Hi,
first week back at school over and recovering on the sofa with 60 books to mark :frowning: . I have to start them this week or all 7 classes will be due at the same time and that is one mountain of books! School was better than expected as I have now managed the art of smiling and ignoring all requests for someone to do unpaid jobs that are not my responsibility. Strangely, everyone treats me differently and I thought/hoped they would go back to normal this term. I feel like THEY are keeping it in my mind and I planned it to be a fresh start this Sep. It is quite refreshing talking to new staff, who think I am ‘normal’. Off to check out carpets this weekend as they have to be ordered too. I have not even starte dclearing the lounge and will delay that as long as poss.I think we might be living in a bedroom for that week ha ha. It does not start for a few weeks Lorraine so I am resting ready lol. Hope the window man can get in to sort you out.Have a great time with the littles. My feet are always stiff but the heel pain is really yowee after work. Sorry about your thumb too. Max is really well thank you and back to normal. I hope that will last for some time. Bev I am sorry you have this problem too. I am considering seeing someone about it but worried they might stick one of those giant cortisone injections in it and can’t face that. I volunteer you to go  The tummy control are tights not knickers and the lady in M & S told me they were fantastic! I know what you mean about foods but this has transformed how they feel every day. It was not hard to spot as both were intolerant of milk as babies and YD had failure to thrive from it and was under a consultant for years. The specialist tested her and half a teaspoon of milk made her sick for 8 hours. Now they have it back but if careful most of the time, can do their 20% fun food. Lisa, twins, I have a scratchy throat, made worse by bellowing at children who would not zip it today. I have almost no classes that I have already taught so they are not used to me yet. Whoever had them before must have let them chatter and I have a huge room so had to keep repeating everything. My fault for being too nice and letting them choose who they sat with. Lisa have a fab weekend and hope you don’t feel too bad afterwards.
Have a good weekend everyone
Lily x

hi everyone

lily

didnt realise schools were back,(do you work in a private school?)
a week in the bedroom, gosh hubby will let you decorate all the rooms downstairs if thats the case. Window man came this morning, he was coming at 9, so i was up about 7 cleaning the bedrooms, but he still managed to catch me in me nightshirt, cos i didnt get time to change, but it got me moving early and i was out and about about 10.
Took little ones to farm, we had a good time, nearly never went cos it looked like rain, but its been dry all day, so you can never tell, so glad we didnt cancel. they are driving me mad at moment, theyre so loud tonight, my sons asked me what ive been feeding them, (now if hed asked what id been feeding the goats, that was a different story.) they love hob nob biscuits you know.(the goats that is!)

hope every one having fun, xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi Ladies

Sorry I haven’t had a chance to read back, but will do to catch up. It’s just to say that my appointments went ok, heart really good, the dr suggested I need to lose weight and build up body strength to stop being breathless!

The Diabetic dr isn’t concerned about my thyroid tests, she said she will keep an eye on it before putting me on medication, my diabetes is ok she is quite pleased with it and thinks a lot of my problems are due to longstanding diabetes (41 years) and maybe the menopause!!!

Will catch up and post more soon, hope you are all ok and enjoying some sunshine?

Love P xx

peacock

glad you had good results from docs, at least the hearts strong, which means you can work on your fitness, but you do gardening so thats some form of excercise anyway, and at least your trying to eat all that healthy veg.

lily

hope youve had good weekend, i went warwick castle with grandchildren and hubby. i was going to opt out of climbing to the top of the castle, but i didnt, and i climbed the 530 steps, and my legs nearly gave out at the top. (im dreading the morning) the weather actually stayed nice. the little ones are normally so good, but had a few sulks today, (especially when grandad kept teasing them, men theyre worse than kids)

everyone else, you must all be having so much fun, hope you havnt forgotten about us.
x

hi all

hope you have had a lovely weekend - its pouring with rain here today but held off yesterday for mates 40th party, which was fab and was asked my lots of people to plan parties - whoooo not a chance. Also had a good chat with mates brother but still not sure whats going to happen there. I had a really wierd moment, was sitting in the hummer drinking champers and we had special CD with songs for her and had evergreen by Will Young and it was “gonna take this moment and make it last forever” and I filled up, very strange, think I just looked round and seen all my best mates together having fun and hd a moment incase dont get it again and it was perfect!.

