Hi, I have frantically searching all news channels to see if there has been any unusual events in France this weekend but no news so far. It seems our Peacock was ambushed mid sentence, made a break for it and escaped the clutches of the bad guys. She tried to send one last message to England but the bad guys overcame her again and she ended mid- sentence leaving English and Scottish agents wondering ‘what the hell happened to Peacock’? I am still trying to decode her important message. Anyone worked out what ‘wellim having probs with my ca mera wfi’ means yet. Personally I think it could mean ‘well I’m having trouble with my french cami knickers, please send safe English ones from M & S.’
Lots of fun here as we are within hearing distance of V festival so the likes of Beyonce, Olly Murs, Jessie J, etc , etc thumping through the night to us. We just pick up whichever stage has the loudest bass beat. Little chap is staying while MD is dancing her feet off at V. YD is now on her honeymoon and apparently baby behaved himself on the plane which was a relief as you can never tell if they will suffer with their ears or just go plain bonkers with the excitement of restrained adults either side to hit with your book and squirt juice at  Lisa you should find an email or to from BCC about the forum being shut while they change it to another one. How many have we all been through before? You can read but not post for a while. Well better check he has nodded off waiting for me to return, usually works when it gets late. Take care love Lily x

Hi all, Lily I think Peacock is fine. She has posted photographs on FB and they show that she has lots of visitors and all sitting under large parasols and the pool being filled with water. I think it was just a glitch!
I have a French couple staying with us until they fly home on Thuesday ( thought it was Monday!) but all going well and they are off with a map and their hired car this afternoon to visit some villages we have recommended.
Not much to report here. Had a bit of a quandry about having a bone biopsy done but after discussion with the doctors have decided NOT to go ahead as not in any pain so leaving well alone for the moment. I am still ahving to help out with my Dad’s shopping and bill paying etc but am worried that he will not go over the door and is becoming a bit of a recluse.
Husband has lost a large bunch of keys that were last seen on the dining table. WE have searched everywhere including the bin and every nook and cranny in the house, even place you just know they won’t be like the airing cupboard! He is always misplacing things. I fell out with him on Friday which is unusual…because he decided to clear out a cupboard because" all the things were out of date". But they were not because I had filled the tins with fresh ingredients from a packet! I was in middle of making a cake or two for the visitors…first no baking powder!..then no vanilla essance…and so it went on. But the bit that made me the most mad was that he didn’t know exactly WHAT he had thrown out and oculdn’t see what all the fuss was about! I was crying with anger…men! Now that is a side of me and my OH that you haven’t seen before . Have now replaced all the thrown out tins I know about…until I go to make something else and find I do not have all the ingredients! Keep well girls, Love Val
Oh the cakes were carrot cake with a soft cheese/lemon/icing topping and a wholemeal sponge cake with raspberry jam and fresh cream…and they loved them!

Hi ladies
A quick post before we go off line for a while next week - let’s hope its only for a while! Whereas we are keeping in touch there’s lots of ladfies out there needing advice.
Nothing much going on here, back on another cycle of chemo but hopefully not going to get too many, or any side effects. Other than that from what you’ve asked: the heart problem came about after FEC - the E part is well known to cause problems but obviously I didnt know I’d get them until after the event! The next procedure could be carido ablation where they ‘burn’ some of the nerve endings as atrial fibrillation is all about the electrical signals ‘short circuiting’ therefore they try to get the circuit working properly again, if not it may then be on to a pace maker!
Val - hope your jaw doesnt cause any problems and you dont need anything further doing, plus any pain you had has gone. How frustrating (being polite here  ) that OH threw out the good stuff! What got into him? Maybe the keys went with them? Hope not. How are you getting on with your visitors - hope they are not tiring you out. The cakes sound fab. YD make a rhubarb and custatd cake last week, with rhubarb from the garden and it was delicious. Could easily be used as a pud as well served with more custard or cream, mmmmmm. Will have to wait until she’s back from her hols in France to get her baking again.
Hi Lisa and Lily - hope all is well with you both. Lisa - hope the head is sorting itslef out and you are no longer worrying - which can give you a headache as well! And Lily, that youre not too lost without a wedding to plan and enjoy. A photo would be lovely, if you havent got my email PM me when this is back up, or text me, and I’ll send it.
That’s all folks, see you on the new forum, fingers crossed it all goes well.
Nicky x

