hi all, cant stop for catch up still manically wrapping (with wine of course), will catch up tomorrow but Lorraine just wanted to wish you good luck for tomorrow xxx
Hi,
me too good luck Lorraine, particularly with trying to get your backside into gear at that terrible hour. No doubt even earlier to allow for the snowy drive. I have not had an mri, is it a vein thing? That was and probably will always be my biggest and first question before anything. I know they are very noisy.Someone mentioned something about your kidney when you first went in. Has that come back as ok? Love your chappies all getting into action for you and your youngest sounds a dear little soul. He will be what sees you through this next lot of chemo, I know. You can do that for him. Even your Victor is coming up roses and eldest son, nothing like a crisis for bringing out the best in people. So donât you worry about resting,it will give your body more energy to build itself up to fight things.I remember our lovely Angie trying to get us to eat mushrooms for our immune system. All the best for tomorrow x.
Well I am glad my story about my uncle gave a few people a giggle or smile. I have to work out a diplomatic way of finding out what he plans to wear to EDâs wedding as he turned up to my brotherâs in a very old bright red fleece jumper and no shirt or tie. I keep telling him itis a posh do so he better make sure his suit fits. He is lovely but so eccentric at times and couldnât care less about it.
Lisa the fry thing sounds good, must look at them in the shop.Well you sound like you are going to have a yummy time and hope Robson got something good under the tree. Well maybe not under as if he is like mine he will unwrap and eat any edible pressies. Max managed to get my sonâs advent calendar off a high shelf last week and opened every door and ate the contents! How does he know these things are there through shut doors? Ok shall we do a diet together in the new year then? oooh that is the brother you are talking about then!! I think you should either ignore him or jump him - see what you fancy at the time ha ha Hmm popcorn sounds more appealing lol.
Hi scottishlass loved your fab presents. Just makes you wonder what the heck they are thinking about doesnât it? Decoy ducks - no idea? By the way I have seen you posting a lot on the secondaries section, how are you doing yourself? Are you having treatment at the moment? I know what you mean about the pavements I am walking like I am wearing a kimono! Be careful I saw lots of broken wrists and fingers in the doctors today. Bev hoor ay that it is off but poo that it is not as normal as you were hoping but it will improve every day. If not too expensive could you book to see aphysio just once privately to get some exercises to be doing? My Victor saw one about his back and only went once. I think it was about ÂŁ35 for an hour so not too bad. Nicky glad you pulled rank and got your oil. Quite right Lorraine is so fab still thinking of all of us. Are you off until the new year now? Sounds like it would be hard to get into work if you needed to. I was at the docs tonight with my son and we got flagged down by a motorist coming out who warned us not to go in the car park. He had a 4x4 and had got stuck. My friend was in there and had skidded and hit someoneâs car before getting stuck. Well she pretended she had nearly hit it as everyone in the waiting room was earwigging but I met her hubby on the way out. He had come to rescue her and said she had hit it!As we went out a huge pick up truck went in and got stuck and just skidded down the slope and crashed into whatever was behind it - hopefully not my friendâs car! Son was driving and I was quite terriffied being in a small old car. Doc has advised me not to have the second swine flu jab after a member of his staff had the one in a million reaction and has been hospitalised. he said I canât tell you it is safe so donât have it. Suits me!
Peacock I keep picturing your turkey being squashed to get into the oven turning into my uncle into the back of my car ha ha! I have a hard top model as I need the little back bench seat for little chap. He really prefers sitting in the front but at least I can get him and his Mummy in if I need to take both of them somewhere. You would be amazed how many people I have squashed in there. It is slightly better than walking long distances!!It is lovely to drive. I think I may say he got their pressie in B & Q then, that should worry them! Thank you for reminding this peabrain about your plans. So bad as I spend hours moaning at people for not listening to me at school!!Your trip sounds lovely, which panto?
Julia if you look in Happy Christmas and how are you doing? Anyone else drifting by, hope things are ok with you and that you can forget it all for long enough to enjoy Christmas. Last Christmas I was going to rads so quite a drive every day up until new yearâs eve. Lorraine big hugs
Lily x
Well everyone seems in good spirits and sure demented at the moment. Got one of my pressies, new boob but not the massage one im eventually wrapped up and a bit emotional, went to friends and so nice seeing family all excited, this year my brother and wife and 2 kids have decided to have theirs alone so just me mam and dad, but love the food more but it should be a time for kids, so will go up in the morning to play with them and give pressies but much more fun playng with kids games all day eh. not going to friends at night as i think its a time for family so ill be cuddled up on sofa watching corrie. I am really luckly and although bit sad being on own im still here and eternally grateful for that.
