Embarking on an adventure, you are welcome to tag along

Maria, so pleased to hear your news, I’m sure she wouldn’t have told you they were cysts if she wasn’t pretty sure.I will listen out for the singing! hope you’re chilling out tonight, with a glass of something nice, I’m on the Guiness at the mo.

Love & hugs

Maria that is such brill news how lovely of the Dr to come and let you know such a relief for you.I’m sure she wouldn’t have said anything if there was the slightest doubt.Hope you are able to rest well tonight. Hugs and love Jackie

Ohhh Maria Maria, I am so glad for you…huge smiles and let those hills be alive with the sound of Maria, who cares what it sounds like…celebration is a good sound.
Hugs Suze xx

Hello Maria,

So pleased for you about your results. The waiting must have been awful but am glad that your radiologist was considerate enough to let you know as soon as possible. Hope you sleep well tonight.

Jill

Jackie, the pic is of one of my OH’s paintings. it is a sort of industrial evening scene with the buildings at an angle-he calls this stuff his “quirky paintings” he used to do landscapes in oils and water colours, mainly boats.
Carolxx

Fantastic news Maria,
Think we would have all cried all the way home, how lovely they told you, thats what we need more Compassion!!
Sleep well my little friend, you must be emotionally exhausted!
Love and Hugs

sorry everyone, sorry maria, am thoughtlessly crashing in on your happy pasts to whine about the teaching assistant. That said, it has made my night reading your post earlier maria, really really pleased.

Well the teaching asistant fiasco. My 5 year old is extraordinarily clever, bright, insightful etc etc etc etc (as all mothers sons are of course)but he hates reading his kipper and biff and chip and floppy reading books that he brings home. They are mighty tedious to tell the truth. He loves doing his homework though, which is new this year. Big boys in year one get homework at weekend, not like “the little ones” in reception. So, as the teacher was busy, i asked the TA if they could put literacy and reading material as part of his homework as i could then keep his reading going and he could still be happy. She was v negative, apparently that have a lot of thingsa to do and therefore could i not just make him do it ( condescending smile in manner of, what kind of mum are you if you cant make your 5 year old read). I replied that things are a bit hard at home at the minute and i am not always able to force him to do stuff and we are managing to just get by. She again replys they have lots to do, it isnt feasible, make him do it. I well up with tears as am on the verge of tears all the time and takes the smallest thing to push me over, plus feel like bloody useless mum yet again. I mumble something like “oh thats fine, dont worry” , grab me 3 year old and try and get out across the classroom and back to my car so can cry in peace and privacy. But oh no, she then shouts my name over and over again across the classroom as i am rushing to escape, so mums and children are now looking, then as i am already out the door, she shouts me down the playground and says dont just walk away from me. Mums are looking, i have to go back, cant even remember what i said but just mumbled as wanted to escape.

So tears had gone past the flood defences and stayed that way all day and night, plus overspill to today.not as bad today, but again as i wasa doing the question of the day this morning with me son, she again asks for a word, i say it must be in private and she looks shocked and can virtually hear her thinking i am a silly cow. I didnt want to speak but she caught me on the way out of the door and said she had discussed it with his reception teacher, who is also head of infants and deputy head of the school, and will do an extra session reading with him in school.

More tears from me once back in my car.

******************************************************************************************************************************************

So not a huge drama, have many points i have made about it in my head, am peed off for crying in front of her.

Suze, think you may have a point about tamoxifen and crying, hormones etc, hadnt thought of it. Can tamoxifen make you weepier? omg if it does, 5 years of salty tears ahead!

Vickie

Hi Ladies, Well what an exhausting LGFB day, took ages getting home from London in our mini bus! but at least we were driven to our LGFB! then l dropped a friend off who lives 10 mins away and on the way back their was an accident and it took me an hour and ten mins to get home!
At the LGFB they had one of us as a model on how to use the creams, and l was the model for the make up. Must say l think l can put it on as good as they did! but she did a nice job on my eyebrows, showed me how to do three dots and then join the dots!! Its was a good laugh and a nice bunch of ladies. and a lovely bag to bring home.

Maria, Still got the surgeon on Wednesday, to sort out when to remove your ovaries, so Good Luck with that.

Isabelle, Hope you are almost ready and packed, don’t forget the passports!!

Suze, Yes l have eyebrows now! mind you under my fringe cant see them!! but l have them.

