Darling buddies from May - moving on

p.s. apologies for the poor grammer and spelling, must be too tired xxx

Hi, well this is a surprise, small font and its nothing I did. Will see if it is small when it goes on the post. Nicky well I sympathise with the dramatic weather change as I can be heard regularly moaning about how the weather can be so different from Rome and everyone tells me off for showing off about Rome - some days you can’t win! I have been on a scary road trip like that. It was every time we went with Victor on his work trips to Northern Cyprus. he would sit in the front and I would be hanging on to 3 little girls with no rear seat belts in a state of panic looking over cliff edges - all too near for my liking. I bet it was worth it when you arrived though. You must be so proud of the girls out there doing their thing, new frontiers and all that stuff. ED is temping and was the face of mercedes today. She might look like a dolly but she is very down to earth and said she was not sure if she could stand another day of just sitting doing almost nothing smiling at people. Every time they gave her something to do, she had finished it in 5 minutes and was bored again. I was thinking about this and I reckon I could be happy doing that but unlikely to offered it realistically ha ha. She is off to London to an agency so is hoping something may come of it. Son is still waiting to hear about a job he really wants but we are getting anxious as he may lose the other 2 he was offered by waiting too long and it does not look too good after this long. Fingers crossed still. Pup is in the dog house after deciding she would use the inside facilities rather than go out in the rain! She does not like getting wet feet, the little princess! Well hoping that your mumis improving a little Val and that your side effects are not too troublesome this time. P hugs for an early release from hospital prison and as Nick says for everything to go as well as poss first go, whichever option you and the doc decided on. I am sure it will be the right one for you. Lisa still waiting on the giggle story??? Are we enjoying the footy? I am a fan and try to watch as many as poss but missing Beckham still as he is my fav and my other Ronaldo is on the other team :frowning: Lily x

Hi Lisa, it seems bumping has diappeared so just been laughing thinking about all your fun and things going wrong. It sounded hilarious but also annoying when you paid for good service/rooms so hope you get some money back. Sorry if I worried you, I realised straight after, hence the second post. It is true it is different as the preventative surgery is only used for the BRCAs as not same for everyone else. They tell us at our 6 month checks that it is almost always the case that the patient goes back telling them about a new lump somewhere or about new persistent pain and not that the other way round. I have a surgical check on Monday :frowning: Lily x

Well, I can now use more than smilies as the emoticons have returned but, as you say Lily, the text has gone small! Also I just used a few emoticons on another post and when I went to use another one the whole text got lost, so I’ll stick with my commas and brackets for now and let the screen change them
Lisa, I can see how you found it funny, but I would have been so annoyed by the end of it if I hadn’t got any sleep and it was freezing cold. I hope you get your money back and more, for the inconvenience. As to the train, that would have really seen me off! Guess that shows how much older I am than you ha ha. Glad you could all laugh about it though, and I think when it happens to a big group you can do.
Lily, good luck to son with job hunt and also ED in finding something more challenging than being a ‘face’ It all sounds glamorous and easy but to anyone with half a brain it is mind numbing! I sympathise with your annoyance at little princess pup. I’ve had to keep the litter tray, since the winter, for our old moggy as I think she would have too many ‘lazy-cant-be-bothered-to-get-wet-outside’ accidents if we hadn’t.Obviously I am the only person in the house capable of emptying this so it’s only me that gets annoyed about it!
Well, the sun is shining for pretty much the first time in 2 weeks this morning so I will head out for my walk, which I’ve missed doing recently. Hope it’s shining where you are.
Nicky xx

Hi, yes sun here too but still need a jacket as coolish. Sports day tomorrow so mania all round and great excitement. We all dress up and there are prizes for best houses so it is a lively day and lots of people looking totally OTT trying to win. We are in the lead at the moment so all to lose if it goes wrong :frowning: The others are all booing us as we have already won the last 2 years and no other house has done this before. I am not looking forward to winning (if we do) as it will mean I am at a theme park for hours and hours trying to keep people sensible and safe instead of a normal quiet day. Not sure what your problem with the things was Nicky as I have only used brackets, etc so have not encountered it and not planning to try after what you said! Ed is being bombarded with interest and temp jobs, lucky her and is following some job leads up this week to see if they are what they seem. Son is still totally stuck still waiting and I hope I have talked him into starting the other job, if it is still available! Well better buzz off to bedfordshire Lilyx

