Sorry to have such a disgusting header.
I am taking some of my own advise here. No question to silly or too personal I say to newcomers to the site.
I have such a silly problem I don’t want to both my GP or BC nurse.
I have just finished Tax chemo and will continue with Herceptin introduced two treatment ago. For about three weeks I had an embarrassing condition. My nose will suddenly drip fluid without any warning. I don’t feel it about to run it just drips like a tap at any given time including in meetings with some high ranking bosses in the council I work for, I am never quick enough with the tissues so people avert their eyes to save me embarrassment. I have no cold or flu symptoms temperature etc.
Has anyone else experienced this after treatment or whilst on Herceptin.
In the back of my mind I am being dramatic thinking the fluid surrounding my brain has become infected and has found a hole in the membrane cause by a secondary cancer so on and so on, you know how the story goes.
Thanks for you’re understanding on this quirk subject
Mine has dripped just like that through chemo. Am now on herceptin and it still does it. I thought it was ending until I got a cold a week ago - and here we go again! I had thought it was lack of nasal hair with chemo but may be not. I do empathise. Nasty isn’t it?
I don’t feel quite so daft asking this question now.
I suppose they don’t tell us about this because they don’t like to talk about such things even when we have been through everything we have!
I know just how you feel. I was put on Letrozole for a month in between surgery (Jan 07) and chemo (March 07). My nose started to run after a few days and it has continued to do so throughout chemo which ended in Aug 07. I am now halfway through Herceptin and taking Letrozole again and it is still running and dripping. In fact, I said to my daughter only a few moments ago that my nose has been running for 12 months now. I should have shares in Kleenex!!!
When I started Herceptin my onc told me that I would have a runny nose for a year !
In fact I already had a runny nose as a result of chemo and it’s never gone away. And - yes - sometimes I can’t quite catch it either ! Embarrassing isn’t it ?
Ha Ha
I have got that sudden flash flood nose as well. I got it when on chemo but it has got worse on Herceptin. I often have to leap up quickly and throw back my head while I search for a tissue.
It is embarassing but I also think it is so funny as well. It is even funnier knowing that other people have it and not just mell!!!
I’m on epirubican and once my nose hairs had fled…the waters started flowing! My ‘cancer buddy’ had warned me this would happen so I had a good stock of the very soft tissues in. The worst part is how sore my nose gets…aloevera cream is great though it doesn’t half nip when it goes on.
I treated myself to some pretty linen hankies…but it runs so much, the paper ones are the only practical thing to use…
and yikes - after my chemo+ rads Ive a years herceptin… seems like I’ll need to get shares in the soft tissue business …
its a whole new take on what we were told as bairns… ‘a lady always has a hanky in her pocket…’
My nose seem to run and constantly drip whilst on chemo and now also that i am on herceptin, along with what seems like full blown cold after the last 3 herceptins. Not sure if this is my side effect to herceptin, or just me being unhealthy and not really having got over my cold when on tax which ended with me being hospitalised. My onc has given me some antibiotics.
The nose thing is embarrasing though, as sometimes it does just drip suddenly, but thankfully I am normally at home.
I have just finished a year of Heceptin and had a runny, bloody, sore nose throughtout. I have now developed chronic sinusistis which I now realise must have been a build up. Bad headaches and congestion. Now on treatment which is working (was worried I had brain mets with the headaches). By the way the twiching is due to the tax, I had it loads.
Was it in the 1920’s there was a fashion for having floaty scarves tied round your wrists? This could be the solution for a quick always-at-the-ready hanky
Mine was very runny on taxotere had what my old dad called ‘silver sleeves’ On herceptin now and after the first two had a bloody, crusty nose. I have been fine with the latter ones. Now my eyes are constantly streaming, this started when on tax and it has continued throughout 11 herceptins. Love to all Eileen
i had my second herceptin on Monday and have not really had a runny nose but have had twitchy eyes, which is a bit annoying, also getting hot flushes has anyone else had the hot flushes
I had the Herceptin drip permanently with the first 4 cycles. It then tailed off so that it just affected me on the day of treatment and sometime the next day. Afterwards it went completely and I thought great, as I had to have hankies in every pocket. It came back with the last cycle, now I sneeze as well. Luckily I only have another 2 to go, finish April 2nd. I was at a meditation group tonight and one of the other ladies has done 10, she suffers from sore eyes like she’s got hay fever.
MIne dripped through most of my chemo, I think it must have something to do with losing the nasal hair - I was delighted to read it is a side effect of Herceptin, as I am due to start soon!! I shall have to stock up with tissues, at the moment every pocket is stuffed with them and until I get my prothesis I may have to shove them down my bra too.
Last night one of my toe nails dropped off (a delightful side effect of Taxotere) and I’m wondering what will be next to go!!
