Hi everyone,
Lisa haven’t you worked out you’ve got at least 5 other Mums on here lol We all try to sort you out but in a nice way. Fab that you are up again and I am waiting for the next news on that story. I think not pinning all your hopes on this first person is a sensible idea. Most of us enjoy some window shopping first before we choose our favourite comfy slippers Just have fun, you deserve it.
Bev this sounds very exciting and I would very much like to read it so will forward an email address. Bet you were glad to have hair for the photos. Can I say thank you for doing that for the next generation even though my dearest wish will be that mine don’t need to use it.Have a fantastic break.
Lorraine, I could sense you dipping and although we are all different I know female company is often the best thing. Some people we meet just naturally bounce us up more than others and that lady sounded just the right person. I think when you are at home the days slide into each other and you need something on the calendar to be looking forward to. The rest of us have the weekend to look forward to and switching the alarm off. When I was home the weekend was like a tornado arriving and lots of work, much as I love them all. keep leaning our way buddy.
My son’s friend’s brother has just had an amazing escape. He was cycling along and got dragged under the wheels of a passing bus and was trapped under it and fully awake. They had to tip the bus over to get him out.It was a dreadful situation and his chances were not very good obviously. He is in intensive care with 2 broken legs, a broken arm and a ruptured spleen but they say he will be ok. Three weeks before, his brother (son’s friend) was also run over by a car pulling out and had to have a skin graft. Can’t imagine the stress that poor Mum has gone through but fab they are both going to be ok.
Made me really glad mine has a car as he pestered for a bike but I would not give in.
Enjoy the fireworks, Max is woofing his head off and will be eating a large sock if he doesn’t shut up

hi there
lily
yes it did feel like i was sinking, but i feel as though ive turned the corner hopefully. i do plan things for each day, and i still dont manage to fit everything in. today, kitchen being tiled so i will be off out, out of the way. and the sun is shining so hopefully that will continue to improve my mood. i do miss work, but i know i wouldnt manage because of my off days, but i intend to keep living life to the full, im so lucky to have that opportunity. would have brought myself the coat i talked about but, younger son needs trainers, as his are split, so have to wait another week. but shall probably head into town for a coffee and just chill. my youngest son is starting work with his dad today, he sells mobile phone accessories, my son is quiet but hopefully working with the public will bring him out of himself. i used to do it, but theres so many phones now, does your head in.
i was hoping to do some christmas wrapping, but my son is in the spare room, sleeping off a night on the tiles, so i think it will wait till later.
hope everyone has great weekend, take care.x
lily
i forgot to say, it sounds like that poor mother has had so much to deal with. boys can be a worry cant they? i remember when mine where small they used to go out on bikes, and they werent very careful watching for traffic, and they dont seem to get any wiser with age, not like us women. thankfully he survived, and lets hope it learns him to take more care. x
wow that mother has had a hard time. Glad you bit more up beat Lorraine.
Well had great night last night with friends from holiday. off to bonfire on beach tonight (weather permitting) then to friends for curry, oh and maybe another date tomorrow - nervous yes, but even if we just end up friends ive moved on and done soemthing I wouldnt normally, someone said to me yesterday god thats brave and what if doesnt like you, hell , after two ops, chemo and rads, being dumped is a walk in the park, lol…
Enyoy x factor all - do you think twins will stay in again, poor sods
lisaf
way to go girl! thats the attitude grab all you can from life. you have so much more to offer the right guy, and mr right will come along im sure, were your not looking for him.
cant wait for appointment with onc, few worrying syptoms still. but had a nice day in town, and my tiling has been starting in kitchen, after waiting for about 3 years, so things are looking up.
x
Hello everyone,
Well another X Factor bites the dust, who are you all voting for?? Apart from the twins (Ghostbusters???) I think everyone else is good, and all deserve a place in the final. Did anyone watch Robbie Wiliams on Jonathan Ross last night? He was brilliant, in my opinion and I am so glad he seems to be sorted.I am pleased to say the car passed its MOT, another 2 years to go before the next one. I’m looking forward to “I’m a Celebrity” starting next week.I’ve been working on the internet today, trying to keep warm and dodging the showers when I go to collect wood for the log fire. It is wet and cold here, how about for you ladies? YD went to visit the horses, she’s into horseriding at the moment, but it was so wet today all they managed to do was brush and put coats onto the horses. I’m happy to report back that the boiler is ok now, lovely hot baths to warm up in. I decided to make some Mulled wine this afternoon, it was delicious so me and a friend managed to drink a few glasses - a super “warming” drink. Beginning to feel a bit Christmassy now. I did some shopping yesterday with YD, she needed some boots and I was looking for a coat. Thankfully we both managed to find something we liked and I cant wait to take the dog for a walk with my new coat on!