Dad had a barnie at the chemist as no new sleeve, it was them that ordered the wrong one and promised in today but no, and no idea when and tried to blame it on doctors, not realising i was at the docs when they phone it in - ouchhh, rather of daddy dearest aint nice.
Anyhow, hope everyone has a nice day tomorrow and i will be certainly raising a glass to angie and to all you lovely ladies for all your support, giggles, telling offâs and everything throughout the last almost 2 years dont know what I would have done without you.
merry christmas and hereâs to many more for all of us xxx
Hi everyone,
just dashed in between wrapping their sacks as my back is aching from leaning over. I really was going to cut down this year but when it comes to it just want them all to be really excited with their pressies even if they are nearly all grown up. Just got little chaps left to do and will enjoy that and not notice my aching back. They all came in today and I was rather chuffed that all of them still want to just spend time with us and hang out. ED is a real Mummyâs girl and got a half day so she could come and sit at ours. Sent Victor and son out for an all day breakfast at their favourite cafe and ED and I watched the snowman and played with little chap. He is absolutely beside himself with excitement and any news anyone can give him about Santa. Son showed him the website that tells you where Santa is at present and you see him getting nearer to England, so he had to keep dashing to check if it was getting near to us. I donât like their chances of getting him off to sleep early. MD was out enjoying a bit of free time with her new partner. Fingers crossed that will work out as he is fab, particularly with little chap. YD ran in between dog customers to collect the presents we bought for her to give, as she never has time for shopping. She is minding a very fat hamster at the moment and her dogs are glued to the door of the room it is in, so she was off to buy a lock for the door in case they got in and ate it! Victor noticed how large my pile of presents for him were and has been doing some hasty extra shopping -hooray!
Well thats my day and so back to wrapping. Lisa I thought what you wrote was lovely and I will raise my glass to all of you too. I would not have got through all of this and certainly not giggled as much as I did through a big pile of poo treatment. Will think of our Angie and her family as it will be tough for them. Lisa have a lovely time with your Mum and Dad fussing you. I know it will do the power of good for them to have you round there. Nicky have a lovely snowy few days with your girls and hubby and best wishes for the new year x. Bev merry Christmas to you and hope you are getting more mobile. Julia best wishes for a happy Christmas and hoping you are ok and having fun.Scottishlass hope you have some nice time with your family too. Peacock happy Christmas and get stuffing that turkey in the oven. Anyone else who is mad enough to subject themselves to reading my trials and tribulations I wish you a very Happy Christmas too. Lorraine buddy biggest hugs that although you have a tough time coming up it will be successful in kicking c back to where it belongs. Hope you are able to enjoy some lovely peaceful days with everyone else doing everything. Sit back and enjoy x
Happy Christmas buddies and hoping 2010 will be a kind year for all of us.
Cyber hugs

Hi Ladies
I hope you all had a fab Christmas Day and looking forward to the next few days with family and friends. All of you have been so lovely throughout this dreadful time we have had to deal with, and are still dealing with, so I can only add to all your special words and say Thank You. I hope you were all spoilt rotten by you and yours - I certainly was As Lisa says - a time for family and appreciating what we all have and also sparing some thoughts for others who are not longer here like our little Angel.
Our snow is gradually melting, a bit treacherous to walk on as it still manages to freeze overnight, but it was very pretty yesterday - a White Christmas. Believe it or not we are within a mile of Basingstoke town centre but in a village and our lane is very rural - so weâve not been cut off at all just having to deal with an ungritted road (in answer to the concerns earlier this week) .Weâre off for a long walk with friends today and then back home for all the goodies we didnât eat yesterday. Bliss!
Happy Festivities
Nicky xx
Hi,
fab to hear you are all being spoilt and enjoying some nice days. Yeterday was one mad food and pressie fest from start to finish and you could not see the carpet for piles of pressies. I have slippers, cardigans, jewellery, chocolates, etc for every day of the week. A few interesting ones a voucher for health/beauty/relaxing treatments from my youngest brother and a flip video/camcorder from Victor. Amazing hand held gadgets that record. It is HD so very good picture and you just plug it in a usb port and watch it, even came pre-charged to use that day. If you want to treat yourself go get one, great fun.