Nicky, you may know this already, if so soorry. But to make the type larger press the Control button at bottom left and then press either the plus or minus sign which is above the - and = buttons at top right to make type smaller or bigger. I have to do this often as sometimes I accidently press something that makes type small. Hope this helps. That is if you are using a laptop as I am.
Lily, I hope you have a great sprts day and win the prize again. What will you be doing to dress up as or is it too secret!
Lisa as usual you made me chuckle. Sounded fun! Pity you didn’t find a lost man in the collapsed bed!
I am still in PJs. Naughty. But as retired can do as I please for once! Mum having good days and not so good days and is back on a drip again. Dad came back from visiting and went to sit in garden and fell. He lay there for an hour before he managed to get himself up. I asked him whay he didn’t shout for help as he is surrounded by neighbours and one even shares the same driveway. They even have my phone number that they could have called me. I was in town at Opticians so it was closewr to him than where I live and he has my mobie number too. But I suppose he was embarrased. He only skint his had so was lucky but he got a fright. I had actually phoned him after the Opticians ( this is how I found out) but he said he was ok and no need to call round. Friends were expecting us ( he didn’t know that then) as friends brother is over in Edinburgh having Radiotherapy for 4 weeks and wanted to see how he was doing.
Seeing new GP tomorrow. Mine has been off sick for many months. Was hoping to wait for him to return but now have appointment with unknown GP. Hard to wxplain in 6 minutes what is going on when GP doesn’t know you from Adam! But no major issues to discuss but need to have a word with her.
Hope you all have a great weekend. I will be away in the caravan again and don’t take a TV or laptop. Just take it easy and rest Unfortunately the weather forecast isn’t great this time. Thinking about Carole and hope she is doing well. love Val

Hi Ladies, Had to jump in here just to say a BIG Thank You to Lily200 for your wonderful post on your Trips in Rome. When reading it I felt I was back there. It is such a beautiful city with so much to do. I seem to remember posting somewhere on the site about Rome when someone was planning a break away. The only thing I would say is if you get the chance to go again Villa Borghese is well worth a visit (If only to see the fantastic David).
Thank you so much again for bringing back some great memories.

ps hope you are all well
Maj xx

Hi,thank you and welcome Majelsty. Glad to hear I stirred a few good memories, did you throw your coin in and will you be going back? I am still in wonder that at such an early stage of civilization and lack of tools, so much excellence was achieved. Take care x. Val I would have been very happy to stay in my pjs today but no such luck. Funnily enough I had to have an Italian theme for sports day, so i brought back a t shirt and hat and also had green, white and red flags painted on each cheek. Tonight I still have rosy cheeks from it. We did quite well but didn’t win this time, which was good for all the others that have watched us win a lot. Final results on the outright winners for the year are still to come. Are you planning a local trip in the van or a bit further afield?Sorry to hear about dad and I think it is thinking sbout them lying needing help that distresses most, what a shame. I empathise about the new doc too as I have lost every nurse and doc that I have seen since dx now. My original GP went abroad for 9 months in the middle of my chemo treatment and I felt let down that she did not let me know as clearly it took some planning ahead. I thought about which doc to chnage to and he was charming and said he would be delighted to look after me and has been far mor einformative and interested than she ever was and always talks about my latest letters and blood results from the hospital so it was a good change for me. I hope you are as fortunate with your change x. We’ve had a lovely evening with everyone round as we had a birthday. So vast volumes of chinese takeaway consumed  abd then bufday cake. Well pretty tired after the afternoon on the field so will finish here Lily x

