almost happy thank you
x
His Gp could do a few checks on him Lily, like BP, looking behind his eyes, sounding him and a few other things. But I know what men are like they will only go when THEY are ready, if at all! Fingers crossed it is just as you say.
Hope you have a great birthday. I share February with you too. I have the outfit at the ready but nothing planned as yet but not until nearer the end of the month.
Sleep well. And an almost happy birthday to you. XX
Well, Iāll say Happy Birthday dear Lily but Iām a bit confused with you late night posters! Is today tomorrow or is tomorrow tomorrow? Either way have a lovely day and enjoy the weekend, Iām sure you will be seeing the family - and eating cake if we know anything about you hope Victor is feeling better by then and, as V1 says it may be worth getting blood pressure etc checked at the doctors there may be something worth checking.
Hi to everyone else - Slenda, , a girl after my own heart lol, come to that so is Lisa with her wild nights out, thereās still plenty of life left in my legs to do the same and I do enjoy a good bop, giggle and a few vinos
Well, hopefully my car will have its bumps sorted out today, then onto the big sell! Havenāt sold a car in ages and Iād rather have OH around but of course heās at work too far away now to sort out a mid week viewing so it will have to be weekend viewings only and only when heās here as heās away quite a bit over February. Iām sure weāll get it done.
Have a good day everyone, especially if it is your birthday Lily! Wrap up warm, even those lucky enough to be Couried in!
Nicky xx
Ps if my avatar changes its from comments on a different thread and is in fact the inside of a snowdrop
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LILY HAVE A GREAT ONE XXX
Love Carole
Evening from a chilly France
Lily what a relief that Victor is taking things easy and I hope the nasty bugs just do their work on him and not the rest of the family. For a virus Iām not sure the doc could do anything other than dish out paracetamol and cough mixture, although perhaps with a fever it could be a sign of an infection of some sort? You are the mainstay of the family so you take care of yourself to keep the others going. Hope your birthday has been good.
Lisa you would be the first contact if a single, hunky French male crossed my path but sorry to disappoint you, no offence intended to anyone here, but most of the French males I come across are definitely NOT hunky! Itās something to do with genes I think, the French nationality are generally small boned and small in stature, hence the reason why French clothes just donāt fit a size 16 lady (thatās me). Try not to think too much about the op, it will be here soon enough and once over youāll wonder why you were worried. Thatās easy for me to say I know, but this time last year I was where you are at now and I am so glad it was done.
Val I enjoyed reading about your food exploits, I donāt like oysters either but I have eaten frogs legs (they taste like chicken) and I love langoustines, crayfish, lobster, muscles and prawns. You have a sensible food philosophy, one of which I was the same with our children too.
Nicky good luck with any viewings over the weekend and a quick sale will bring a quick new car LOL.
Very cold here today, some snowflakes but just blowing in the wind. Had another launderette trip this morning at 07.55 (timed it with dropping YD off at school) but at least I had a choice of machines to use, trust me no-one goes to the launderette at that time. Temperature minus something all day, had to keep breaking the ice on the outside water bowls and just hope the poor chickens will cope with ā 10 degrees as predicted. Iāll let you know tomorrow if frozen chicken is one the menu LOL.
Slenda I hope you are making the most of your extra time off and taking it easy?
Nite nite ladies, stay tucked up in the warm. XX
Hi,
well another busy day in a very busy week. Victor tried to go out and was a bit woozy so I am threatening him with the docs tomorrow if not better. he says he is better just not quite himself. Val i have a bp and pulse machine at home and did it quickly after he got home and all was fine so that calmed my worries at the time. I read up about it and one doc said anyone over 45 who faints for the first time must be seen. The other one siad only go if it happens a second time! He is staying home and working so at least not travelling tomorrow.