Lisa - I agree with fellow posters, you are a lovely, kind lady and any chap is lucky to find you.
Nicky - hope you had a great family meal and that YD got off ok for her trip back to Paris? It’s always a sad time when our children depart, but not long to the Christmas break so she’ll be home then. Wishing you luck with your dentist this week.
Lily - you are so wise! Keeping busy is a good therapy, I have to try and do that when my OH is working away. He’s been away for 3 weeks this time, with another 2 to go and it seems like forever. I am sure I used to go to Samuel Pepys pub in London - ;being an ex Londoner. From what I can remember it used to have sawdust all over the floor - is it still like that do you know?
Bev - the photoshoot sounds exciting I would love to see the photos if possible.
Lorraine - i’m pleased your mood is improving, but I know what it is like, a good day and 3 bad days but hopefully you have turned the corner now and you will get many more good days, painfree and problem free. Did you manage to find a winter coat?
have a good Sunday all
xx
Hi all,
Peacock I like Joe on X factor he has such a lovely smile and a great voice but as you say they all deserve a place over the dreaded twins. I haven’t watched Robbie yet but have it recorded and like you I am glad he is making a come back. Now the mulled wine sounds good just the thing for the chilly days. Our daughter is home from France soon and we are going to have an early christmas lunch so I may do some mulled wine to start us all off in the righ spirit! pardon the pun.
Lily how dreadful for that poor mum but thank goodness the boys are o.k. thankfully niether of mine had motorbikes although my daughter wanted one but we talked her out of it. I have put the link here for the newspaper article that you may be interessted to read about.
Everyone at the hospital was really buzzing about it. I feel privilaged to have done my bit to help but thanks for your kind words meant a lot.
Kent Messenger Maidstone pressdisplay.com/pressdisplay/viewer.aspx hope that works but not too sure if I have done it correctly. (apologies if it doesn’t)
Lorraine glad to hear you are feeling a better. I know from having my hours cut drastically it is not good to have too much time alone and also creates difficulties not earning as much money too. Hope everything improves for you.
Lisa good on you keep those positive feelings and don’t worry about what everyone else thinks. I really hope things work out for you as you certainly deserve it. go girl!
Nicky glad you had a nice time with YD and good luck with the trip to the Dentist.
have a good week everyone.
Bev xx
sorry Lily that hasn’t worked so not sure how to do it. Never mind you will no doubt read about the procedure soon in the nationals.
Bev x
Hi everyone, a quick catch up whilst OH watches the footy - his team - The Blues, so let’s hope there’s a goal for them soon!
YD got off yesterday afternoon and seemed quite happy to go back as she now has a group of friends out there, unlike when she 1st went in September. The week whizzed by and we hardly saw her in the evenings as she was catching up with her mates over here. She’s coming back in a few weeks as an extra visit, mainly for the boyfriend - again thank goodness for clubcard deals!
Hooray - there’s the goal!
A damp cold day today but we went to an event at Mercedes Benz at Brooklands this morning, an end of Grand Prix thing with Lewis Hamilton there plus some other F1 drivers. We applied online to an email and luckily got tickets. ED, OH and I went but all wished it had been like yesterday, weatherwise, as it was so cold. However got some good photos even if we didn’t get autographs.
Glad to see everyone is picking up, the horrible weather can really bring you down so any nice days, like yesterday, are a bonus. I think Christmas shopping is beckoning me as well. As I’m not at work tomorrow I’ll have a go, especially the stocking present which take the most time.
Bev - what a star - you must let us know if you hear any more about your fame!
Lily - scary stuff about the two brothers, as you say, their Mum must be so stressed but no doubt so grateful that they were injured any more than they were.
Lorraine - hope you have had a good weekend, getting out for a treat, even a quick cuppa is good for the soul
Peacock - glad the car is OK and you got some retail therapy! We had to get YD a longer, warmer coat as she says Paris is colder than here. That doesn’t seem right as it’s further South so maybe she’s kidding us?! I’m not sure about ‘Celebrity’ I have watched it before but it gets even more ‘Z’ list these days and goodness knows what will happen if Jordan goes back in as suggested. I changed my view of her when she went in and met Pete but she seems to have reverted back to form since the breakup so I’m not one of her fans anymore. We’ll see.