Well I had a bit of a disaster yesterday as my cooker decided to blow up. We had 11 for lunch and 5 visitors for the morning so chaos. Turkey was cooked but the veg not even started, just in saucepans ready to go. Turned the rings on and bang. Victor and YDâs partner then spent 5 minutes testing things and worked out that I could have the oven and 2 tiny rings. Better than nothing I suppose but I had 4 saucepans to cook. We ended up with a gas campus stove which someone had given us and that saved the day. Little chap thought the flames were really exciting so we had to watch him like a hawk. So we need to go and buy a new cooker tomorrow and I am on the gas rings today again and hoping the gas does not run out!!! Never liked that cooker!!
Lorraine nothing like a crisis to bring the best out in people although I would have far rather heard you were bouncing and angry for getting no help. Let them give some back for a change and enjoy the telly and sherry. Nicky I am sure you have some busy days lined up and maybe nip in to the sales. Glad to hear you were not too badly affected.

hi there
still being lazy, my tummy is aching too. but im really enjoying the turkey, everytime i go in kitchen i have a nibble.
evidently my body is losing protein with the drain so, its as if your body knows what it needs.
lily
i cannot believe your luck sometime! i have one of those metal steamers you use on the rings, shame you didnt have one, i always cook all my veg on one ring. and its better for you steamed, says shes whos so healthy!
keep enjoying the festive season, poor old sally on corrie, and what a git kevins turning out to be.
HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE
Sorry my message is a bit late, but I really hope you all had a wonderful time with your families, friends and whoever at this time. It is what Christmas is all about, I canât help thinking about some of âourâ ladies we have lost this year and their families.
Well Iâm pleased to say our 28 lb turkey fitted ok into the oven, weâve only managed to eat a quarter of it so the rest will be frozen and will make some delicious meals in the new year.
We had a quiet Christmas Day, and then some friends turned up in the evening and we spent the evening on Wi Fit, playing bowling, boxing and ski jumping. Itâs great for exercise and Iâm sorry to say I am not fit enough to keep up with it.
Tomorrow is off to the ferry and then a week in Hampshire with ED, young grandaughter and son and any friends I manage to meet up with if there is time. Off to see Snow White in Panto, Marlene from Only Fools & horses is the only famous celebrity I know.
As I wonât be able to get on line for the next week I just want to wish you all a very happy new year, with lots of health, wealth and happiness along the way to us all.
Take care ladies, and special hugs for Lorraine - hope the discomfort eases quickly.
HAPPY NEW YEAR and will be back on 01 Jan 2010.

Hi Peacock, Just to wish you a safe journey and to tell you to have a fabby time back in the UK. I am pleased the turkey made it into the ovenâŠspeak to you when you get back, much love Val X
Hi,
hope you all had a nice few days. Lorraine the turkey sounds like a good thing to build yourself as once you start chemo your immune system will take a hit. Good to get it as high as possible beforehand. I think Angie used to tell us all to eat manuka honey and mushrooms - not necessarily together though :). I always ate tons of eggs and meat and mine was never a problem. When do you hear what their plan is? Did you have FEC last time, if so I would expect them to go for one of the taxanes. Sorry I just had a thought you might prefer to put it all out of your mind for as long as possible, so tell us when you feel like it. I am off to the sales to look at cookers tomorrow, perhaps I should be looking for a steamer too.
Peacock have a fab time and see you next year Val how was your Christmas?
Well managed to feed the hord with limited cooker power and hope I can get another before my long line of guets appear next week. If not it will be a very healthy salad start to the new year. Donât you think 2010 sounds like something space age and into the future? Not sure I am going to be writing the correct year on the board. I have a hospital appointment on Tuesday with the surgical team so at least no blood this time. Then I have the oncology team in January with hundreds of blood tests (well maybe not hundreds lol) Then it will be coming round to annual mammos again, fab a medical start to the year Have fun this week and Lorraine keep munching that turkey

Hi all,
and glad to hear you have all had a good christmas! with particular thoughts to you Lorraine keep eating that turkey and donât forget the magic chicken stock soup I really think that helped me so much maybe you could get a friend to make you up some and then you can freeze it. Thinking of you and you rest as much as possible.
Lily what a disaster on christmas day of all things we had a similar experience a few years ago but it was boxing day and we ended up cooking a salmon on the BBQ (different!) it is amazing how we find a way around problems thank goodness shows what resolve we all have really even if we think we havenât. Glad you had such lovely pressies. I did well with jewellery and perfume chocs and a theatre trip to see Oliver which I am looking forward to. Lily good suggestion regarding the physio I think I will try to get a private appiontment this coming week.
