Darling buddies from May - moving on

hi angie

second post ive tried to send, lost my first. just to say ive been looking on some inspirational sites, of women with the same prognosis as you, and one lady was diagnosed in 2001, how great is that, so there can be hope. i know they say we need to be realistic, but we really dont have the answers, and ive rather live in hope and be wrong, at least you enjoy it more. i know there will be moments of despair, but it seems like you are trying to make the most of the moment. well done! you are couragiously brave.

i will try and post some stories at a later date, a little short of time at moment. but just wanted to let you know im thinking of you, each and every day my prayers are with you and tommy. ,

hope you have a peaceful, night try and keep things in the moment, it works sometimes.

all my love.x

Hi,
Lorraine, I love that thought, keep things in the moment. I will try to make that my new way of thinking. Trouble is, whenever I have an appointment the panic creeps in. Love it though, thanks.
Angie hope those arms are starting to lighten and do everything you want them too. So sounds like you are free of tablets from Saturday onwards, brilliant. Is that you finished after the tablets? Retail therapy should have been every other item on the list.LOL. What did you order? Something warm I hope.
I am heading there next week so where has all this blasted snow come from tonight? My road is a skating rink again! Of course youngest had to be at a music concert and totally oblivious to his phone ringing so I could go and get him before it got even worse. My middle daughter had rung to say skidded at 20mph and nearly hit by another car, so was keen to do my trip asap. Luckily another Mum felt sorry for me and dropped him home. I donā€™t mind that kind of sorry and help!! Tricky to please me these days. Julia, chuckled about your diet comment, how many are there!! I wish I could be bothered to do some exercise but going to work plus essays for my masters is enough to put me on the sofa most evenings. Hope it will improve and have to remember we finished chemo quite a while later, so that gives us a good excuse too. Nicky, I canā€™t believe we have not mentioned meringues to add to Angieā€™s list or did we all over do them before? I bought my hubby a giant box of chocolates, ulterior motive of course. Could I hang this ā€˜eating up food and chocs before I start dietingā€™ saga out to take in Mothers day and then Easter!!! Hopeless!Hope today went ok for you Nicky and you rewarded your bravery by a visit to the bakery afterwards.Hope you are not snowed in again as I see your daughter is going on a trip and wonā€™t want the flights delayed.I see your eldest is trying out her skills, should be a great thing to add to her cv.My mind is struggling to take all the new work info in but keeps getting overloaded by all the new names I need to learn. I had to talk about cot deaths and then Jehovahs witnesses today and had to write all the facts down, couldnā€™t retain nearly as much as I used to be able to. Hope practise makes me improve. Lisa glad you had your family there and near enough to see when you panicked. It will be me next, my dx was on 29 Feb 2008, of course there wonā€™t be another 29th for a few years. Perhaps on the 28th I can say Iā€™ll think about it tomorrow, and then on the 1st March, think ooh I missed it! More focused on the annual mammos in April to be honest and keep doing body checks evry night. The lump under my port scar is melting away thankfully. BIL went home today after a major tummy disruption from the painkillers. I have to say I knew exactly how bad he felt but nearly vomited when i tried to do my teeth in the bathroom. So baby chemo toothbrush has been safe in my room and away from ā€¦? Every day when i walked in from work it hit me as I came through the door, wooooooooof! Poor old thing has been on all bran, wholemeal bread, fruit, veg, apple juice, movicol, double suppositories, senna and lactulose. I joke not, that is how much it took, all of them! It took me right back to my really bad spell and now talking toilets again!! after vowing to talk about nicer things to people.LOL
Take care its slippy tomorrow apparently
Lily x

hiya all, just a quick pop in! Bloody hearing has gone yesterday and today, just hoping they are bunged up, only went after I poked them, but it is friday 13th today!!!

Heres to a good day and no bad luck, weve had enough!
Catch up later x

Hey: Going back to the diets thingy, just found another even older version of the low carb diet called ā€œThe Drinking Manā€™s Dietā€, Just substitute a word and I think we could be in business!!!

J

Sounds like a good diet - might try it!!!