Nicky today is my birthday or bufday as we call it. They had bought me a cake at work and all sang while I blew the candles out and had some nice pressies too. Tonight everyone came round again for chinese take away and stuffed their little faces, except Victor. So lots of cuddles with baby and smiler and little chap. What a situation, whichever baby I held, the other mummy said oh nanna donāt you want ⦠I tried both at the same time but smiler is too strong and wriggly to be safe. Anyway Victor bought me some lovely amber earrings, a wii dance 3 disc and some clothes. Ed and son had a big bouquet delivered and also bought me a giant pink french fancy birthday cake. MD bought me snow boots for footy matches or maybe the snow we are expecting! Little chap made me a photo frame and drew a picture of him, smiler, the pup and our old dog we lost to put in it. So sweet. He also made me a card with pictures of dogs in it for me to colour in Yd bought me a plant from baby to grow in the garden to keep and a jumper and then from my other relatives, lots of cheques and vouchers to spend. Too cold to venture out at the moment to spend them.
Well hopefully the week will quieten a little. I am baysitting tomorrow so prob wonāt get on to post as they plan to be very late.
take care and do anything you need to (like shopping) asap because snow is on its way and going to stay for a bit they say
Chilly Lily x
yeay happy birthday Lily, sounds like you had some nice food, CAKE and lots of lovely treats, hope you get out soon to spend them all. Hope Victor is much better tomorrow!
Ha, one in each arm you would be aching like mad if you stayed like that all the time.
Enjoy the babysitting.
Peacock, hope it doesnt hit -10, -4 here this am and soooo cold, if it snows it may warm up a bit but so hate driving in the snow especially ice. Well sounds like we all prepared with our snow boots, mine are fluffy inside and fit just nice with thermal socks lol! Lily love the sayings, keep them coming, all new to meā¦
Night all, back on diet but didnt go for weigh in this week as proper stayed off the diet for 5 days⦠back now though xx
Hi ladies
What a lovely day you had Lily, sorry my brain wasnāt computing when the actual day was! Chinese takeaway, how yummy was that? I could eat that and leave the cake but Iām guessing you would do it the other way around lol
Hoping Victor feels much better by the weekend, itās alright being Iāll in the week, but not on your days off.
P, love the photo. Was that taken near you? We have a family of deer at the back of us, week a mum and two young ones, obviously a one parent family lol. Hope the freezing weather doesnāt last too long so that your washing machine can get back into action. Itās a pain visiting a launderette but at least France still has them, you canāt find them for love nor money round here.
Lisa, good luck getting back on the diet wagon, you know you can do it and youāre heading for the home straight with the weight loss. Donāt panic about the finish line though btw I did see a posting about insurance from you, have you sorted that? I hope so as it could be a bit tricky so soon after your op - sorry donāt want to worry you but I have real problems getting reasonable insurance with my mets so I know itās a minefield at times.
Hi to Val, hope you are cooking and eating well all sounds lovely. I also used to give my daughters everything and they were really good when they were younger even as babies. I used to cook up vegetable stews and purĆ©e them, they hardly ever had jars. They are very adventurous and both love oysters, like I do. YDās favourite food in Paris is steak tartare, ie raw and is always asked by the waiter if she knows itās raw, well she used to be until she started ordering in French!
Hi Slenda, hope that being off work is replenishing your energy levels. Take it easy and build them up slowly, we all take different times to recover.
Hi Bev, hope all is well with you.
A cold frosty start again, sounds like the whole country for a change. No real plans over the weekend so if it does snow we should be ok, just make sure Iāve got the food shopping done today. I collect my car, the old one from the repairers, today so wonāt be selling it this weekend, probably in a couple of weeks time once Iāve cleaned it inside and out and taken lots of photos to put on the advert.
Have a great weekend everyone, wrap up warm and use those snow boots
Nicky xx
Brrrrrr, itās so cold! Hope you lot are nice and warm and tucked up indoors?
