Darling buddies from May - moving on

Hi,
oh Lorraine I’m just chuckling now at the thought of you getting caught in your undies if someone comes in.lol lol. The things you get up to!! Yes I know that Mother of a footballer situation and often thought thank goodness they weren’t all boys. My friend has 4 boys and 3 play football so she tears from match to match every weekend during the season. Still the girls kept me just a busy but they were considerate enough to choose indoor sports like gymnastics and ballet. I get very involved when he is playing and have been known to ask the ref if he needs glasses - woops! The support thing sounds really helpful and I am sure they would love your support. We have a support group and place to go for treatments, etc.
Lisa is it jet lag, hot flushes, insomnia or all the above keeping you awake? I have been coming in from work and crashing out every night this week. Will need to move up a gear as I have had loads of other people’s classes added to my timetable. Another 120 names and faces to force into my pea brain. BTW I have emailed you back. Take it easy this weekend and perhaps you willcatch up on all that sleep.
Nicky I am glad work is going so well, always helps to pass the time more amicably with nice people. My son’t As exams are finished as of yesterday so now we sit and wait. He only had 6 exams (as lots of coursework) so was really unlucky to have 2 days with clashes. It was a really bad timetable for him and he had 3 hours solid writing on the last day with back to back exams. He will have been affected by that. The same week he had to be locked in for 3 hours between exams due to another clash. I just hope he meets the minimum requirements to stay for A2s as he finds exams very hard. Keep us posted how your 2 get on.How was the ball? Mine will be lying in too, I have no idea why his study leave is after his exams? I am starting to wish I had left it too late to enter the race! Must get back to the gym. Are you on any jaunts this week? We plan to go to the coast one day and having been paid I may go mad round the shops this week too. At work today my extra responsibility was finally made permanent so I can call myself a head of department. It came up to be decided just as I went off last year for my op, great timing eh. I was doing everything anyway but it was nice to feel they want to include me in future plans. I then got the stinkiest job ever and will have to do it over half-term!! Hoping for a bbq this weekend and hubby washed my car so it is twinkling, bet it rains now!!!
Lily x

Hey Lorraine know what you mean about the hot flushes, had about 4 today at work, yet only about 3 whole weekn in Florida.

Lily, its almost like back to normal aint it with work and stuff, say you aint going to take it all back on then it just happens. me and my two mates have a meeting with my boss on Friday which he said was originally about me keeping on our trainee but I think (althought doesnt let up) he knows we are all stressed, all 3 women in my team are on blood pressure pills and I think im going to have to relent and go on them too.

emmm what was I goign this time last year, well i ws one day into my first chemo and feeling lousy, i can remember that one sooo well, day after got major aches and couldnt sleep all night!!

Here’s to everyone haveing a lovely weekend, im hping to catch up on some stuff but going to the pub for next two days aint going to help. Here’s to some sunny weather to make the days brighter xxx

hi everyone

aghhhhhhhhhhhhhh i thought id got my party outfit, a yellow silk dress from dorothy p’s but i think theyd got those slim you down mirrors in the changing rooms, cos i didnt look bad in them but when i came home and looked, i looked horrid. this weight is getting me really down, im trying to cut down, and stepping up the walking, but why do things have to be so hard. aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh,im a little fed up to say the least!
got a lot of housework to do, but its a choice between that and my walking, i think its going to after be the walking even though ive been out and about all day.

