Hello girls

Well, all done on the chemo front for me!!! Thanks for all your good wishes and your texts Julie & Daisy. Had my usual nightmare with veins etc but all done now. Felt very emotional but relieved at the same time. Sickness as usual and more pains in my hand, arm, head…you name it, I’ve got a pain there!

Been craving for ‘dippy eggs & soldiers’ this time - listen to your body as they keep telling me!

Sorry I didn’t make the meeting on Wednesday, was too tired and felt a bit dicky too! Hope it was a good one.

Well I’ve got this week to recover and then off to Colchester for rads planning meeting next Tuesday. Not sure when they start after that.

Sharon2 & Julie- I’ve put you both on my list for the Ball on 31 October. So far I have Me, Julie, Sharon2 + 2 friends, Sheila, Angela so that’s 6 of us, any other takers? I wondered if Tracey, Lily & Bev fancy it? I think Daisy told me she was already going with a friend to the same do. Anyone else let me know. I think it’ll be a good night.

I’ll wait to hear from you Sharon2 about the date of the pink party and the venue. Don’t forget, let me know what you want me to do to help.

Love to all
Helen x

Hi

Helen - great you have now finished chemo and your veins survived. I know what you mean about the emotional bit. Rads will probably start about two weeks after planning meeting. The Prof likes to have them start three weeks from end of chemo. if possible.

Just think no more sickness weeks. It will be weird not being in that routine.

Sorry I make it seven so far for ball! Only three more needed.

Sharon2 - As Helen says if you need any help with your Pink Party let us know.

Flora x

Hi,
congratulations Helen, well done and growl your way through the last one, it seems to be harder to put up with than the rest! Get ready for hormones as they usually start on the first day of rads. I can feel the temperature going up just talking about it lol. As to the pink ball can you hang on to hear from the rest of us? I keep meaning to ask Bev but my pea brain remembers when I am at home and not at work when I see her. Sorry I did not get to the meet either. It was the last night of panic revision before youngest’s As levels so was revisiting the marketing mix and other fun light topics lol.
OMG I went to our next door restaurant and had eton mess tonight. Oh we are sooooo going back there it was enormous, the yummiest thing ever and I will probably have to sit up all night so I am not sick. Was it worth it? Definitely.
See you soon

Hi everyone,

Well it is all systems go for our pink party which will be on Oct 3rd. The first hurdle has been achieved as we have got the hall for free!. Does anyone know of a good DJ or band. For those who have offered to help the next thing after organising the entertainment is to write to local businesses for possible raffle prizes so if I draw up a list and delegate I hope this is ok.
I am emotionally wiped out after the funeral yesterday and ahve to go and have my Zoladex this morning - what joy!
I hope you are all well
LOve Sharon2xx

Sharon2,
sorry I forgot to ask Bev about that dat again and saw he unpteen times in the last few days. I would love to help.

Dear Everyone

Well done HELEN on last chemo! I bet you must feel so emotional, I would. I have trouble with veins , I am so pleased for you to have finished as you were always sick!
I have been extremely tired this time mainly as not been able to sleep hardly! I dont know why, i sleep for 2 hours at a time , last night only had 4 hours, anyway any tips would be helpful, tried horlicks bath etc and sleeping tablets!
I would love to come to Pink party on 3rd Oct Sharon, hope you are ok at work
Feel so tired will try to go to bed now and hope everyone is ok with love juliexxx

Hi ladies - any tips on runny nose and leaky eyes syndrome? It’s getting to the point where as quick as I wipe an eye, the other is streaming. I also have the most delightful cold sore on my lip to add to the leaky look!

My bright red cheeks AKA Rosie & Jim are fading, so I don’t look like I have applied rouge badly.

Off to The Hoop today as they have a beer festival that hubby fancies sampling.

Love to all

Daisy xx

Hi everyone

Thanks for all your lovely comments, yes I am relieved to have finished the chemo - BIG TIME!!! Off to get sized up for the radiotherapy tomorrow and to have the first of my delightful Zoladex injections - Ouch.

Hope you have all had a good bank holiday weekend, hasn’t it been lovely weather? I can’t believe how much chemo has affected my skin… I can normally sit in the sun all day (my Dad’s family are Greek so I am blessed with the ability to tan easily) but after about half an hour I looked like a beetroot, thankfully it’s settled down now but think I’ll have to wear a high factor this year!

Daisy - my eyes & nose streamed after chemo 3, the chemo unit prescribed me some HYPROMELLOSE eye drops which really helped, I think the runny nose is due to lack of hairs and not a lot you can do for that. I never go anywhere without a tissue shoved up my sleeve!

