Not been in for a while but enjoying the better weather and the days are getting longer at last. Got really excited last weekend cos I got all the washing dry outside - how sad is that!!!
Think I will stick to the orange juice tonight as busy busy tomorrow, what am I talking about its Friday I’ll have a drop of the black stuff I think.
Hi Everybody -
Here it is Sunday afternoon and its been a nice slow one too. Hope you are all well. All my plans are coming true for the Lakes – got a B&B for the weekend, another in Oxford and have one more to secure before the trip is done! I may not be a shadow of myself by the time I see you all, but guess that will have to do…
Yes, work is fine. Busy and traveling more which is nice - let’s face it it’s just nice to be out and busy again after all that solitary we did!
OH and I are going to see Fleetwood Mac tonight in concert – celebrating our 9th wedding anniversary so should be fun…
Hey, I know it’s a case of long time no hear but just wanted to drop in for old times sake and wish you all fantastic health. I recognise a few names still from those that got me through a very tricky time last year, esp Emily, Jen etc. Debsincornwall, i see you are in Carbis Bay, I"ve just moved to Carbis recently, what a beautiful place, I love been so near the sea! I promised myself last year whilst going through treatment that I’d live by the sea one day, even if it’s only for six months or so. Feeling so much better too, thanks to a really strict herbal regime and healthy living! Really hope you’re all doing good, what a journey eh! Lots of love to you, Carrie xx
Hi everyone,
belated happy anniversary Emily. I need reminding of the dates for the Lakes if treatment does not interfere I will bust a gut to meet up with you all. Had an American film crew here a couple of weeks ago not sure if it was the right thing to do but I told my story and it is being shown on CNN and Fox it’s a guy called Rick Scott he was very nice in fact he invited my daughter to visit while she is in Florida said he would take her in his boat up the Everglades.
Carrie I live near Cost Cutter the house with the for sale board, op the park. I don’t do mornings but feel free to pop in any afternoon.
Well I have given the pub a good clean and taken the Christmas tree out, seems to me the old regulars have moved on. It is just so hard pushing the chair all the way home maybe bring the dogs to pull it.
Just thought I would say Hi to everyone as I am not on the website very often these days!
So I raise a hearty glass of something livening to all you lovely ladies out there,
May those who
Love us, love us.
And those that
Don’t love us
May God turn
Their hearts;
And if he doesn’t
Turn their hearts
May he turn
Their ankles.
I think it is a good sign that we are not needing to come here so often but it’s grand to touch base with folk too.
been having a wee clear out - i finally decided it is possible to have too many books… so I am getting rid of one 3 by 2 box (jolly heavy today) today and that is only the beginning!! Plus I have finally found a home for all JBs CDs (no not the bin!!) - well after 6 months it looks like he is stopping for a bit!!
I never could do minimalist… but i think the amount of moss i have gathered is ludicrous!
Really miss this thread, I hope all the “locals” have finished their treatments and moved on, but it would be great to hear how everyone is. Did you all have a good time in the Lakes?
Gosh I was wandering past and saw the lights were on.
The old place is still standing and full of memories. We had a blast in the Lakes, Jen, Westie, Whitedragon, Weetricia, EJ etc etc. It was brilliant and those that can are doing the same next year.
I only come onto the forums occasionally to see how people are getting on, its great to see people doing well but still so much sad news.
I have entered the CRUK 10k run at Sandringham at the end of September, thought it would be a good personal challenge and always want to give something back for my return to good health, the cure is out there somewhere we just have to keep working.
Anyway will have a swift half while I’m here and look through the photo album of some of our crazy nights in the DDI.
I suppose you could say I’ve moved away, and this is no longer my local - but I’ll be happy to pop in for a black beard whenever I’m passing if I’m welcome.
Somebody has done a good job of keeping this place tidy - is anybody here on steroids?
Missing the pancakes, waffles and croissants at breakfast time - and the craic.
Lakes was great. Same time next year!
I’ll pop by again when I’m passing - take care everybody…x
Hi toronto - u will find us on facebook - i am jen randell (rugby) on there - profile pic shows the shiny white hair post chemo - will be able to point you at others from there.
Well, well…no one is stepping up to continue the management of this thread…so be it!
As the saying goes, it was the best of time, it was the worst of times…inward hell and outward frivolity! Many of us are coping well, back to work, back to life, ever grateful that we can do this. Others of us are having a horrible time, and for them we are in pain.
Out of this simple local, came solid friendships and a loyalty fierce in nature.
Well, DDI or not it is Christmas time!
Emily goes into the storeroom and pulls out the live Christmas tree, strands of lights, very fine tinsel, and our loads of ornaments. Let;s see what do we have here…cat ornaments (Jen), airplanes and high-heel sneakers (AJ), scuns wrapped in clotted cream (westie), star trek transponders (whitedragon)…and an assortment of miniature muffin tins (mine)… zip, whop…tussle tussle…there the tree is done and looking quite lovely…
EJ puts on a pot of mulled cider, starts the CD playing carols and bright music…rolls a pan of blueberry muffins in the oven for the next person to take out…
Haven’t been in for a while.good to see EJ is keeping the place tidy and has done the Christmas decorations.Where’s my wee robin? I’m sure I left it here last year on the tree. Then again,chemo-brain was setting in,maybe I forgot to get it out of the box.
Mulled wine…mmmm…
I’d better go shopping and get a few pressies for under the tree.I’ll switch off the lights in five minutes when I’ve had a nosy around.

Haven’t actually visited before, but liked the look of the place. Sorry, but drank the mulled cider, put on another Christmas CD, loved the tree, and the muffins were delicious!
I put as some pressies under the tree, mostly unhealthy – chocolates and wine.
I found a robin in a box in the ladies loo, was quite happy to be released from his box, looks quite perky!
Would love to drop in again when I am passing. Switched off the lights again.
Love to all and Happy Christmas

Well its been ages since I was in here - the last time most of us ladies had a drink together was in the YHA at Ambleside. Remember those bunk beds? - happy memories.
Done a good job EJ - well better not break with tradition - hot chocolate please and i’ll see who comes along…
My first visit and to celebrate the end of the week I’ll have a large gin and tonic and raise my glass to wish you all a very Happy Christmas and especially to Absent Friends. Will pop back in when I get back from my skiing holiday.