Heather, Might have guessed you would have a bike story, l also have a bike story.
I had a bike about 15 years ago, one day in the local paper there was a story about a young girl having her bike stolen so she couldn’t do her paper round, so l phoned the local papers up and said she could have my bike, and asked for her address. they wanted to do a story and a picture of me handing the bike over, but l said no, the following week she was in the paper with ‘my’ bike saying thank you!
And like you l would have got the bear in!! poor little bear!
My Mum lives in a two bedroom flat, within a retirement block, there is a warden living there. she is very safe and secure, which is what l wanted. Does all her own cooking, washing and ironing, my dil goes in and changes her bed each week, oh and she has a cleaner, not because she cant do it, because she always had a cleaner, when she lived in her bungalow in Norwich, and said she is now spoilt!

Anne, fancy leaving our Nell, never know who might have picked her up! You were very brave going to the LGFB after being so poorly over the weekend.

Carol, Never realised how many different bikes there were, when l was a kid a bike was a bike, now they want to know if l will be riding it on tarmac or grass or mountains, told them not ready to visit Maria just yet, so grass and tarmac. probably looking at the Raleigh Apollo, as long as it is in lilac l dont care!!

Wendy, Good to see you back, hope you are as well as you sound?
Yes had lots of fun at the LGFB afternoon.

Jackie, Still looking for someone who is older than me, Carol is a year and two days younger, and l think Maria is a couple of years younger, so l am hoping on Kris or Isabelle! how old are you girls. Of course as you say there is always Nell at 77, think the photo she has on her profile is her younger sister, or it would be if she had one, seem to remember her being an only child!
Fancy you pretending you need a sick note! get back to work! Lol

Lesley, Almost halfway through peachy, well done
Sounds like you had a good weekend, soon be able to dance all night again!
I am sure Saffronseed had a problem with her veins, perhaps she will come on and tell you about it!

Nell, Good luck with your onc and bloods this week, l see my onc the same day as l have my bloods! so you see your onc then have your bloods, or have l read that wrong?
So have we a photo of you in your boots an wearing a lace corset?
Reminded me of a friend l worked with she had a knee length pair of boots with those hooks on! one day she had a row with our boss and said she was walking out, she took so long putting her boots on as she was in such a temper and kept missing the hooks, l was on the floor laughing, in the meantime the boss walked out saying he didn’t know who was madder her or me! we still laugh about it now, and that was 36 years ago!

Vickie,
Not sure l like the teachers attitude, fancy calling out after you, she obviously knows your situation, a little bit of decorum would have been nice.
Think she deserves two slaps!!
Not sure the Tamoxifen are the reason you are tearful, do you not think the rollercoaster you have been on over the last few months has something to do with it? You were on a high last week and now on a low! just needs to even itself out a little, give it time!

Well l have my cleaner here at 9.30 so l had better get to bed or she will have to bring me tea in bed, as well as do the housework!!
Love and Hugs

Vickie,
sent you a PM XX

Hi Everyone, has you can see I am up and about again. I dont normally come on laptop through the night because it wakes me up even more. I just wanted to see if there was any news from Maria, and yes there is.
Maria, fantastic news, I am so pleased, I have been wondering all day how it was going. I am sure they wouldn’t have told you they were cysts if they wasn’t sure. I know if I had been you I would have cried all the way home and some more. I sobbed the day the letter came and told me my bone scan was ok. Maria onwards and upwards now, I bet you feel like your flying, and once more I am so happy for you.
Vickie, what an awful lady, fancy shouting you back. My daughter is head of year aswell has teaching a class and I know she still has time to speak to parents. I know she sometimes gets home really late because mums have been wanting to chat with her after school. I cant see what the problem was with them just saying to your son can he read his book at the weekend when he does his homework. They always do so much more for the teacher. Vickie you have had such a roller coaster ride these lasts few months you are bound to feel tearful. You have a young family to cope with aswell has all the stuff BC throws at you, and sometimes tears are the only way to ease the tensions. You have been doing really well these last few weeks so dont let the silly TA make you take a few steps back.
Sandra, what an hectic journey home, I bet all your make up had come off by the time you got home. I dont like people doing my make up, I have had it done a few times and I always end up finishing it off myself. I am the same when I have my hair done, I only go to the hairdressers if I need my hair cut, I come home and then style it myself. Your mum does marvelously well for her age.
Jackie, dont go back to work before your ready you dont want to take a few steps back. If I wasn’t retired I dont think I could manage to go back to work. I get really fed up when people tell me I look well, if you go to the effort to make yourself look better everyone thinks your ok. The thing is people dont realise whats going on when your at home alone, how tired we get, how BC is at the back of your mind all time. Any little pain or ache you think it’s come back, I know thats how I feel. So put your feet up Jackie and dont go back till your ready.
Well night night everyone, only another 4 hours before it starts to get light.
Take care,
Love Heather,
xxxxxxxxxxxxx