Well, it’s all gone haywire again, the site I mean! What is going on with the Latest Posts layout?
Thanks for the tip Val, about the text size however I generally use an iPad these days with no such luxury as a Control key! I could change the font size but luckily, in the morning when I havent got my lenses in, I can read small text quite easily. However the re-jigged text box that we are now back to using has a wonderful way of correcting your typing to something you wrote a bit earlier? Have you noticed this? If not, best to re-read what you’ve typed ha ha.
Val, enjoy the break and I hope the sun does shine - I think you are getting more of it than we are for a change. So sorry to hear about Dad, poor man, holding his pride up high I expect which is why he didn’t want a fuss.
Go, Lily, go  Sorry you didn’t win this hear and what a disappointment for you not to go to the theme park day out. You must be gutted LOL It’s good your secondary school still does this sports day, so many seem to have stopped. Even the girls’ primary school, all those years back, didn’t think it should be ‘competitive’. No wonder our country has fewer top class athletes, of any sort except football, these days, and don’t get me started on childhood obesity! At least the sun shone for you.
With all this talk of Rome and the Trevi fountain, did you throw your coin just a little too hard, lily? There were reports that some chunks have fallen off the statues last week and they’ve now cordoned some of it off. You don’t know yourown strength. Lol
Hi to majesty, sorry if I’ve spelt your name wrong. Having just hit ‘reply’ to this thread I can only see Lily’s 1st ever post on here, not the last ones to refer back to. I love Rome, and have been several times over the years, however I didn’t get to throw my coin last year so maybe that’s telling me something :frowning:
Hi to Lisa, hope you’re not too busy at work, it’s the weekend nearly, what’s planned?
Carole, when you get to read this I hope you are well on the road to recovery and that all the procedures are done and dusted with good results to come. Take care.
Nicky xx

Hi ladies
I returned from hospital yesterday afternoon so haven’t managed yet to catch up on your news.
Briefly, I made the decision to have a mastectomy but they (the surgeon and the onc) decided it wasn’t necessary for such a small cancer. I will need 5 weeks of radiotherapy now and hormonal treatment as ER and PR positive.
I have an appointment to return to see the surgeon on 25 June when presumably I will find out results, ie how many nodes if any were affected.
I’m in bed today just resting, I ache so much all over like flu but I’m sure it is just the anaesthetic, also have a sore throat and cough - so all in all feeling pretty sorry for myself Boo Hooo.
Thanks for all your good wishes my dear friends
Love Carole xx

Hi all, will catch up properly later things a bit hectic just wanted to say welcome back to Carole xxxxxx

Hi Carole, glad you are back home so soon and it was decided by those in the know to go for a WLE. The recovery time will be so much quicker and the outcome is just as good when it’s followed up with rads. The sore throat is usually caused by the tube down your throat! So I hope that clears up soon and you feel a lot better. Nicer to be home rather than stuck in a hospital anyway. Take care and mend well
Hi to all
Weather has slightly improved, only slightly mind! This is good news for me as I have to endure the Moto GP tomorrow with OH. No, it’s not a Fathers Day present, he decided to get tickets earlier in the year and promptly forgot about it until they arrived in the post a few weeks back. What a treat for me, can’t wait LOL We went to practice day last year and it was as cold and wet as I expect it will be this year, and not an ounce of glamour that you get at F1. Just lots of bikers in leathers. Oh well, it will make him happy.
Have a good weekend and hope the sun is shining wherever you are
Nicky xx

Hi, well this is second go as the site just shut down in the middle of me typing, think it may have been our internet connection perhaps? P wanted to wish you well. I was pro -lumpectomy, mainly due to less hours under the knife when you have just recently had the pump and got other things going on. Did you come home with a drain in? I did and a bottle on the end of it, very inconvenient although little chap insiste on having his photo taken with it and thought it was a person! For the breast tissie itself, rads is singularly the most effective treatment so it sounds like a good plan to me. I had 15. 25 is quite a few so I think you would benefit from planning to try to avoid lymphoedema. I was taken aside and given a talk about all things I should stop doing now and have tried to keep that up, never using the hover mower was an easy one to give up ha ha. I try to be careful not to lift anything heavy but it is not always possible to avoid lifting, especially at work. I thought it was bloody unfair to get a cold and sore throat. I will start a petition, we should be exempt from these tiresome things! Be very good, rest a lot, try to do nothing and enjoy the tv. Are we watching big brother? I was in stitches watching the episode when they couldn’t laugh. Nicky I am hoping for good weather for you to improve your day. I hate motor bikes, especially the noise but I am sure there will be some intersting sights  Lovely to go with OH as he clearly will have the best day ever. Lisa what are you up to then? Val I am wondering whether you are already away. Hoping mum and dad are improving. I have been watching so much footy, never managed to sit and watch so much but son is watching every match. Victor hates it so he is getting up to date with work at least. He will have a lovely day tomorrow being the father of 4. he prefers to eat at home so I have planned a big feast. Well will post quick in case the blip comes again - Lily x x x