have a great weekend, x

Hi,
Lorraine sorry to hear about the dress and I absolutely understand what you mean. The outfit I tried for the wedding argggh. I may just enquire what sizes and shades of tents they have in the camping shop this year lol. Just a thought have you tried the supermarkets as Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury have a big range now. I was surprised how many things I liked when I went round one recently and they do a good range of sizes. DP are always cut small. Worse things happen at sea! Just stick with the wonderful reason why you are having the celebration, the outfit is not the most important thing, you are x.
Lisa well I still haven’t had a typical hot flush but I can tell it is getting warmer. The prickly heat I get is really uncomfortable at times, just like 100 needles all hitting me at the same time. I madly try to get my woolies off or it keeps getting worse. My Mum suggested I should try sun cream!!! Sounds like you all need to tell the boss how it is or you will all be having heart attacks! Anyway enjoy the weekend.
Had such a busy day. This morning THE wedding dress had arrived back at the shop for ED to try on again. So we trotted down there and she loved it and wow did I give birth to this stunning bride lol. The bridesmaid who came with us burst into tears. I haven’t cried just sooooo happy to be here doing this. So she has gone for the most expensive one and guess who paid the deposit - correct! It is a quite exquisite dress with so much detail and could have been made for her. It is not on the rails so the one for her will not arrive until September, then I have to hide it at my house. I will post a picture of her very briefly after the event. So ages to wait. Then went straight from there to meet YD who had a hospital appointment about jaw/face pain. Unbelievably they had a Saturday clinic, running on time and the x ray dept open with no wait either, and then straight back in to the Doc. This is at our smaller local hospital which they plan to close soon. She has been ordered/advised to stop biting her nails and not to eat steak, chewing gum or anything else chewy. Strange. It is a common problem apparently and you generally have it all your life so have to manage the problem. Bit depressing to hear that. Then straight to pick little chap up who likes to go shopping with Nanna as I am powerless against his charm and buy almost everything he asks for!Spot the dog dvd, sun cream, a scooby doo magazine and a freshly baked loaf of bread today. Strange little chap! WE also picked my Mum up and then stayed on for a chocolate eclair and cup of tea. Littlun gave the 2 old dogs a good workout so they were pleased to see us leave. Then back home as littlun, MD and brother in law were coming to eat with us. Sat down afterwards and ED and ‘SIL to be’ turned up and we all had drinks and more cake and watched Britain’s got talent and the new hulk movie. No school work done at all, just had a really nice day out and about with everyone. Might lie in tomorrow!
Have a great weekend

Hi Ladies
Sorry you are so fed up Lorraine, I get so annoyed with those mirrors as well - they should be like the one in Snow White! I’m sure you will get something nice and if it’s not all yellow at least you can use it again - would you have worn the DP dress again? Keep walking - I love it being out in the fresh air but steer away from the eclairs that live in Lilyland - they’re dangerous for the figure
Glad you’ve had such a super day Lily - all sounds so nice and I know what you mean about being here to see it all. We had a lovely day yesterday just relaxing, gardening, having the 1st BBQ of the year and generally recovering from the Ball on Friday night!
That was absolutely lovely and all YD’s friends looked gorgeous and very sophisticated as they’d mainly gone for cocktail dresses rather than full gowns. The whole evening was great, the food, drink and entertainment plus dancing into the early hours. All of the Leavers have said how much they enjoyed it and how they will remember it as their last official day at the school. I may also post a quich photo on here next week to show a group of them and how lovely they looked - keep your eyes peeled because I will only do it for a short while.
Have a great remainder of the weekend and, for some of us, a week off as well!
Nicky xx
ps Lily - you can use SIL2B if you need to!

Lorraine, the weight thing is a total pain I know, mind I give DP’s a wide birth these days!!!

Lily dress sounds lovely. he talking of scooby doo you can now hire a limo styled scooby doo van for kds parties, looks fab!!!

Nicky - ballsounds like fun and firswt BBQ eh!!

WEll off out for 2nd nite in row!!! Will be exhaused by tomorrow but am trying a new no twining mood, lets see how long I last!!!

hi everyone, just got back from sons football tournament (the one that stopped us having a weekend away), they are a new team and my hubby sat being critical all the way through, he was more annoying than sitting through the match. he was saying that my sons team are not that good and that its only worth doing things if you do them well. (i nearly said well your doing gym about 5 times a week, but it dont look like your doing that well), but something stopped me. MEN,CAN BE SO MISERABLE!
the dress is in the bag to go back to dp, but i feel i will have to wear yellow, because i requested that everyone else did. i have a t…shirt if all else fails.
lily ive seen some beautiful costumes for you while ive been browsing in pink and grey, always easier to find an outfit for someone else., and i am aware that the outfit isnt that important, but i want to feel comfortable and look my best.
and the pain you talk about your daughter having, i have suffered with for years on and off, and it kills. i used to have a shield to wear to bed, but i couldnt do it. when it comes it normally lasts a few days, i hope she sorts it out, cos i never really pushed it with docs. i think its neuralgia she is getting.

