I’m not really sure what your meant to do, my hairs almost all gone and found myself shampoo and conditioning it on Saturday then laughed at myself as I’m sure it didn’t need it! I’ve been using either rosemary oil or cetreban moisturiser on it as found it was quite dry from where I’d not washed it as much etc when it had just started shedding

Has anyone else cut back on red meat and processed meats?

Hi all,

Is anyone here triple negative? I’m 39 and due my 6th chemo infusion tomorrow of carboplatin and paclitaxol (I have them weekly). I’m also having Pembro every 3 weeks. I am having a lot of hot flushes and wonder if the chemo is causing early menopause, is anyone else experiencing similar please?
I’m also getting a lot of blood when I blow my nose?
I can’t wait for the next 6 months to pass by :see_no_evil:

Hi @yikes1. Sorry to hear of your triple negative diagnosis. I’ve gotten off lightly in comparison with a hormone receptor positive one. Good luck with your treatment. I get a lot of hot flushes at night which will only be worse when I start getting injections to shut down my ovaries (I’m 46, pre menopausal).

I’m phoning tomorrow to see about getting a line fitted as I’ve developed such a massive anxiety about cannulas and needles. I know there are risks with the lines but the biggest risk for me is stopping treatment early because I can’t hack it.

@stafford22 I’ve been vegetarian (pretty much vegan as I don’t eat dairy or eggs) for years yet I’ve had weird cravings for meat in the last few days! I’ve upped my protein intake to see if that helps.

Thank you for replying, I have a picc line. It’s been ok especially since they struggle to take blood or put cannulas in me but I have developed an allergic reaction the dressings so I’ll see what they say tomorrow.

My sister is a nurse and said she’d rather have a port put in but I didn’t want to have to be put to sleep for the procedure. I hope they are able to help you, it definitely isn’t pleasant being poked and prodded all the time!

I did the Look Good, Feel Better skincare and makeup workshop yesterday and it was lovely. Came home with a massive bag of makeup (my 14 year old daughter was very jealous). Also got talking to some lovely women going through treatment. Was nice to be able to discuss lipstick shades and hair loss PICC Lines in the same conversation! Gave me a little buzz. Though that could be the steroids

@yikes1 I had a port installed and they did it under local anaesthetic. I was in and out in under an hour. It’s the best decision I’ve made. Cannulas for me were not an option as my veins are trashed and I wasn’t keen on having a PICC line. The port is so easy, it’s under the skin so you almost forget it’s there. I would definitely recommend that you have a chat with your medical team and push for it if it’s right for you.

It’s such a good course isn’t it and the bag of goodies is great!

That’s so strange having a craving for meat isn’t it. I’m cutting out red meat but still eating chicken x

@greenqueen @stafford22 you’ve both restored my sanity. I’ve been vegetarian for years and never even fancied meat! Yesterday I found myself looking at bacon in the supermarket. I think my brain is just desperate to taste something other than dry, metallic! I ended up buying veggie ‘ham’ which I’d never normally want.

@carrie5 haha, I’ve just driven through the Starbucks drive thru and got myself a vegan sausage sandwich. Total junk food craving! I’m normally quite a healthy eater. I haven’t been as bad this cycle for the metallic taste, was awful last time around. Couldn’t even stand my lovely Scottish tap water!

I cut processed before getting diagnosed but for red meat is good to have it but in small portion.

Hello, I have a port and I didn’t sleep while they put it. They give you some sedation but not strong one.

The port is good but because of chemo my stitches coud not heal as fast and became bit inflamed so now on my 3d found and the IVAS team check on it every week.

I would like to attend one especially as I never drawn eyebrows

Just wondering if anyone has had a spring COVID vaccination, I think I’ve seen posts where some of you got them pre chemo start. I didn’t get offered before I started but just been offered today and am wondering about timing. I’m almost halfway through weekly Paclitaxel, I will ask at my chemo session tomorrow, I think its ok to get the vaccination as its not a live vaccine but I just wondered if anyone had experience of timing. If I wait the six weeks until Ive finished this first phase (then on three weekly herceptin) it will no longer be available! Any experience anyone?

How did you get on? I am allergic to tegaderm products, so they use something called IV 3000 dressing/sticky cover for my picc line and I’ve not looked back. I have awful veins and ws so apprehensive about the PICC but so far so good. :crossed_fingers:

I managed to get mine before I started chemo. Ithink technically you can get them whilst having however treatment however i felt really ill with the covid jag for a couple days after so I definitely wouldn’t have it after starting chemo just in case you get side effects too, and nothing worse on top of chemo.

Hi all

Had a bad/sad couple of days and it is all down to hair falling out. I am cold capping I expected some shedding even so but it is just so upsetting. It is not even vanity, it’s just the weirdest thing when you see hair all over the place just falling out of your head. It makes me feel very low, more than the op or chemo or anything else. I suppose it’s the undeniable truth that this is really happening. I am on day 18. Back for chemo no 2 on Friday.

Just wanted to vent a bit.

Xxx