Peacock have a lovely new year sounds as if it will be a busy one and I am very impressed you managed to cook that enormous turkey! We just had a pheasant fly into our patio doors the noise it made was horrendous and the poor thing is out there walking around in circles with a dazed look on its face!
Nicky good to hear you are enjoying your family christmas and hope you enjoy your walk I am sooo jealous I canât wait to go for a lovely walk when my silly ankle will allow it.
Lisa hope you are enjoying your christmas and having fun with family and friends keep up the good spirits! and as you say arenât we lucky to be here and be able to support each other and learn from one another. A big thank you to all my cyber buddies!
love Bev xx
Hi,
well Bev I did suggest Victor could go outside and barbecue with his coat and scarf and gloves on, but he declined my offer! We bought a new cooker yesterday, which arrives on Wednesday. We discovered that the kitchen fitters had built the kitchen around our old cooker and that it was a small one. So now we cannot buy a 60cm one unless we destroy one side of the worktops and move it all along - much too much work. I had a better idea a new kitchen and an extension Victorâs head is in hands as my imagination goes into overdrive about how I could have it! I think that one will be on long term planning.Very long! Well my visitor arrived yesterday with great tales about his month in China and train trip through Mongolia, Russia and many more countries before winging his way to us. He says he has no idea what he has been eating as they wonât tell you what the food is in China but he has a nasty idea what it could have been. Anyway I am sure it makes the âfinish up the turkeyâ meals much more interesting to eat. So far roast turkey, cold turkey, turkey sandwiches and turkey casserole. Anyone got any other ideas (I donât like curry so nothing hot).
Bev how are you getting on now? Hope your ankle is gradually starting to improve. Lorraine hugs matey how are you doing? When do you go to see the doc or onc again to find out what is next? I am hoping they will have worked out a good plan for you. I think in a way although you donât want to have chemo, it will help in some way because you are physically doing something to stop it from spreading further and everything crossed for stability or even better shrinkage for you.
Nicky and Lisa hi are you ready for the next ton of snow they are forecasting? I am fed up with it already. Little chapâs snowman has melted to a blob of ice so we have told him it went back to the North Pole with Father Christmas. He was suitably impressed and happier.

hi all, finally recovering from a mamoth food and drink session, eugh, god help me when i see the plastic surgeon on 5th january, might be offering a whole body tuck!!
Sounds like everyone has been having a good time with or without a few dramas.
had a lovely xmas day , got my mam and dad merrily drunk on champers and then we got invited back up to brothers at night, well, i know how to get fit now, high school musical on wii, sweated buckets trying to beat brother dancing like a loony!!! Out with friends on boxing night, again last night and both times i was sober(ish), get me, i was the sensible one putting people in taxiâs⊠last night was bit strange, avoided some people i hadnt seen for years until late on then luckily friend was so drunk she kept them amused. i hadnt seen grahamâs mates for ages as most live away but they and their girlfriends were up for the night, very wierd as they were his mates so got to know them quite well but i actually knew them before he did as went to school with most of them from the age of 7 but seen none since the cancer stuff so all a bit awkward.
Anyhow sounds like everyone having fun, havent hit the sales at all like some of you⊠but hoping to chill and sort house out for rest of week before maybe going to my friends for nye party but not sure as their brother will be their, used to hate nye but now i justwant to raise a glass to a hopefully better year.
hope everyone having a lovely time with their nearest and dearest and lorraine, hope you get a plan soon for chemo, albeit know how scary it is when actually know whats to come, as lily said Manuka honey, god makes me heave even thinking about it and made me puke more than chemo but the one with ufm in it tastes rank but might be old tale but i never got a cold, low bloods (apart from first when hadnt taken it) or anything so maybe it works, i know that they use it for all sorts brother just had ingrown hair removed and left wound open and pack it with the honey!
Well better go, just want to say hereâs to a hopeful better 2010 for ALL of us and that treatment progresses all the time to help towards finding a cure xx
Love to all xx
Hi ladies hope you are all getting over the turkey mountain, Lily sounds like sheâs making good progress and Peacock has planned ahead for months of turkey meals;-) I love turkey so always buy a much bigger one than just for the Day. Weâve frozen some and will do the good old turkey curry in a day or 2 - yum! Lorraine - sounds like your body is telling you what you need - at least nibbling turkey is good for you but allow yourself a cream cake or 2 if you need it Iâm sure that will be as good for you (Not). Hope you are comfortable and still being looked after well by your men. As Lily says I wonât pry or make you think about things you donât want to at the moment but let us know when everythingâs planned so we can step up a gear on the support side - big hugs and keep well.