been first bbq of the year too. hopefully many more to come, with this wonderful weather. oh so much better than last year when we had to stay out of the sun.,wed better not go topless bathing though, can you imagine?

xx

Hi,
not sure which of you made me laugh most today lol. Lisa I give everywhere a wide berth these days lol. He would love to see the scooby car I’m sure. I am trying to go out more as well. Not quite the same thing as you though as only made it for a walk today. Have fun and hope you don’t feel yuk tomorrow. Nicky I want one of the Snow White mirrors please send asap. What makes you think it is just eclairs, it was lemon and berry pavlova today and yummy yum. The ball sounded lovely. I have one next month for the Year 11s and another for the 13s.The other lady who helped while I was off and I have threatened to dance through the middle of our tutor group and generally embarass them. Oh I do want to see the pic so it better be a late at night quick one. Oh that sounded rather cheeky!!
Thanks for the shorthand I will def use that 1.
Lorraine well I’m surprised you didn’t land one on Victor. Hope your little chap did not hear it as they try so hard even if they aren’t too good. Lol lol at your comment about the gym. Sometimes you just have to let comments pass or it gets mor heated. By the way where are all these lovely outfits that I can’t find in pink and grey? Please tell. You might still find a yellow dress or outfit you like, keep looking. The oral Doc syas it is muscle pain and she gets it herself. It hurt to touch the side of her face below the ears. The remedy is to massage the muscles as many times as possible each day and to apply heat, when it hurts. Then you avoid chewy foods, smoking, biting nails and anything else that makes you keep moving your jaw. Doc said it is very common and you have it for life - what a cheery thing to tell someone. You have to manage your condidtion she says. Thank you for the topless warning lol! It is a few years since I did that.
Had a nice walk in the village where hubby and I grew up today as it is full of National Trust woodlands. Took a backpack with lunch and climbed to the top to admire the view before the much easier climb back down. What a lovely sunny afternoon it was, so we all sat out on the deck. Enjoyed BGT tonight and love the dance groups this year.
Take care all

hi there everyone

lily 2000
i will try and find the outfit i found which was pink and grey, dont know if it would be your cup of tea, but you never know. i see you still havnt given up on the cakes, does that mean your doing extra workouts at the gym. i cant give up niceties either. cut down a little, but you cant tell, and still stepping up the walking. just come back from 3 mile walk but just had 3 low fat digestives, so thats evened things out on the calorie front probably

had grandchildren today , and we went on a barefoot walk, at trentham gardens we were extremely muddy, but very theraputic.
hope youve all had some fun too. thats what life is all about!

take care all x

Hi,
thanks Lorraine. The barefoot walk sounds lovely, my little chap would love that too. Do tell if you find the outfit again. I hope to find a dress and jacket so that it will suit the formal photos, wedding and right through the evening. I have to confess I have not been back to the gym but I am planning to go this week. I just ache so much if I go. The tamoxifen seems to seize up my feet and ankle joints.
I had a nice family day today, YD and partner were here for lunch and then she took the dog away with her to clip him. So tonight he is flat out snoring his little head off after forgetting that he is quite old now and bombing round the garden like a puppy! He always goes mad when he loses his thick long coat. Tomorrow he will be limping round the house like he has done the marathon!
Hubby is doing some DIY, long overdue to finish the shower room with a wall cabinet and the usual towel rails, etc. I have no idea why I enjoy these things!! Sad.
Another fun day tomorrow, hope its sunny
Lily x x

Well im hear in mind but not body afte two days in pub but boy did I have a good time, laughed with mates all weekend but ill today, would normally admit to it being the wine, pims, lager, vodka or margharetias, however, had a pizza on way home which was undercooked and threw it all up and been glued to loo all day, how nice eh! Also sis in law who doesnt drink much who had same pizza suffered too all day, never know might put me off pizza’s.

