Essex Girls!

Thanks for the information about wigs Helen.
If it’s any help I was advised by my BC nurse to have the swine flu jab.

What day is good for your Flora? Monday or Tuesday not that great for me but can do if it’s the only day you are free? Anybody else free? That’s great about the photo, thanks Flora. By the way - good to see you looking so well.

Thanks for the advice from you bcn missm.

Love to all
Helen x

I’m free!! well I hope so anyway, so far this week not to good. I seem to have picked up a flu lurgy and have been buried under the duvet all week. Just to add to the fun the girls have had upset tummies. Hopefully I will be able to join you next week if I am germ free.

Hello Strawberrylady, so sorry you have been diagnosed. Those early days are so shocking and hard to come to terms with. We are in Chelmsford but we all had our rads at Colchester. I hope we can be of support to you, we all know how you feel.

Flora, thank you for the photo’s they are lovely. I did order one on the night but didn’t pay full price, always did like a bargain!
Yes Helen you looked gorgeous on Saturday, Ethel and Maud can do posh too, ha ha.

Love to all xx

Hi everyone,
Tracey sorry to hear you have been poorly and hope all the family are on the mend now. Swine flu at school in most of my classes, just let me get it before Christmas if I have to catch it at all! I am free Monday or Thursday of next week I think.
Missm do you know what chemo you are having yet? I think you may get TAC but things change all the time. The bcn told me that I might have to give up 6 months of my time in order to enjoy 40 or more years afterwards. Sounds horrid but made me think about the big picture. The wigs are very good and much better to have a dead ferret on your head in the winter than sweating away in the summer  I bought lots of soft hats and even had to wear one in bed as always cold. They have so many tablets and things to stop you feeling ill and a lot of them are put down the line before you ahve the chemo so already working. After the first one you will find you get a routine to your days and know exactly what to expect and on what day. I used to skip out the hospital and then wake up feeling like I was in a fog on day 5 and just lie on the sofa and wake up back to normal on day 8. We are all different and it depends on your particular treatment. Try not to worry too much just keep busy and try to do lots of nice things in the days beforehand. Know how you feel -hugs x.
Hi Flora how many to go now? You must be rattling into some good % by now and hope you are feeling well still hugs for you too x.
Hi strawberry lady i thought you were going to say you came from Tiptree with your name. So sorry that you have had a pile of c…p land on you and we all completely understand. Hope from our posts you can tell that it gets easier and once the right people are told then you start to think I am going to fight this. I remember my first waking thought every day being ‘I’ve got cancer’ and expecting to wake up like it was a dream. It is still c…p but we walk ahead hopefully and help each other out a lot. Others don’t really understand how your peace of mind has gone and how lonely it can seem. My boss had it at the same time as me and was treated in Colchester. We are all over towards Chelmsford but you can always join us if you are ok with the drive over.Being a nurse probably means you know too much but things change all the time and the odds are good these days. No you don’t have to go to work, most people go off when they find out or from when they have their op. I was not allowed to work at all as a teacher and because my immune system would be down and I think you will be the same. Lots of luck with your results and let us know how you get on. Fingers crossed for you and hugs too x.
OK hugs everyone today and hope to see you all soon

Hi,
are we on for next week in the evening ? Monday or Thursday for me.
lily x

Hi everyone
I hope you are keeping well.
I have just tried to book my swine flu jab and my surgery don’t have it in yet.
Lily I am signing consent form for chemo on Monday so I should know what I am having and when it starts. I am terrified but encouraged by what you have all said.
I have been looking at wigs and came up with this site.
mynewhair.org/- It might be of use to newbies on here. Have a good day.

Hi,
can we say yes to Monday or Thursday asap so I can ring B who wants to see you all.
Missm will be thinking of you on Monday and it might be an idea to write down your questions and have someone with you write doen the answers. i was always pleased that I had done this or lost track of things I meant to ask. Definitely find out the name of the treatment so you can look it up, although they will probably give you a fact sheet. How many you will have (usually 6 or 8). You will most likely get sent for scans, chest x ray as it is routine to offer you everything in our area. We are in an area of excellence for BC treatment and of high survival odds so at least we got one lucky break!! They are very good so let them do the planning and you just enjoy this weeken. By the way to cheer myself and hubby up we always went into the canteen and they do a fab cooked breakfast, which we enjoyed every time. It meant I was thinking about that on the way and didn’t get so stressed. Hubby just enjoyed stuffing his little face:)

Hi everyone,

Bloomin’ pc has been offline for a couple of days, just catching up now. Sorry to hear you have been unwell Moonshine - lot of nasties going around at the moment.

If we are meeting up, please please can we do Thursday in preference to Monday? If Monday is the best day for everyone, I will try to get there but it’s a bit tricky with babysitting.

Missm, well done. You will be ok - look at us girlies!

Welcome to Strawberry lady, so sorry to hear you are going through all this. Like Lily says it is frightening (fear of the unknown), sometimes lonely but once you get into a routine with the treatment it is bearable. I have met some wonderful friends - yes all you pink ladies :o) that have made a huge difference to me and also gained some other good friends along the way.

Take care & keep well everyone
Love Helen x

Thanks Helen x, yes it does seem to be doing the rounds. Thursday would be better for me as I’m still feeling poo, so hopefully will be more up for it by then. Hope you feel more reassured after Monday Missm. I will be at the Clinic on Monday for a check up, I will be my usual laid back carefree self (NOT)! As Helen says, we all give each other tremendous support (as well as having fun), I adore these gals!! Hope chemo went okay yesterday Flora and everyone is well.

