Darling buddies from May - moving on

hi,
sorry just a quick post, will write more tomorrow. Middle daughter got taken into A & E so had a sleepless night plus my Grandson to look after. She is ok got to have tests but was in pain yesterday. Had 8 to dinner and loads to do before going back to work as hadn’t felt well earlier in the week! Left my homework till the last minute. Angie all sounding fab and hope you get a good date for the wedding tomorrow, how exciting. Wonderful about Tommy’s picture, say congrats from the South!!! Lisa you look lovely together, thank you for sharing that with us. Lovely shoes Lorraine. Bev was it a chemo trial, I am not sure I knew you were on one. I was on the TACt2 trial for chemo.Glad lump was ok, what a scare for you.
Sorry to rush, feel sick as so tired today.
Hugs
Lily x

hiya all

Bevy, glad it was just scar tissue, its wierd how many lumps and bumps you are left with!!

Cant beleive you are going to be famous, forget which trial you were on but it sounds hopeful - well I think I was semi famous tonight - went to pic to see confessions of a shopaholic and god it rings true, think its me, since I have had cancer Ive spent sooo much, I just think sod it put it on the card - really bad but what they hell.

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend - about to chill with a large wine and dancing on ice xx

sorry Lily missed your post while I was posting. Keep us up to date re your daughter, must be scary for you. Take care of yourself too and get some sleep, I think we are all that focused during chemo that its afterwards that it hits us when we have time to do normal stuff.

Keep us updated, take care, love to your daughter and hope you get some sleep xxxx

hi, no this is a taboo subject on site but which of us are on f book? I know me and angie are but Im easily confused as there’s a Nicky and bevy and just checking if its you girls?!?!?!? xxx

photo of the day is where I live, little fishing village. as you can tell Im sorting my photos out that are on p.c. Havent taken any since cancer but back on it now, my camera back to going everywhere with me, ove photos to look at, when Graham died had about 15 in living room, reduced it down to just our wedding pic now.

Im going to have positive head on for a new week x

Lisa what a beautiful location you live in where abouts is it? or is it kept a secret to keep the tourists away. No the facebook Bev is not me I only blog on here.

Lily so sorry to hear about our daughter certainly hope she is better soon whatever the problem is. My friend’s grandchildren have both been admitted to hospital last week due to being de-hydrated due to a terrible tum bug and one is only a little baby very worrying. We all need the sunshine on us now and get outside in the fresh air.

The trials were regarding isolating the sentinal node using micro bubbles so I had that done in addition with the coloured dye and had a guide wire inserted into a lymph node (in other words stabbed into it and left with it insitu until surgery aghhhhhh I can remember the pain) but it should if successful reduce the amount of surgery women will have to undertake in the future so I feel very privilaged to have been the first person it was ever done on. Would n’t make any difference to the treatment a patient would receive if cancer had spread but will reduce the amount of surgery (by reducing the amount of nodes removed initially) for women in the future which is really good.

Remember Angie keep us updated with the wedding plans! hope you are feeling o.k.

Nicky where are you? did the euromillion ticket come up? I can see you sipping your champagne as I type this dreaming up what to go and buy first.

love to all

Bev x

Hi Bev, I live in Whitehaven in Cumbria, bowt 45 mins away from Angie. Its very quiet but nice, you just dont appreciate it when you live in it. The wire thingy doesnt sound pleasant but if it helps others you should be proud!!

Hope everyone okay.

Lily, hope your Daughter is okay
Angie, did you get a date then?!?!