Well hope everyone had a lovely weekend, off to chill on sofa!! xx

Hi,
Lisa how are you feeling? I have a bit of a cough but also losing my voice. I wasn’t too bad this weekend but teaching will make it much worse. Might take a whistle to blow instead of shouting! ED has been to see a wedding cake maker and so we had sample cup cakes which were lovely - raspberry and white choc chip with decorative tops. Dragged Victor out to pick a carpet and had to take samples along to try against the sofa again. He agreed and it is darkish brown but with a lighter speckle so hope that won’t be too bad to keep looking nice. Victor had a bad weekend, which always makes me hysterical with laughter. He bought some new fangled spray to coat fence panels and the deck. He is always really good at things like that and very careful, which is what made me laugh even more. It was a bit too windy and the spray had blown (bright harvest brown!) all over the back wall of the house, the double glazing and all the windows. He then dropped the whole thing and he was literally harvest brown spotty all over. Looked a bit like someone had thrown tomato soup all over him ha ha ha. He was ranting and cursing about rubbish new gadgets and how he now has to paint the back of the house and clean all the windows and window frames. It was just too funny with orange spots all over him, his shirt, trousers, shoes, glasses, the lot. Half the plants have developed orange spots too. I did offer to help but he said he had to do it because he made the mess. I’m not arguing with that:)
Lisa you get so much more rain than us, come on down! party sounded fab and I know what you mean. I had a moment thinking about being at my daughter’s wedding next May and yes we will keep having these moments, nice ones I mean. Ok so how many of the 24 weeks with him have you wasted so far??? Get a wriggle on, we need a good romance to gossip about  What have you got to lose? What could you be doing right now???
Peacock well I am glad things seem to be going mostly well and the strong heart is a bonus after herceptin did its worse. Lorraine I work at an ordinary state comprehensive, although it got outstanding with Ofsted which has thrown a lot of flack our way. Ha ha about the bedroom, won’t be repeating that comment  Well done for the 530 steps, don’t think I could without a cake stop half-way. Littles do get a bit funny, probably going back to school and getting up early again. Hope you are not walking like John Wayne after your climb! Nicky is she all sorted out with a place now? Hope you can relax soon when they are both sorted out. Bev how is work?
Speak soon

