All very informative so thank you Charlotte. I have my appt with Oncologist on 25th. However it clashes with day I am booked in (day surgery) to have Botox in my bladder. Of course that would be easy if both were at the same hospital which of course they aren’t . Can I ask how all your poorly boobs are looking and feeling like (sounds like a question from a pervert) !

Hi, hope you are well? I feel my scarred boob is disfigured… all has healed but the shape and size have changed quite a lot and I’ve been told RT is going to shrink it more… so I’m feeling upset about it to be honest…:disappointed: But trying to be positive that the cancer has gone and I need these treatments to keep me well. But not happy and probably still angry to have to go through this and all the :poop:… maybe time will heal?! Welcome anyone else’s view x

My poorly boob is misshapen too. I have a very hard area next to the scar which I have to say worries me. Also because they no longer match I find it hard to check the other one for anything that might be going on. I know the Cancer has been removed but I don’t feel Cancer free. On the other hand I am doing ok on the Letrozole. No night sweats or hot flushes. Joints a bit achy but I can deal with that. It’s bonkers that we are all going through this together and didn’t know each other a few months ago !!!
Big shout out to the Brave Bonkers Boob Babes

Hi Amanda,

My bob is misshapen too. I’m nearly 3 months after 2nd op and although it has improved a lot, the scar is a very pale mauve rather than pink, it’s still indented and has pulled my nipple round towards it a bit. Radio didn’t change it.

How do I feel about it? Like others I’m also upset by it BUT the cancer has (:crossed_fingers:t2:) gone and it is my only boob (hence ‘bob’) so I went through the body dysmorphia 17 years ago when first diagnosed. I hate the shape of my body and I hate buying clothes which is why I generally only wear jeans and t-shirts. I don’t feel feminine even though my hb constantly tells me he still fancies me, bless him 🩵

@lottie73 as for bras, yes I did try an old one on the other day. Because of having bob I used to wear wired ones to keep the whole kaboodle wedged in place otherwise I’d end up with one cup under my chin - not a good look! The wire on bob’s side which wasn’t previously an issue now digs in to my lymph scar. Hoorah, another hurdle to jump :flushed: Guess I’ll need to either remain commando (which tbh is 90% of what I do now as bob is still a bit sensitive) or deploy a crop top, with or without sock!

Despite this :poop: I’m telling myself every flipping day that I’m lucky to be alive, get your arse in gear girl and Carpe Diem.

Hi, thanks all for your thoughts and advice. @smak I have a long, deep vertical scar from my repositioned nipple down to the lower part of my boob. As it healed I have hard lumps under the scar where it’s knitting together, I’ve found this has got softer if I massage it. Maybe get yours checked out by the nurse if it’s hardening?
I’m also coping fine on letrozole, I take it in the morning so don’t notice any joint issues and have the odd hot flush… so far. I’m on them for 5 years. I’m still wearing the soft bras with no underwires.
I know no one is going to see me topless ever again (luckily!) and my hb is supportive, but it’s a big change to cope with. Thanks for all your understanding :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:xxx

I have to have a bone scan too. No date yet x

Sounds like your surgery was big . My scar is on the left of my left boob. When I needed the second surgery they went into the same site. I would describe my boob now as a puckered lumpy work of art ! Small price to pay to be Cancer free . I have my Oncology appt next Thursday.
Hope all you BBB’s are well.

Hi. I had my RT planning today. All fine, though it’s not the most comfortable position to lie in and the room got cold! Took about 2 hours. I start treatment on 16 October to 6 November…. :disappointed: Fingers crossed the side effects are manageable. So I’ve got 4 weeks prep and time to enjoy some normal time. Hope you are all well :kissing_heart:

Hi Sheelagh!

Sorry I haven’t been on here much but I’ve been working stupid hours and by the time I read the messages it’s bedtime!

I’m all good though getting broken sleep due to the hot sweats every night and it doesn’t matter what time I take the pills! That seems to be the only side effect at the mo and I’m hoping it stays that way :crossed_fingers:t2:

How are you doing hun?

Hi Amanda

How do you feel now you have dates? The time will fly by and it will be another big tick on the cancer riddance chart!

I am on Letrozole too but the hot sweats seem to be every night! It’s good to know that I’m not the only one who is still feeling comfy in the soft bras, though I will need to change soon being a bigger girl :grimacing:

Sending lots of love

Oh you’re not too far from me then as I’m in Harlow.

I have 4 dogs but the youngest one didn’t get the memo and is a little livewire!

When is your follow up appointment?

Hi Sheelagh,

Sorry!!! Like @lottie73 snowed under with work.