Lisa - hope the date has gone well, as you say, you’ve faced more things in the last few years than a date going wrong so you can handle anything I should think! Love the new positive you, what will you do next
Hope I’ve not missed any news out or not answered anything I’ve been asked - I have a habit of that! Hope next week is a good one for us all, especially on Tues afternoon when I see the dentist!
Take care
Nicky xx
hi everyone
lily
you wouldnt believe it, i went out with hubby today and left half of my chicken and chips, i just feel so bloated and uncomfortable i cant eat at times, but not making any difference with me weight. and i didnt even have a pud, he had pear and ginger sponge, yum yum.
nicky
i love the little stocking fillers. there was a good one in debenhams, it was a pump that males put in their pockets and at the right time, press it and they look well endowned. me and another lady where killing ourselves laughing. i have brought my brother in law a pair of silver glittery male thongs from primark, and little ducks on strings with bubbles in for grandkids. bet you find some good ones.
peacock
what colours the new coat? im still waiting for mine. but sons so pleased with his trainers it was worth waiting. i think my mood will improve a lot when i can see oncologist, and have him reason some of my symptoms away. weather not been too bad last few days.
bevvy
im not bored, i get out such a lot, and have loads of friends, im always doing something, probably too much at times. so i dont think thats why im down at times, more how im feeling physically worrying me, hopefully it will improve. sorry your hours have been cut, i bet you find plenty to do with that time though.
lots of love.x
Hi,
well just a quick post as recovering from 13 to bonfire tea and fireworks in our garden. I just filled the dishwasher for the second time and still not all in. Victor let all the fireworks off but the wind blew the rockets are way which added to the excitement as they dropped out the black sky onto our heads. I had to laugh as some fell over next door and from the sqeaks I think someone was outside! They drift down quite slowly but we had about 30 so they just kept coming at us. Max was not very impressed at all and barked all the way through them. Lots of food left over - shepherds pie, sausages, sausage casserole, jacket potatoes, pasta, roast veg, strudel, apple crumble and trifle. So tomorrow’s tea is looking up
Nicky thinking of you and the rotten dentist. But as my Mum always used to say to me - the sooner it gets here and is done, the sooner you can stop thinking about it. Anyway I hoep it goes as smoothly as these things can. Lorraine I am always amused by your eccentric and cute pressies. Keep up the ideas coming so I can copy some. I will have very little time and have to rush round shopping this year.Tiling in the kitchen sounds lovely, what colour. That should brighten the place up once it is finished and it will be nice and shiny when you go in there. Is your son working with Victor full-time or part-time. I am not sure how old he is? Is it the same one who is in the way of your wrapping? Boys take up alot of room in my opinion. I gave my child dev class a homework to write what their ideal family would be. One said I don’t mind a boy or a girl but looking at my brother I would prefer a girl. How are Mum and your sister at the mo? Hi go Lisa go and are you out with him again??? You didn’t tell us how it went with your parents - thats if they know yet! I really hope you have fun anyway. I was sorry to see Lucie go out of x factor but I am voting for Joe every week so not too bothered. Hi Peacock grrr I missed Robbie and would have liked to have seen it. Hooray for the car and hot baths :)It is suddenly cold here tonight too but the heating is up high so ok for now. Might have a job to talk myself out of bed in the morning though.I think the pub did originally have sawdust. It is right on the Thames and all beams and low ceilings. Will ask Victor if he has been there recently. He is near Borough market since they moved so a bit further to go each day. He was near Southwark cathedral. I can’t remember where anywhere is nowadays apart from west Smithfield where I used to work. Used to look out at Barts. Bewv sorry I still haven’t sent the email -no memory at all these days. How lovel;y to have your daughter back soon. Nicky the F1 thing sounds great. I have never heard of it or might have tried to go too. How is your Victor’s knee have you sent him back with an absence note yet? That poor boy was under the bus for half an hour completely awake and the paper said the bus driver was so distraught he was trying to lift the bus up with his bare hands. Horrible.
well you all make me feel like I want a new coat now!! Green eyed monster lol.
Take care
Lily x
hi all, catch up later - sounds like you all had a nice weekend, I had a lovely one but soooo cold and shaky today, hope its just after effects of too much wine with bonfire and fireworks on saturday.
Watched Robbie on sky plus last night from Jonathon Ross, oh Im so glad he’s back and seems nicer for finding himself a good woman!!!
