Hi @kav50 About to have second EC Chemo fingers crossed. Had bloods and flush done yesterday. I live alone and spent a couple of days this week filling the freezer just in case I feel dreadful. I have let my neighbours know who are really sweet but I find it so hard to actually ask for help. Luckily, haven’t needed it yet. Good luck on Thursday
@carrie5 when I read your message about losing your husband six months ago, I was gutted for you. Bereavement on top of chemo Is unbelievable. I think it would’ve finished me off! Well done for being so brave.
Gosh, lots on the thread today since I last looked.
Firstly welcome to the support group
@heya_25 @kav50 @misha @sparkleandshine @KazED
Sorry If I missed anyone!
It’s great support on here. Sharing everything.
@debly123
Good to hear your treatment gone ok today.
Hope you’re feeling ok?
Sounds like your throat so much better, now you’re on the acid reflux meds. it continues to help.
@pineapples123
Hope your still doing ok since your hospital stay?
I’ve had a bad 24 hours similar to a lot of you. Upset tummy, terrible fatigue, nausea.
Hopefully over the worst, but I did have my big session last Thursday so perhaps side effects later kicking in.
Shorter one this Thursday, so hopefully be okay .
Wishing everyone well sending hugs x
@heya_25 thanks for response that’s good to hear that so far you are managing.
I do have two teenage boys (18 and 17) but they aren’t here full time. Interesting your oncologist said you could look after yourself but no one else - will def relay this to the boys, although not sure how much this will sink in!!
I’m am so nervous about starting chemo but everyone’s messages on here are super helpful so thanks!!
Just one more question: can you have a bath with PICC line (obvs not getting it wet)??
Hi everyone
Yes I’m so pleased to be out of hospital. I’m feeling ok. I’ve been to hospital today and thankfully my bloods are ok now so can have chemo on Thursday.
Hope everyone is ok and not suffering too many side effects.
Xxx
Glad you are home @pineapples123. Hope chemo goes ok tomorrow. Ive just had picc line put in. I think I was very lucky as it wasnt painful. I have also got chemo tomorrow, 2nd one. At least they wont have to find a vein this time and they know to give me piriton intravenously so I shouldnt get hives this time.
Hi @pineapples123
That’s good you are ok and your bloods are ok for tomorrow. Did they find an infection?
I have had awful migraine since Friday night when the pain from the filgrastim was horrendous in my back. I think it set the migraine off and now won’t go. I’ve phoned the assessment unit up and they have said oncologist will speak to me before next chemo. The pain was severe and pulsating then migraine!
Hope everyone else is ok
Xx
Hi @anb1
When I was doing my own filgrastim injections I had no pain . But in hospital they gave me them and I had horrendous pain in legs and back. I took paracetamol and it seemed to help. But is it not helping you.?
You might need stronger pain killers . But awful it’s brought on a migraine.
When is your next chemo?
Xx
Hi @dkc66
I was lucky with PICc line too. It went in well. I’m not noticing it as much as I thought as have a arm band over it. I’m having chemo tomorrow also so hope yours goes ok. I’m dreading having to give injections again.
Xxx
Hi @pineapples123
The pain wasn’t bad after the first 3 then the 4 and 5 I never known anything like it. I was pacing round the house in the middle of the night as I couldn’t stay still. The paracetamol didn’t touch it nor the migraine. The nurse said the Docetaxel and the filgrastim can cause reaction in some people. Wonder if yours was worse in hospital because you had already had the ones at home? They have done the trick for you though so that’s good. My next chemo is 3 March xx
Good to hear your feeling so much better now.
I’ll be hooked up hopefully tomorrow as well!
Just had a call Ive got to go to hospital again this afternoon to get my blood done again as missing the ones taken from last week
1.30 for me tomorrow.
Hope yours goes well for you tomorrow with you session
sending x
@pineapples123 @anb1 Filgrastim the same here, didn’t have any back pain till after the 4th injection it was excruciating like childbirth back pain! Keeping Co-codomol on standby for Fri/Sat.
Think there’s several of us in tomorrow including @sparkleandshine
@kav50 - Yes I have had a bath with my arm hanging out! Not as relaxing but good to have a nice soak when having tum and back pain
@wba - Hope your sickness has subsided?
Hi to all newbies too -
@misha sorry you find yourself here and being made redundant what a bummer! And yes agree Chemo sucks! I have to keep reminding myself that it’s to keep me alive!
Tomorrow is week 3 of 12 so a quarter way through this lot of chemo/immunotherapy
Hi @wba
Good luck for your chemo tomorrow. Mine is 10.30. Chemo took 40 mins last time but cold cap adds extra. I’m worried I will start to see hair shedding after this second one as that is when it starts. I’m trying to prepare myself. I’ve got my wig appointment on Monday so something to fall back on.
Thinking of everyone having chemo tomorrow and everyone at different stages in their cycle
Lots of love
Dear All, I know there are a few of us starting chemo tomorrow so I just wanted to send love and healing hugs to you all. I go from feeling calm to OMG what is happening. I did a tour of the chemo unit last week at Frimley my local hospital and everyone was so lovely. We have got this ladies xxx
Best wishes to everyone starting their chemo this week. I was really nervous before my first one week last Monday but it went fine. xxx
So, another sleepless night following EC Chemo yesterday. Cold capped with a panty liner on my head, stuck onto a headband which I found out on here and really made it more bearable . So far, not too many side-effects from the chemo. Drank gallons of fluids. Trying desperately to sort my waste disposal system which goes from being blocked to flowing excessively, but I’m hoping to get there. However, huge side-effects from the drugs and injections given to stop the side-effects of the chemo (massive bone pain, headaches, etc, etc,). So now I have more drugs and injections to stop the side-effects from the drugs and injections which were given to me to stop the side effects from the Chemo. I suspect everyone knows what I mean.
It rather reminds me of the old-fashioned song
‘‘Twas on a Monday morning the gas man came to call’ by Flanders and Swann. Only the oldies will know it but if you want a smile today while you’re having your chemo look it up, and best of luck to everyone xx
Morning
@oldgirl1
With you on the sleepless nights.
Think a few of us same. I feel so tired
Well done with tolerating the cold cap. Hope it works for you.
The drugs given seem to be giving lots of side effects… The steroid’s affected me.
Not heard that song but will definitely look it up whilst on hooked up today!
Hopefully your side effects from drugs subside.
x
@oldgirl1 Your post made me giggle, i know exactly what you’re saying.
Will have to look up the song .
Big hugs to all who are having their chemo today xx
One hour sleep last night. Im usually averaging 2 hours a night. My hair is shredding in handfuls despite cold cap. I got my daughter to cut my hair short yesterday as seeing handfuls of long strands was too distressing. 2nd chemo today. Decided to carry on with cold cap but if I lose much more I wont bother again. I have a wig but I was hopeful I wouldnt lose much with the cold cap and wouldnt need it. Need to get my head around this but not there yet.
I had lower back pain yesterday which I associate with Filgastrim and a bout of diahorrea but had been given Loperamide which seems to have done the trick.
Hi,
I’m due to start tomorrow(grade3, pT3,N1mi)and I’m quite anxious about it as well. Even after reading everything…still don’t feel I know what to expect! Having followed the forums since Nov 2024, this is my first post.
Sending you warm thoughts that you’ll go through it as well as you can.