Well busy sitting trying to finish some wedding bridesmaid headdresses and jewellery off and off work tomorrow so taking mam shopping.

Boy I cant believe its nearly June already, have so much in my diary the year is going to fly by, sometimes scary but gotta enjoy self.

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend xx

Hi all,

I thought it was about time I caught up. Glad to see you are all having fun, not so sure Lisa’s posting sounded that much fun though aghhhh I can’t stand feeling like that still it sounds as if it was worth it! good to see you are living life to the full well done.

Lily I did a walk on Sunday but we got lost and instead of it being a 4 mile walk it developed into probably a 7 mile walk! I too have trouble with my feet and legs seizing up mainly through cramp at night but have trouble walking on my feet when I get out of bed so I guess that must be the tamoxifen they just feel stiff.

Well I have had my hair cut!!! first time at the hairdressers for a year and I have had a bit of colour put through it just some highlights to make it a bit more interesting I will get a more up to date photo to put on here as it is really curly now has that happened to any of you?

I have also tried to get on with contact lenses without much success and had to visit the doctors today to check that I had removed the whole lense and I needed some drops as I have made my eye so sore what a twit self inflicted. So not sure what I am going to do about them but I must leave it for a week anyway.

Lorraine totally agree Men can be so miserable they just don’t have the same attitude as us girlies do they. We had friends back on Sunday to eat with us and it was so lovely and hot I asked hubs to get the garden furniture out well that was going to be too much trouble as it all needed cleaning off etc, me thinking why wasn’t it put away clean and then covered over but no that would have been too easy. So next I asked him to take the conservatory table outside with help well begrudgingly it went out but they were all pleased when they were outside eating in the fresh air. Wouldn’t the world be a dull place with no girlies to make the effort.

Hi Nicky good to hear you are enjoying being out and about again doesn’t it feel so good to be resuming normal life and it all seems to mean so much more I am sure people think I am batty going around with a smile on my face and it has made me realise how many miserable people there are, obviously they may have real problems in their lives but so many people appear to be so abrasive such a shame. I have decided I only want to be around up beat people if possible so that may mean I need to trade the old man in, not really as he was a real force of strength to me last year.

Anyway love to all and enjoy the sunshine.

hi everyone

lily found one outfit but couldnt download so i will try again later. ive had to start looking on plus size sites, can you believe it, but hate seeing fat bulging out, so ive looked on simply be, which i think had a nice pink flowing dress on i have to have a size 18 at the moment, not happy about that.

bevvy
yes my hair came back curly at first, i loved it, but it grew too think and when i had it thinned out it lost all its curl.
sounds like you have a similiar man to myself, hed rather let me struggle, than give a helping hand, can hurt at times, but i let him off cos i think he isnt bad in other ways.

lisaf

sorry you been poorly, i hate being sick, mind you i dont drink alot so the booze would have done it to me.
better luck next night out.

love to everyone else.x

lily had to change my profile and put pic of dress in, i will change it back when youve seen it, let me know.x

Hiya all sorry Ive not posted for awhile Ive been out and about having lots of fun! Met up with friends from school who I hadnt seen for over 20 years I havnt stopped laughing for a week and it feels good even though Im shatterd. Went out 4 nights in a row! We are going to make it a regular thing and not leave it another 20 years ha ha

Its nice to get some warm sunshine and not be wrapped up like an Eskimo.
Im going back to work on the 15th June so be good to have something to do, going back on days cant work nights anymore less money but our health is more important :0)