afternoon all…great news Maria that they are cysts …what a relief for you.I’d have cried all the way home too.

Hi all,
Have just read the last couple of pages so a quick couple of comments before I forget!!
Maria, wonderful news, am so pleased for you. x
Vickie, sorry to hear you had probs at school, I think with what you’ve been through it’s impossible not to get emotional. x
Sandra, sorry but I’m 49!! Will be 50 next Feb whilst prob still bald and without eyebrows :frowning:
Hi to everyone else, afraid I really haven’t got the energy or concentration to list you all but hoope all is going well.
I am absolutely, totally exhausted. Am meant to be having last tax on Mon but not sure if I’ll be up for it. Energy has just gone out the window, getting upstairs is a huge effort at the mo :frowning: Had a flu type illness last week, temperature didn’t go high enough to need to go to hospital but it’s really knocked me out. Also struggling to stay cheerful, am soooooooo sick of not feeling well :frowning:
Roll on end of treatment.
Hope you are all running round like spring chickens- Heather you can spin on your scooter!! Hope to join you all soon.
Gill xx

Hi everybody

Maria, so pleased for you; a huge relief and one more thing for you to put behind you; I cried too for you (happy ones) x

Vickie, Have pm’d you re your sons TA. Hope you’re feeling better by now.

Sandra Have you joined your dots today? Hope your visit to the onc went ok. Will have to search my photo archive and see what I can dig up, think my photo is due for a change anyway. Oldest one on here? not me I’m only 21… had a big birthday recently so I should know how old I am, oh but then that makes me 9 when I had my son, so guess I must be 40 then… yes that’s it! This peachy gets you confused doesn’t it!
Agree with you over Vickie’s TA only I think she needs at least three slaps and a detention!

Anne Hope you’re feeling better and stronger? My next one is next Monday and I’m already dreading it.

Gill we must have left school in 77? (I’m 50 really but don’t tell our dear old Sandra…). Hope the energy levels ‘up’ for your next TAX.

Isabelle Enjoy!!!

Jackie, don’t rush back to work; I feel really guilty being off, and worry about if I’ll still have one when I get back with others covering for me; too many worries on top of bc isn’t there!

Heather guess you have always been clumsy! You still knitting? My mum knits toys and baby clothes. She taught me to knit too but haven’t done any since I was pregnant.

Lesley, get that LGFB booked! You’ll enjoy it. We’re nearly half way there with our PM aren’t we? I go on TAX next. Who else is with us – is it Tracey? Hope it goes ok for you with the veins; mine have been ok so far, but don’t want to speak too soon….

Carol, like the paintings, does your OH do exhibitions?
Bikes – prefer the motorised ones that go Vrmm Vrmm, but I’ve still got my old pushbike from when I was 14 - almost seven years now (well 7 x 5 really…)LOL! I still ride it when I go out with my son, but not so much since the peachy and the rubbish summer we’ve had! Oh gosh I almost forgot, I had a red and yellow chopper bike when they first came out at the end of the sixties!

Saw my onc today, everything appears ok, liver scan at the end of peachy and tablets for redness on face (Anne saw it, good candidate for a rosy cheeked santa!). Was told it’s probably the steroids – teenage acne I think she said! Hmm feel 14 again…