Hi All, Carole glad that the doctors gave you the advice on the best option for you and good luck with the rads, like Lily says do what you can to avoid lymphodema as it’s a sod when you have it, mind you can reduce it’s impact I managed, maybe its the no ironing and hoovering Lily lol!!! Take care and get some rest and hope you recover fast xxxx
Lily/Nicky, your right this site seems to have sorted the font size and the double spacing out, happy for small fixes lol!
Val, hope you are getting some rest too as well as helping everyone else.
Well, busy here so just a quick post before off - really busy for work, yesterday and today been making a wishing well and then tomorrow night a mad hatters hat and tuesday finishing off my jewellery bits for the workshop - all this is for our annual staff day where we work in the morning then in afternoon most people get to do nice things like treasure hunt, massage, felt making oh and this year jewellery making so Im running the course, as usual make it hard work for myself, I didnt want people to all make the same thing so all 18 people are getting totally different jewellery to make all packed up with step by step instructions. Arrrgghhh!!
Well went out for a drink with my best mate yesterday just for a few in the afternoon, then chilled and watched BB, yes Lily i was laughing lots at that episode, emailed the apartments from last week in disgust at an offer of 30% discount of our next booking, they were offering 40% last week on facebook - had a rant as not finding it funny now and want a full refund for my uncle…
Today Im driving over to newcastle with my friend and we are off to watch the X Factor auditions tomorrow am so we thought we would drive up tonight , have a nice meal and some wine then early rise for 8am start for the show opening at 10am… so I will be absent later.

Hope you have all had a nice weekend from a hair pulling Lisa xxxx

Hi - Lisa good luck with the jewellery session, I wish I worked with you! You have gone to a lot of effort and it will be extra special for people to go home with an individual piece. I would love to see the x factor auditions or is there a lot of hanging around waiting? Have a great time. Val, Nicky and Peacock hope you all had a nice weekend and managed to catch some sun. At this time of year the workload eases considerably for teachers so I am making the most of being able to have a weekend without bringing loads of work home. For me it is a real treat to be able to just get up when I want and so I had a lie in and read my book for ages. Victor and I watched a Columbo film throughout the day, whenever we were having coffee or lunch. We have seen them all many times but still enjoy trying to remember the plot and how he catches them out. Everyone came in for Fathers Day and he had Grandad prsiies and cards too so he had a lot of gifts and cards. By the way he is having to drive to York for meetings at present so I was hoping that one might come up during the summer hols so I can come along. Will keep you all posted but keep your fingers crossed and maybe this will be the year we meet up aye! Well I am suffering with the usual insomnia as I have a check up with my surgical team tomorrow. No specific reason to worry but the thoughts come and I should be used to them by now. Speak tomorrow Lily x

I was called by them nursing home at 9am this mornng to say that Mum has taken a turn for the worse. She is looking peaceful calm and is sleeping. Dad is with her now and I will go in this afternoon with my younger daughter to sit with her while Dad goes home for a rest and something to eat. I was in a state this morning after they phoned me so my husband had to drive me there and then collect Dad to take him in. Just what I needed him to do. Now have his wee dog here who is lying attached to her lead and watching all the birds and eyeing up our cats!

Not much of a catch up I’m afraid ladies, still very tired and can’t seem to do much, energy levels very low. Mr P is decorating and it upsets me that I can’t be doing things, even the clearing up is too much.

Val I am sorry to hear about your Mum and all I can say is that my thoughts are with you and lots of hugs xxxx

Lily, hope that your family all shared a lovely Father’s Day with Victor and hope a visit to York for you is imminent, York is a lovely city. Hope all is well with your hospital visit.

Lisa hope you had a great weekend and made lots of money with your jewellery sales, and if not at least had a fab weekend.
Nicky how did the Moto Gp go? Hope the weather wasn’t too bad and you managed some fun from it all.

I had a nasty tumble on Saturday indoors, clumsy me - so have another sore rib (hopefully just bruised not broken) as well as a very stiff arm on what was my bad side, but now I don’t know which side to call my good side LOL. Anyway the side of the old mx, hopefully the aching arm will not set off lymphodema?
Night night from a very feeling sorry for herself Carole xxx

PS forgot to ask - sorry for the really gross question BUT, for the last 2 days I’ve had GREEN no. 2’s!!! Bit weird, i’m thinking it might be because of the radioactivity last week??? Has anyone experienced this or should I call in the anti-nuclear squad? I’ve had nuclear scans before and it has never done this so am a bit anxious.