Hi,
thanks Lorraine I have seen the dress. So short sighted now it is difficult to see the detail unfortunately. Lovely shade of pink and flowing is good lol. How are you getting on with your shopping for an outfit? Hope you have been lucky.
Hi Soulgirl we love to hear of people out having fun so no need for apologies. Good luck with your return to work and practice getting up at the right time for a week before you go back. I found it really hard to stand up for long and kept wanting to lie down - not easy in a secondary school lol.
Bev I am starting to worry about the race for life and that has spurred me back to the exercise bike. Your walk sounds really long, poor you. Yes first thing my feet and ankles feel like they are made of cement and crack and snap as I try to walk. It eases on the way back from the bathroom but if I try to go downstairs too soon, argghh. Contact lenses and eyes sound very uncomfortable, yuk. Hope they feel ok now.Lisa oh payback time sounded tough!! Hope you feel better by the time you read this and have funshopping. Look out for yellow for Lorraine.
Trying to finish another piece of work for my Masters and getting in a right mess with the bibliography and references, chemobrain lives on lol. I had to write about what has changed me over the last year. Well I let them have it, so if I don’t get the sympathy vote for that one I never will. it is tough trying to concentrate on it.
Nighty night
Lily x

nite all, just a quick pop in, will catch up tomorrow, off to bed after finishing jewellery yipppee!!!

p.s. Lily - did you enjoy Stavros Flatley??!?

xxx

Hi,
yes Lisa I laughed at them but surprised they went straight through.I was too busy watching the apprentice tonight, do you like that show? We love it and my son says he is going on there one day lol.I would be cringing.
What miserable weather today for my week off. I took my Mum back to hospital for routine stuff and she was ok. Still trying to get over our last visit when I went in and next thing she was ordered to strip!!! I thought I would have to whistle and look at the ceiling until the nurse wooshed the curtains round lol. When she had a stroke I used to get her in the bath with my eyes shut, quite tricky. I thought I was being nice and helping her feel she had choice about her privacy/dignity. She on the other hand thought she was so fat I didn’t want to see her!! LOL. You can’t win some days. Then we had lunch out and hit the shops. Oh dear well she had an ultra-sound and it was the same room, everything that I got my dx for Bc so not a nice trip down memory lane. Kept thinking the last time I sat here I passed out and then the day got even worse. So as you can guess I well and truely hit the retail therapy button. So I have 2 new skirts, one with grey and pink flowers and little sequins dotted about, the other pink floral linen with a big tie on the side. Also a blue and white summer dress and a brown blouse/top with all beads and detail on, quite cute. Bought little chap a cheeky monkey jacket and a t shirt. Bought 12 pairs of socks, 10 pairs of tights (large), a necklace, a bracelet and earrings in green, 2 packets of honeycomb, home made lemon curd and pig shaped ginger biscuits with pink icing. Plus a huge fuschia for a friend. I went home straight after that as I obviously could not be trusted near any more shops today! Hubby thought it was rather amusing fortunately so I will still be allowed to go to Primark, always a big bill there.
Hope it shines tomorrow
Lily x

Hi everyone - a grotty week weatherwise, good job I decided to work in the mornings! We have a nice sunny day here for a change and I’m hoping it stays that way through to the weekend, fingers crossed. I also had a trip down memory lane this week with a followup echo cardiogram which I had before I started chemo last year. Hopefully no damage shows up but the cardiologist requested one following on from my visit last week and all the heart problems I’ve been having. Having said that it wasn’t as bad as Lily’s revisit as I already knew how bad things were at this point last year :frowning:
On the plus side I have started taking the oral bisphosphonate tablets and have been coping with the half hour wait before I can have anything other than water. I’m getting used to getting up and pootling around, like on here, and then having my cuppa. So far so good and heaps better than going to the hospital every 3-4 weeks - long may it last.
Well done Lily with the retail therapy - not bad going - I never seem to find things in one go and spend time going back to shops before I decide what I need/want. Luckily I’m shopped out at the moment (after the Ball!) but will need a few things if we go ahead and book a proper holiday this year. Just waiting for ED’s results in early June and to see if she’s got on another course she’s applied for and I have to wait until I’m only 60 days away from traveling to get insurance. Hope to book something in the next week or so as aim to go in early August.
Other than that no news from me, hope everyone is doing well. Lorraine - have you got that yellow dress yet? Bev - my hair came back fairly straight and has stayed that way since. It’s short like yours looks and everyone says how good it looks but I still want it a bit longer on top. Having said that it grows like crazy so I’ll get there soon!
Hope you all have a nice sunny day, I’m now off for my cuppa and into work this morning for the last time this week - hooray!
Nicky x
