this? I am still waiting for my appointment.
I have been reading all the posts and the side effects look scary!
Thanks
@fowkey72 the nurse phoned me the week before last to arrange a heart scan for tomorrow then a blood test and talk about the chemo on wed before i start chemo on Fri, that’ll be when i get the wig voucher and I assume how to prepare myself for chemo. Everyone keeps asking me about Friday but I won’t know anything till Wed! Its all very last minute and I assume yours will be the same. I understand tests can only be done a few days before but think a lot of other prep can be done earlier.
lol!!! That’s great
I had oncology last Tuesday to tell me the chemo plan/drugs. Then bloods a couple of days after, echo (heart scan) and ecg the Thursday, dental X-ray ready for dental assessment the weds, picked up my pocketed bra on the Friday as got my prosthesis last week too, today I’ve had the dental appt (got teary as need a scan as they can see something that I can’t feel, and then got to see them again, and that stupidly felt a bit too much!). Tomorrow picc line, weds pre chemo session, thurs car MOT! Next Tuesday hair cut short, weds start chemo… It all has felt really full on but necessary x
Yes I relate to this too. A week full appointments last week - echo, dentist, haircut, chemo pre-chat, port assessment, port fitting, blood tests and numerous other calls to get info or just to try and prepare as best I can.
I would def chase your appointments if you haven’t heard. Not something I would usually do but my millennial daughters urged me to. It paid off as a couple of appts were given me then and there and it helped to speed everything up, including my chemo start date. Its hard to do though…xx
My first chemo this afternoon. I have plenty of time to get ready but as I’m still pottering around in my dressing gown I’ll probably still have a last minute rush…
Good luck xx
@lizn1 all the best for later
Hey,
You sound very organised and your hospital is on it too! My hospital is Derby and my other appointments have been quick, except the pre chemo meeting. Sounds like we are both counting down to next week and first treatment. xx
@lizn1 good luck xx
Hi all
Officially an April chemo starter now. Found out this morning that my first EC will be next Fri 25th in the morning. I am cold capping too. Have 3 rounds of EC and then 3 of docetaxel with Herceptin and the herceptin continues for a year. I am HER2 positive only. Small tumour but grade 3. Already removed so all of this is preventative. I really don’t want it back.
Looking forward to getting to know you. I have already learned a lot and had great support in the HER2 forum.
Hopefully you guys who are doing it with me can help me be brave ( and listen when I am not!)
Xxx
Good luck this afternoon. We’ll be thinking of you. Let us know how you got on when you can.
Welcome @hoggie. It’s all quite overwhelming isn’t it. I had my first EC yesterday. It’s true what previous ladies have said, your pre chemo anxiety does dissipate once you get going. Just take one day at a time, everyone has a different experience so one size doesn’t fit all. Great all round advice can be found on this thread and many others on here. Good luck and reach out if you need anything.
I took myself off to bed at 9pm last night and took 2 paracetamol and an anti sickness tablet just in case. Managed to get some much needed sleep. Feeling OK so far today but I know it’s early days.
Hair still in tact …
It’s our wedding anniversary today so a good time to remind my husband of his “in sickness and in health” vows.
@gerbera1 happy anniversary