Hi to all and everybody, have a good evening

Love Nell xx

I’m sure I could hear Maria yodelling and singing last night.Hope your appt was it to-day for ‘posh op’ went OK such a lot for you to deal with all in one week. Do you still have your son staying so at least you have some adult company?
Sandra well we 2 were the models at our LGFB days weren’t we? Not bad for our age eh? Lol. Did you get both sides of your face to match? What a long journey you had.I was sending another slap to Vicki’s TA and see Nell has sent one to. At this rate the 3 of us will be in Oldham Magistrates court for cyber GBH on the TA. I think Isabelle is a bit younger than me and I’m not sure about Kris. Age is just a number. I always thought I would celebrate the anniversary of my 59th on my 60th. But I was talking to my Onc that day about chemo and even he mentioned it being my birthday the next day so not a good reminder.Good luck with the bloods pre PM and of course for Fri.
Vicki your TA must have showed herself up shouting at you like that absolutely dreadful way to behave. The clue is in the A assistant and that is just what she is.I am pm ing you later.
How many more long sleeps Isabelle just 2? Have a brill time.
Now Nell am a bit confused here so were you pregnant at 9 and knitting for the baby, and haven’t knitted since? I’ve had a viewing of the Ducatti this evening and for some one with no idea of bikes this was one mean machine. I asked him if it was a chick puller and he fudged the answer lol.
Lesley now you must get that LGFB session booked. So will we see a pic of the long haired wig (which do you prefer) as you got both long and short?
Jill glad you popped out from under the duvet to say hello this b****y BC and treatment is really knackering and I don’t think it is acknowledged that this is the case.Hope you are on the up soon.
Heather did you come out of the womb accident prone or did it come on later? What an awful accident you were in with that push bike. I saw a Bichon something dog tied to the handle bars of a mobility scooter this afternoon outside the pharmacy. A really sweet looking little dog waiting patiently I asked him if his mummy was called Heather and he said no. Lol I made it easy for him as it was one bark for yes and 2 for no lol.I’m not sure whether you are a lark or an owl with your sleeping pattern or lack of it.
Carol the art work is so lovely what a great talent to have.I attend an art psychotherapy group on Mon, the 2nd was this last Mon and I made myself drive there stitches or no. Must try and stay off themes of water and bridges and boats as at the end we can talk about our work and I was a bit overcome, with the meanings these hold for me.
Suze had any sunshine? The weather has turned so warm here but the nights are drawing in Yuk.
Hope the day has been kind to you all Love Jackie

Good evening, ladies
our, Nell, glad you enjoyed your beauty therapy, I have mine next Tues.did get a photo before you washed it all off? My Oh has an exhibition at the end of the month, I will PM you. He doesn’t yet have enough work to do a one man exhibition, but maybe next year.
your chopper would be worth some thing now. when’s your next PM?
Gill, so our Sandra is still the ancient one! I get so frustrated that I have no stamina whatsoever. I have been trying to get out in the evening for a walk round the block cos I need to walk to help my osteoporosis. but any slight incline and my legs go to jelly. will havde to keep it up though.not been out on the bike either. note to self-must make more effort

Sandra, hope you havde recovered from you marathon journey home.
so, you can do dot to dot now. I’ve still got partial eyebrows, perhaps they will show me how to fill them in-painting by numbers?
I got my bike from Halfords, one of their own- a bit cheaper than Raleigh, I think. I would have liked a Pashley, really but they’re megga bucks
I had some of those boots, very shiny ones, used to wear them with my hotpants and maxisuede coat. I had the coat stolen and couldn’t afford to replace it so I bought the short version.it had fringes on it like a red indian’s coat.I think pony skin coats were out about the same time.
Vickie, hope you had a better experience at school today. I bet you would have normally given as good as you got- not easy to fight your corner when you’re feeling vulnerable
Maria, are the hills still reverberating? (big word for Wed)
Good luck to anyone who’s having anything done tomorrow

Carolxx

Hi, Jackie, why water, bridges and boats? I’m intreagued. My OH loves
painting boats when he does his watercolours, the more delapitaded the better, rotting actualy.

Hi Ladies
Another exhausting day, Mums 91st birthday, so this afternoon we had a party at her retirement home, so what started as tea/coffee and birthday cakes (two) the wine and baileys soon started to flow! no stopping these old ones, l had to laugh when l realised there are quite a few people living where she does that are younger than me!! is there no hope for anyone older than me, other than my Mum!!
Anyway she had a lovely time, even had a visit from a friend who lives in Norwich.

Heather,
What are we going to do with you, up half the night again.
Not sure if l said radio 7 is on digital radio! so if you haven’t got a digital radio you wont be able to get it, hope l haven’t confused you?

