Darling buddies from May - moving on

hi

glad to hear everyone keeping busy. that means you all must be feeling relatively well. a few aches and pains due to the medication.
but so much better than this time last year.

succomed to a fry up at weatherspoons this morning, dont know how im going to get this weight down, just got no willpower, and seem to be growing larger by the day. aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

not much to say tonight, so goodnight god bless everyone.x

Hi,
well if anything is wrong/forgotten, these days I just automatically apologise thinking it is chemo brain AGAIN. So it was nice to know that when the hairdresser turned up today and I wasn’t expecting her, it was actually her fault as she had come on the wrong day. Maybe the memory is coming back slowly.
Lisa you will always be young to me! The tiles are terrezzo and are made from concrete with marble chips in them, which are then polished smooth. Tescos use them on all their floors apparently! Not sure if they sell them to the public or just for commercial buildings. We have had one expensive quote for tiling but the second one came in today at half the price. Just waiting for the third later this week. I will be very pleased to see the horrible tiles gone. Have you made any more plans yet? Paperwork follows me wherever I go with my job! Pain in the neck.
Nicky have a great time and we will talk later. Hope you get all the attention you deserve when it is your birthday. Put all the black thoughts out your head for a while and just have a great week or two. Worrying doesn’t change anything but could make you miss out on some fun days. Lorraine were we separated at birth by chance? We would be very bad for each other if we lived close enough to share cakes!!! I am still pondering about what to wear for red nose day. Some of the men at school are not impressed as they got caught with cross dressing! A bit odd in a school I thought. The kids will have a great time and be really hard to get settled. Hope we raise a lot of money. I am raising money for our local cancer support centre that offers councelling, manual drainage for lymphodeama, reflexology, bach flower stuff, etc and paid for the building we get treated in, instead of a ward in the hospital. They can get £5 for any old mobile phone so I am trying to raise 100. I have 16 so far and I only just started. I am also going to do the race for life, but walking with some of my other local Bc buddies.
Right yawning my head off so nighty night all
Lily x

Just popped in before bed as need to wind down as organising my self to the scary point. Dad just put new cd rack up, found all my old ones, cleaned them all and put them away in alphabetically order, sad or what! For those that dont know me, I as soooo organised at work but house a mess and can never find a document or anything, well Im getting sorted, justhope its me trying to keep things easier for myself and went through a tidy up phase before found out results last year just in case!!! Boy the time of year does get to you, Nicky hope your birthday is much better and enjoy YD’s tomorrow.

p.s. I had some yummy birthday cake for someone at work today. However, day 3 and no booze still!! How bad does that make me sound. No go tomorrow though as working away again so stopping at friends for a few catch up drinks.

Night night xx

No time for catch up but Hi everyone.

Nicky: happy birthday for your Daughter.

Lisa: Happy
 organising!

wedding plans are going well but so much to do even just basic organising.

Lisa will be in Cockermouth this afternoon so wave if you happen to be near Percy House (Gallery) a few of Tommy’s pics will be there next week so drop in if you want to see them. Not sure how far away that is for you.

Right I promise to catch up with you all soon, How about Thursday 26 for a little online hens evening, doubt I’d be awake by late night now. You know how rads knock you out.

Lots of love and hope birthdays, treatments etc go well and glad this year is better than the last Lorraine. I feel the same despite recent bad news, still feel better than I did 2 weeks after my mastectomies which is where I was a year ago.

Lots of love to everyone

Angie

hi everyone

been dentist today, (im normally a coward, but thought im not going to settle until i go) took my 13 year old son too. dentist told him about not brushing his teeth, and seems to have worked. funny how we can tell them and they take no notice. i need 3 fillings, but am relieved none to be pulled.

then had another thining out of hair, but am a little dissapointed because curls seem to be dissapearing the more i have it trimmed.

the diet as gone right out the window at the moment, sm portion of chips at lunch, and choc sponge tonight.

vertangie
so nice to hear from you. glad you feeling a little better than last year too, even though you have loads to deal with. hen party sounds great, did we have a theme or not? i will go and look online for champers.
everyone take care and happy birthday nicky, not sure which day it is.x

Hi All,

Nicky hope your daughter had a great birthday it is my sons tomorrow poor love Friday the 13th!! so I naturally consider the no.13 a lucky one!

I have had the results of my blood tests to check the stage of menopause I have reached as the surgeon felt I could have been shunted through to being post menopausal by the chemo. No such luck I am entering a natural menopause (with only one overy!) so I must continue with the Tamoxifen and cannot change to an armatose inhibitor as yet. I wonder why they just dont shut the existing overy down or is there a reason this is not done as it would make me feel happier to know the oestrogen could not keep pumping out from the overy and possibly cause me problems. What do you girlies think and how have you dealt with that one?

