I start my chemo 16 April (tomorrow).
TC-PH HER2 +
18 weeks. Then surgery. (potentially radiotherapy).
I had some conflicting information about using a cold cap, so I cut 8 inches off the length of my hair to help lighten the pull. It’s still long. I guess this is why head hair loss is a huge thing for me after getting my diagnosis. I just wanted to know if anyone else was doing the cold cap. And ALSO, what herbs and spices you know to avoid. I was looking forward to making some cajun chicken or garlic chicken tomorrow but looks like that isn’t advisable
Happy anniversary! Good you’re feeling well so far x
Hope it goes ‘well’
Yep counting down with nerves and trepidation!
Ah yes I hope we will all help each other through it somehow, I’m sure we will!
Hmm I’ve not heard or been told anything about herbs and spices. Except tumeric.
Let me know if you find out. I LOVE Cajun food!!
I’ve not been told to avoid any foods or spices. I now only have red meat once a week though
Happy Anniversary! Hope you can do something “in health” again soon xx
Thanks everyone and welcome to @hoggie and @darkchild
Well I’m back. It was all quite quick. Had to wait an hour for the anti sickness drug akynzeo to kick in then 4 syringes of EC over about 20 mins. Then home
Feel a bit woozy/drunk which may be the akynzeo - its a listed side effect.
I was told to avoid anything unpasteurised products like probiotics. Brie & camembert. Blue cheese like stilton & Shropshire Blue. Runny eggs. All meat well done.
Well done! One ticked off. Amazing.
Hope you get done sleep tonight
Xxx
have the herbs and spices, Ive lost my taste (2nd round EC) and the spice is all I can taste, if you have a sore mouth then the spice may irritate it more
Check this out ladies.
Bees of Britain
Rich Bee Balm 50ml
Amazon £13.99
Many of us have bought or are thinking about buying polybarm for our nails during chemo (& beyond). I know it’s expensive @ 49.99 (2x8ml) but I bought a packet as a one-off. Anyway I decided to research the ingredients on the back of the box with a view to making up my own more cheaply in the future and came across this product. It’s very very similar to polybarm. I’m going to order it, so will let you know what it’s like.
I just bought 3 packs of polybalm as you get 3
20% off so cost me £120! Also bought couple things from Annabandana and i saw a nice summer cap from Masumi which is £45, now looking at silk pillowcases from Amazon, so far costing me over £200!! And i assume there’ll be other stuff to come, honestly as if having this isn’t bad enough
The cost can quickly rack up can’t it.
If you meet the criteria, Macmillan can give you a £300 grant.
Happy anniversary! Yes defo a time for a reminder of vows! Glad you got some sleep
Well done! Hope you get some sleep and feeling ok now
Anyone else got this…and what’s the solution?!
Been told no blood pressure taking on mastectomy side, had 32 nodes out. Had PICC line put in today and it’s on the other side! (Bit sore at moment, hoping it’ll settle) So where are they gonna do my Blood pressure? Thigh?
They can do it above your ankle.
Thank you @lizn1, is good to find a support group going through the same