Love to everyone x

Hi all
As far as I know I didn’t win but so far I haven’t checked the ticket - there’s confidence for you!
A busy w/end with a trip up to London for some birthday shopping for YD, partly successful. Then went on to Westfield the new shopping Mall in west London that is huge! Not much success for me as I was also looking for ‘things’ We then picked YD up from college after her ski trip so a really long day for us all and then a catch up when we got home so none of us got to bed until 1am! However lovely to have her back and OH and I had a lovely day in London.
Chasing around again today in between Dr’s appt to see about cholesterol (no tablets) and BP (new tablets!) and a massage. Chilling out now until I start the ironing!
Angie - loved the photo that Tommy took. You said it wasn’t creditted but his name is on the top RH corner - a beautiful picture - so calm. I loved the other ones on his site as well. I bought The Times and didn’t know at that point what I was meant to be looking for so wondered if you had written the article about ladies ‘toys’ LOL! On another note I’m glad you are looking at holistic treatments - would not expect anything less from you. Just to say I’ve found an antioxidant supplement that has pomegranate extract, Lycopene (sp?) and grape seed extract in - all of which are giving good results in trials on cancer cells. Worth a shot!
Lily - how scary for you with your daughter, I hope it’s nothing too bad and she feels better quickly. Also that you are feeling well enough to look after you, your daughter and your grandson, AND go to work! It all comes at once doesn’t it?
Lisa - lovely photo of you and Graham and a gorgeous one of where you live. I love the idea of an updated one, I really will get mine done soon - promise. BTW I’m not ‘allowed’ on FB as my 2 daughters say I’m too old! Must be another Nicky.
Bev - another star in the making! Let us know if you get featured when the results are published. Well done for taking part and helping others after you.
Lorraine - hope you are OK.
I hope I’ve not missed anyone, if I have it’s only because I’m in yet another rush!
I’m on a course tomorrow then training a new lady on Weds, half day Thurs as I have an onc’s appt in the afternoon. And then - oh yes, I’m off to Paris! YD is looking at a Uni over there and we need to go to the Open Day, busy, busy, busy!
Take care all
Nicky xx

Hi,
thank you for your concerns, middle daughter (might use Nicky’s codes so MD)is fine, apart from a big headache the next morning. They really are not sure what is the matter but found small trace of blood in her urine and an infection in her blood, told her that her bowels were all continually in spasms, she was violently sick there and then they said ok go home and see your GP??? One mentioned putting a camera down her throatso no doubt she will be too scared to go now. I was awake most of the night worrying as she insisted on going home and was alone. Still it did mean she could sleep in without tiny there. She has an interview this morning and was feeling headachey again but went, so fingers crossed something may come of it. ED is staying for 4 days while her partner is away so really enjoying having her home. We can talk about weddings to our hearts content and she is very helpful with meals unlike my 2 men! Hubby had no chance we were watching Hollyoaks, Eastenders, Top model, pop goes the band, etc. His idea of a nightmare but he was outnumbered so just read his paper.
Felt totally knackered at school today and sent myself home early. Crashed out on the sofa for an hour or so and felt better. It will be horrible tomorrow because everyone was whispering and acting like I was ILL and I just needed to be horizontal and snooze.I tried to have a sleep in the office but every minute someone either came and looked at me or whispered was I ok!! Argghhh.Does anyone else feel they have to act like superwoman? Well this one crashlanded today and disillusioned everyone, shame.
Angie, as I said in the email, wow, wow, wow, Tommy is a brilliant photographer. You can feel what is coming out of the pictures. Will look forward to following your travels, when is the first trip? Did you pick a day yet or is it secret? My pal who sits opposite me rushed in this morning to say she has booked her wedding, which will be shortly after my ED. So all wedding talk at home, on here and at work. Nicky don’t forget you said you would always pay off my mortgage if you became rich.LOL. Is there any chance of meeting in the Easter hols but will probably have to get hubby to drive? That is if I can get him to take some time off, might have to be a site visit to Tesco! Glad YD got back in one piece after her trip.We are the last ones to put photos on, I am really not sure why it is not happening this end!Enjoy your course and hope they serve a nice lunch and dessert. Keep us posted about the onc’s appointment, is it routine? Thenhave a fabo time in Paris, you lucky devil! You better start saving now, I think it might turn out to be an expensive few years. Lisa, fab pictures and love the idea of changing them. Wish the old ones stayed too so we could see them as well. You really should keep up the photos. You are sounding so much more upbeat, stick with it kid! I am not on facebook either, due to my kids and my tutor group at school. Bev well I ooohed at the fame, squirmed at the wire pain and cheeredat a break through. Did you have a radioactive tracer as well or is it to avoid using them. I had SNB with a tracer and the blue dye but only one node removed so weeny scar, barely an inch long. Brilliant if they are going to improve even further and thank you for being the brave guinea pig x.
Better get off to bed as a later night at school tomorrow and a really late after 9 on Thursday.
Love
Lily x

Hi all
Just to say that as I’m so busy planning YD’s b’day and other things that I may not post on here as much over the next few weeks. I will keep reading though and try to add a short comment if I can. I spend all my work days on a PC so don’t feel like using one when I come home and the other days I’m just chasing my tail so again don’t have much time. There’s nothing wrong with me (unless I’ve not been told yet!) just not got much time. Plus this bl**dy website has lost a couple of postings recently when I’ve added comments at the same time as another person. You don’t realise until it doesn’t appear then there’s no time to re-do it or remember what you put - very frustrating!
My onc’s appt is routine - I think it’s a follow up to rads but I expect I’ll be told I’ll be having some scans soon. Will make sure they’re after both YD’s and my birthdays so we don’t have that black cloud hanging over us like last year.
Take care all, will keep in touch even if it’s brief.
Nicky xx
ps Lily, we should/are around in the Easter hols so a meet up with or without OH’s would be good!

