Great article Lisa and SO proud of you. Well done and you deserve a pat on the back. Love Val
Yes, well done you Loving the arm LOL. Good for you contacting PALS as well - what a busy girl youâve been.
Well, my âmeetingâ didnât happen as one of the directorâs was away so should be going ahead next week. Donât worry - my 1st question is going to be âis the budget set?â 2nd one is âwhen do I get paid from?â Hopefully all covered in that case. Having said that Iâm still not sure I want to do it so that may tell you something! However I do have a âproperâ job interview tomorrow - yikes! Itâs for a part time job and I need to give a presentation - more yikes! Will let you know how it goes.
OH and I went to see Contagion last night, P, or should I say Bubbles 2? It has a lot of stars in it, Matt Damon looking lush I might say However story is no better than some of the TV series that have also done this âglobal virusâ stuff and there is 1 bit at the beginning thatâs a bit yukky - thought OH was going to faint LOL.
Slenda - youâre sounding better already - hope the weekend is good and your appt with rads Dr went well.
P - sorry to hear about the pump, I also donât know much about diabetes other than my Dad has developed the one that can be controlled by watching sugar intake - and a few drugs I think. Donât think Iâll be popping over to do the plaster work however - may come over for a glass of vino though one day!
Hi to Lily, Val (good to see youâre posting again), Bev and anyone else looking in.
TTFN, ED back home and cooking needs to be done - plus a run through of my presentation.
Nicky xx
Thanks Lily
I am feeling brighter thanks. Had my CT/rads planning appt today. Will finish on December 23rd. Thatâs also my wedding anniversary. I hope weâll feel like breaking open the champagne. The radiographer said I will get skin problems because of the situation of my scar. Oh well, at least Iâve been warned.
Hi,
dear fat arm!!! Honestly what are we going to do with her Nicky? Now if we meet we have to put up with a fat arm too! Wouldnât be so bad if both were fat would it, so they matched but I guess the other one is skinny!!! What do you reckon? By the way do you think both arms talk that other language? Maybe we will strike lucky and one will âtalk proper likeâ.
Sorry Lis couldnât resist taking the p. I thought it was lovely,nI liked the picture, I rather liked the look of the arm too (but donât tell everyone that, I might sound weird!). Are you still talking to us now you are a famous local celebrity? I think it is really cool, well done. Even bigger well dones for putting the complaint in. Good luck for a bit of action from it. Keep us posted.
Nicky hope the presentation goes well, but I am sure you are up to the job. Good luck, if you want it. Would be tricky to turn down if offered it I guess.Fab if you had 2 to choose from. Still it must be a bit sad too as I know you enjoy being home but maybe that would wear off? No I dont believe that either! Hugs x.
Slenda I finished rad on new years eve and it felt to start the year with so much done. I had a bad reaction despite having non burning skin in the sun. I feel the main thing is to stop skin touching skin. All my friends with little boobs that dont touch the skin underneath were fine. All the ones with enough to rest on their ribcage got a sore spot between there. Even so it was nothing like chemo and it passed in days so not really a bad worry. How many are you having and is it just the breast area as some people have other areas too? Mine was just hot and I smelt of burning but got a great nurse who ordered me actiform cool dressings and that transformed it all. Good luck and keep us posted. The heat wont start until week 2 normally but carries on after you stop.Youâll be fine x.
Well better go to bed. Night all from the top with Val in bonny Scotland and who is furthest south?
Special goodnight to the arm, you know which one you are!
Lily x
Ha ha very funny you lot, letâs jsut hope my lymphodema nurse didnt see it or the sleeve will be going back on - the other one isnât much smaller mind so less of the skitting!!
Oh Peacock we could come and christen your house with vino in the sun, t-shirt how nice, mind I would have a scarf on still lol!
Nicky, everything crossed for tomorrow, when havent had an interview for ages itâs very strange⌠hope it goes well.
Lily, hum hum, just wait till we meet my voice will blow you away lol!!! We also say aye at the end of nearly every sentence, althought I talk so much better than some of the blokes I work with, they live 20mins away from me and wow, rough isnt the word!!
slenda, good luck, I must admin considering how large i was and the fact that I still wore my bra and prothesis i hardly had any problems and I a very pale skinned person, mind you the scar tissue is making up for it now!!
Val, lovely to hear from you, hope you are improving every day.
Well no news here, feeling really guilty about the complaint, more about having to face them when they know ive complaint they will be gossiping about me no doubt but needs must. I hope something gets sorted as dont want me mam and dad to cancel hols next may as will loose a lot of money.