Iāve had a pretty horrid day ā yes another one! This morning when I got up I discovered we had no water from hot & cold taps, because the pipes had frozen. They run along the garage and as it was -7 when I got up I suppose they were bound to be icy. I managed to defrost the standing pipe in the field to get some water, and then proceeded to boil up kettles and pots to try and defrost the pipes. I didnāt use boiling water, of course I used only slightly hot water for fear of splitting the pipes. I continued this for 2 hours before deciding to phone the plumber. He arrived with an industrial hairdryer and it took him an hour to defrost the pipe that runs from the boiler to the valve with 4 feeds (see Iām getting good at this jargon), then he attached a pipe to the boiler that flushed hot water through the cold pipe, voila after a few minutes we had water again. The said pipes are now doubly wrapped with insulation so hopefully it wonāt happen again, Iām just waiting for the toilet pipe to defrost so the toilets can be flushed again and in the meantime hope YD or myself donāt suffer upset tummies. Oh and with all this hassle, I think I may have fractured/cracked a rib again as I was leaning forward to do the insulation and felt a pop, and a pain in my side. I will see tomorrow if it hurts as before when I have fractured ribs I never felt anything, it just started hurting.
I have some news about the chickens : this afternoon one was making an awful noise and when I went to investigate the grey one ā Blanche ā was trapped in between the shed and a water butt. I managed to get her out but she was in distress and panting heavily and orange ā the ginger one ā was still making a noise so I had to catch her too and put them both inside the coop as they donāt like the cold wind weāve had. Hopefully tomorrow they will be ok.
Lily enjoy the babysitting, Val hope you arenāt uncomfortable this weekend and manage to get out for a bit if the weather allows, Nicky enjoy your quiet weekend cleaning your car with your new car to look forward to and the picture is the field next to ours, the deer was about 20 metres away. Slenda thinking of you too and Lisa hope it isnāt too cold for you either and your diet is back on track.
Carole xxx
Oh Carole poor you sounds like a hell of a day and very cold too.
Nicky, glad you have supplies at the ready, diet back on but been invited to a friends tomorrow and her hubbie is cookings, sounds lovely and not too fattening (well I hopeā¦).
Insurance, argh, not sure what to do for best, wasnt sure I would get insurance based on me having an op planned, better do some reasearch this weekend.
Have a nice wrapped up weekend all xxx
Hi Carole, what a bl**dy day you had, not only cold but no bk**dy water or heating! I really hope you havenāt done any ham to your rib but ED cracked her rib last year just coughing so I know it can happen. I bet you were feeling very sorry for yourself , and I donāt blame you
Lisa, have a lovely time tonight, assuming you can still get there, depending on the weather, and donāt worry about the calories, just enjoy But do sort the insurance out, you canāt risk it in the States.
Have a good weekend everyone, blimey itās cold!
Nicky xxx
Hi ladies, from a bitterly cold France.
No improvement in temperatures, still in the minus degrees, water pipes all frozen again today so no water here and with minus temperatures forecast for the next week I think Iām going to be a smelly Peacock soon!
Ribs are very sore, bending, lifting all difficult to do but YD has been helping. Iāve dosed up on tramadol, paracetamol and ibuprofen and Iām still sore.
Lisa, I think you need insurance for America, medical treatment there is very expensive should you need it. Hope you enjoy your meal with your friends.
Hi to everyone else, gosh itās quiet on here, wonder how Lilyās babysitting went.
Take care everyone, anyone had snow yet??? xxxx
Hi P, sorry you are so sore, not good. Please get it checked out. Having said that thereās nothing to be done if you have cracked a rib. No water, OMG, not good hope things in every way improve soon.
Snowing here in Hants, wasnāt much earlier on but has now been steady for 2 to 3 hours, letās see what itās like in the morning. From the forecasts I reckon Lily will be snowed in
Nicky xx
Hi,
well lots of snow here. It started quite late into the evening and we are now covered in a white blanket. Pup came back in looking like a snowball of course and very excited. I donāt think it is very deep and has stopped again so will wait to see what it is like in the morning. Son and the rest of the chaps are going paintballing and even more excited now there is snow to roll around in! Bet it will be freezing. My expecition to buy new lights is cancelled and will stay in and do school work instead. By the way Victor is back to normal (?) and feels fine, so snow permitting is back to work on Monday. Never managed to get him to the doc!
Peacock I hope you havenāt injured yourself badly but yes I agree you will ahve to get it checked out. Hope chucks are ok too. Frozen pipes sounds like a nightmare, better leave the heating on low all night just in case internal pipes get too cold if you have good roof insulation. What a worry. My tumble has gone wrong and making a terrible noise. Engineer said over the phone that is a big bill so just getting a new one.