hi everyone

lily 2000
hope you regain your energy soon, its like someone said i think the tiredness is hitting home more now chemo is over and we are getting back to normal, and dont forget you had quite intense treatment if i remember correctly. do you find the family just think you are back to your normal self now like magic, not that we want them to moddlecoddle us or do we? im trying to give up the cream cakes and anything with lots of calories in and its so hard! but went to a christening sunday and was fed up of looking frumpy.

nicky 08
hope you enjoy paris sounds fantastic, romantic too, even if it is to look at unis.

lisa

what a beautiful place to live.

angie
hope things are fine your way, and you are taking good care of yourself.

have a good week.x

Gosh so much going on her, where to start…

Bevy… being first in a trial now that’s what *I* call brave. My situations just bad luck as far as I’m concerned but taking risks to further progress of treatments is brave and being first is something else. I raise my glass to you.

Wedding plans are in motion…

Mon 30th March in Penrith. Online hen party I reckon as I don’t really go in for that I just want the man and the cake  Mostly the Man (well he is a famous photographer now right

yes that is less than 5 weeks away. OMG. We are keeping it simple and inviting only the closest friends.

Lisa: we really must meet up, we have shiny wheels and the urge to explore, fancy showing me and T something cool around cockermouth. Or binging on cakes/tea at Brystons (have you seen their mini tea, Or both says T

Love the pic BTW

Nicky… life is way too short for ironing, this is why the gods that be invited lycra and hanging things on hangers next to a steamy shower

Enjoy the travelling around. Do you feel comfortable travelling around Europe with the secondaries? I ask because being a geek I have a lot of friends in interesting places and could go see people in Amsterdam etc and wonder if that will even be possible insurance wise. Anyway I’m meeting MacMillian tomorrow and that’s on my list.

Lily your poor MD (Middle Daughter, I get it now). It’s foul foul tasting but those kind of bugs are great with GSE (Grapefruit seed extract) what nicky mentioned earliers actually. It’s one of the only things we have that’s kills viral and bacterial and NOT the host. I use a spray for my fridge, freezer and chopping boards. They use it to sterilise theaters in Mexico (I think it’s mexico) and it’s non toxic (but drinking it neat would make you sick because it’s so strong) if you want/need to know more I can PM you some links to research on it. I’ve used it for a few years and beaten of all sorts. It’s a great alternative to antibiotics IMO.

In case I didn’t say before Lorraine congrats on the scan results… as we geeks say WOOT (which is a combination of Woo hoo and Loot, it’s from role playing games but I think it’s appropriate to jump up and down and go spending at these times)

Loads of love to you all, stay strong, keep fighting if you need to but otherwise just enjoy.

Angie

Hi,
well not a bad day, nothing exciting to report though, so just a nice ordinary day. I was asked about a million times if I was alright, as i am every day but hey not caring would be worse.
Angie congratulations on setting the day. We had a holiday in Penrith and when we got there it was an enormous house in the middle of a traffic roundabout with a little bakers on one side. It had low ceilings and my husband hit his head more times than I like to remember and there was terrible damp on the walls every time it rained. We had a great time visiting all the geographical features and towns around there. What are you going to wear now you have fallen out with your first dress? Online hen party oooh yes. Probably the only time you would get me in something silly. Do you have a theme? Thanks for the tip, they don’t really know what it is as she gets it every few months. An ultra sound showed no problems. I will mention it to her so thanks. Are you starting to feel more like yourself now as you sound great and full of ideas and places to go. Hope you can meet Lisa, it was so nice meeting Nicky.
Nicky will just let you know if anything happens. We are pondering about a holiday at Easter so that may change everything. Just fancy a big house for a week with all the family and partners invited. I am hoping I might be within reach of one of you but if they all come we need a lot of bedrooms which limits where we can stay. Will need 8 if everyone comes. Lorraine i find some days I want to be independent and treated as normal but other times want to be fussed a bit or help offered. The family vary in their ways with the men being last to offer, but will help if I ask them. My eldest who is staying, is always by my side offering help, without me saying a word. The others are in between. How do you get on with a house of men?
Well I am off to bed as yawning again and an early start tomorrow
24 hours in tomorrow to do something nice
Lily x

hiya All
Good luck with all the birthday and hen nights listed, my memory a sieve tonight!!! Very tired too Lily, think it just catches up on us all of a sudden, think its post chemo, trying to do too much etc.