Angie you take all the help that is offered. Why donā€™t you make a list of something special you want to do each week. Some things could be quite simple and inexpensive but others could be wild! go for it you do whatever you want to and as the others said sod the blā€“dy credit crunch. You are constantly in my thoughts.

Lisa have you tried acupuncture for your headaches? may help a bit and I hope you are over your insecure moment and feeling more upbeat.

Lily gosh you certainly have had the extremes of weather. I am in Kent and we had another dollop (I like that word dollop!)of snow last night everything was completely covered again and looked lovely but had gone by the morning as it had turned to rain. I went back to swimming 6 weeks after finishing rads and it does feel really good as I mentioned previously I had to get over the way I look now in a swmimming costume but once in the water it felt good so I would recommend it. Sorry to hear you had a bit of an irritating moment at work I know what you mean when people look at you as if have suddenly become 80 yrs of age aghhhhhh.Still you just have to forget about dust yourself off and start again.

I went to the Haven Trust today and had some manual lymphatic drainage massage on my arm I thoroughly recommend it a very relaxing treatment and has made my arm feel much better.

All this talk of diets!! it is soooo hard when the weather is still so cold I just want comfort food I keep telling myself "I will worry about that tomorrow "(just like Scarlett in gone with the wind!) I really must be more disciplined.

Kirsty I too am in my third week back at work and am now up to 20 hours a week I have been really pleased with myself as so far so good but I do feel tired when I get in but luckily hubby is still sharing the cooking! long may that last.

What a lovely dress I would like to find one but how do we save it and then place it on this site o.k. it is probably really easy but I struggled enough getting my photo on it! so need a bit of help

love to you all and have a good weekend.

Bev xx

hi everyone

bevvy to put a dress on, just find one on a site .
(not as easy as i thought to find an expensive one, they all said bargains, one time in my life when i didnt want a bargain)

when you have found one, just right click and save it to your pictures, then go to edit profile, and your picture at the bottom of page, click browse and you should get a bar at the top that says your documents or pictures, just click on the picture youve saved.

i cant wait to see yours! bet you find a more expensive one, happy shopping.

can everyone believe we have come this far, great isnt it.

lots of love lorraine x

hi angie,

hope you ok, and not in any pain, you may be feeling a bit low with coming off the steriods , if so i hope its only temporarily.

the weather here in the midlands not been too bad, so i hope youve had some sun, where you are.

take care, one day at a time.x

Hi,
well my snow had mostly disappeared so roads fine this morning, what a disappointment I was all geared up for another snow day off school. Very amusing getting the day off on full pay and listening to people on tv moaning about teachers not going to work. These days most secondary teachers would not chance living near their school so travel some distance. I think they were just annoyed that they had the kids home. Anyway just completed my second full week of light duties. All hell breaks out when I get back after half term so will be very busy trying to get everyone their Cs and above. Until then a week off for half term and recharge the batteries. BIL is fine back at his home so just restocking his cupboards every weekend. Wedding dress shopping tomorrow, so the happiest afternoon of fun with my 3 girls.
Lorraine, I really will try to look dresses up this weekend as in the mood for clothes. I think going back to work is moving the inches even if the weight is standing still.Must be all those stairs! Will be crosssing everything for your results later in the week.
Bev yes we had a big dollop of snow! Ours went quickly too. My Mum is now too scared to drive in case a blizzard appears from nowhere and traps her so she canā€™t get back to save her dogs! Oh yes that is a problem, a suitable swimming costume? Better try the old ones on first. Glad to hear you are having help with your arm at last. They do that in my area too as we have a charity that offers free complementary treatments and councelling for cancer patients. My daughter wants me to go to a spa day with her. When she rang they said I was a sticky problem! Well been called a few things in my time but not sticky since quite small! Everyone else hope you enjoy the weekend. Angie donā€™t waste a minute thinking about what you could do, just go do it. Then come back and tell us what fun you had x
Love
sticky Lily x

I would just like to say a BIG thank you to all you ladies on this thread you have helped me a lot since my dx in Aug 08. Im near the end of my treatment, had 6 EC, I have got 8 radiotherapy sessions to go so the end is sight. Its scary that in a couple of weeks time I wont have a safety net(no doctors). I have not been told when the follow up ā€˜testsā€™ will be done, hope its not too long a wait

Thanx again ladies xx

Thanks Lorraine I did it!!