Gill, Aghhhhh 49! what hope have l got of finding someone older!!!
Ok, Maria need to make some rules, l know it is you thread, but please can we just have new ladies that are older than me? only need one! to make me feel good!
Well hate to say it in case l am jumping the gun, but l felt better on the second TAX so l am hoping l will feel even better on the third! only felt ill/sick for 4 days l think! and not so tearful as on FEC!
Sorry you are feeling so exhausted, one more to go Gill! and then you will start feeling a little better. Take care.

Nell, Yes l joined the dots and l have eyebrows!
My bloods and onc appointment are 9.50 tomorrow!
Not sure about you nell, I think you protest too much about your age!! l think you have kidded your oh and us!! games up NELL!! reveal your true age or in the stocks you go! or a ducking stool, do you remember them? use to put the naughty girls in them and drop them in the water! they were what they call the ‘good old days’ Lol.

Vrmmmmm Vrmmmmmm went the bike, straight into the back of my sons Audi this morning while on his way to work. He stopped on the roundabout but the bike never! The man said he was ok, but my son wanted to take him to hospital, but he said no! took his helmet off!it was then my son realised he was one of the chaps that works for him! devil when you try to run your staff over! l said he was probably late for work and tried to beat his boss!! Thankfully he and his bike were ok!
So l think l will stick to my pedal, pedal, puff, puff!!
Might have guessed you would have had a chopper!! you were a wench then too!!

You asked about Carol’s oh and his paintings, do you know Carol’s surname? Picasso! Now he is older than me!!

Redness on your face! did you get some cream in your LGFB bag, we had a green bottle filled with green liquid, turns you into hulk, but is meant to be good for redness on the face!!

Jackie, Yes l think we can all hear the ‘hills alive with the sound of music’ so very happy for our Maria.
So these LGFB people obviously pick the pretty ones out! Lol!! or perhaps it is the ones that they think need the most help!!!
No think the first option is right!!
She did both sides of my face! asked if l wanted to do one side, but l thought, no let them spoil me!
Think we need to get a coach up and go and visit little ones TA! give our slaps in person! then they wont lock Vickie up!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, why have you told me Isabelle is younger than you???
Yes age is a number, if you are younger than me!! only joking, quite like being the oldest kid on the block! so to speak.

Fancy asking a dog if it was related to Heather, you must be barking mad! anyway did it bark once or twice? you never said!

Weather has been beautiful here this week Suze, hope you are getting some of the sunshine?

Ok you TAX girls, what about your nails, mine are very sore on the nail bed! my thumb nail looks very slightly bruised, anyone lost their nails with this chemo, they are already quite sore to touch, all feel bruised, so dreading the loss of my nails!

Love and hugs to all and those not mentioned, still think of you all
Sandra xxx

duplicate!!!
Never mind, crossed over with Carol, so…
Hi Carol,
Well might still be the eldest, but sounds like l have more energy than our poor Gill at the moment!
You need to buy a crosstrainer, better for the dark nights, then you dont need to go out for a walk!

Yes all recovered from my marathon journey, dil came to do the housework, so that always makes me feel good!
Painting by number will be no problem, only goes up to 3! so not too many to remember!
I will have a look at the pashley, is it electric? being megga bucks!

Oh hotpants, loved them and loved the maxi skirts too, think we all had the pony skinned coats!

wish l had kept all my ‘good’ clothes, worth a fortune now!
Hugs
Sandra xxx

Hi, Sandra
quite like the fresh air at the mo. but that may change when it gets colder! a Pashley is a very posh old fashioned type of bike with basket etc, but I think it has all the best gears and cogs etc.
have you got one of those cross trainers? but then you have dogs, so have to go out anyway or do you put them on it?
Good luck for PM on Friday, last one is it? calls for a champaigne/guiness cocktail
Carolxx

Hi Carol,
Well funny enough l do have a cross trainer, in fact dil has it at the moment!!
story coming on Heather…
Bought the cross trainer about 5 years ago, cost £400 so a very good one!
When l ordered it l was given a delivery date, paid for it and waited, but then they phoned to say they couldn’t make that date and it would be weeks later, so l cancelled the order, because l knew l could get it from somewhere else.
A few days later they refunded my money, and the next day they delivered the cross trainer, so l waited and waited but they never came back and asked for the money! still waiting 5 years later,
thought, well they obviously dont want my money, so who am l to complain, it was a Very big company, so didn’t feel too guilty!!
Sandra xxx

well, that was some freeby!!