Hi everyone, long time no see!
I’ve just about caught up with all the news and events since we went away. I’ll try and remember it all but sorry if I miss anything out!
Lily - poor Max, a very difficult choice to make but it sounds like you’ve made the right one as he seems very lively and not aware there’s anything wrong with him! Victor’s exploits with the spray tanning machine sound funny! Not for him of course, is he now San Tropez? Assume the fence is still needing it’s spray tan though. I was going to ask what things you need to be planning for the wedding, the task this weekend sounds yummy. But a big :frowning: for being back at school. My friend starts back today, she teaches at a primary school, but this year has a nicer class to handle, the past 2 years have not been as nice. It’s always awful to go back to anything but after 6 weeks away it must be a real dread until you get back into the swing of things.
Lisa - you should be a party planner! Ditch the day job and concentrate on what you do so well! Plus you’d get paid for it. As Lily says, stop holding back - we need some goss. Hope any aches and pains that (I think) you mentioned have gone and you’ve recovered from your partying this weekend.
Lorraine - nice piccy, I must do something about mine, haven’t updated it in ages. Good for you with the Warwick Castle climb, you will have earnt any cakes or treats, hope the legs didn’t ache too much after. Have the grandchildren gone back home now? You’ll need to put your feet up as little ones can be so exhausting, not that I have any myself!
Peacock - good news about the heart and diabetes checks, bad news about the weight loss!! It’s something I must onto now that all my trips have been done and I’m not eating out so much.
Bev - hope you had a good weekend and the aches in the ankles and head are not too bad, I creak all the time until I get going. I do think it’s all the hormone tablets we have to have, which makes sense if they interfere with oestrogen, which helps lubricate our bodies.
Well, here’s my catch up. We had hoped to have some places to view all lined up for went we went out last Saturday morning but none of the emails we’d sent had been replied to! That left us with nothing to see and we had to start the search when we got there. However the estate agents shut on Saturday, or at least Sat afternoon, and also on Sunday. 2 days there and not much progress. We did walk around though and spotted agents to visit for Monday. We also went to a grotty place advertised in one of the recommended papers which we didn’t even both viewing as it was such a dodgy area! Anyway, cutting a long and boring story short, we have found a place for YD that we’re all really happy with. It’s a few minutes walk from the uni and in a very nice area. It’s one of the ‘maids’ rooms in an appartment block so the entrance is lovely but her tiny place is at the very top of six floors, no lift! At least she’ll keep fit. She has a metro station right outside which means she doesn’t have to walk along dark streets etc when she gets back late. It’s a very small studio flat with a kitchenette area, shower room and a bed but at least there is space for her friends to kip on the floor when they visit. We finished signing the deal at lunchtime on Thurs and we were due to fly out later that afternoon - so the word stressful just about covers it! Well, it’s all done now and we’ve all got to go back in 2 weeks to take all her stuff over, by car. After that OH and I want to stay at home and throw our passports away! Since getting back, apart from being so tired, I’ve been at work and then catching up with ED and other things over the weekend so this is the 1st time I’ve had to get on here and update. No work for me today, hooray, but about 20 to-do’s already waiting for me.
Will catch up with everyone again and hope I’ve not missed anyone’s news out.
Nicky x

Nicky the flat sounds great and so relieved that you are happy with it but what a job and we thought it was tough having toddlers about! there seem to be more things to worry about as they get older. My son and his girlfriend are off on holiday to Borneo back packing aghhhhhhhh! I thought they had done all of that after uni but obviously not. Just glad I too will be away for one of their weeks as we are going down to Devon on Friday for a week’s walking, pub lunches and book reading. (well that is what I have planned not sure about hubby)

Peacock very pleased to hear your heart came out so well from the testing at least you know you can now build up stamina levels slowly with the gardening etc. The weight problem is something we all seem to be suffering from so boring having to monitor what we eat. Particularly after last year when we had no appetites really unfair.

Lily good luck with the new term poor Victor I could just imagine the scene you will be able to dine out on that one for years. Hope your ankles improve, mine seem to bother me some days more than others so not too much of a problem really.

Lisa well you have been living it up good on you. Glad to hear you are having such fun and as to feeling all emotional I think that is a normal reaction now. I seem to be able to cry at anything now. I went over today to seem my daughter’s best friends baby who is only 5 days old he is soooooo gorgeous I could have cried just looking at him and as for music well that is always setting me off.

love Bev x

hi all

Lily poor victor, he he!!!
Nicky - glad you got your daughters flat sorted.
Bev, babies always make things so emotional dont they!!!

Well no gossip here, was a bit too tipsy to remember me and Simons serious conversation, I know he doesnt have much time for anything serious and has had some bad experiences but says he likes me but we are boh busy at moment, im off to dublin in 2 weeks and then spain so cant see anything happening soon but its likely that hes back here permanently so i might have some gossip in future - aaarrggh!!! Im always trouble he he.

Back later off o put shopping away and lubricate my failing voice!!! xxxx

hi everyone

lisaf

your showing your age my girl, too busy for loooove, you need to reasess your life, right now! thats an order, we need some romance to talk about.

lily 2000

poor old victor. ha ha ha! my neighbour did the same thing last year, i can remember wiping it off my doors and windows, she did offer but i didnt have the heart, to make her. your hubby sounds soooo nice refusing to let you help, mine would just expect me to step in. legs are ok today, after marathon stair climb i am most suprised. hospital with my mum today, while she had a chest scan, she has a patch on her lung, which they need to do another scan on now. so of course my sister is worrying about it, but i dont know why i just dont see the point of worrying at this stage, this disease really changes your veiws. it was mums birthday today shes 82 , brought her a bird table and pic frame with pic of my son in it with a huge fish hed caught. of course they had choc cake, and of course i had to try it, im a hopeless case.