One Shoulder Full Length Silk Dress - Ā£1,800.00

o.k. I know I could never wear anything like that but it is fun imagining!! Iā€™ve gone for the sophisticated look (I wish!)

happy wedding dress hunting lily!

and love to all

Bev x

Whoa - sexy dress Bev! I must root around for a dress or nice photo as Iā€™m still an outline:-(
Great to catch up on everybodyā€™s news. Keep positive and weā€™ll be able to enjoy every moment we have. Lovely comments again from Lorraine - you do keep us up beat even though itā€™s difficult for you and us at times.
Lily - hope youā€™ve had a great day wedding dress hunting and not looking at the labels for the prices - ouch!
Angie - Iā€™m sure you and Tommy have spoiled yourselves today - or at least I hope you have.
OH and I have been out for a lovely meal at lunchtime at a very posh local hotel. My brother gave me vouchers for it last birthday and added some with my OHā€™s bā€™day so we only had to pay for the wine. Weā€™re due out this evening for an 18th party so need to get trendy and change clothes so I can chill with the youngsters - I wish! YD is in Courcheval now after a very long trip by mini bus (arghhhhh) and I slipped a St Valā€™s present in of heart socks and slippers for her to find today. Sorry to say that ED has split up from her boyfriend of 4 years and we are having to pick up the pieces:-(
Got her a pair of heart print pj bottoms from good old Primark to help mend the broken heart she now has. I guess we all know how sheā€™s feeling right now and St Valā€™s Day is not the day to be around on is it? However sheā€™s doing the makeup for this Amateur Operatic Society and has had loads of good comments about her work and offers of help for her portfolio so itā€™s good to know sheā€™s being kept busy. OH and I went to see it last night and actually enjoyed it - quite a surprise as weā€™re really not into that sort of thing.
Take care all, need to sort out a few things before we head out into the night and hopefully donā€™t fall asleep and snore at this party having had a few drinks at lunchtime!
Nicky xx

hi everyone

bevvy i love the dress, slinky and sexy. mine wouldnt fit me, but thats what so good about imagination. i will wait a week give others chance to share theirs and then put pic of shoes on. wish real clothes shopping was so easy, hubby and i are going out tonight, and i thought i would go and buy something from town, but i couldnt find anything, not so easy when you have to worry about scar showing, lymphodema on arms etc. i did manage to get a silky black top with flowers on, will need to wear something underneath, so just hope the mediteranean moments keep at bay.(hot flushes) we are going to a chinese buffet, all you can eat. full up thinking about it.

nicky 08

ahh poor daughter , i can remember what a broken heart feels like, going to the window, to see if they are coming, listening for the phone, wouldnt wish it upon anyone. bet they all loved your pressies, sounds like you enjoy giving like me. glad you enjoyed lunch out, and out again this evening (cant be bad!)

lily

how long you been looking for the wedding dress, its so difficult making a decision on something like that. bet sheā€™ll look beautiful.
your making me envious thinking of you losing all those inches, ive gotten so lazy, keep saying im going to walk more, but making excuses such as its too cold.(wimp or what)

angie

hope you and tommy have a brilliant day, and enjoy yourselves. x

take care everyone, dont eat too many chocs.x

Hi Ladies

Hope you all have had a good weekend.

I never got out on my retail therapy, as Friday the 13th struck!!!
Should of been pay day for me on Fridayā€¦first one in 6 months, so was looking forward to a bank balcance that looked kinda of healthyish. Got my wage slip and noticed that i was still under ā€˜SICKā€™ā€¦ no wages!! Phoned the pay inquiries and was told that they had not been informed, that i had returned. HR office had somehow forgot to tell them. After alot of phone calls an a angry email from my boss to HR, pay office have said there should be some pay put in on Monday. Hopefully fingers crossed i will be able to take my son out on Tuesday.

Also my computer at work decided to stop working on Friday!!! AHhhhhhhhhhh.

Sorry for the winge, but it does make me feel better.