Lisa no cheating on your diet, you know it makes sense!!!
By the way is everyone snowed in?
Nicky you just got the car back in time and I wouldnāt get a new white one with the salt and grittters about if I were you, would be very sad to see it all mucky so quickly
Babysitting was good apart from one 5 minute session when he let rip and shouted his head off as he was so tired but didnāt want to fall asleep. he is a rascal for that and wakes himself up deliberately by wacking his face with his hands. Baby is asleep all day and wanting cuddles all night so YD is rather tired at present. he is absolutely impossible to keep awake! between the two of them is normal living !
Keep warm
Chilly Lily x x
Not much snow here, just a bit of a covering but it could be icy on our little lane as the gritters donāt come anyway near it. Yes, Iām glad I got my car back in time Itās not going anywhere now, I can use the little one the girls drive, which is what Iāve done the part couple of years anyway, when weāve had bad weather.
Glad Victor is feeling better although I doubt heās looking forward to the return to commuting and work in this wether, brrrrrr. What is it with babies that they donāt understand when to sleep? Poor YD, she must be soooo tired. How is she doing with her own recovery? Hopefully doing well.
Hi to everyone else, be careful out there if its snowed, keep warm and I hope it doesnāt cause any of you too many problems.
Nicky xx
Catch up later, no snow here, not even a sprinklingā¦
So glad you enjoyed your bufday Lily in the bosom (sorry!) of your family and good news about Victor too.
Frozen pipes and no water AND broken rib - poor you peacock.
All that talk of French food and seafood - yum, love it all including the oysters. When I was much younger I lived in Zurich for a while, first came across Steak Tartare there and it quickly became my favourite. They also used to check that I knew it was raw. I loved the ceremony with the waiter adding all the flavours and raw egg.
Today OH took me out unexpectedly for a local pub lunch. I had rare roast beef. A favourite, not found in many pubs.
Here at the Sussex seaside we had a short flurry of snow yesterday evening which was quickly washed away by a night of sleet and rain. Not a sign of white now and quite a mild day compared with the last few. Birds are singing and getting amorous outside. I hope none of you have had any frozen mishaps.
Saw GP on Thursday, sheās referred me for some CBT. She thinks these lingering side effects and not being able to cope with work have resulted in depression. Unfortunately I think sheās right. Iāll give it a go. Have to phone on Tuesday to make an appointment.
The light is starting to fade now, going to put the fire on and snuggle down for a cosy evening. Stay warm everyone.
Well the expected snow arrived this morning, when I got up at around 9 am it was already a couple of inches thick and looked so pretty. Off and on all day weāve been snowing but the temperatures did warm up for a bit. Gone cold again now. We still have no water, YD and myself had to have a bath throwing a bowl of water over ourselves to wash and clean our bits! Am feeling really sorry for myself and just have no idea what I can do to fix the problem. Iāve tried a paint stripper over the pipes (carefully not to burn them) to try and defrost but it didnāt work. Not helped by the fact that I feel so sore and uncomfortable. Apparently our region has not been gritted/salted so I donāt think I fancy going out on the roads as the snow weāve had today will be ice. Sorry ladies I feel really down at the moment, I have a beautiful house that just isnāt functioning well at the moment.
Hope you are all coping well with the snow and keeping warm. Carole XXXX
Hi Carole
Iām sorry to read you are feeling down, it sounds like youāve got a lot to cope with at the moment. It might help to talk things through with a trained member of staff on the BCC helpline. They are there to offer emotional support as well as practical information. The free phone number is 0808 800 600 and the lines are open Monday to Friday 9.00 to 5.00 and Saturday 9.00 to 2.00.
Best wishes Sam, BCC Facilitator
Hiya Carole, really feel for you must be awful. Hope you taking something for the rib pain and hope the heating is back on soon
Diet out of window but will be back tomorrow, just been bit crap, knees aching like made and pain in right shoulder but wii back on tomorrow so hopefully all goes before pre-op on 16th.
Hope everyone is okay and not snowed in. slenda, glad you going to docs, who cares what you have to take as long as it helps xxx