Angie, you sound much cheerier, hope you are doing okay and goes okay tomorrow with Macmillian. I would love to meet up, pre-warn you mind Im very shy in person, Im nervous meeting new people but I suppose we probably know more about each other than lots of people. God, I havent been to Cockermouth for ages, yum mini teas etc. boy Im hungry. We will sort something out, will be good fun and you can lead me astray?!?!

Well, I have some more good news for a chance, my critical illness claim came through!!! WOOP WOOP!!! Never seen more than 3 figures before, but… huge dilema but not sure what to do with it!?! I had the cover with my life assurance which I assume they will cancel now for just part of my mortgage, so it wouldnt pay my mortgage off, but do I want to do that anyhow!!! I havelots of debts, c cards maxed out and thought sod it all year and spent spent spent, sooo do I pay off all my debts and use what’s left to pay a bit or mortgage off or get a little car thats a bit newever, have a few holidays and treat those I love!!!

My sensible side says pay off all debts and a quarter of mortgage but my heart saying sod it, pay off all debts so not worrying, then do nice stuff as I can actually manage my mortgage payments monthly fine if I dont have all the C Card debts and I can spend. My only concern is can I have a mortgage without life assurance??? Soz for blurting but can tell you lot stuff like this when others wont listen… If something happened to me, my house would pay off my mortgage and leave a lump sum and I have a really good pension that would go to next of kin so its not like they would be short of money, what do you think!!!

Love to all and thanks for listening, worked 14 hours today and shattered but head buzzing, hope I can get good news tomorrow at lymphodema appointment xxxxx

Hi all
Having said I wouldn’t be on here much I’ve had a much calmer day so have some time to read and reply
Angie - fantastic news with the wedding date set, I hope all goes really well and you must give us a link to any photos although I guess Tommy will feature in quite a few rather than be taking them all;-) Regarding Travel insurance you are covered by the E111 card for all EU countries. Previously (with secs) I have used miaonline which gives a good cheap cover but when you read their terms they are only offering you cover for possessions, delays etc and the medical bit is covered by the EU. This time, as we have a general travel insurance policy for all those bits anyway, I’m not taking extra cover out. If I go to USA I will definitely take out extra to cover secs but this does tend to be much more expensive.
Lily - glad you’re up to more and hope daughter is feeling better. Do they know what it is/was? Just give me some dates if you’re around over Easter and I’m sure we can sort something out.
Lisa - go for it girl! You’ve been through so much I suggest you pay off all or some of your cards and then treat yourself. If you can cover all your outgoings after that what’s the point in having it in the bank these days. Plus, hate to say it, but who knows what’s around the corner? And you can’t take it with you (cliche city here we come!) Most people only have life cover for a mortgage if it means that anyone left behind after a death doesn’t get thrown out or have to sell but as you only have to worry about what happens to you then I can’t see why you’d need it. Spend spend spend!
Lorraine - hope you are OK and the back is feeling better now. Did it improve when you knew it wasn’t more mets? It’s funny how our mind plays up so maybe you’re feeling better anyway. Also is the job hunt going on are you looking still at DLA? You can get it and continue to work so it wouldn’t stop you having a small part time job as well.
Hi to everyone else on here and hope all is well with you.
Oncs appt for me tomorrow but for once I won’t be worried as I hope there’s nothing to say, if there is she must be able to scan me herself with her eyes!
Bye for now
Nicky xx

Nicky, good luck with tomorrow and hope all goes well as anticipated.

Thanks for the info re money, think Im gonna have a spend, do some nice things and be debt free, nicest thing Im looking forward to is giving my mam and dad some money to do something nice with and my brother and his family xx

Take care everyone, off to look out for some shopping ideas!!

Got told have Lymphodema today, 8%, so looking at the light massage that you do yourself, the only worrying bit is that she said it is possible to move any lurking cancer cells elsewhere but unlikely, got more skin care, exercises and the dreaded sleeve to come - plus side is said just possibly for work or when I felt the need - phew!! The idea of wearing the constant reminder wasnt good!!