Kirsty

Friday 13th eh, well got totally blocked ears, cant hear a thing and headaches and feel like poo but hospital today said that that bunged up cant see if got infection so drops till wednesday, sure everyone is getting peace, apart from my neighbour, who rang me at 12.30pm to ask me to turn telly down, so now sitting in font watching dancing on ice lipreading!!!

Likeing the dresses, any hiya to our newest recruit, keep coming on here!!!

Will look for nice dress tomorrow - lily hope you enjoyed shopping for dresses!! Kirsty, must be raging!!!

Angie hope you were spoilt rotten yesterday!!

ps. my postbox was full, not!!! xxxx

Hi,
I have been a lazy wotsit today. I didnā€™t get up until 10.30, had breakfast in my PJs, had a shower and then just laid on the sofa. Watched Shipwrecked, then a bit of football and then had lunch and then watched tv until I remembered 10 for dinner tonight!! I just felt like wasting time doing nothing and recharging my batteries. Had to do a double option dinner as tiny terror has decided he will only eat chicken pie and yorkshire puddings. Then everyone jumped ships and wanted pie!!! The people on roast were in luck though. Then chocolate brownies or toffee apple sponge pudding with cornish ice cream. Oh yes I am so serious about a diet - NOT! Lorraine, your perception of my weight loss was severely exaggerated, I checked with the kids and they canā€™t notice any change, let alone a significant one. So steady on I am still with you in spirit and body! I think I just got a bit carried away because I could still get 3 of my suits on, from before my treatment. I tried to put a dress on but it has failed so far, not sure why. It was a Robert Cavalli full length dress in electric blue stretch (handy) satin with swarovski crystal detailing on the straps and cost Ā£1776 plus postage. Unfortunately we also all fell in love with an Ian Stuart wedding dress when we went shopping. I of course have to say, oh donā€™t worry if its a bit over your budget I can put the difference in. It was Ā£1750. Yikes. I think I might have to start taking glasses or a new brain when I go out for big items. So we are still looking for the dress.
Soulgirl, hi how are you? You should have said hi before now, so we could cheer you on too.Good luck with the rads, know what you mean about finishing, nice but scary too. It gets easier. I get seen every 12 weeks, alternating between my surgeon and my onc. Have full blood tests just before I go each time to be checked. Mammos on anniversary of my surgery. Lots of luck and take care.
Lisa, CAN U EAR ME ! You poor old thing, I have a scratchy throat that is keeping me awake and that is annoying enough. Sorry I really laughed at the neighbour ringing you to turn the tv down. Are you a shipwrecked fan, I love it? Watched the skating too, Ray is great isnā€™t he, but miss Todd being so terrible. Bā€¦y Robson forgot your valentine card again, I see. Typical! Hope you feel much better very soon. Kirsty, that is pants. I went along and told mine I was back but have to wait until end of Feb to see if I get any. Benefit are still writing to me despite me telling them I was back at work and hand delivering my final sick form. First they wonā€™t pay me, now they wonā€™t bā€¦r off. They even sent me a letter to say I had to go for a medical to check my condition!!! I joke not. I rang up and let em have it so I donā€™t have to go now. Hope you get it sorted. I am wondering whether my little chap is big enough to go to the cinema or whether he would talk all the way through. He is very persistent when he wants an answer and is being ignored. Nicky you are really having a good social life out and about, lucky you. Sweet idea to put the pressies in YDs bag, bet she was pleased. Sorry to hear about number one though and hope it is not too upsetting. Just one of mine had no-one and I did feel for her as her friends were being really fussed. Bev notice I found a stretchy dress.LOL. Julia hope things are going ok. Have you started tablets yet, I have lost track. Any news on the herceptin, etc? Angie hope things are settling a little for you and that you are feeling up to doing a few of the items on your list. At the very least eat a lovely fresh cream scone for me.
Love
Lily x

Oooppppss just had a scone, and sadly I cant get on treadmill as I will defo fall off. Lily how could you laugh at me!!! Sent my dad to neigbours before to see if they could hear my t.v., sitting ontop of the bugger, (and hasnt broke with weight) so I can hear but they cant!!! Diet stuffed up totally but hey hoy, Not into shipwrecked (well not yet anyhow), loving dancing on ice and up for roxy seen as she originates from my area < yep back of beyond. Anyone watchign american idol?!? Anyone seen a site by caroline who arranges makeovers for people suffering b cancer?!"!?? know you might not be intersted angie but posted for info just in case, thin you coul do with treat.