nicky
nice to have you back on site again. glad you sorted things out with accomadation for daughter, you can relax now. dont catch up with everything at once, you wont get a medal you know.

peacock
whats the weather like in france?

take care all x

Hi,
had a pretty ordinary day really which was nice. I am trying to maintain my acceptance of ordinary working days as being fine, nice good and not something to want to wizz by.I have some really nice students and some gremlins this year, as usual. I have a soft spot for slightly naughty, cheeky boys and I have a few of them in my new class and we have a good chuckle. I try to keep up to date and they think it is hilarious when I launch into ‘their words’ or sing along to songs. Not sure I will be able to keep it up as my son gets older, as he explains all to me.
I am in total shock today. A colleague at work is getting married next Summer and wants us (Maths teachers) to go to the hen night. She is hiring a choreographer to make up a dance from dirty dancing to teach us. We then (apparently) all rehearse all day and then (wait for it) perform the dance at the wedding reception infront of all the guests!!! OMG! I was totally stunned as was everyone else and couldn’t think of anything to say - for once lol. I would have to be paraletic and if I was I don’t think I would be able to dance. Not my idea of fun, performing with 24 year olds! Not my idea of fun performing at all!I have requested male strippers as an alternative!
Lorraine it took white spirit to remove most of it and we have an unwritten rule that anything chemical or potentially dodgy is not done by me. That includes dog poos and dustbins  Hope your Mum gets on ok. Know what you mean I take news of people having BC like it is a cold and have to pull myself up and not seem too unconcerned in case I sound callous. I try to remember the naive innocent ‘never been touched by cancer’ feeling but it does change your perspective definitely. Lisa and Simon hmmm has a nice ring to it. Ditherer what have you got to lose. Why not say something and roar off on your trip and leave him to ponder. I could kick you up the backside to get on with this!!! Remember that if we manage to meet NEXT month!!
How is your throat? I have been squeaky and coughing today.Bev my feet got worse and the last 2 days have been burning and pulling under my heel. Victor has been kindly rubbing my feet for me, seventh heaven arhhhhhh. What a worry these trips are and you can’t say much as they are so excited about going! I hate them being away. I hope you have some nice weather for your week away. I think I am going to ring the podiatrist I saw before as he said I was too complicated to treat while on chemo. I have his number so may be able to jump back into the queue. Nicky that sounds like one stressful trip and you must have been really anxious at times that you would find somewhere. Are you and hubby carrying all her things up 6 flights of stairs??? Lucky you - NOT! Max is actually really lively and better than he has been for ages. Despite being 9 he is walking up and down the lounge with a fluffy dog and biting it to make it squeak! Second puppyhood I reckon. Liked the San Tropez tan analogy very funny! I am back in the swing of work really but getting fed up of my weekends spent marking again. It has to be done!
Whats happening with ED? Is she at home or going away too?
Did you see the weather down our way for tomorrow Lisa 27 degrees!! Hope the sun gets up to you too
Lily x

Oh my god Lily, hee hee (sorry but have to laugh), god I could do an imprompto dance when drunk with mates but as part of someones wedding night having to learn a routine, oh no - please let us know what song and hope someone will youtube it I would love to see it!

Yes Miss I might just say something rather than feel your wrath!

