Coming out the other side - one year on!

hi ladies, you make me smile, where else could you talk about your lady gardens. That was the first to go for me, and my leg hairs are still hanging on for dear life, little blighters.
feeling a bit better today but still not normal, my OH would argue i was never normal to begin with.
Julie m is still hold up in hosp, she is feeling better but caus the results of the SF test hasnt come back they still wont let her out of the room and she is desperate to see her kids. Hope she allowed out soon.
Rachel i know what abig step your going through tonight so i am sending you big cyber hugs((((((hugs))))) once it over and done with you will feel so much better. Take care
Luv to you all Pauline xxx

hi all,
decidedly more human today! Just a bit tired and fuzzy mouthed! Had an emergency wig fitting today, and could only take the mother along for advice as all my mates were at work…Not quite Sandra D but short blond normal bob!! Was after a black one but had none in stock and desperately need hair for this weekend big nite out in Manchester! Quite happy with it, tho i have found a really cheap website and now i know what suits me (tried about 50 styles on) i might get something more adventurous off the internet - its wigs.uk.net - have a look.
Good luck with the head shave rach - i see you are still able to manage a drop of alcohol! My lady garden is now almost a lady desert by the way!
Little H - that made me giggle - memories of puberty coming flooding back…OMG we’ll be going through puberty and the menopause at the same time!!!
Smelltheroses - wow doing well on the hair front, obviously cold cap really didnt work for me as i had a massive bald patch the day before my second cycle…now i look like i have a very bad case of nits!!

A quick hello tonight girls. Pix, glad you are feeling better. Rach - hugs for tonight.

You lot are sooo great! I’m rather the worst for wear after a few glasses of wine. My fab man cut my hair whilst a great party was going on around him. I’m typing carfully cos I can’t really see straight; so off to bed, I’ll probably wake with head ache and then post piccies of me sans hair - on my head that is - lets leave the lady ‘jardin’ to the imagination what? LOL

hi all i love catching up on this site i rang onch yesterday and guess what he is on holiday and 1st sept is first appointment available so i guess i will just have to wait but i keep reading your posts and i know what to expect so good luck all and i will keep you posted when i know anything positive
love to you all Janice

Ooh I can’t wait to join the free brazilian gang (minus the chemo though, obviously!). Got a bit of a lady jungle going on at the mo what with not being able to get it waxed (sorry if that’s too much info!).

Well done Rach (loved the sneak preview pic)!!! Hope you’re not feeling too hungover today?! Had a few myself last night but feeling a-ok!

Glad you’re feeling a bit perkier Pixielox. Would love to see you in a blonde bob. Wow, talk about a change of image!!! How’s the breathlessness btw? And did you have your scan yet?? I’m still getting breathless because of my low iron; I feel like an old woman puffing and panting and having to sit down half way round Tesco!!

It is blooming typical isn’t it Jayney that the leg hairs are the last to go?! Another part of my anatomy currently resembling a jungle (but that’s because I’m too lazy to shave them at the minute if the truth be known!!).

Lovely consultant phoned me at home last night in response to a list of questions I’d emailed him and he made me feel a bit better, as he gave me a much higher estimate of my 10 year survival than I’d got off the internet. Also told me my tumour was smaller than they’d originally thought (11mm). Got to pop to the hospital today because the softies the bcn gave me are too big and they’re only an A cup; hahaha!!! My hubby says it’s hardly worth bothering!!!

Love to all,
Caro xxxx

I’ve been having a glass of Sanatogen every evening to keep the haemoglobin count up - it was the low haemo that gave me the little drama when my blood pressure dropped 3 days after last chemo. Doesn’t help that the girl in the shop said “Oooh, my grannie used to drink that.”

Cooo the heads a bit drafty! yes I had a small but well formed head ache and mouth like the bottom of the fridge!
Blood today - swamp juice on thurs - what lucky girls we are!!!
love to all xxxxxx R
p.s. piccies not up loaded yet but it looks like we had a whale of time!! LOL

well done rachel… glad you had a good time even if you can only remember when you see the photographic evidence LOL
and cant wait to see your pic now youve joined baldiesRus… good luck with the bloods and chemo.

caro i am always puffing and panting these days but my HB is good as far i know thought it was just from fatigue… or old age LOL

pixie looking forward to seeing the blonde bob glad your feeling a bit better.

jayney my leg hairs are on the way infact im kinda bald below the knees, stubbly around the calves and bit of a forest round the ankles… doing a very good impression of a hobbit!

janice bloody typical that your onc is away just now but im sure the 1st of sept will be here soon enough.

im feeling pretty good at the mo but still having ‘cording’ problems in right arm and now starting to get some mild tightening in left wrist so wonde is if its starting there now but have physio appt for next week and still waiting to hear from onc about getting a hickman line in.

hope every one else is doing ok
love n hugz

Good news about Julie, Pauline - hope she and you are both feeling better soon.