Well, John came round for a cuppa last night and seems okay,. think he’s coming around tomorrow too - not much gossip, haventeven got a goodnight kiss yet!!! Mam and dad okayish, dad hasnt mentioned and not too happy but needs to let me get on with it a bit!!! God help the poor lad if he ever gets round to meeting him!!!
See you all later!! xxxxxx
hi girlies
lily 2000
My son who’s helping his dad is 14, it was the eldest stopping me getting on with wrapping, hed been out on the booze the night before, and had gone in the spare room save waking his brother up. my youngest is supposed to be organising work experiencing but he keeps putting it off like everything else, typical teenager. we dont want him to just settle for the easy route and go with his dad.
been around the shops again, but didnt buy anything, only a calorie counter book. still feeling really bloated. the tiles in the kitchen are white, grey, black. it should be finished tommorow hopefully. bonfire sounded fun, hope leftovers didnt get wasted.
peacock
i was so annoyed at lucy going off x`factor it just wasnt fair. the other young fella(cant remember his name) the blonde one, he was so out of tune, and she sang beautiful. lifes unfair. erghhhhhhhhhhh.
nicky
hope dentist trip was ok, did you tell him about the meds for your bones, ive been told i have to mention it. i have another kidney scan wednsday and supposed to go dentist thurs, but may cancel, its only a check up, but dont feel up to it, cos its a trip to another town, and what with hosp day before, i think i will do it later.
Hi all
brrrrhh! it is very chilly here but at least it has been dry today for a change.
I’ve been working most of the day, is it just me or is anyone else finding themselves ravenous?? Must be the cold weather.
Lily - I used to work at Blackfriars and my 2 eldest children were born at St Barts. It’s a great hospital, well it used to be all those days ago.
Nicky - how did it go at the dentist?
Lisa - glad that you had a catch up with John, and good luck for another date tomorrow. It sounds like he is pretty easy going.
Lorraine - my new coat is black. It looks like suade but it isn’t as its ok to wash it. I must say it kept me nice and warm today when I took little pups out for a walk. She made me cross though for jumping up at me and my beautiful new coat.
Now I can’t look back on any of the posts for some reason, not sure why so forgive what I haven’t mentioned please.
Thinking of you all on this chilly night !xxx
Hi,
Peacock - it is a bit cold here but I am mostly in or in my car so probably not feeling the full effect yet. My car has heated seats and they cook you but on a low setting really help the aches from being cold in the morning. I am not feeling hungry but then don’t do any exercise or my foot gives me grief.
Lorraine you know I used to have a calorie counter book many years ago and I got on really well with it. These days I would probably eat the book too Boys and their beer! Mine likes a drink too but has a 6am start for work which tends to keep him on the straight and narrow a bit more than he would like. I had a call from his head of 6th form to ask me why he wasn’t in school today. News to me!! He had an A level coursework deadline and decided to sit in the library all day and not go to lessons. Bit hard to tell him off when he was working harder than usual. He is always very honest, in fact tells me things I REALLY don’t want to know too! No shopping ideas for me today then! I hope your next scan goes smoothly on Wed, do you always have 2 close together?
Nicky thinking of you tomorrow but think it will be over with very soon
Lisa ooooh John sounds very nice and didn’t jump you - manners too!! Well I think that is really nice anddon’t worry about your Dad that is what Dads do. My hubby does the stern bit when new blokes come in and spooks them. He is very tall and that seems to make people much more intimidated.
Well I felt obliged to watch ‘collision’ tonight as it is supposedly set in my area. Not at all gripping so far but maybe it will pick up tomorrow.Work has made me fed up this evening as just picked up an email saying a notorious student is about to come into one of my already naughty class. Not even brave enough to tell me in person, just an email! The situation has been contrived by a male ‘colleague’ who has just one naughty boy and now he has wangled him on to me. Not for the first time either and I really feel like punching him (the teacher)as he just laughed when I said how hard it would be for me. Guess that would get me a few months at home ha ha.What saddens me most is my friend who has just let him do this. Wish I hadn’t read the rotten thing as now my insomnia has gone into over drive as I am cross.
Will think of an evil plan of revenge tonight! Any ideas?