Angie glad to hear the wedding plans are coming along well and the Hen party online sounds a great idea (now what shall I wear?)

love to all,

Bev x

Hi,
well Bev what a coincidence, little chap has his birthday tomorrow too and will be 4. I have also changed my views on the number 13 as he arrived on that day. But I still wouldn’t fly that day!!! Hope you all have a lovely day celebrating. How old will he be? I am the same keen to get on to an AI rather than tamoxifen. The onc won’t even test me until it is 24 months since the last period. Is yours following the same idea or was it routine to check. I am not sure why they don’t shut everyone down if they do not want more children, most likely worried we will all start crumbling from loss of bone density. The AIs make you much more likely to have fractures of bones. The tamoxifen should be blocking any estrogen produced and it is apparently one of the most successful drugs ever produced, so I guess we should not worry too much. My onc likes femara apparently, any idea what you would be given next?
Lorraine you were brave, I hate the dentist. My teeth felt a bit odd straight after chemo so I have been trying to be gentle with them after reading that someone on here lost 5 teeth from her chemo. Bad luck about the curls, I was hoping for them too but mine is straight. Angie Thursday 26 sounds good and will be looking for an outfit. Are we sexy, funny, glam? Have fun making all the plans.
Lisa the lack of alcohol is obviously getting to you now!!! Alphabetical CDs, def sad! My hand is down my top checking non stop, so the time of year is getting to me too. I keep checking out my scar tissue, which is a bit lumpy. The big squeeze next month (mammos) and hope that will settle me down. Work is getting a bit tougher as people just keep trying to dump more work on me. I have no form room so have to trudge around to 11 different rooms to teach, carrying things and as the hours are increasing it is talking its toll a little. I was having pulling sensation under my bad arm and warned my line manager so they back off for a bit. Mostly it is fine but if I teach 3 hours in a row I feel knackered. Eating cakes to restore my energy so getting fatter!Nicky hoep you are having a great time and congrats to littlun. Julia how are things? Hope it was not too bad being on the heart monitor and have you heard any results from that yet?
Both the men in my house are thinking of buying cars (hubby a newer one and son his first) and so that is the only conversation they seem to have these days! Yahooooo NOT.
Hugs all round

Hi all: Just had a quick read thru all your news and most of us seem to be OK, Angie – you sound very up – keep at it. This anniversary stuff is a real pain – this week was one year from my op and I kept thinking “this time last year I was

” which doesn’t help.

Had the monitor thing Wed/Thurs and my darling sister said that with all the wires hanging around me I must have looked like a suicide bomber – she expected to hear that I was on my way to Camp Gitmo complete with orange suit!! That has gone now but the sticky stuff is still there – nothing will shift it, will have to wait for it to wear off. Have echo-cardiogram on Monday and then nothing until I see the Prof on 30 March – showdown day! We are off to Scotland on 23 to stay with friends so will forget all about this lot until we get back. Still can’t make up my mind about the Herceptin but may have chat with girlfriend (my neighbourhood drug dealer – sells myloma drugs to the NHS) to see if she has any info I haven’t already found myself. Still worried about the heart effects as according to one American site up to 30% of women get reduced heart function or other problems. It is just balancing the risks I guess.

On to more interesting things: Hair is doing OK now – fairly thick and starting to curl at one side – still not quite up to going out standard but only wear wiggy to office, etc, not at home.

Arimidex seems to be fine – so far no side effects but it is early days – coming up to week 8, another 252 to go! Will have to start taking calcium I think to help with the bones.

The diet is still working – 6lbs down in three weeks. Just got to keep away from the carbs – out to dinner at friends on Sat night so hope I am not faced with piles of pasta or spuds or pastry. Ho hum!

Looks like weekend weather is yucky tomorrow but nice on Sunday – gardening sounds about right for then.

Have a good weekend everyone, keep smiling and enjoy whatever you re doing.

Love to all.

Julia

Julia that is a fantastic result on the weight you have lost well done! I have just bought some new scales as ours were 30 years old and disgusting I am hoping that they weren’t working correctly too so when I carefully place my body on the new ones they wont groan too much. I have just put my wedding ring in the jewellers to be stretched to the next size as it is too uncomfortable. Good luck with making the decision regarding the herceptin.

Nicky I agree with you I am so glad to be rid of wiggy although I am still very concious of my hair being severly short and will be glad when I get a bit more growth.

