Darling buddies from May - moving on

Ouch Nicky, sounds painful - soup for you today. Im on some form of bone strengtheners with arimidex cos of my age and dentist did explain it to me, not sure what they cna and cant do because of it as I wanted to look into getting my front teeth looking better - gap for england there!

Hope you pick up soon xxx

Hi Lisa
It was OK whilst the anaesthetic was working - a bit sore after! Plus today my jaw has been aching a bit rather than the tooth-that-was. Iā€™ve also got a bruise appearing on my face - not too bad, but someone mentioned it - not surprising I had this afternoon off from my job that involves talking on the phone all day!
Nicky x
ps - meant to have said well done for the weight loss - keep it up and we wonā€™t be able to recognise you in your photos!

hi there everyone

had kidney scan today, should have been plain sailig, but i seem to have a reaction to the diuretic tracer they had administered, i nearly passed out, they had to lie me down, and checked my heart, and glocuse and bp. before they let me go. they said the tracer som, etimes makes your blood pressure drop, and it had done a lot. the nurse wheeled me to the lav, and even had to wait while i did wee. so im taking it easy rest of the day. good excuse.

lily 2000

sigh of relief you havnt got the pupil from hell. sure you could sort him out though.

nicky

so glad youve had the tooth done, im ok with dentist but if i have to have one removed im petrified. watch out you dont get a chill in it, its so cold at the moment.

hope everyone else ok, soulgirl good to hear from you, thats the good thing with these forums, you can dip in when ever you have time.were always here for you. x

Hi,
Lorraine that sound scarey and hope you are feeling fine now. Did you have someone with you to look after you?
Nicky that sounds horrible too. When my daughter had her wisdom teeth out there were bits of jaw bone attached. The dentist said this was common to have a slight fracture to the jaw which would take 2 weeks to go completely. Sounds yuk but sometimes helps to know why something hurts. Get better soon x.
Lisa I have no shopping yet! I like the sound of John and hope he lives up to our very high expectations for you x. Good luck.
Very late as marking again and where is the weekend arggh
Lily x

Hi all: As usual trying to catch up with everything you have been doing ā€“ will try again later.

Saw Onc on Monday and he has changed me from Arimidex to Aromasin to help with the pains in my fingers ā€“ got that trigger finger clicky thing in about four now and swollen joints so canā€™t get rings on! He says it should be better for the joint pain and also said there has been an eight year study on Exestamane (Aromasin) completed last month which shows that it is better than Arimidex for long term protection. Anyone else come across this? Will try to find it somewhere on the web.

Will have another read through all your lovely messages and trust that those of you who are suffering are feeling better ā€“ it keeps on coming at us doesnā€™t it?

LOL

Julia

Thanks all!

Julie, would be really interested in any info you find out as Im on Arimidex as thought it was the so called ā€œgold treatmentā€ and I would be interested to hear of something better, spesh if cuts down the aches!!!

Well weekend nearly thank god! Have so much on today and tomorrow and sore throat again - starting to freak me out a little but fingers crossed its just my immune system a tad run down, just getting positive head on and want to keep it!!!

xx

hi there buddies

nice to see people appearing again who havnt posted for a while, good to keep in touch.
im feeling much better after episode yesterday, got a cat scan next week, hope body behaves better for that.
its getting so cold now, have to take coat when you go to town, but then end up carrying it when the hot flushes start. had a trip to town today, but still felt tired so give in and came home. try to get out everyday, otherwise its a long day,

two eldest having a mega row, so betta go for now.,

kids whod have them. x

Hi,
Julia lovely to hear from you. No I had not heard about that research either but I am interested as I expect to change tablets before too long. I heard my onc likes femara and it is the most expensive one. Not sure what is true as things change as new research comes in, I guess.I really need to look into this so I am ready for the debate when I change. Trigger finger sounds horrible and must make work and just doing ordinary things so much harder as well as painful.Fingers crossed (no pun intended) that the new tablets are a welcome improvement. You havenā€™t given us a countdown lately - how many tablets to go? Lisa what would a sore throat have to do with BC? Just concentrate on your snogging and forget it. IF you need to ever worry again, then will be plenty of time to worry. Right now is ok/great and your out there enjoying life time.
Lorraine glad to hear you are ok after that scare. I think you should warn them about your reaction when you go for the next scan as they will know if a similar drug is used or not. They are certainly putting you through your paces at the moment. Have you got your own parking space at the hospital now ! I donā€™t feel hot at all really cold now the weather has changed.Much easier to be cold I think. Nicky how is your mouth now ? Hugs x.
Well went out to dinner for the second day running, so bad to keep eating so much. Had a lovely time with 2 local friends, everyone else was ill. MD has been told that little chap is really clever and is smug as a bug. Not clever enough not to fall out the wendy house though. So he is sporting a bloody nose and big scab. His school have a lovely activity called forest day when the little ones are outside doing things all day. They had made a shelter to play in and had a bonfire and toasted marshmallows. He was really impressed with that one. Today forest day had been about mud. Yup you can just imagine what he looked like!YD had 3 dogs and one is really naughty. Two days ago she came home and he had quite literally eaten the sofa. I have an amazing photo from her phone of a mountain of white foam and him standing looking sheepish. There is only one cushion left out of all the seats and backs on 2 sofas! So today he started moaning and she had to rush him to the vet. Where he had not one, not two, not three but four vets stick their hands up his backside and say they could feel something hard like a pen but it was just out of reach eek. So she was sent home with 2 enemas (as he has a large bottom - their words ) and had to stay off work all day as he went and he went and he went! First time ok, second time a huge lump of sofa fabric came out and next time a whole rope plus knot off a dogā€™s toy came out. I am never ever going to look after him if she goes on holiday!
Love
Lily x

god had to read that twice lily to fully understand and howled, guilty laugh though, poor pooch!!!

Sore throat sore but I just cant shake this cough which had for about 6 weeks, hope its just the end of whooping cough, mistake of reading a post from someone who went with a persistent cought to find out lung secondaries, arrrggghh!!

Weekend tomorrow, have a visitor again, gulp. offered to make some food but he has a wheat and gluten allergy, boy didnt realise how much its in! Liverpool Xmas shopping saturday with friends, yippeeee xxxxx happy friday girls, lovely to see a few people back xx

ha ha ha lily you always make me laugh! poor doggy at least he was well cushioned. oh dear! little grandson sounds adorable, it brought back memories of my wendy house but i only had a cadboard one, but loved it. i was so annoyed at grandaughters mum yesterday, we had won some tickets when we were with here. to go and see cinderella. i told her mum ages ago, and when i tried to arrange date, she said shed already booked to go and see it with her. erhhhhhhhhh

i calmly text her back and asked if shed forgotten i had said wed won the tickets. of course she said she had. but never mind my grandsons and their mum are now coming with me. i didnt think theyd like it being boys ,but thier mum says they secretly love it, so problem sorted. ive always got on great with grandchildrens mums(who are not with my sons anymore) but one of the fellas is trying to make things difficult i think. i kept my cool, and reacted nicely anfd i think she now feels guilty.

any way rant over, got to do some housework, son whos 14 bringing his girlfriend home tonight. should be nice to meet her, but im concerned cos there so serious at such a young age.

take care all x

Hi all: Iā€™ve tried to do a three week catch up and have read all your news, but canā€™t possibly comment on everything!

Lily ā€“ loved the story of the masked ball and good news you have your wedding outfit and love all your stories about your family ā€“ donā€™t know how you have the time to write so much with your school work, etc. Your ideas of punishment are great. Mind you, I think an AK47 would solve the problem more permanently. When I was at school ā€“ yes I know, back in the Dark Ages ā€“ we had an Austrian Headmistress (Miss Ims) complete with grey bun and sensible shoes. She only had to stand there, saying nothing and order was restored. The school had about 1,000 girls and she kept the whole school in detention for a week because she caught some girls eating during Speech Day. Oh no, she didnā€™t take prisoners!!

Lorraine: As Peacock suggested, Iā€™ve done my posts in Word and the copy/paste thing for ages, it also gives you the opportunity to go back and change things when you are trying to read through loads of posts and want to update what you have said. Wow that was scary with your kidney scan, as everyone says; just make sure they know about it for the next one.

Lisa: lovely reading about your date ā€“ you are brave! It must be difficult knowing what to say about your BC ā€“ part of you must want to ignore it on the basis that you donā€™t want it to become a major thing. Your man sounds very nice and, as Lily says, has manners ā€“ thatā€™s rare! Re your cough ā€“ my husband always says that I get a terrible cough when I am stressed ā€“ I didnā€™t realise that. He noticed when I was DX and was stressed to death ā€“ had to have op delayed until it was under control. Could yours be something similar?

Nicky: Tried Body Balance ā€“ nearly crippled me! I think the guy taking the class had decided to make it fast and hard ā€“ one dose of that was quite enough, thank you. Hope you have recovered from the dentist ā€“ hate going there but am due for check up so better get it done.

Peacock: long way back but so glad your pup came back, and hope the rads damage gets better. A friend of mine has just complete 25 doses and as her lump was underneath her boob is suffering really badly. Grade 3 burns, sounds horrific ā€“ I think I would have bailed out before it got that bad.

Iā€™ve been watching Collision ā€“ which is OK but I think they had a two hour story which they have stretched into 5 hours with continuous repeats ā€“ that annoys the whatsit out of me and gets very boring. Amazing that each vehicle contained a bunch of lunatics or crooks rather than boring people just going to work of shopping. Will watch tonight and hope the pretty girl takes off the McGann guy ā€“ at least he has some dosh and style!

Re my aching fingers ā€“ a friend has suggested Green Nettle tea which she takes for her arthritic hip ā€“ says it is vile but seems to help ā€“ not sure about that one. I find that when I am holding knife and fork my LH ring finger clicks on to the fork and I have to lift it off ā€“ sounds gross doesnā€™t it? But it doesnā€™t hurt too much although with the cold weather I get the chilblains feeling without gloves. Must get some more Gluco pills as my Onc says to keep taking them

Canā€™t find anything on the web about the research my Onc mentioned but I did nine months on Arimidex and now have the rest of the five years on Aromasin, assuming it works for me. I see my surgeon in Jan and Onc in March and then I go onto twelve months checks ā€“ which has to be good. Will probably bully them into another bone scan in about Feb as it will be twelve months since the previous one.

Went shopping ā€“ again ā€“ yesterday to Jaeger in Leamington. As I have a loyalty card I automatically get 20% off everything ā€“ even things in the sale ā€“ and had another Ā£20 refund to use up. Bought cracking black (I know boring) dress that is being taken IN. Hooray! I usually live in trousers but have decided to get the legs out and wear dresses ā€“ they always seem more dressed up but, as Joan Collins says: When in doubt, overdress!!

Well thatā€™s my big catch up, trust we are all going to have a good weekend ā€“ weather forecast not brilliant but can always hide from the rain.

Hugs to all

Julia
XX

Wow Julie, fab getting a dress took in, way to go!!!

Could be right about the cough however probably just down to recent bowt of whooping cough and cold again afterwards, yuk!!! Wierd how most of us avoided all sorts of germs when having chemo, must have been so careful and kept clear of germs!!

Its good you get to see your ONC, I have only ever seen mine once throughout the whole procedure and then an understudy during chemo and a final understudy to give me my pills then that was it, signed off, very wierd as it would probably be useful to have a chat every now and again instead of just a check up with doctor or nurse 6 monthly.

Well, another cuppa tonight with John, lets hope he is a gentleman and doesnt go in for a grab otherwise he could be in for a shocker - dont know him well enought to tell him the crack yet without making myself and him even more uncomfortable - but when I do if he takes off then so be it, heā€™s loss!!!

hi there buddies

lisaf

are you really sure guy doesnt know about bc. i find it hard to believe someone hasnt mentioned it to him. i wouldnt be suprised if he already knows, and if so brilliant because hes still keen.
hope coughs better i think this damp weather wont help, i know my children had whooping cough when young, and got a lot of croup in the damp weather for a while. try some herbal remedy im sure theyre will be something, or just plain honey. i was going to say get john to rub your chest, but maybe later when youve explained certain things. (only joking)

julie

well impressed having dress took in, i sympathise with your fingers, i have same problem with thumb, and you forget and it gets stuck straight, sometimes its so hard to crack back. but at least mines only left thumb. im drinking green tea and lemon at moment, but dont think that will help with this.

lily

have a good weekend, enjoy a slow start no rushing about.

nicky
hope you ok

peacock
hope weather not too bad,

everyone else take care, live a little , love a lot. and have fun x

Hi to all buddies

I am only going to make a quick post, Iā€™ve had a rotten week and donā€™t want to depress you all with it - fortunately nothing involving my health - just stress to do with house build, weather, lack of internet connection, and being very tired.

House - well the fosse lady came out and wouldnā€™t pass the septic tank so it means it has to be dug up a little bit again and re done. Not impressed.

Weather - has been awful wet and windy, although today has been like a spring day but we are also in for some bad weather over the weekend. Not a good thing when the land just looks like a building site with mud, glorious mud - the hippos and pigs would love living here at the moment LOL

Internet - a nightmare - keeps telling me its not connected when it is, changed router over for the 3rd time in as many weeks and then had to completely wipe my PC and reload - its not much better and half way through being on the internet it disconnects, hence my quick post to try and ā€œspeakā€ before it does that. Not good when I rely on the net so much for communication and work.

Havenā€™t heard anything yet from the hospital/Onc re the removal of my portacath, they donā€™t seem to be hurrying themselves. Coughing is a little bit better, but comes in bursts. Have been feeling very tired though, but putting it down to all the hassles Iā€™ve had.

Lisa - glad to hear it seems to be going well with John, when the time is right you will know when to tell him. Maybe he knows already and is being a gentleman by not bringing it up?

Julia - I wish I could follow your example and lose some weight, know what you mean re the fingers, mine are quite painful too. Green nettle tea, well we have plenty of natural nettles on our field does that count? I really donā€™t know what to take, donā€™t like keep taking painkillers but getting so fed up not being able to open lids or do simple things like lock the patio doors etc. You seem to be followed up pretty good, unlike for me and others it seems. I havenā€™t seen an Onc since Feb, my next appt with him is next July!

Lorraine hope you are ok and enjoy the show - I send you full marks for coping with a 14 year old plus girlfriend! I have enough problems coping with just a 14 year old YD!

Lily I remember so well our conversations last year about feeling cold and wrapping up in duvets. Itā€™s dejavue isnā€™t it for you. I can believe the dog eating the sofa. Our young pup has managed to eat quite a few things like laptop connector plug (whilst it was connected and charging), slippers, shoes, paintbrushes, plastic inflatable toys, tupperware containers - and on and on. Loved the story of the enema! Donā€™t blame you, you donā€™t need your sofa eaten do you if you dog sit (lol).

Anyway, going to go before I lose the connection - she says with speed - have a great weekend ladies and hope the weather isnā€™t too bad for you although it sounds like its going to be horrid. Imagine my poor OH working on a cross channel ferry with gale force storms - nice!

On that note

P xxxx

Hi,
wow lots of fab posts to read tonight. A bit yawny as set myself a target to mark one set of books tonight and kept stopping to watch tv or answer the phone. Also YD came in. I asked why she was so late and she said she did not dare leave the house until her partner came in in case the dog continued his meal of eating the sofa. She has decided wisely I feel, not to have a Christmas tree this year! She has her own business walkind dogs and dog sitting, etc. Sometimes she gets really bust but canā€™t double up the dogs as they are all naughty pups and thats why the owners want them walked so often. Anyway she was really having trouble fitting them all in and phoned to see if her brother could help. He was at school and I mentioned that Victor would be home. So the 2 of them went out for an hor walking. YD with a large bouncy labrador and Victor with a very small pug puppy who is also a maniac. Both were on extending leads!!! YD said they were alright until they went down an alleyway when Victor lost control of the button that winds in the dog. The pug (with Victor apparently totally helpless!) ran round his legs, round YD and the labrador and had them completely tied tightly together so none of them could move. The pug then was launching attacks on the lab as he was unable to play back. Yd fell over she was laughing so much and had to sit on the floor to recover and Victor had his hanky out crying as he laughed so much! Not sure if he will be trusted to go again.
Peacock sorry to hear it was not a good week and that you have a chewer too. I am trying to convince Victor that we should rescue another dog but after YDā€™s sofa he is not too keen. He will be putty in my hand if I can get him to see one -old softy! Ferry sounds like a bad place to be this weekend.Poor him.
Lorraine I applause your charm and good sense with the outlaw and good for you for keeping in touch with them all too.Grandparents get rights soon. Julia yes I am impressed (secretly sickened by your ability to have a dress taken in)and you must spur me into action. I keep reading that being overweight is the greatest risk factor for a recurrence so why canā€™t I get on with it? I went to an all girls school like that too and was terrified of the Headteacher. Also of a terrible Italian music teacher who used to walk up to you and put her ear right next to your mouth to check you werenā€™t miming (I was). So I used to try to get to the end of the row so she couldnā€™t get near! We had to know The Lordā€™s my shepherd by heart or else!Liked the punishment and good job I donā€™t have one!
Lisa or should I say Jisa well cuppas with John. Such a change from your usual tipples! Well I think you should tell him very soon before you get fond of him, just incase he canā€™t manage. I have a good feeling about it and that he knows, hence the taking it slow. Just say has anyone told you about me? Definitely tell him before your softie hits the floor  What fun and how fab if it got the other bloke jealous and you had 2 fighting for you
Nicky how are you matey?
Gotta go
Lily x

Well girlies he defo didnt know but does now. he came through and I made tea, heā€™s sweet and doesnt seem to do personal chat. heee hee best laugh was he ventured onto my sofa, had a little kiss and robson growled the whole time and chuntered, well he only wnet in for a gentle grope, lucky was on my good side and moved him away, went back again (god could only tell certain people this), still sat together cuddling but could feel his heart going like the clappers and he seemed to feel really guilty and left soon after.

so, text my mate but shes proud of me cos in meantime I text in the nicest possible way and explained it to him, his first reply was ā€œit will be okayā€ and the second text was ā€œtext you at weekendā€ hes away this one, yes it wasnt total personal but he is a bloke and a guy type bloke so to me it was quite a nice reply and if he cant handle it fair play to him, dont blame him and if he doest stick around good cos hes nice!!!