I’ve stayed at home to work this week and am finally feeling better. Last week in London knocked the stuffing out of me, in hindsight it was too much and sent me downhill a bit.

Only 4 more working days to go til holibobs woo hoo!

Love to all,
Bxx

Typical, honestly these pooches!
The nurse said 4-6 weeks.

1 of my friends had op mid July and is still waiting for results from axwell known north London hospital, its not on.

Went to the theatre today for a switch off x

Hi Charlotte, sorry to hear you are going through hot flushes, hopefully it will calm down with letrozole over the next few months. I’m sure my nurse said 3 months, but I could be wrong. I know how horrible they are, I can have nights kicking the duvet off if I get too hot! I think I’m turning very grumpy with all these tablets or maybe it’s me just getting older and the real rebel coming out  Keep telling myself to be thankful

It’s definitely good to know when I’ll finish RT, but seeing 15 dates written down it’s a bit intimidating…. I’m going to need a lot of treats to get through this! Everyone implies it’s a breeze but I’m worried about the ‘crispy boob’ side effects that can carry on for months and years…

How are you feeling? I hope you are going to get some time off work during your treatment days and take it easy.

Lots of hugs to everyone going through this… fingers crossed it’s the final step :crossed_fingers: xxxx

Is anyone else doing the 100 miles in October for Breast Cancer now? Am I mad doing this when I am having RT? I feel it will give me a distraction whilst I’m going through it all???! And I walk about 4 miles a day generally…. :running_woman:t3:

Hi @chelseagirl, that’s a crazy wait! Mine was 2 weeks after the operation. Then another 4 weeks for tumour profiling, but that’s not usual. Good luck and hope you get your results soon x

Just glad you are ok. Shame about the night sweata though. Ivve had my first tonight. Fatigue is the worst thing for me. Our hormones have a lot to answer for. Hope you are not over doing it at work !

I did this last year Amanda. Little did I know I would have breast cancer myself a few months later. I love walking and I enjoyed the challenge. Raised £700. You will have to send the link to your sponsor form.xx

Hello BBB’s!! Sorry lovely ladies… not ignoring you just bonkers busy this month.

Charlotte, sorry about the night sweats lovie. If it’s any consolation- # me too :hot_face:… pretty much every night now, although they are getting less intense.

I take my pill at night, and they told me to switch to daytime, but I actually don’t want to in case that triggers daytime woes. So I’m sticking with it :muscle:

Anyone else noticed they’re getting short tempered lately? … is it just me or is everyone non boob a pain in the ass right now???
Maybe I’m just really busy but I feel like I’m rolling my eyes and muttering “for f***s sake” rather a lot. I’m not very patient with anyone right now (2legs or 4legs).
I’m blaming the meds… :wink::muscle:

Hot flushes are about every half hour, which aren’t helping. Although they aren’t long lasting.

I had my stitches checked last Monday and forgot my hand fan :scream:… yup! Full on hot flush in the waiting room. Beads of sweat dripping down my forehead (niiice!)… there was a white haired, elderly lady sitting near me and she quietly stretched into her cavernous handbag and passed her hand fan to me, without a word exchanged.

I took it and muttered a “thank you- “lifesaver “ at her…

Then, to my annoyance, in the midst of enjoying said fan’s relief… she leaned towards me, and said LOUDLY “I guessed we must be about the same age” and sat back in her chair, with an air of smugness that really hacked me off!:rage:

Is it wrong that I wanted to ram that fan down her scrawny wizened throat ?? … :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

:thinking:must be the pills…

And- breeeath… Ohhhmmmmm :person_in_lotus_position::woman_in_lotus_position::man_in_lotus_position:
Lol!

Still no results from the bone scan… that’s bloody annoying too

Chocolate!!!….

Hi Amanda,
Well, at least you have a date and you get some good time beforehand to be ‘normal’ :woman_shrugging:
Cold room is a bit naff! They should have made it more comfortable :rage:

I was At K&C for my CT/prep less than an hour! Can’t believe they kept you that long…

Is that when they gave you your dates? I got mine via email the day after my oncology appointment. It’s such a mixed bag isn’t it? … they all seem to have their own timelines. I was reading @chelseagirl above about the long wait in London for pathology results. That’s just dreadful… I waited 3 weeks and that was long enough :face_with_raised_eyebrow:… they should be able to do better than that :woman_shrugging:
My surgeon made it clear that as soon as he had them- I’d have them… regardless of booked appointments. And I did get a phonecall from his secretary arranging to come in a week earlier than the booked follow up. It shouldn’t matter what your postcode is!!
We all know how stressful that particular wait is.

Hope you get a call soon @chelseagirl (and your friend too!)
We are all thinking of you hon! :hugs::hugs:
