Eyebrows
Eyebrows Hi everyone,
I am new to this website and find it very helpful!
I am 26 and have just recovered from breast cancer, I finished my chemo in may 06 and still waiting for my eyebrows to come back. They are back a bit but nothing like they were they are really faint.
Is there still a chance they will come back as they were??
I had 4x FEC
and 4x Taxotere.
Has any one else has this problem and they did come back !
Please help
Thanks
same here Hi Marymo
I too had the FEC and Taxotere regime and both eyebrows and lashes survived the FEC but really struggled with the Taxotere and thinned quite a bit.
I am still using eyeliner on my lids and also using a pencil to shape and fill in eyebrows, its really becoming quite frustating now as I finished back in July.
Debbie
Thank you for replying ! Did you finsh July 06 ?
I find it frustrating too, I am not using eye pencil as I am scared it might pull a hair out how silly!
My eyebrows survived the FEC but fell out with the Taxotere.
Let me know how yours get on. I hope they come back
I bought some make up from Benefit, a little pallette called Brow Zings that some of the ladies on here recommended. Up to now I’ve been using eyebrow pencil, but my eyebrows are thinning now on FEC, so I’m going to start using it. I got it from their website, 2 colours that you can blend.
Thanks for that !
I am useless with makeup on my brows. I might try it though.
Hope your treatment is going well and your not feeling too rough. I found chemo to be the hardest part but it flew by. Hope it is going quickly for you. I just kept crossing them off until i had one left !
Let me know how your hair comes back
Hi Marymo
Yes finished july 2006, my hair on head and bikin back to norm, but facial, legs and under arm very slow.
Debbie
same here Same here. 4xFEC & 4xTax - finished in June 06. Eyebrows were last to go - and seemingly last to return! (still only a shadow of their former self).
If eyebrows are slow growing, this makes sense. Slow growing hair will be less impacted by chemo, and will only thin out slowly. But then, of course, will also take much longer to grow back. I was just pleased the eyelashes grew back quickly.
Hi Angilbert,
Thanks for that, let me know how your eyeborws get on !! I can comapre then
I will keep my fingers crossed.

Funny how we all differ… I had same chemo in '04 and had no trouble with my eyebrows returning - infact they were so thick they almost joined in the middle! I’d almost forgotten their pre chemo shape so it was hit and miss with the guess work for a while! I’m still waiting for the hair under my arms to come back and my hairy legs are just a distant memory.
Funny how we all differ Did they come back that thick in the six months after you finished chemo or did it take up to a year to come back that thick?
I am very jealous at least you can pluck them.

Yes, it took about six weeks! The hair on my head came back even quicker and its been growing like the clappers ever since - its way down my back now, still very thick and a bit curlier than before. But its also wilder and drier and does tend to have a mind of its own.I dont mind at all - I’ll never cut it again (it was waist length before chemo)
eyebrows/lashes came and went hi all,
mine came back a few weeks after the taxol finished and then they have gone again well down to nearly bare not sure what is going on there???
eyebrows/lashes came & went Hi,
When did you finish your taxol? I have heard that peoples eyebrows can fall out after chemo but they should come back !
Mine fell out just before my last two and I am still awaiting my old thick eyebrows back. I only have a tiny bit and I finished Chemo May 06.

I finished chemo in Oct 2006 (4 x FEC and 4 x Taxotere) - my hair started to grow back properly in December and my bottom row of eyelashes came back at about the same time
My eyebrows however are still a work in progress! I have about ten little hairs each side but very little else…the top row of eyelashes are a bit stubby but definitely on their way and to my horror I now need to shave my legs (but as it’s cold and I’m in trousers or jeans most of the time, I’m putting off doing the deed…and yes, I do live by myself!)

I finshed the chemo 6 months ago now and when I was 2 weeks into the radio I was half way there with the brows and lashes, by the time I had brachy I was back to normal then a few weeks ago my brows are bearly visible and the lashes are little stumps! Baffled!
I have about 20 hairs on each side and I am between 6 & 7 months after chemo. My hair also took about 2 months to grow back properly as well and now it is quite thick but is seems to be taking ages to get long again.
The first part of your eyebrow near the nose the thicker part has quite a few hairs nothing like before tho and the thiner part towards the end has hardly anything.
I am praying it can take up to a year for them to come back. I can’t understand how all my other hair has come back but the eyebrows are still kinda non existant.
Please let me know how yours get on

Brachy Just being nosey - what’s brachy???
Sandra
Brachytherapy is a high tech and precise radiation treatment performed by implanting radioactive “seeds” near or directly inside cancerous tumors.
This procedure allows physicians to deliver a strong and direct dose of radiation to the tumors, while causing little damage to the surrounding tissues. It is most commonly used to treat prostate, breast, or cervical cancer