Get me! Have a lovely weekend all, of to Liverpool for day tomorrow!! xx

Hi ladies - wow what a lot to read!
Iā€™ll only have time for a quick reply as Iā€™m off with OH trying to do a bit of Christmas shopping but not in Liverpool like lucky lisa!
Lisa - well, Iā€™m glad your ā€˜storyā€™ has come out and we will all have to wait and see what happens. I hope that he can deal with it and, as youā€™ve said, if he canā€™t then maybe heā€™s not the right person for you. Iā€™m so glad you are able to speak to us about it as it is such a delicate subject and if youā€™ve not been through all this cr@p I really donā€™t think you can understand. Have a great weekend and fingers crossed - from one of us who can still cross them;-)
Sorry about all the aches etc and rubbish thatā€™s been dealt out to some of you this week, hopefully things improve.
Lily - OMG - I cannot believe the dog story! It sounds like Mary Poppins bag - all that stuff coming out LOL. The other story was funny as well - you should be writing a book!
As I said just a quick post so hope no-one is annoyed. Iā€™ve been busy this week, work and recovering from dentist. Very sore on Weds afternoon so came home (probably have said that already) but improving from then. Just hoping thereā€™s no complications. Other than that very boring week and also hoping the storms that are being predicted arenā€™t too bad as weā€™ve got loads of big trees around us and when itā€™s been as wet as it has the roots get a little loose!
Hope everyone has a good weekend, ED and a friend of ours is doing a mad run called the Hellrunners on Sunday - in and out of water etc. I think Iā€™ll give watching it a miss!
Nicky xxx

Hi,
Nicky glad to hear the mouth is starting to improve and be careful to wear a scarf around your mouth if you go out in the cold. MD has raging toothache which they say is not her teeth so looking at sinuses next. My ear keeps stabbing and then stopping so keeping that warm too as it is very sensitive to draughts. I had my ear drum burst years ago when went out on a windy day and can still remember how much that hurt. Hopefully just the canal groaning! How did the shopping go. As you know how big my Victor is you can picture how silly he would look tied up with a puppy pug!
Lisa well I have never been so excited about someone elseā€™s grope ha ha! Mind you these days we all have a lot of action in that department at check ups!!Hmm if he is not a chatter I think that sounds a good text back. he might be embarassed that he did the wrong thing or too quick and be taking it easy. Think he might also be waiting for an encouraging text back from you - so do it  Bet you hope your Dad never sees this lol! I have heard about internet chats like this ha ha.
I have little chap over night as MD poorly and he has only just gone off to sleep as excited to be here. It meant an evening of childrenā€™s programmes but I insisted on watching x factor even though he talked right through it. Ydā€™s fence has blown down so she is worried the hounds may escape and get into someone elseā€™s house and eat their sofa too! I might put the photo she took on here if I can work out how to get it off my mobile to here. Lorraine are you being lashed by a storm too? Giant puddles across the road here. Son and his friend phoned me from his bedroom today at 12.15 to say would I bring a full English breakfast up to them! Cheeky devils. They had been celebrating a friendā€™s 18th and heaven knows what time they got in. Trouble is everyone they know is 18 this year so parties galore. Nice to be young and have the energy to keep up
Hope not too cold with you
Lily x

hi everyone

lily
poor daughter, toothache just makes you so miserable. maybe shes been gritting her teeth, cos of her doggies. no joking i used to have to wear a guard at night, but couldnt cope with it. so i used to get neuralgia a lot. and ear trouble seems to be something everyones getting with these viruses at the moment.
weather not too bad here, in fact today was a lovely sunny day. had grandaughter, shes moved to a new area, so we keep scanning the areas for wackys but not many where she is, loads by us. we wondered around the gadget shops, and in one of those shops were you can make your own bear, she was facinated but didnt natter for one. i think someone had had party and there was several of them had one of the bears, your talking 20 pounds a time, gosh mine used to get goody bags.

nicky

Well John still texting albeit it drunk last night but he text me and was soppy so we will see, not sure if we will talk about it much but cleared the air at least. Like I said, if he cant handle it then his problem not mine but seen as mate told me Johnā€™s brother just finished chemo he might understand.