Hey girls - Caro that all sounds like good news from your consultant. Am really chuffed for you. Rach hope hangover is better now but glad you enjoyed your vino. Looking forward to seeing pics. Laughing at the ladygarden stuff. You go from being young with a bikini line to being middle aged with a bikini paragraph lol. My underarm fuzz is getting on my wick at the moment. Will try to get it off before starting rads. Droopy it seems you will have to dig in and wait till September before treatment. Meantime try to enjoy what’s left of the summer.
Pauline, poor you, sending you healing thoughts and all you other ladies on swamp juice.
Waving to you in Edinburgh Lu, hope physio sorts out these problems for you.

Morning all - isn’t it great how you feel after 24hrs of abstinence!!! LOL
You lot do make me laff! Lady paragraph indeed - but susanne your right about the nose hairs its really weird, you can’t have a good pick any more (you know; alone inthe car no one car see you…LOL)
My darling girls are off to their meme and papi’s house in surrey on friday so i can do ‘the dying swan’ in peace for a few days! Oh boy not looking forward to tomorrow!

Just wanted you to know i’m joining you swamp juice ladies today!!!

Hope everyone is good and feeling well.

Pixie good luck today, thinking of you.

love the new picture rach.

Dropped my two girls off at a friends in Essex yesterday and my 3 year old who i’ve only left once before and that was at our house was so desperate for us to leave so she could start her ‘sleepover’

It’s not been as restful at home with hubby back as i would have liked as i’m having to feed him little and often so lots of running around but i get a dayoff today lol.

Good luck to everyone, love to all xxxxx

peppa, good luck today,
Rach, lov the pic, bet you feel soooo much better

still not feeling any better, after some advice, has anyone else on fec had numb toes? i have just yesterday and today on one foot, feels a bit like frost bite, not nice.

Off to veg out on settee, again!!!

Luv to you all, keep going girls, we are getting through this …slowly luv pauline xxx

Cor, I think I’m in the position you were in yesterday Rach: I only had 3/4 bottle of wine last night (not much for me!) but woke up (at 09.50, lazy cow) with a right headache which refuses to shift. Love the pic btw, you look very cute!

Congratulations Gina, you’re finally getting to join the swamp juice gang; lucky you!! Hope it goes ok.

Sorry you’re still feeling unwell Pauline. Take advantage, wrap yourself in a duvet and watch cr*p daytime tv!!

Lulu, sorry to hear about the cording. My breathlessness is def due to low iron (I hope!) as I lost a fair amount of bloody during surgery and was told it’d take about 4 weeks to get my haemoglobin levels back to normal. Didn’t know sanatogen helped with iron Susanne, perhaps I should give it a go.

Talking of underarm fuzz Alex, I’m having the same problem and it’s so itchy under there it’s driving me insane. Any advice on how/when I can de-hair post surgery anyone???

Good luck to all you ladies on swamp juice this week!

Love, Caro xxx

Hi all - just found this site, can I join you? Was diagnosed end of April. Just had 4th out of 8 cycles of chemo (followed by surgery then ? radiotherapy). Have been very low, trying to keep spirits up but hating chemo/loss of control/loss of hair/job on hold (nursing).Had double whammy as 25 year old son was diagnosed with Lymphatic cancer (NHL) 3/52 after my own diagnosis. He lives 3 hours from me so can’t do the motherly support bit as much as I’d like to. Seems so cruel when I am feeling physically and mentally drained myself. All a bit much really. Had contact with people who’d been through breast cancer treatment but needed people going through it now - life feels so abnormal. Went to a Face Facts session which was great, but no-one swapped details for meeting up.People seem locked in their own world at the oncology clinic. Regime changing next time to Taxotere - am scared by comments re side effects. Lots of positive comments on here so thanks for that - it has made me feel less alone.

Good luck Gina - hope they dope you pretty good so you don’t feel to bad.
Pauline - poor thing -I agree with Caro - collapse on the sofa and stay there!
Lulu - I still have my cording from the drain site to wrist and its pretty obvious when I raise my arms up over me head! trying the stretching but its not really going any where - I can’t shave my pits tho!
Caro - I thought provided you did not wet shave or wax you can get rid of them pesky hairs with cream or lady shave. I just have a squirrel nestling under each arm pit at the mo!
love to all xxxxx R

hi erin

welcome to our gang… sorry to hear about your son too that is just too much for one person to be dealing with so its not surprising your feeling a little lost… sending you loads of cyberhugs.

do you have a maggie centre near you? they often run groups for all sorts of things like tai chi, creative writing or relaxation classes where you can meet other people going through the same thing.

if you have facebook you can add me… i have a link in my profile.

im also a nurse as is rachel.

pauline sorry to hear your still feeling poop but another day vegging out and hopefully you will be feeling better.

Rachel im totally loving your new baldy look.

gina glad you are finally getting started i think getting that first one out the way is such a big hurdle to overcome as you dont know what to expect… fingers crossed you dont have any problems.

caro hope your feeling less breathless soon and that the iron does the trick.