Lily my Tommy is 27 today the age I was when I had him doesn’t seem that long ago really. We wont see him until Sunday as he is out with his girlfriend today and more friends tommorrow. Re the horomone level test I had it as my mirena coild had been removed and they wanted to check where exactly I was but as you say the tamoxifen has good results to we will have to stick with the side effects. My next blood test will be in Nov. I seem to remember my Onc favoured Arimidex for the AI. Regarding the carrying of all those books around the school could you not use a wheelie bag. If you look in Lakeland Stores or online they do a variety of bags on wheels some covered and one that is really just a plastic basket with wheels but they all have a long handle so much easier to use. They can just be bumped up and down stairs as you would with a buggy.

Lorraine I too went to the dentist and he really gave my teeth a good and thorough clean which felt great

Hope you are good Lisa and special thoughts to you Angie.

Have a good weekend girls.

hi everyone

lily 2000
people soon forget what youve been through dont they. not that you would want special treatment, but just a bit of courtesy. if they want you to be back to full performance, it makes sense to let you take it easy at first. do you have a celebration for grandson, mine have a party at mine most times, any excuse!

julie
well done on the weight lose, put me to shame, and bang goes my reasoning that you cant always lose the weight when on tamoxifen.
looking forward to my teeth having a clean bill of health.

back on now, been watching corrie, little dissapointed in the wedding. anyone do anything for comic relief, i didnt this year.

my moods are a little unsettled anyone else feeling that way?

take care x

hi ordered the canapes for angies hen party, what do you think?

Hi,
Lorraine all I can sya to your pictures is YES please!!I spent the day dressed as Audrey Hepburn for red nose day and was really hot with a wig and headscarf on. Walked into the wall with my dark glasses on.LOL. Kids and teachers alike seemed very impressed with my wig and some suggested I should grow my hair like that. Oh if only it was that simple. However I am having it dyed tomorrow so maybe that will brighten it up. I am mostly quite cheerful but watching the African babies dying of malaria made me feel very sad and set me thinking about myself.
Bev I hope the new scales are kind to you and can I point out that kg sound much kinder if necessary. My ring is tight but would have to be cut off so it can just stay there for now. Hope you have a nice celebration with your son on Sunday. I know the pull alongs you mean but I permanently move floors and buildings at present. Some teachers use them at the start and end of the day but in between would not be possible as our school is full to popping point. Some days you can bearly get through the streams of kids to get in and out. Like herds everywhere! Thanks for the thought though. Today was fine, no-one could concentrate, far too excited.
Julia, congratulations on the weight loss, very impressive. I am very envious that you are able to have more control than me! I laughed about you and the wires, hilarious. Keep us posted on how the next stage goes. Know what you mean about the anniversary. MIne was 29 Feb so there wasn’t one this year but mammos in 3 wekks, argghh. Trip to Scotland is just the thing to take your mind off it all.
Everyone else hope you are ok. Little chap was 4 today and there was rather a mountain of pressies when I wrapped them. Still a lot were new clothes, which he really likes as long as they have a picture on. He has a party tomorrow so I have to be up making little ham sandwiches as my daughter is vegetarian and can’t face ham.
Enjoy the weekend everyone

hi everyone

waiting for a cuppa and brekky, wasnt up till 9.15 so cant have anything till about 11. so doing a bit of housework, but just cant be bothered , think i only do it cos of hubbys expectations. just throwing some of my heeled shoes out, not comfortable for the back, and comfort seems to come first these days. its a beautiful day here so probably be out somewhere by lunch, find i dont like the silence so much at moment when everyone else is out. good excuse to go out anyway. x

Hi,
well was it just me or did everyone else get locked out the site for the weekend? I reckon hackers got in! Well it was a lovely weekend, both weather and content. Little chap’s 4th birthday party was a heart bursting afternoon. He had an entertainer who was so good with them but when he had to help with the magic and he got a trick floppy wand, he burst into tears! The man also had a bubble and snow (foam) machine, which they all went totally manic about. I was MADE to jump up and down with him while 2 dozen assorted adults watched on, no doubt glad they had escaped it. The helium balloons kept poppinh on the artex and making everyone jump out their skins! All in all a grand afternoon. I got a puncture in the morning, picked up a nail somewhere and had to gingerly drive the car to the nearest tyre garage as hubby could not get the wheel off to put the spare on. Had to have both rear tyres replaced which was quite a tidy sum. Handed over cash tonight for my son to get his first car, which should arrive tomorrow evening. He is so excited, it is a metallic blue citroen saxo, but it could be a ferrari, he is so pleased!! So a pretty expensive weekend, better make sandwiches all week for lunch.
Hope you have not all been breaking the bank, although we have a good excuse, saving the country’s economy.LOL. Lorraine hope you did have a nice day out and yummy lunch. Angie was it all wedding plans this weekend? Nicky happy birthday this week, you did not say which day? Lisa how did your weekend go? Julia and Bev hi.
Lily x