Well doing some of my 49 orders and working an hour away from usual work tomorrow, drive back and then go and set up jewellery stall for a church fete on Sat am, then make more bits for Wed for a party⌠happy days, have so many nice beads i want to play with and instead have to make orders
Night all, happy Friday xxx
Well set up for jewellery stall at church fete tomorrow, not expecting much but itâs experience.
Mad as a hatter tonight, some people need to get a grip. One of my really good friends is building an extension and the nurse next door put in a complaint because they didnt want the noise and when itâs school hols she puts notes through their door asking them to be quite in the morning as sheâs trying to sleep. there away at the moment and got house sitters, her sister came round and my friend happened to leave the house as she was driving off, she shouted abuse at my friend who shouted back, the girl well woman in her 40âs got her husband to park up ran back up the road and started shouting at my friend and beat her up on her own path with her kids watching from the window, im sure my mate gave as good as she got but she was distraught at her kids seeing this and that someone that knows hardly anything of the situation would react like that, her friend was inside so held the kids back as they were screeming at the woman to leave my mate alone, the silly coe then danced in front of my mates kids and said hope you enjoyed I did and will be back for round 2. her spineless husband just watched and it took the neigoubrs housesitters to break it up, good job my friends husband wasnt it - my friend is black and blue and fat blue lip and feels ashamed but aint her fault - luckily they have cctv at front of their house after a hate campaign by some freaks at her last street (nothing to do with her honest) so police is off to arrest the woman tomorrow for common assult⌠rant over.
Hope everyone is okay, anything planned for weekend??
Lisa xxx
Hi,
crikey Lis that sounds terrible. I canât beleieve this woman was doing this for the first time if she lost control so quickly so I am guesssing she has a history of violence. With a bit of luck she will have broken terms for a previous conviction and get sorted out. I hope your friend has not got any serious injuries.
Lisa I donât think you should be feeling guilty about the complaint to the hospital aye. They were in the wrong aye. They are only worried about waiting lists and bad newspaper stories aye. So donât worry aye. Just see what happens aye.
Been to Ydâs house tonight for dinner as Victor is creating a jungle mural for the babyâs room and had to draw in the hilly area to separate sky and land. it has lots of monkeys haging on to vines and walking round the doors. Will take a lot of time to do with the stencils.
Oncologist coming up for me soon with my annual check. So off to the blood suckers next week for my big battery of tests. I wonder if they will still leave me on 6 month checks at the hospital? Planning a quietish weekend sorting the house back to normal. My new fridge and freezer arrived yesterday. They can be put together like an american fridge freezer. Separately they look like you could freeze a body in each, quite space age in dark silver. Son is loving the ice cube gadget but too cold for me.
Lily x
stop taking the mic aye!!! Aye, think she has a history, friend works in probation so will find out, her husband didnt do anything so think heâs scared of her.
oh mural sounds nice, ive done a few in the past, good way is to find the pic you want or draw and scan it in then project on wall, love doing it, my niece has 15 murals on her wall that I done, phew was hard work and then done another 4 bedrooms for firends, once was all hand-drawn, my fat arm wouldnt cope these days lol!!!
Lily fridge freezer sounds lush, very jeleous, you must put a kitchen pic up xxx
Yes, that does sound awful for your friend, aye. Ok Iâll stop that little trend now! Glad that cctv is there to tell the truth so hopefully that âladyâ will have a heap of rubbish dumped on her from the authorities. Hope she gets all she deserves.
Yes the F/F combo sounds good. We have an american style F/F in our kitchen but the kitchen fitter - who we didnât choose as it was a new house, really skimped on the brand so the water bit doesnât (and canât) have a filter fitted so itâs not as good as it should be. I keep hoping it will break then I could put a better one in but canât justify the cost to replace it for no real reason. As to murals, I used to do a lot of stencilling in our rooms and really enjoyed that. Some lovely vines around our dining room and various other ones around the house - may even get back into it when I do the next room here. Canât draw for toffee though!
Well, my interview went well (I think, anyway) so I have to wait to hear until next week if I get the job - fingers crossed everyone as Iâd really like it and the hours are exactly what I want as well, plus itâs just down the road - so lots of plusses. Iâll tell you more about it if I get it as I donât want to jinx it.
OH also has a few more things back on the boil on the job front so hoping they - or one of them - comes off soon. Who knows we could both have a job in the not too distant future
Hi to everyone - hope the weekend is good - despite the murky weather. Hope the sale is as good - or better - than the last one Lisa Lass, aye (oops!)
