I’ve been on hold for 1 hr with the hotline.
Well done phoning them. They will give you good advice and they will let you know if you need to go in x
Let us know what they say x
Just spoke to them. They said it’s normal chemo and plus the fact I’m fighting a cold.
this is hard and only day 0
That’s what they said to me, that it is chemo causing it. Hopefully tomorrow will be an easier day x
@saints33 keep taking your temp and don’t hesitate to call helpline again if you’re not happy.
Just to throw this one in, I swear by the fizzy, dissolve in water immune support vitamin c and zinc tablets, like redoxon, but supermarkets do their own, used them all the way through covid as I was paranoid about subjecting my husband who had Parkinson’s disease to any bugs or viruses
. Needless to say I have a supply in.
Evening ladies!
Well after a quiet morning the oncology team got in touch this afternoon and turned my week upside down. My first chemo session is now this Monday 14th. I will be having EC every 3 weeks x 3 and then Taxol weekly x 9. Seems a lot of chemo for a borderline case!
I’ve now got to get my bloods done this week and unfortunately cancel my prosthesis fitting on Wednesday 16th. I need to get to the wig shop for head coverings as I intend to remove my hair before it leaves me!! I believe I need to buy a thermometer .
It’s really hit home and I’m feeling sick with worry, anxious & frightened about what’s to come.
Hi, I’m definitely no expert as I only had my first round today. I’ll be honest and say that I do not feel well tonight, however as many of these fine ladies have said, once you start, it’s just different. This is coming from someone who had severe fear, anxiety, and panic attacks up to this morning. I would choose feeling unwell over the destruction that fear causes. If I can do this, I promise you can too. Between your teams support and the support you get here, you’ll never be on your own xxxx
Hi my regime is similer but I will also be having 9 Pac with Carbo x 3 . (I’m TNBC). Get a digital in ear thermomiter. I was terrified of my first EC but it went very smoothly the nurses will be keeping an eye on you the whole time and if you feel anything tell them straight away, touch wood, my SE are minimal, apart from insomnia from steroids, hugs to you xx
How are you this morning? Hope you managed to get some sleep.
Thank you. I’ve just ordered a digital ear thermometer
What do you take to eat/drink/pass the time?
I’m told the infusion lasts 2.5-3hrs.
Hi @gerbera1 Good luck Monday, Im still ok this morning after 1st chemo yesterday. I took some washed fruit with me in a tub and a mini snack box of dried fruit, cashews, chocolate ginger and mint tea bags, plus water bottle. I found I wanted the fresh fruit and the choc ginger, I felt I bit like I needed to burp and the ginger helped ( might have been down to the amount of water I drank). I cold capped and was very glad of the little fleece blanket I took. I’m going to try and invent a lower arm version of a leg warmer as my left hand was really cold with all the cold drugs going in. I also will take a straw as I found it hard to tip up the water bottle wearing the cold cap helmet. @saints33 well done, hope you feel a bit better soon.
If your there during lunch/teatime the food trolly comes round, they will also come with hot/cold drinks, I took a puzzle book and hubby, my infusion consisted 15 min saline, 15 min E which was syringed , 15 min C by drip, then 15 min saline so a lot quicker than I was expecting. The first one I had to sit and wait 1hr for the antisickness to take effect but when you go for further cycles you take them 1hr before you go to onc.
That is a lot quicker than I thought. I was told it would be 2.5-3hrs. My husband is coming with me but I will download something to watch on my iPad or listen to music/podcasts. We live near to the hospital so I was going to send him home until I’ve finished. My appointment is at 9.30am so will try to eat something before I go and take a flask of water with me.
How are you feeling? X
It’s much quicker when you’re not cold capping. This adds an extra couple of hours.
Your first session will be longer than usual as they do a few baseline checks like ecg.
I know it’s happening fast for you but it’s better this way than hanging around. You will be well looked after x
Hey, had a rough night. Fell asleep at 6am woke up at 8 and feeling ok right now. Injection tonight
Oh no sorry you had a rough night. Hope today onwards you’ll feel better. Take paracetamol before injections. If you find the injection hurts then get some numbing cream from boots x
I’m going to get numbing cream for my entire body at this point. Inside and out
Haha! I know what you mean! Have your injection about 8 then try and go asleep, and drink tons of water today x