Lily, wedding dresses eh! well mine was just short of what you are talkin about, felt soooo guilty at time cos wanted summit cheaper but boy did it make me feel good, pity things went down hill two years later and its still at mams, but still love how it made me feel and grahamā€™s face when he seen me, probably most expensive 2 stone loss ever.

Hope all okay, off to have a deaf night and day off tomorrow, too many hols. love to all xxxx

hi everyone

Lily im sure you look great whatever the size, its whats inside that matters.(and me and you have more inside than lots of others, so were ok.) my hubby used to watch shipwrecked all the time, didnt realise it was on again. another of his favourite used to be judge judy, erghhh, perhaps he likes women in charge, iā€™ll need to work on that. dress sounds lovely, hope you manage to show us, did you look at how i explained it to one of the girls.

angie
really hope you doing ok, and are feeling more peaceful, the problem is i should imagine, every symptom you get, worries you.

nicky 08
hope you doing ok.

everyone have a great evening, dont do anything i wouldnt do. x

Hi,
well now I am back at work, I can enjoy being off work again and it is half-term hooray. Mind you today I had to get up reasonably early to take BIL to get his plaster sorted out, as his arm is going numb and got shooting pains. Just when I thought I could escape THAT place for a few weeks. Then picked my son up as he had his first driving lesson today. He was so excited, it got him off his horizontal in a deckchair vegetative state for once!He went out for 2 hours and says he did 60 mph because the bloke took him on the wrong road. Well I am sure his nerves paid for that mistake and he was relieved to get back to a slower speed - the instructor that is!He is apparently a natural driver. Here we go he will think he can be Lewis Hamilton again now and want to give up his A levels!
Then picked up a Bc lady I know and met the rest of the local Bc group that meet with the main intention of eating and talking a lot! Well I always seem to eat a lot. Had the biggest profiteroles ever, looked just like elephantā€™s doofers! Not that Iā€™ve looked you understand. I was so full when I got home I really had to make an effort to fit some dinner in but everyone else was starving. Iā€™m sure I would be much slimmer if I didnā€™t live in a house full of men now. They always want such giant meals.
Lorraine is it Wed you go to the hospital? Everything crossed for you and will be thinking of you. I def have a lot more inside me after the profiteroles.LOL.By the way is your son enjoying the course he started? Lisa I am laughing even more at you getting your Dad in to see the neighbour. Are you worried youā€™ll get an ASBO!!! LOL LOL. Just a though, does the tv have a plug so you can use headphones? I think you would really like shipwrecked, it is Sat morning and repeated sunday, on channel 4. Have not got into this series of American idol yet. Might give it a quick look. Love Coleenā€™s real women though. Good for you having a big dress. I will probably say have it if she doesnā€™t see anything she likes as much but still trying other shops out first. Have a fab day off tomorrow, are you going shopping? Hi to everyone else, guess you are busy.
Take care
Lily x

hi everyone

lily you always make me drool, profiteroles, not sure i like them any more after your comparison, maybe if we keep comparing our food to not so pleasant things, we will be slim beings. (dont think so somehow!) brought a wireless router last night just have to figure out how to set it up now. where did you see daughters dress, not on when you were looking for your party one online i hope? or else you will be blaming me.
how great you have a week of school, you enjoy it.

angie

hope you managing ok, and not in too much discomfort. dare say when you feel up to it, you will pop us a line and let us know.
take it easy.

just going to hosp with sis, for her scan, i must visit that place more than anyone, i went yesterday with son, today with sis, tommorow me, thurs, and friday. anyone would think i have nothing better to do.

just had some vinyl fitted in the bathroom, been waiting about 2 years, im determined to focus on getting the house straight, maybe iā€™ll spend more time at home then, (who am i kidding?)

take care everyone x