Nicky xx
way aye man⌠sale was good but church fete so bowt £100 and £60 orders, gonna have to be busy bee. had lovely day with kids watching fireworks and taxi driver home was nice and flirty lolxxxxxx speak tomorrow xxx
Hi,
aye well it sounds like these murals are everywhere. Yd had bought stencils from the US and there are trees, animals, leaves, flowes, birds, insects, etc. My favourites are the monkeys that you can have hanging off doors and vines between the trees. Will let you know how it goes. It is the whole room and it is quite big so still on the backgrounds so far aye.
Lisa I see we are on here at the same time, pretty close for another bump aye. Well done again for the jewellery sale and did you check if he had a wediing ring and did you ask where he goes in the evening if no to the first one? Shame aye!Did he aye too?
Nicky well I will def keep my fingers crossed now I know you would like to work there. Sounds ideal so I hop it is a yes. Also G L for hubby. We looked at the american f/f so I know what you mean about the filters, I saw those. We couldnât get as much storage in both the fridge and freezer as we currently have and desperately needed more so thats why we got separate ones. It also meant moving our kitchen layout so it was a compromise. Which room would you do next? I know we all start decorating once someone starts talking about it. Our kitchen is more or less done apart from the window seat, which Victor is designing and then need to get a carpenter to make it. He is doing the utility room himself so lots of filling and plastering at the moment. I hate that part.
I watched x factor tonight. It is puzzling when they say an act is great and they have sounded out of tune to us. I have switched favourites and want Marcus to win now, Janet has gone downhill for me. Pup had her stitches out on friday and has been a little beasty since, so not sure if it is payback or her feeling fine again. She has this bad habit of trying to attack and bite my slipper while I am walking and is going to make me have an accident one of these days when she gets me on the stairs.
Bonfire tea (as the kids call it) has been ordered tomorrow so I have a mountain of baking potatoes and sausages ready.
Well hope you are all well because some of you have been quiet as mice.
Night night from this mouse aye
Lily x
nee wedding ring lol, and it was him asking who i was going home too lo, ages since anyone took an interest was nice lol!
night bumpy xx
Wow, well watched X factor and disappointed, then watched secret millionaire, did anyone watch it, i blubbed so many tears lol! Such a wimp.
Well what has everyone been doing this weekend? Iâve just been sorting orders out and drinking lol! The big diet starts tomorrow, serious this time and then wee treat on Saturday as off to Liverpool on bus trip with girls from work, some people shop but we tend to have hour of shopping then do somewhere lush for lunch then booze and major gossip and catch up as we all work in different areas of county and have totally different jobs xx
Night all, Mondays come around too soon xx
Hi,
Lisa I saw a little part of secret millionaire and saw him crying about the lady with cancer and changed channels. I agree much too sad and I didnât want to see an obituary or similar at the end. Your trip to Liverpool sounds lovely. I miss the big girly trips as I never seem to have enough time. You enjoy for me
We had fireworks tonight. Well more like world war 2 for about 10 minutes. I just bought 5 big rockets and 2 giant display sized fireworks, MD brought a 120 gun salute! I was cowering in the corner with my hood up as last time the wind changed and they kept landing on our heads. We ordered pregnant women and babies indoors to watch through the window and the pup pood in the loungs as so scared! What a night :). Then we had a big feast and they ate almost all of it. We had what I call âdo it yourself puddingâ or apple pie or hot chocolate fudge brownie for pudding. Most people had at least 2 so must have been nice.Do it yourself pudding is my invention for Ed and YD who cannot have milk. So it is crushed digestives, strawberries, soya custard, dairy free ice cream and strawberry sauce and you scoop whatever you fancy into a glass like a sundae. I added extra thick double cream to mine. Strangely they all really liked the biscuit of all things. I had the best time smashing the packet with the rolling pin to make it into crumbs lol.
Oh boo blood suckers this week, remind me if I donât mention it as must go before Thursday. ÂŁ3.20 in parking charges for the privilege!
I agree Monday came round much too soon aye
Lily x
ha that pud sounds quite nice, i would like the biccie bit best too, loose the base on a cheescakeâŚ
Fireworks sound fun, ours were tiny last night, dog has been barking all night at every banger that goes off, lease he wasnt sick this year.
No-one died on secret millionaire it was nice x im such a sop at these type of things.