Nicky I would love a copy of the rhubarb and custard cake. Is it from a cookery book? I had 3 rhubarb plants and one was quite mature. Lost the lot in the bad weather. Now have to buy it in supermarket but I loved pulling up a stalk or two to braise gently. Yummy. I am going to ask my friend for some as she told me she has an allotment ( which I didn’t knpw about) and has some there she can give me. I LOVE the stuff yet do not quite know why! Childhood memories.
Hope we are not off line from BCC for too long. I cannpot believe what the site has undergone since the first improvement. Hopefully it will work better now. Fingers crossed.
Visitors fine. We have prepared but not yet cooked the eveing meal. The do not like spicy food so that was the Chicken Tikka Masala or the mexican chicken encilladas not being made! So the chicken thighs are all in the freezer now and we are having a free range roast chicken instead, with roast potatos and veg and something to follow. Not sure if fresh fruit salad or icecream with stawberries and raspberries. I did plan to make a chocolate roulade but have been a walk in the intermitent sunshine instead. . Hope to see you all back on here when the site reopens. Hugs to you all, Val

Hi all, soz been on pamper darelaxing which was lovely. Headache worse and noises worse so docs this week, have a little lump at base of head, I’ve had for a year or so but every time I ask if they can feel it no one can, but yesterday Brit sore and feels bigger, I’m hoping its a gland swollen with all headaches etc. but you know me, anyhow, Carole looks to be having an amazing time with her new pool and caravans arriving, I’m very jel eous as its been really wet here.
lily you crack me up, inspector lil should be your new name, I’m sure her camera sort of device that she uses is causing her problems lol.
nicky, good luck with chemo and val,mi love your quotes on Facebook lol!
well, better go, tomorrow is the boss surprise 60th this is your life, god hell hate it but love it too, I have a host, moot lots of voice overs, guests and videos amusing lol!
see you all when wee back on line x hoI pit improves the old iPad posts lol xx

Hi, fab to have so many posts to read, even though our ambushed french feathered friend has not resurfaced yet. Lets hope it is just due to her practising breast stroke up and down her pool rather than :-
. internet problems
. inability to get the better of her new camera gadget thing and type on it
. french knickers in a twist
. swept away in a tidal wave of wee after Heidi had a particularly large accident
. mad sex with a James Bond type agent to try to escape (ok she can do that one if she gets the chance and wants to!)
. lost going round the terrible roundabout
. joined the foreign legion.
Come in Peacock, we miss you and if its Monday when you read this so you can’t post, then send morse code but wait until V finishes as I wouldn’t pick up the beeps with all the bass coming this way
Val well what do they say ‘let sleeping dogs lie’ and ‘don’t try to fix what aint broke’ so yes I can see a lot of logic behind your decision not to proceed at the moment. I assume the outcome would not really change what they are doing and it would be another horrible procedure and wound so best avoided as long as poss, my best wishes that things improve for you. You need a plan to get dad out, either to somewhere nearby or maybe to yours where he feels safest. You might have to be a bit cunning and make him feel terribly needed for something. My mum feels sorry for herself but rallies immediately when someone is in trouble to try to help - not easy on crutches and now with a broken arm! I always retrace my steps when I lose things and don’t believe him if he says he has checked his pocket, coat, the car,not left them in a shop, etc. His reliability having been decimated by the food tin scandal. I would have sent him straight to the shop to replenish everything - the little rascal. Who let him in the cupboard, I bet it won’t happen again though. I did laugh at how cross you were  Mmmmm send cake asap  . Lisa glad you enjoyed my tale and the second edition tonight. Gosh you do some crazy stuff at work, hope it goes well and includes embarassing stuff. Good luck with the head investigation and yes there are glands under the chin area nd around the back. Smiler has a gland that sticks right out at the base of his head with certain infections. keep us posted and tell the doc your worries so they can reassure you or check it out to reassure you. Good luck and get to bed a bit earlier x. Nicky Noo I don’t like the sound of any procedures but have watched the ablation thing for AF on tv and read about people having life changing improvement after having it done. Guess you have to be brave and take the advice of the docs as to your suitability but how brilliant if they could get you steady paced again. Good luck buddy, you certainly deserve some. Was your initial heart trace ok before you started FEC, I remember having to have mine checked but not sure if that check is not always reliable enough. I can’t think where your email address is but if you want to see the Audrey look, you may. Cake sounded yum. I love rhubarb and custard sweets. Victor may be travelling your way in the next fortnight and if so would you like another drop in from me? No problem if you are not up to it or busy with the girls home. Promise it wasn’t just for cake  Better buzz off. Son has an inteview for a job and he was so pleased until he read he has to give a presentation to a board of people so a little angst now and needs to get on with it. Victor is fed up of me saying, I am so glad I don’t have to go to work tomorrow/this week. He he. I do go in this week to give my old class their GCSE results so will be hoping they all did well and don’t cry on me. Next stop year 7 and start all over. Speak soon love Lily xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Thanks lily that cracked me up.
see you all when its back on line xx

Hi, oh this is sooooooooooooooooooooooooo annoying. How can I reply to everyone’s posts when I can’t see them now. This is the same problem we have had in the past and had to be changed!!! Moderators can you help please, how do I post replies and still see all the posts from others?  It also says I am replying to myself in 2009 and I don’t really want to see that, I want to see the posts below mine or are you supposed to remember everything they said or make notes. This is not good at all.