Love to everyone else from a sunny(ish) whitehaven tonight xxxx

Oh Lily - that sounds fab (NOT). How can anyone believe it’s a good idea to put friends through that sort of thing? Let’s see if it takes off shall we, and, as Lisa says, get it on YouTube - you could all be the new sensation! If it does go well maybe you could introduce it at your D’s wedding as well
Lisa - I hope you’ve been suitably told off by Cilla here - not quite Blind Date but nearly! There’s no time to waste - get on with it girl!
Lorraine - hope your Mum is OK and she had a good birthday - chocolate cake - now that does sound fab and no wonder you had to have some - just to celebrate of course?
Hi to everyone else as well.
Yes, we will be climbing 6 floors up on a spiral staircase so it could take some time! We’ll make sure we have squidgy bags, none of this suitcase lark as they’d be nearly impossible to get up there. It was bad enough when we went to look at it 1st time, we all just stood there panting for ages whilst the agent shows us what was what! Can’t say she showed us around as you can see everything from one spot! I’ve been checking out IKEA, Primark etc for cheapy things to take as we will need to buy a few bits to make it more homely and keep it tidy with some extra storage. All of this has to fold flat so we can take it in the 1st place! ED is in dilemma mode, again. I do feel really sorry for her as she has had this before and changed her complete direction, which is why she still hasn’t been to uni or gone into full time employment! Her trainee job is fantastic but their advice is not to do the course she’s booked on as it’s not relevant enough in the industry, or maybe not to get into the industry at all as the pay is cr@p, plus she’s now reacting to some of the chemicals they use in the workshop which would rule it out altogether anyway! Long chat with Mum and Dad tonight is on the cards! She hasn’t enrolled yet, so we’re not committed to the fees etc, but she does need to make her mind up in 2 weeks when she would need to enrol! It never rains! (Well that’s a lie as it is here!)
Take care all, back to work for me today - I need the money to pay for all these trips and things.
Nicky xx

Hi ladies: have been reading thru all your posts – can’t possibly comment on everything but there is a lot going on including the possibility of lurve!!!

I was going to say that I have been ‘working’ full time last week and this but it is more a case of attending the office. Business is very quiet (construction industry need I say more?) but someone has to be here to deal with the phone – when it rings. Having been doing Thurs/Fri for well over a year now I really miss the time I have at home to do things. I am suppering with girlfriends tomorrow and I am designated to do the pudding – had to do it on Sunday and put in freezer.

Lily: sorry to hear about Max – it is never easy is it as they can’t tell you how they feel. My sister has Westies – five until Sunday, she used to run the Westie Rescue in Warwickshire and ended up keeping dogs that she couldn’t rehouse. Bonny was blind and 15 yrs old but had been very poorly for about two weeks, they discovered she had internal bleeding and let her go. She had really lived up to her name!

Why can’t people just get married with a bit of style and not get up to stupidity??? Sorry that is me being Mrs Grumpy. I see a sprained ankle coming on!

Bevy: Interesting how everyone says how well we look – I always think it is a euphemism for fat! Only good thing about a few extra pounds is, as you say, it fills out the lines. The Duchess of Devonshire (?) said that after 40 a woman has to choose between her bum and her face! Skinny bum, skinny face. I know which route I went! But I have got to shift some pounds, nay stones!! I look at all the clever underwear – Spanx, etc – but having tried an M&S all in one last week I looked more gross with it on than without it! They just tend to push the chubby stuff elsewhere.

These aches and pains are awful, it is all very well saying that it is better than the alternative, but it still bloody hurts.

Nicky: Glad you found somewhere for your daughter, no doubt she will have a marvellous time.

Peacock: Good news about the heart.

Nice day here – sunny, bit warm. Still looking forward to the proper cooler weather when you know what to wear – think a lot of black will be featuring!

Love to all.

Julia

Well just thought I would let you a know Im being a right mizz, im sitting at work with lots of hankies and its torrential rain and feel like poo, however, im not complaining as in grand scheme of things a cold is nothing, but doesnt stop a director being at home as doesnt feel well lol!!!

Soooo looking forward to a weekend of nothing, (unless I get a better offer of course), then weekend after Dublin then weekend after Spain - yipppeeeee, warmth away from torrential rain - still havent even made it across the grass to my decking!!!