Well earlish night for me, hope everyone is well xxx
p.s. eugh blood suckers and having to pay, I never pay at local hospital as dad said they dont check machines anymore and they all know my car, gotta have some perks lol xx
Hi ladies - where have some of you gone?
Seems like the Lily and Lisa Show Having said that I always seem to forget to come on over the weekend whereas in the week itâs usually part of my routine whilst I let the tablets go down!
Well, both of you seem to have had some fun, so thatâs good. We were at friends on Sat eve and just did a few sparklers. A bit of a boozy session so a quiet day for all of us yesterday. ED is back off to uni later today and then OH and I are still job hunting, keeping fingers crossed for some good news later this week - for me - and for a good interview for OH. Other than that nothing exciting to report on and as weâre still on âausterity measuresâ (imposed by me!) weâre not doing much spending either, so all rather dull. I have realised I need to start on the Christmas shopping soon - sorry, Iâve said THAT word! Normally once I get the girls stockingsâ done I can breathe a sigh of relief and just get on the internet for everything else - and Primarni of course! Luckily, as theyâre both students, it seems to be clothes vouchers and makeup thatâs needed so thatâs far less challenging than it used to be when Iâd traipse around toy shops for ages!
So, hope all of you have a good week, whatever youâre doing
Nicky xxx
Hi,
definitely good luck from me on the job frony Nick. That would be a disaster for you on war rations over christmas , especially when you do your lovely pressies for the girls.Hmm looking forward to my primark day long visit. I only seem to get into that one shop but it fills the sacks nicely. YD will be tricky as she will be very pregnant and does not do make up, smellies, milk, etc allergic to everything!I usually buy her 2 new coats each year- one very warm and one not so warm for her dog walking business and then pairs of extra warm socks, gloves, hats, etc. They fill it up nicely and then i go for a few trickier pressies and lots of books.
Lisa it is clearly knowing the right person as our hospital nearly had me towed away when I made my own space at a chemo visit and couldnât park anywhere. They didnt even try to warn me just turned round and saw them! Well our show I guess it would have to have tear jerker stories, a bit of a jewellery feature, a large number of food items and a nedical section !
I seem to have forgotten to get mt hair cut and it is the longest it has been for years now.It is about 3 in past my shoulder and despite it not doing what I want i feel like I should treasure it!!! Doeas anyone else have longer hair again? Thinking about a short cut but much too scared as it is curly but maybe not curly enough and might look like an old bobble hat!!!
Night aye
Lily x
Evening all, sorry for my absence, been hectic here and really too tired by the evenings to do much but time to catch up now.
It sounds like you all had a great and safe bonfire night, it is not celebrated here but we do get fireworks throughout the summer in most of the local villages, however I do miss English jacket spuds.
Lily â in answer to the pump question you are of course right, it is to make sure the dose is correct and blood sugars are stable. How lovely that you enjoy being in your new kitchen, for a career move how about doing home cookery lessons in your own kitchen â youâll get the best of both worlds perhaps â teaching and enjoying your kitchen? The jungle mural sounds like fun perhaps a career move for Victor??? (Or entering the young inventorâs competition LOL). I like the sound of your yummy desert DIY, if I leave out the sugar in the custard and use sweetener instead it would be low sugar I think. Have you been to the Vampire lab yet? Hope it went/goes well.
Slenda â I didnât get any skin problems with rads, I was advised to rub the skin with almond oil or even sunflower oil â I did and I donât know if this helped or not but I didnât have any trouble, so you might not have problems, I suppose they have to warn you in case. I donât even remember the tiredness being too bad â mind you on my journey there and back (1 ½ hours each way) I used to doze in the car.
Val I hope you are doing well and getting over the op ok?
Nicky the interview sounds as though it went well so good luck if it is what you want, but will you miss being at home? Christmas shopping, mm mm, apart from the things I bought from Lisa I havenât started yet either.
Lisa â maybe it wonât be long before you have a career move too with all your jewellery bookings and I must congratulate you on the news article. What a horrible time for your friend especially in front of the children, and I hope your complaint to the hospital will do some good aye.