Trying to remember what you posted, as expected when I turned back to look, it lost my post (good job I remember this bexcat same fault from the last new forum and saved it). carole I am really sorry to hear you have so many problems piling up at the moment. The leg sounds horrible and I hope it has either eased or you have gone to see the doc about it. I hope things turn around a bit over the weekend so you can be more comfortable. val, I had to reset my password but just used the same one again and it didn’t mind - perhaps you could do that Carole. Somewhere you can find a lost your password to click and it comes back by email quickly. Today I went to the seaside with ED. She always saves a day of her holiday entitlement during my summer break and we spend a day together. We both decided we just wanted to sit in the sun and listen to the waves and maybe get a tan, if we were lucky. It was so warm but a few light clouds from time to time to cool us down. We were early so we managed to park right next to the beach. We took deckchairs and made a camp and watched the tide roar in and then dashed for higher ground as it comes right in and splashes over the path, where we were. Then we loaded the car up and went to our favourite restaurant for cod and chips sitiing outside on the promenade. Then walked to our favourite ice cream cafe and watched the waves again before coming home a bit later. Such a lovely peaceful day and i always find being near the sea recharges my batteries better than anywhere else. Must have been a sailor in another life  Nick what are you up to this weekend? Lisa how did you get on at the doc or haven’t you been back yet? Oh dear hugs to everyone not well. Love Lily x

Hi, well I have discovered that if you hit reply button next to a post, you can see that one individual post but no others. If you hit reply to this post at the top, you get none, just my very first post. That makes me sad because it keeps going on to posts with friends chatting who are no longer with us and gives me a bit of a shock until I realise whats happened. Why wouldn’t research show clearly that posts are not replying to just one person but more often if there is a good thread running, reply to several people at the same time. Something they will need to sort out. I did see latest somewhere but only come across it by chance.

Nicky lovely and sad to see ED moving out. Three cheers she is not far away though. This is how all this Nanna business starts, moving in, then more serious  Stick with the site. I just clicked ‘add as favourite’ and come in the site that way now and it remembers who I am most times too. Not seeing the posts is making me mad as I worry I have ignored something important to one of you and feel i should make notes!!! How ridiculous is that? Carole keep popping those tablets if they mean you can cope and get around, even if just a little better. I remember the doc saying anti-flamms take quite a few weeks to get to the problem and that its no good to take them for a few days, so keep going.  I hope you managed a chuckle at my fantasy about what you had been up to when you disappeared mid sentence. Lisa how are you? How is the ear problem? Are you still with slim W? I daren’t go back until i have lost the weight from scoffing too much on holiday and then the wedding! I am down 2lbs so far and not trying  hard enough, as usual! YD is back from her honeymoon and had a lovle ytime. I would see relaxing break but baby went too so she was busy as usual but in a nice setting. She tells me she has a big bump now so I am looking forward to seeing her. valhave your visitors left yet? Its always nice to slide back to the normal routine when they go. Apart from our children and those, we never want to go home. Enjoy the bank holiday weekend Lily xxxxxxxx

Hi all, think I’m logged in right. Shattered so off to bed early not like me! Will catch up tomorrow just wanted to send bug hugs for your surgery tomorrow Carole xxx

Sorry I’ve not been on here ladies but this really is driving me nuts - the new forum that is.  No Latest Posts and very few posts actually being showed under any topic heading.  Plus the fact that the ipad doesnt work so well with the layout and/or font size I have very nearly given up as can hardly read any of the posts (on a mini ipad) and that’s without any lenses in which normally cause the words to blur, grrrrrrrrrr.

Have causght up with the news, sorry to hear about the new Op Carole, but sounds like something good has at least happened at long last.  Lisa, hope your aches and pains get sorted and there’s no underlying problems that can’t be sorted. Val, hope Dad is now sorted and won’t blow up the neighbours!  Lily, hope you enjoy your last few days off and have a sit down after looking after all your boys

No news from me but will try to keep in touch.