Lily - what a disaster with the cooker! How did we all know that Victor would find a way round it? We would have been in a similar position - I always cook the turkey on Chr eve so I donât have the hassle on Chr Day so we could have had turkey salad I suppose! Because we cook on electricity - not having gas in our little lane (hence the oil problems for heating) I bought a one ring calor gas camping stove a year or 2 ago just so we could heat water/beans/soup etc if we has a power cut so I think we could have managed veg as well but no Jamieâs Best Ever Roasted Potatoes which we great.
Have not hit the sales yet but need to order a cooker hood to replace ours that literally blew up ages ago and canât be fixed. So online for me today to beat the VAT increase on 1/1/10 (yes, Iâm married to an accountant!) ED is back at work on the Benefit counter (makeup) which was hectic yesterday - where does everyoneâs money come from? YD is also working a bit at the local pub to fund her time at home. Both got quite a few vouchers for clothes etc so want to hit the shops at some point soon.
Lisa - sounds like youâve had a good time but also a bit of an awkward one as well. Iâm sure all your good mates know how to help you through.
Bev - hope the ankle is gaining strength but sounds like you wonât be dancing the night away on NYE - just have to sit down and be waited on then!
We have a quiet few days before going out with friends on NYE. We had a terrible time last year with rubbish food and no entertainment so we have booked ourselves into a local restaurant for their NYE bash and can go next door to the pub where they have a disco on if we want to. All within walking distance as well so not having to rely on taxis either.
Have fun everyone, look after yourselves and a Happy New Year if Iâm not on here before (but I expect I will be)
Nicky x
hi buddies,
i have just dragged myself out of bed, its so hard at the moment, im just absolutely exhausted and dont know how im going to get through sitting up the hosp tommorow, but at least my appointment is 9.30, and maybe it will help when i know whats happening. my drain is leaking at the moment, but trying to wait for tommorow to get it sorted, district nurses coming in to change dressings
.
men in my life are still doing the housework, but boy is it causing tension, and arguments which makes me feel id rather live in a pig sty. i think i will have to try and get someone in.
glad your all enjoying sales, ive give it a miss this year. not been able to spend anything for weeks now, will be having withdrawel symptoms
lily
how about puttting the turkey in a white sauce with mushrooms or leeks and making a lovely pie, with a puff pastry lid.
my mouths watering thinking about it, and thats a first for a long time!
enjoy new year everyone x
Good luck for tomorrow Lorraine xxx
From a stuffed turkey, or thatâs how i feel today overindulged on food and drink!!! Hope everyon enjoys the rest of their week
xx
Hi,
boy Lorraine that sounded nice. I do like a nice white sauce and loving the pastry bit :)Now we need someone to make one for you. I am sorry to hear you have so little energy and wonder whether it is your blood counts going silly and not enough red blood cellls for oxygen and energy. Who will go with you to the hospital? Perhaps they can find a wheelchair if it is a long walk within the building? I amigine it is very scarey going to hear what they have to say but i hope it will also give you some reassurance when they give you a plan of action. I wish I could show you how well my friend looked and felt after even the first dose of her latest chemo compared to how she was before she started it. Donât know what to suggest but getting help if you can manage it sounds a good idea. Perhaps it will be better when one goes back to school. Lots of luck, everything crossed for you x.
Hi everyone else and will write more tomorrow or maybe later today but need to hit the sack
Love
Lily x
Good Luck this morning Lorraine. I hope they come up with a very do-able plan and you start getting your energy back. We expect grim warnings for the shops sales figures where you are if youâre not out and about soon Take care and hope you are feeling better soon, will be thinking of you all day.
Hi everyone else - not much going on here, OH back to work for 1 day today but luckily the office is only 10 mins drive away. Very dull and dark here with drizzle and lights on in the house at 9am! Will just potter around today. OMG the rest of my oil delivery has just turned up! I was getting a bit worried again as what they had delivered as an emergency wasnât going to last us that long, and I thought they may have forgotten the rest. At least we should be able to have a warm January now!
Take care all, especially Lorraine, sp soon - New Year not far away now!
Nicky xx
Hi all
Hope you all had a lovely christmas
I seem to always have doom and gloom when I come on here but feel I can share things with you. Unfortunately my Dad died on Boxing day so as you can imagine its not a good time for us.Was realy looking forward to it cos I was here to celebrate it.
A bit of good and bad news tho, I have met a lovely man and things seem to be going well, but his Mum died just before christmas so we are helping each other through this sad time.
Will come back soon Take care all of you xx