Hi all, sorry I havent been on been having a busy weekend. Sound like you have all been having fun!!! Had a nice weekend and have a little gossip for you, had a sort of date today!!! Cant believe Im even saying that!!! Forgot what it is like, havent had a date for about 13 years so bit wierd but wasnt a proper date. Its two of my best mates brother which is a bit wierd but we have been having drunken bits and pieces for about 2 years and I do like kids and his daughter is 9 and she followed me about at a family party all night last night and hugging me and stuff which is quite nice, so we (all three) of us went to pictures today and then for some food of course!!! So, there you go, he didnt ask me his daughter asked me to go with them. ITs a bit strange as he works in London so not sure if anythign will come of it and my dad isnt best pleased but in my dad’s eyes no one good enough and he’s a lovely bloke would do anything for you and the cancer stuff doesnt bother him at all
so there you go, cant believe Im telling you.

Well off for last wine until next weekend and about to watch p.s. I love you, its the book that got me back reading and its fab never laughted and cried so much for an age so heard teh DVD isnt as good.

Hope everyone doing well love from a bit more positive Lisa xxxx

Lisa how exciting! he sounds nice and that is exactly what you deserve so enjoy yourself.

Lorraine I am in agreement with Lily yes please me too!!

I had trouble watching the red nose event as it made me feel too sad this year to be able to cope with it so opted out.

Hope you are doing o.k. Angie and are busy making all those wedding plans.

I had a lovely day yesterday with my son and his girlfriend to celebrate his birthday which was on friday.

Wishing you all a good week

Bev x

Hi,
wow Lisa you are a real expert at the photos now. Is that the same friend? Ok I’ll get straight to the point - what are drunken bits and pieces for about 2 years??? Sounds very interesting. Is this the same guy you spoke about before, in the pub? I think you might need to make a move or drop a big hint to one of his sisters. He may just be waiting, thinking you need time to get over all the treatment and ops. Anyway good for you and what are you wasting time for? Good luck. Bev nice to hear from you and that you had a good celebration too. My son’s first car arrived tonight, unfortunately it was in the dark so we have been outside with a torch trying to look at the bodywork. (Our road is really dark as a lorry knocked the street light down and they won’t replace it as it was done deliberately by someone who didn’t want it on their new drive.)It appears to be a very good buy, so lets hope we continue to think that. He is most impressed by the stereo and is already on ebay looking for the loudest speakers he can find to put in. I have swiftly opted out of being the first, second or third person to take him out in it. Once Oh says he seems safe I will go in it with him. He asked if he could drive it down to our holiday. Watch out Nicky lol. I am really yawny after a late night at school and I have another late tomorrow so will be snoring on the desk by lunch. I had my hair cut again and dyed. It beats me how she cuts my hair and I end up looking like I have more hair than before? She has added a couple of colour, which have warmed it up and also brighter golden brown flecks. No longer a badger more like a tortoiseshell!
Love to you all
Lily x

Hee Hee Lily, youve made me blush!! It is the same guy and I think we are both just a bit of loners and used to own company so will see what happens, dont want to risk friendships with two of my best mates but its sooo easy and get on great with all his family!

Getting good at the photos now arent I, that is my total best mate, not my longest standing but known each other for 20 years now andget on sooo well, Im godmother to her 14 year old son and she’s now got a 6 month old - age gap or what!

Glad your son has hes new wheels, god job we dont need to keep wigs on anymore!! Im gonna get mine cut again, even used my straightners at weekend, mind someone asked why it was growing as liked the cropped, almost shaven look - yeah as if eh!!!

Well, bowt to get into bed and watch DVD befoe back at work tomorrow, did I mention 3 days to go, then 6 days holidays from work, heee hee.

Love to all and hope everyone bearing up!!! Bad diet today but boy, fresh chips by harbour, cant beat it.

Hope all the birthdays have gone well and everyone doing okay! Think this site must have lost some members, I find I come on my saved discussions but dont look anywhere else xxx

hi everyone

weather been great hasnt it. lovely day out at warwick, and lemington spa yesterday. then i went to sis whos in queen elizebeths at birmingham, she has had 60 percent of her liver took away. she looked dreadful last night, but her hubby says shes looking better today. at least its out of her body, she will be back on the chemo soon, which shes dreading.

lily 2000
you must be on a good earner, spoiling your son, but its worth it if they achieve something. my eldest son is always telling me about mums like yourself, but i just smile and say sorry your stuck with me. hope you manage to get in his pap pap soon, its a bit like when my youngest son brings his cooking backk from school, and you have to try it. ohhhhh the joys of motherhood. you never know one of them might become a gorden ramsey or steven mansell of the future.

lisaf

way to go girl! a new man on the horizon, suprising what can happen in a year.

angie

thinking of you, all the best