Nicky x

Hi all, bit of a mess today, been back to docs and referred me for urgent ct scan as lump on neck not gone done and noises in ear are really bad, not looking good :frowning:

Thanks val, off to do an order xx

Hi ladies

Apologies if I don’t answer personally, this is my first quick look since my last post and quite a lot has happened.   First, your news :

Nicky, sending you lots of hugs and good wishes that all went well with your procedure.

Lisa, how are your ears and headaches now?  Hope all is well with you, any update on your operation?  Sorry to hear about  your Aunt, and hope she is recovering now.

Val, I read your post and smiled, it was so cheery and just want to say what a super lady you are and so resilient.

Lily, hope all is well with your family and especially baby to be, have you planned where your next holiday will be now that you’ve convinced Victor?

I wanted to read back on all your posts but I can only read the post from 2009, so apologies again.

We had a lovely time in Spain, the weather was gorgeous and we enjoyed lots of walks, fresh air, good food and wine.   It was interrupted a bit at the weekend because YD had a trauma, one of the flats in her block of flats caught fire and it brought back to her so many bad memories of our fire in 2010, so Mr P drove from Spain to Toulouse to pick her up and then took her back again.   The good news is that she is enjoying Uni, making new friends and thinks that learning Chinese is fun.

My news is that I had a hospital appt today, I saw my surgeon following the procedure in August.  He’s basically told me that “Norman” is not going to heal and close by itself, and if they close it up it will just fill up internally again causing pain, discomfort and swelling.   He doesn’t know what to do, but has suggested a mastectomy or at least a partial mastectomy using tissue from my back.   I’m not happy about this and he actually admitted that he was wrong by not doing a mastectomy last June when I had the tumour, but I suppose no one knew I would have so many problems.   He’s never come across this problem  before so is going to discuss with the surgical team to find a solution, but the end result is that one way or another my breast is not going to repair.   The skin is damaged from my armpit down my chest and I’ve had to take steroids and anti histamines for 2 weeks to try and stop the awful skin reaction.   It is less itchy now but now I’ve stopped the steroids it might all start up again.

ED’s operation was cancelled : she went in and waited 4 hours to be told they didn’t have an ICU bed for her and another person, so it didn’t happen, she was disappointed and frustrated.

Weather good here, but set to change for the weekend.  Have a lovely weekend ladies XXX

Oh god sorry girls, I didn’t re read my post as was so tired! Damn auto correct, if you aren’t looking at screen when typing and press space it changes it automatically to what it thinks it should be… Xmas shaping !!! Well at least it gives you a wee challenge working out what I mean!!! See took time with this post ?

Nicky good news about your successful op, what a long one too, was it under a GA or were you awake?   Not sure what an ablation for the heart is so if you have time would be interested to know.   Even better news about the chemo shrinking the liver tumour,  thanks for your kind words about me and ED’s op.   Did you manage to fit in some exercise this weekend?

Lisa so pleased to hear that your Aunt has improved.   You’ll be keeping busy then in the next few weeks what with so much going on, your new photos on FB of some of your jewellery are amazing.   Thanks to you too for your kind words.

Lily thanks for your words too, you always have such a sensible way of pointing out the options, don’t worry I will probably have a lot to say about any future op I might have.   It’s all up in the air at the moment, no need for decisions just yet as the surgeon (who is a plastic surgeon – he did my other reconstruction) needs to think about the best solution.   I have made a note of questions to ask, using some of the suggestions you made.   Like you my concerns are that I won’t heal after a mx, although I did with the first one things seem to be so different now and I hadn’t thought of problems with sleeping, if I have to have a back op and a mx.   You’ve started Christmas shopping already??   Ever the organised, I wish I could be so organised.   How are your feet?  Hopefully nice and soft like babies lol.

Val if you’re reading, here’s wishing you a lovely break in France.

I’m a bit fed up with having the nurse come in twice a day.   In the mornings it isn’t too bad but they invariably arrive during dinner which has to get put in the microwave - oh well, these things are sent to try us.   I’m wondering if all this blood stained fluid that keeps draining is going to cause anaemia, what do you think?

Hunting is a big thing in our part of France, unfortunately as you hear the guns going off at weekends and I always hate to think of the animals they’ve shot.  Yesterday on a walk with our dog we came across one of the hunting dogs, who wasn’t particularly friendly and bared his teeth at us and our innocent dog who just wanted to play.   We made a quick retreat!

Hope all is well for you all xxx

PS I don’t watch XFactor

Aw Lily that fibre optic broadband doesn’t sound too great, especially if poor Victor needs the internet for work I know how that feels from when I used to work from home, hope you get it sorted soon.

Hope everyone is ok xxx