Lily x
hi everyone
slow start to morning, for a change. My hubby is at work today, relief. when hes off he just will not settle in the house. sometimes im a little tired chasing him around. but he was so upset when i said i wasnt particularly bothered about going out i gave in. Bit in some ways hes good for me, because the last few weeks i would have just done nothing, i tell him hes like a personal trainer.
started drinking green tea from yesterday, its actually quiete nice well the one with lemon in anyway, and certainly brings your wind up.
lily 2000
you certainly have some wonderful workmates, who really take care of you. just keep giving the offenders a sweet smile, and pretend there the nicest thing since sliced bread, after all were all better if we feel loved.(not so easy, i know) i ought to practice what i preach with my eldest. who drives me potty at times. he has had so many problems caused through his drinking in the past, thats how he ended up back with us, but of course he has it under control.
so in the scale of things your son sounds a saint! i love to hear of the young ones making the most of their lives. my youngest whos 14, has been dating a girl for a year, what do you say to him on that one. havnt used the calorie book yet, only to look at anyway.
can you remember the cereals Lucky Charms, they had marshmallow shapes in. i used to buy them for my kids when they were little, for a few quid. i looked in selfridges yesterday and there 7 pound something, how can that happen?
peacock,
its so nice to treat ourselves isnt it, i still havnt brought coat, cos i cant find one that suits, a lot of them are double breasted, and i look even more frumpy in them.
lisaf
hope datings going well
nicky
hope you ok
well housework isnt getting done like this, so im signing off for now.take care all x
Hi all Sorry I havnt been on here for ages! Got so much to catch up on havnt I? Will read through all your posts over the next few days I promise.
I hope you are all keeping well, Im fine, been doing a new job at work, the hours are exhausting at the moment, Im so tired but will tell you about it later.
Take care all Love Ang xx
Hi,
up late as had a mountain of books to mark and can now go to bed happy they are done. Gave me another job chasing people for homework though. Same naughty class. Good news or divine intervention, the change was turned down by higher authorities and so the boy from . is no longer heading my way ha ha!
Sorry Lorraine I am not good enough to smile at bullies. I sit and think of nasty things I could do to them instead - quite often involving tender parts of the body :)! My other therapy is having my stereo in my car really loud and singing very loudly and very badly lol. Anyway good for you if you can manage it. Enjoy a little peace while he is working.
Nicky how did you get on today? Hope all ok and done.
Lisa guess you are busy with John. Is Edward there too ha ha !
Hi soulgirl no problem, drop in when you can
Lily x
ha ha, no Edward here. Lily sounds like you have your hands full at school. Well cold here and Im very jeleous that you all have some xmas shopping done. Im off to Liverpool on Saturday day time for a bit of xmas shopping with work and mates.
Well John been again, growing on me, bit awkward (not used to sober dating), still no cancer talk so not sure how to broach, coming back on Friday, had a good night kiss, well uncomfie lunge type thing, he was sweet but all i could think about was what if he can feel that i havent got two boobs when put arm round me but he’s like me, likes a bevvie, being a bit cruel, mates that set us up, kept them totally in the dark, met him at pics and been through to mine twice and coming back on Friday, mate thinks shes setting us up for blind date next saturday and that we have just been texting - gonna act like dont know each other for a couple of hours. heee hheee pay back time
Well night all, having a wine treat as lost 10lb now, yippppeeee xxx
Hi
Well, the deed is done, tooth out! Now I just have to keep my fingers crossed that complications (due to the bisphosphonates) don’t set in - that’s what I’ve been really worried about. Mind you these dentists do relish their jobs - he went at it with justo. No pain (at the time) but just the horrible noises - sorry if you’ve just eaten when you read this! It turns out the tooth had caused an abscess as well, hence the pain. Not too sore this morning but a bit bruised from the sheer pressure he put on my jaw - at least it kept me quiet yesterday evening LOL. Thanks for all the good luck.
Lily - glad the bad boy is not joining you - I can just see you sorting out little (or big?) punishments, hopefully you can sleep a bit better now not worrying about him.
Lorraine - hope you are OK and not spending all your time looking after the men in your life! Maybe they can look after you a bit? The weather is so awful, dull and damp maybe you should get out and about on one of your little trips? Certainly housework should come low on your list - as long as it’s not annoying you rather than anyone else.
Lisa - you go girl - sounds as if this ‘blind’ dating lark isn’t too bad! Great that you are getting on and without the booze helping Tricky bit is still to come I guess - boobwise - so I hope that you can talk about it and that his reaction is what we all want. Keep us updated. Love the idea of pretending on Saturday that you’ve never met!
Hi soulgirl, hope you’ve been OK and off here just because you’re busy.
Hi to Peacock, Bev and anyone else reading or writing on here - hope you are all doing well.
Bye for now
Nicky x