See you all soon

Hi girls
Thanks for the support.
I see the Prof on Monday morning and then have my scans done on the 20th. I will definitely write down what I need to know as I went to pieces last time I saw him. My husband is coming along for the ride- he is much more clear headed than I am.
I am trying to keep busy by doing things I enjoy this weekend.
Hope your weekends are going well.

Hi,
executive teacher decision, we meet on Thursday at Miller and Carter at 6.15. Is that ok? Please pass on to anyone who might not get online. Anyone else care to join us pipe up before then. Tracey lots of luck - NOT that you need it. Flora I sent you a pm. Sharon2 are the side effects easing at all? i hope so.
Helen hope Thursday suits you.
Hi to anyone else
Lily x

Well done Teacher! Thank you that’s fine by me, although I may not be there dead on 6.15pm, grab a table and I’ll be there when I can.
Hx

Count me in (I have got my hand up Mrs.Lilly) drop O to work at 6 so will come straight there.

Missm, hope all went well with Prof.D this morning. I was at clinic and it was packed but I only waited a few minutes as they were all waiting for Prof.D and I saw Prof.S. His hands were sooo cold!! anyway was able to put my mind at rest about what Dr.L had told me before about inferior margin and he confirmed all margins were clear, so I wish I had never listed to her. He also told me I am to stop worrying so much!! Don’t know what he means:)

See you Thursday x

Hi
Saw the Prof and signed my chemo forms. It was very busy and I had to wait three quareters of an hour (not as long as last time!) I’m still feeling very tearful even though I know I have made the right decision. I am having 3x FEC and 3x TAC starting in the next 2-3 weeks. Pleased to hear you had clear margins moonshine.
Keep well everyone
XM

HI everyone and in particular to the new girls - sorry to hear from you but you are in the best company!!! we will help you through whatever is thrown at you and between us all we’ve had it!!

Sorry but I can’t make Thursday - Football managers meeting so had better attend but I will be thinking of you when I am sitting in a room full of men!.

I don’t know if the Primera is helping or not - some days I think yess but other days no as the flushes are just as regular but more intense but maybe they are starting to aettle. I now have a new prob today - cording and have been in pain nearly all day, bearable but definetly there.

There is a meeting on the 27th at the Lion, Boreham for “friends of HR” so if anyone would care to join me Moonshine has said she would, bless her can you let me know so that I can let Angela at HRCHC know for num, bers.

Hope everyone else is ticking along but had better go as this has taken its strain on my right arm.
Love to you all Sharon2 xx

Hi,
Sharon will be sorry to miss you but know you will have a fine time looking at all their legs!!! I am really sorry but with my job I just can’t take on anything else without going back to the stress levels I was trying to avoid. I hope you will both have fun though at the event and it is a great thing to do. My support will have to be financial rather than time.Hope you understand :)Are you sure it is cording? If it is stretch your arm right out until you feel it loosen, thats what a physio told me anyway.
Tracey that is great news and I wish that idiot had not told you all that worrying margin stuff before. She really is the voice of doom! I must make a point to avoid S if he has cold hands eek. Actually I have never met him. Now can you please stop worrying at least for a little while? Please?
Missm well he has given you some expensive cocktails there and although it is scarey it will kick any little Cs lurking about up the backside. Just one of those drugs is close to £1000 a shot if you were private so you can at least feel you are getting good treatment I hope. Poor you, now put it out your mind and have some fun until then. Maybe get some Christmas presents in advance? Would you like to join us on Thursday? Flora hope thursday is ok.
Take care all
Lily x

Hello ladies

Moonshine, delighted your margins are clear - a big phew!!!

Not sure i’ll be there now as I seem to be hacking well. If in doubt I won’t spread my germs.

Sharon2, hope you are ok despite the continuous flushes. Shame we won’t see you Thursday. I think that meeting is on Monday 23 November at the Lion Inn, that’s what it says in the HR Moments Magazine. I hope to join you.

Missm, it’s only natural to still feel tearful. I still get teary now! Anyway you are in great hands and will be well looked after. I had a list of friends that were able to take me to my chemo appointments, which was nice and not too much pressure on anyone in particular. Will you have your treatment at Broomfield? They are lovely there.

Hi to Lily, Flora, Julie (hope you are ok, haven’t heard from you in a while)and everyone else.

Keep well, hope to see you Thursday
Hx

Hi all,
sorry but I think I will have to pull out of tomorrow :frowning:
Although I feel much better than last week I have ended up with a terrible tickly cough. Had it happen in the Vets yesterday, it was so embarrasing! I couldn’t stop and was choking and the Vets Nurse had to sit me down and give me sips of water. Hope I can meet up with you all soon, have a nice time.
Hugs x

Hi,
well it sounds like just Flora and I and maybe B if better so I will ring round tomorrow (or leave me a text) and see if we should postpone it
Get better germies
Lily x

Hope you got my text Lily? - I’ve got the lurgy too! Off to Doctors tonight, hope to get some antibiotics as its gone to my chest (I sound like I have a 40 a day habit - lovely!). Sorry won’t make it tonight either. Moonshine, sound like you and I have the same thing -wish you better soon.

Love Helen x