The 2 weeks that Mr P has been home have flown by and bless him, he has gone back to work for a rest! All the plaster boarding is done although not yet painted or âtaped and joinedâ. The house feels and is damp, probably because of a lot of liquid in the covering of the under floor heating and having no working heating yet so I hope the leccyâs put a dehumidifier in to try and try it out. It doesnât help that our weather is very damp at the moment, not raining but just damp. We ordered our floor tiles (in a mid grey colour, like slate) and our bathroom wall tiles yesterday. So ladies if anyone fancies a stay in France, come armed with paint brushes and boiler suits for all the painting work LOL. For the next 2 weeks my job is to keep all the tradesmen on the ball and keep working as it is only 2 weeks to the date I gave them we wanted to move in â this wonât happen I know as weâre no way ready and I am trying to reason with myself that it might be better to take the pressure off Mr P and say we could be moving just after Christmas â it would be lovely to spend Christmas in our own home but no point in rushing if it is too tall an order.
For those of you with American style fridge/freezers, could I ask a question please? I know it has to have a water feed so as to give the ice and cold water but do they need a drainage pipe as well?? Sorry if this sounds a strange question, but not easy to ask here and as we are planning to have one too I thought my buddies might know.
My other piece of news is that I have an operation date for 7 December (sorry Lisa hinny); this is for the tidy up, reshaping and reducing the recon. I have to see the anaesthetist on 24th. My back has been giving me some gip but Iâve been putting that down to extra activity (of the decorating kind ladies) ha ha.
Well Iâm off to close up the chooks now, all 2 of them, and settle down for the night watching Holby and Vampire Diaries.
Ta ta xxxx
Hi,
Peacock nice to hear from you. It is tiring doing all that preparation work on the walls but I think anything that shows some progress is cheering. Its not fair that you are going through all this a second time as I often get a sense of deja vu after our other post with bahons and dipstick. very exciting though to be thinking of moving in dates and from what I experienced I would say add another week or two on to your final date as something always gets delayed. Hopefully not in your case though. With the desserte I think sugar free would be even easier to make as the milk thing is such a problem. She is also allergic to onions and it is only when you start looking that you realise how many products like biscuits even sausages have milk or milk products in. Onion is possibly worse for savoury items.I liked my new job but could I stand them making a mess in my kitchen??? Nooooooooooooooo.
Also very glad to hear you have your dates and that is another reason to get ahead with the house as you will struggle to use that arm for a little while afterwards. Anyway good luck with all your plans, health and house x.
Well not happy as i found put my onc who I trust implicitly is retiring so this will be my last visit, thats if I dont get put to another doc. Feel a bit loose and free as I have such faith in him and have been told he is amazing and constantly on top of research and instantly changing drugs if better results show in trials. he also let me have the more expensive drugs when I asked. Oh dear.
Lily aye x
Morning all - or evening all, when you get to read this!
How murky is the weather? Yuk.
Great to hear from you P - and that youâve got your last (I hope) operation. As Lily says best get cracking with the house as you wonât be able to do much straight away after the op. However it sounds like you and Mr P are exhausted anyway - what on earth do you do with him that he needs to go back to work for a rest? LOL Itâs also very damp here right now (weatherise, girls) and I can imagine how you screed wonât dry out. We had to hire a dehumidifier when we had an extension in our last house to dry it out in time for the flooring tiles to be put down. So much water to be emptied! As to the F/F ours (the cheap version!) has a drip tray which needs emptying every so often - depending how âdrippyâ my 2 Dâs have been when they use it. Ask Lily about the ârealâ version!
Lily - sorry to hear about your one retiring, we do all get used to them - most of us (Lisa excluded) in a good way. Yours sounds very on the ball and at least he was around for all your âactiveâ treatment. Good luck with your next appointment and, sorry, I canât remember when that is. BTW your hair sounds soooo long! Very different look to when weâve met up. My hair is still short but Iâm growing it a bit to get the layers out and be a bit sleeker. Luckily it grows quite quick so I may be there by Christmas.
Well, Iâm still waiting to hear about the job, possibly the postman will bring the good - or bad - news today. OH has a couple of interviews this week and still things sort of bubbling under - just bloody wish theyâd bubble over! My friend start her chemo this week which does bring it all back - yuk! I sorted out my chemo record book for her to see, now why did I keep that? Just looking at it makes me nauseous. Hopefully all will go well with her but it looks like it wonât be great timing around Christmas On a lighter note OH and I have decided to book a day trip to see our D in Paris - how glam is that? Yet again, thank you Tesco for our free flights! We are going early and back late and hope to see the Christmas Markets there - well, youâve got to do something different each time. Although this sounds very expensive itâs actually cheaper than going to London for the day - and a bit more exciting! Plus, in our (OH and my) austere times, it saves a bit not staying overnight.
Hope you all have a good week whatever youâre doing
Nicky x