Sharon2 - Great news about the Pink Party - perhaps we should meet up and you can delegate some of the work out?

Flora - Whoops, thanks for pointing out I have 7 already for the Ball on 31 October, chemo brain duh!!!

Julie - Sorry you are not feeling great still and that you are suffering with insomnia, hope it passes soon. Have you tried Bach Night Rescue Remedy? It helps me sleep, you can get it in Boots or Holland and Barrett, I think the Helen Rollason Centre do Rescue Remedies too, they might be able to mix you up a potion.

Off to bed now, talk to you soon.
Keep well
Love Helen x

Helen

Glad you enjoyed the weekend. Sunbathing not such a good idea. The nurses told me that had to use factor 50 whilst on chemo and for at least six months after. Need to be especialy careful with radiotherapy too depending where you are having it,probably best to ask. I used to do ten minutes in sun for Vitamin D and then put the cream on.

Daisy

As Helen says probably bad because of loss of hairs. Be prepared for drippy nose and eyes for quite a while!! Takes a long time for body hair to return. Still have to ensure plenty of tissues especially when outdoors. The eyes watering was definitely the worst but did not need to take anything so cannot help there.

Julie

Have also heard the some of these resuce remedies are good for calming and getting to sleep. If you get the lozenges don’t suck too many - have laxative effect!

Hello to everyone else and hope you all had good weekend. I get an extra day off tomorrow so can chill for another day, great.

Flora x

Hi,
Julie you must feel worn out. I used to give up normal times to be awake and asleep and just go with what my body wanted. The steroids used to affect my sleep badly as I need very little sleep normally.I also found changing beds when I woke up helped. So moved between rooms and the sofa. I often thought hubby was waking me as sleeping more lightly. Daisy the drippy eye was really annoying for me too although the cold cap meant I hung on to nose hair so that was not really a problem.I just constantly dabbed my eye. They gave me drops but that was just adding more liquid so just put up with it. Sorry to say that side effect lasted ages. Really annoying as I had a sore dry mouth. I used to think my plumbing had gone wrong with all the fluid coming out the wrong places lol.TAC seems to accumulate with side effects so be kind to yourself or you will be shattered. Hope you enjoyed the festival. Helen I have to agree with Flora, you have to be really careful with the sun and chemo and rads. I am going to Turkey in the summer and I am really not sure how much sun I can take. Normally I am like you and can sit in the sun without any burning problems. In fact it takes me ages to tan and then it just stays for ages. Might have to be very sensible and looking for tops to cover the rads area so I don’t start to recook.
Hi everyone else
Lily x

Hi Im an Essex girl living in Newfoundland. I was told I had BC last Oct. Had 6 rounds of chemo, then in feb had my left breast and 16 lympnodes removed, no lympnodes infected, and they got all the cancer cells out . I am now on herceptin for a year. and when
i was being told Im cancer free, my sister in law was loosing her fight with BC. that was a hard time for my partner, she wanted to celibrate my good news but was morning for her sister.

Hi all,

Sorry I haven’t been about much, have finally finished unpacking but broadband has been a bit hit and miss. Still trying to catch up with everyone, sounds like a lot of ‘balls’ coming up, ha ha! count me in for 31st Helen and Sharon just let me know what I can do to help for the one on the 3rd.

Helen, so pleased for you that you have finished chemo, well done x.
Julie, sorry to hear you are not sleeping well, I am the opposite, I still do get very tired. Daisy, where are you with treatment now? hope all is going well for you.

Lily, Flora and everyone else hope you are all well, I have missed you all.

Love Tracey xx

PS. Hello Leadwellie, brilliant you are doing well after your treatment and sorry to hear things have been so difficult for your family x.

Greetings all

I am not a happy-chappy! The Morrissey concert I was going to on Thurs has been cancelled as he isn’t well, shame, neither am I and I was still going. Now got to wait for either a refund or see if the gig can be rescheduled. I start the steroids that day, chemo, the next, so going to the gig would have meant a good nights sleep as I wouldn’t be home til gone 1am. arghhh!!!

Chemo no 4 this week, you watch it be the hottest day of the year so far!

My eyes/nose have sorted themselves out, took some Piriteze and hey presto, gone.

Moonshine - glad the house move went well.
Sharon2 - whats the name of that charity you spoke about?
Julie - hope you have managed to get some kip.
Leadwellie - hi, nice to meet you, nearly read your name as leadwillie!

Hi to everyone els,e hope you are all fighting fit.

Daisy xxx

Tracey glad you are settling in so well at the new house. Do let us know if you plan a boob club rave lol. I am really glad you will be doing the race for life too as I am sure I will need a piggy back up the hills lol.
X x to everyone else