Our thread seems must shorter now, hopefully that means that we are all living life again and having fun xxx

Hi,
Nicky I think Lisa nicked your winning lottery ticket.LOL. Well fab news Lisa and you so deserve some good news. We have similar decisions to make and have decided to hit the credit card bills first as the interest rates are really high. Interest on savings is so low but you can put £3600 in an isa each year and that is tax free. I just got mine from my usual bank. I would also keep an emergency fund. With these matters you have to sit on the fence between spend it all now because who knows what might happen and putting yourself in a better financial situation because nothing might happen. Reducing your monthly outgoings means you always have more money to spend so maybe a holiday and more things every year not just this one. Anyway good luck with having such a lovely problem to sort out and fab for thinking of the family too. I agree with Nicky that you should treat yourself to some things too. How about a hunky personal trainer!! Good luck with the lymph treatment.
Nicky hope tomorrow is a positive visit to the onc to give you a boost. Their response has such an effect on us.I managed to get my annual mammos, etc in the Easter holidays, so off work already, what bad timing. I see my surgeon on Monday for my 12 week check as they lost my notes in the snow and cancelled the last one. When are you off to Paris? Travelling is on my list of ‘to do’ things. So many places it would be nice to see.
Speaking of which, Angie is Mull looking likely or will you wait for warmer weather? Sorry forgot Scotland !!!LOL. Scenery will be wonderful and Tommy will be snapping away. Lorraine how are you feeling now?
Had another quite busy ordinary day. I used to always be thinking I wish it was the weekend, half-term, holiday, always something. So I am trying to enjoy now instead of wishing it away. So here’s to good old ordinary middle of the week Wednesdays! Late night at school tomorrow for GCSE option choices. I will be in charge of the twin pretend babies who will no doubt be howling all night. The kids absolutely love them and foster them for weekends. Most are very keen to return them. Found myself clothes shopping for a baby outfit for a doll this week, how weird was that?
Hi to everyone else on here. Hitting the sack
lily x x

Hi Lily, yes, personal hunky trainer never thought of that. Decided to pay off deamon loans and c cards the some treats, an ISA and a fund where I can store money, just in case!!!

Nicky Hope went well today!

Everyone else take care!

hi everyone

glad to hear your are all upbeat at the moment.
lily 2000
only you could pick a holiday home, next to a bakery, and then pretend you didnt know.ah ah! im so glad youve decided to live for today, all those memories you concentrate on making. and if you have a few bad days ahead at least youve not wasted 1 in the past.

angie

online hen party sounds great, we can have some delightful expensive food, and not put an inch on our waists. i really hope you are pain free and enjoy making the preparations. and thanks for the well wishes concerning the scan, i wish i could make yours go away, i will keep praying.

nicky 08

hope everything went well with onc.

lisaf
sorry to hear you have lymphodema, i have it quiet badly under the arm,and on the shoulder in fact it catches on my bra, i too have the excercises but i dont do them enough. i cant believe you manage to work 14 hrs a day, what do you do?

everyone else hope you having fun and lots of laughter, in your lifex

Lisa: Congrats on the payout at last and sorry about the lymphodema, life never gives without taking does it. That’s not to say it doesn’t just take sometimes too of course  Think you’ve made the right call. Seriously anyone asking who and when to pay things whould talk to national debt line about “priority debts”, don’t assume you’re as cornered as you think. There’s rules about being sympathetic and national debt line have sample letters where you literally insert youre own name and address and send it. People have been known to have CC debts just written off as it’s not worth the admin costs to them if you really can’t pay it. The poor house is gone and even worst case… bankrupcy, can be over and done with in 6 months sp please, please NO ONE make yourself ill over money, just talk to them. Right lecture over

We got serious tyres for the new(er) volvo yesterday and had so much fun driving up the bit of the A66 that just goes up and up and up that I actually cackled.

On a bummer not my hair was going all bald ban look so I’ve had to shave it off again. so back to about 1mm right now and a few months before it starts growing I think :frowning:

Wedding plans are going fine, if a little scary. it’ll be 4 weeks on Monday… Waah. Already there’s been one stroppy family member who’s not invited and complaining about being left out. Irony is that every single person we want there have all said that they’d understand completely if we didn’t invite them… isn’t it funny how you don’t want to invite the people who try emotional blackmail. It’s the same 2 people who drove us mad last summer during chemo, remember me complaining about how they practically invited themselves up to help whie I was chemo and then wanted us to take them out and about… yep, them.

Everyone, and I mean, everyone else so far has been so great.

I think this could actually be fun rather that stress as people are just going to pick each other up and sort stuff for themselves, we just need to provide them with numbers from places to stay.

gosh rambling.

Stay well everyone and find your outfits for the hen night online won’t you.

Angie
