Having had a shower today, I wondered what deodorant is it safe to use after mastectomy with total lymph node clearance, if any? It is early days for me as I only had my surgery a week ago, and I am still in a lot of pain and discomfort, but my BC nurse just told me not to worry. I do worry and I don’t want to use something that would cause further damage.
Thankyou. X
Green People, although not cheap, only use natural ingredients. I use Fussy (I’ve had a lymph node clearance) and like it; it’s subscription based but the subscription is flexible and it’s refillable so also more environmentally friendly. There’s also apps you can use to check ingredients for potential toxicity, the one that springs to mind is Think Dirty. Hope this helps

Thanks Lisa. Will definitely look at this. X
Can I also ask how soon after surgery did you start using this?
Hi
I was told not to use deodrant for the first couple of weeks after my surgery and clearance, just wet wipes, then to only use non perfumed ones.
I now you the plain akt which is subscription to but works very well
Xx
It’s hard to remember, but probably a couple of weeks x
Hi sue9
To be honest I wouldn’t bother using anything until everything has healed. I used a natural roll on I received in the little lifts parcel I ordered. I tend to use that all the time now. The only time I use a spray is when I’ve got a tighter fitting long sleeved blouse and I now have hot flushes.
This doesn’t contain any aluminium.
Also the little lifts box is a lovely treat so you can order one for yourself
Hope that helps!
Take care

Thankyou. X
I used sanex zero but have found I don’t actually sweat from the armpit with node clearance now. Not sure if because of this or the radiation though
Hi Sue
Was told not to use any deodorant for a few weeks , and only little dab with flannel under arm , I put deodorant on under other arm only because I liked the smell so don’t worry for a while x
I was told not to use deo containing aluminium. So I use Sanex.
Thankyou. X
Just gone and done this, Thankyou. Silly thing to worry about. X

I was told to wait at least 2 weeks and to just wipe with wet wipes containing no perfumes. I use moo goo deodorant with no aluminium.xx
Tropic do a wonderful, plant based deodorant cream.
I love ut.
Hi, I made my own deodorant and have used it successfully ever since. The recipe is;
Deodorant
• 1/2 cup of coconut oil
• 3/4 cup of baking soda
• OPTIONAL: 10+ drops of any essential oil like tea tree or lavender
Melt the coconut oil and mix with the baking soda. Add essential oil and leave to set. I keep it in a small jar. Hope that helps.
Thankyou that sounds lovely