Well dinner break over - better get back to it - speak soon!!! xx

lily 2000

i would definetly be making up an excuse to get out of that one! perhaps if they got patrick to turn up i might give it a go, ohhh he was good in that, the way he moved. love that film. like nicky said it will probably never come about, she might even think of something worse! everyone always seems to want to go one better nowadays. Bet it takes some time to settle the kids back into things. i brought my son a book of playground slang, so im here if you want any words checked out.

lisaf

sorry about your cold. at least it will be gone before your trips.

nicky 08
i love ikea too, and a lot of it does come flat packed now, so you should manage to spend your pennies. it must be hard enough to set them up in a flat close by, but the distance makes it even harder.

hope everyones getting ready for christmas it will soon be here!x

aaaarrrggh dont mention christmas xx

Hi,
Lorraine you’ve done it now, fancy mentioning Christmas!! You have started a chain reaction which I know will end up in me having boxes of crackers in my trolley on Saturday lol. I was still hoping for some sun and sorry Lisa but we are having some fab weather and everyone is moaning how hot they are again! I love it as I am sure my joints will be worse on the damp mornings:( It seems pretty definite about the dancing but I have a feeling I will be injured before the performance! I don’t mind having a laugh doing what she likes but she is the same age as my MD and did ballroom dancing. I wonder if her Mum will be doing it? Lisa sorry to hear you sre still under the weather in more than one way. My throat is still sore but no cold yet. Mine sort of sticks together and then can’t stop coughing and the kids get very frustrated trying to work out what I am trying to say.Usually break the school rule and have to suck throat sweets in class. No way am I going to be on youtube! I am sure you lot will laugh enough picturing me doing it IF I have to. When I think about it I am still speechless that anyone would even want to do it. My boss is supposed to be doing it too, in fact she was the one who brought up the conversation and told me her chin was on the desk when she heard. Hiya Nicky well the girls have got pretty complicated again haven’t they! I would either pay a young male some Euros to take the stuff up or hang a rope out the window and pull it up. Me I would be somewhere else in case of lymphoedema  Knew it would come in handy one day! I expect her sister being so organised has thrown ED into a frenzy. My son is like that, no idea really what or where he plans to go. It makes things so much harder as you can’t plan what you haven’t decided. I think I would almost prefer him to come up with some hair brained scheme like being an astronaut! At least we would have a focus. MY YD reacts to things and is allergic to shampoos, not good when you are a dog groomer! Anyway I hope she comes to some decision soon. I always say if in doubt, change nothing, just carry on until you do know what you want. Julia hi I laughed at the sprained ankle, a great idea!Yes I miss the free time at home too but couldn’t stand the poison and side effects that went with it.Asked hubby if I could retire now and he said not unless I spent a lot less money than I currently do! Huh!Hope you had a lovely girly evening.Max is looking really well so fingers crossed he has some more fun left. By the way I know I chose ‘face’.I am impressed you got into an all in one in this heat. Know what you mean though and would probably get overhetaed too and pass out. Ha ha if someone tried to loosen your clothes and found that armour ha ha.
Poor old Victor, its just not his week. Tonight he was happily watering all the plants on the deck and rushed in after being stung by a bee he thinks. It is quite swollen and he can’t bend his fingers on that hand tonight. A few years ago he was stung over 20 times by wasps (not sure if stings react fom other insects) and I always keep an eye on him as you can get sensitised and have anaphylactic shock. So made him have anti-histamine and paracetamol and spray on it. He says it is thumping. Yesterday morning he went to his firm’s new offices and was locked out as could only open the first door and had to wait over an hour for someone inside to come out as he is fist there. Just not his week:(
Lisa get on with it!
Cilla
x

Poor Victor bless him!!! Gave me a lorra lorra laughs!!!

Still up waitng for my curry to come out of the slow cooker and then hoping to get more sleep than the two hours last night coughing, everyone keeps wanting to send me home and feeling sorry for me cos I can barely speak and nos is soooo red but hey its a cold, think ive just got a bit harder cos it is just a cold and although feel crap its nothing compared to chemo so not feeling sorry for myself. i was very naughty today and didnt wear my sleeve and wow, felt like a new woman, not uncomfortableness, not aching round my back or achy arm, was bliss so if it hasnt gone down in December sod it!!! no more, would rather have a fat arm than be uncomfie.

Well finish off watching 60 minute makeover, saddo here. Hey think its about time we had some photos on here so I can see what you all look like!!!
xx