Hi, Val hoping your mum has rallied a little today, what a worry for all of you. Also hope little dog did not manage to get any of the cats while with you. Keep us posted how she is. Did they get a doctor to see her? Good luck x. P - I am really sorry to hear about your fall too, how did it happen? Just what you didn’t need so soon after the op too. Please take care. Why would you even think about cleaning anything so soon after surgery??? If Mr P is there then you really must try to take advantage of this time to rest before he leaves again. Lily’s orders!!! Newly after surgery you need to try use that arm much at all as lymph is your main worry with a lot of rads to come. Be sensible as you can’t take it back if you do one thing too many in these early days. Enough nagging from me. Yes I remember odd colours because the SNB dye they use is dark blue and it would mix with the normal colours. I had blue blood going through my drain, very jubilee  I wouldn’t worry about it. Well my appointment went well although it was only a grope and no other tests. You would have all chuckled because I was bundled into a room ahead of the doc and told to strip. The BCn nurse pulled the curtains round me so I did not realise until I din’t get an answer that she had left me alone. Next thing, there is a knock on the door!!! Argggh what do I do? Well I swore under my breath and stayed very quiet and phew they went away. Followed 3 minutes later by another knock and a coooey call. A worrying moment later a female head poped through the curtain to introduce herself. So I sat in bed with 2 people eying my ‘below the chins’ and discussing what a good job the surgeon had done and how nice they looked!! Weird and I had a terrible urge to laugh. She offered me another small op for lipofill if I want it any time. it is to fill up the slight dip where my port came out but I really don’t care. If you have lipofill, there is a danger that the fat put in can change and form lumps. If they do, then anyone presenting with a lump, having had BC has to undergo investigations including biopsies, youch I can remember the needle for that one. So they say you have to take into account the extra stress this may give you if it happens. That was enough to put me off. So back to the surgical team in 11 months (an odd date?) and I see oncology in Nov. She also confirmed that my dx means I should expect to stop femara after the total 5 years. I asked about people having 7 but she thinks my dx does not warrant it. I was feeling sad but very fortunate tonight as a friend who was at the clinic before me has just heard they found something on her scan and waits to hear more. That was the 3rd one I have heard about, including our lovely P so I have been a bit restless this visit. Much better news on getting everyone to work though, with ED having a lot of interest and working freelance this week with the possibility of a permanent position. Son lost the job he wanted because he was too advanced (in what I would like to know - sleeping?) but they took 4 weeks to tell him :frowning: When he phoned the agency they had put him in for another job that needs high security clearance so that si looking promising. Unless there is something he forgot to tell me hmmmmm. I don’t think so. take care Lily x x

Hi ladies
Sorry to hear about Mum, Val, a worrying time for you I expect but I hope things change for the better soon.
P - so sorry to hear you are feeling low, its not surprising after another op and I think the GA can cause this, if I can remember correctly. Enjoy Mr P being there and get involved by supervsing from the sofa, I expect he’d love that LOL. As to the funny colours I cant help as I’ve not had that nuclear dye. Hopefully all has passed now, if you get what I mean
Lisa, hope the jewellery sale went well and all the kits were sold, if that’s what was happening. And that you’re not too worn out after all that effort. Take it easy my girl.
Well, Moto GP was much better than last time. Weather was good, overcast but warm enough and a bit of sun. The race was interesting and worth watching. Last time we had gone to practice which I now realise is just one or two bikes roaring round trying to be the fastest to qualify is not the same as the actual race! Not too bad getting out of the car parks either and safely home late afternoon. To watch the football of course! OH had a great day, the only things missing were the girls :frowning: But they did send presents and the personalised cards that you can get. We’ll be seeing them in a week or so, so that’s not too bad. BTW Lily, talking of cards, you mentioned a few days back about a birthday. Was this Victor’s? If so a belated happy birthday to him.
Well, bye for now
Sp soon
Nicky xx

Hi All
Val, thinking of you and your mum and big hugs that things improve a bit xxxx
Peacock, poor you, take it easy please. Also I had some green issues after anesthetic so could be that too xxx
Nicky - oh sounds like you had a nice time xx
Lily, glad appointment went okay and i would say no to surgery too unless necessary lol!!!
well jewellery almost finish, sadly apart from paying for the supplies I am not making any money on it as we are a charity at work so its free and I have 18 people to show how to make things, but ENGLAND won, yippeeeee xx

Better go got a hat to make and packing for jewellery to do. P.s. X Factor was good, bit of standing around at start but once in good fun and the comedian is fab!!!
