I really do feel so much better now its off,
No more having to deal with the trauma of how much hair will be falling out today as soon as I wake up.
It is a powerful feeling when you take control of the situation,A small win to us in such a time there doesn’t feel like we have many
@oldgirl1 i am also cold capping and have just had my 2 treatment but have been shedding for about a week now and there is a lot coming off. Did you notice a lot shedding before it slowed down? Xxx
Hi @anb1 its pants isn’t it. I started shedding just after my second EC. It seemed to come out all over rather than in patches, And I was pulling bundles off my clothes and whenever I brushed it. If I touched my head, I could feel it falling out and I felt it was shedding all over the place. The worst was I had to look at my food in case it Had fallen into that too!!! Then, after about a week, although it was still shedding a little it was much less. Just had my third lot of EC And it’s still shedding a little, but I suspect next week it might come out more. Luckily, it’s still all over my head, although they’re very thin, So I can mostly hide it. I just didn’t want to look bald, But there’s a little while to go yet, so although I have my fingers tightly crossed, I am realistic. I’m going to carry on cold capping as I don’t find it too bad, As all the statistics do say it also help helps the hair come back quicker. The very best of luck to you and do get back in touch if you need any tips. xx
@oldgirl1 thank you for replying it does sound like it’s quite normal then to shed this much for a start. I’m hoping it slows down a little soon. I too am really careful when cooking and eating I can’t stand hair in food even my own. I will keep cold capping if only for the reason of it growing back quicker if I don’t manage to save some. Sending you love and lovely to hear from you xxx
Hi Debly, I had bad anxiety and was given a couple of Lorazepam 1mg by my oncology chemist, they really helped
Hi Jacx
Sorry haven’t been on here for a couple of days. Had my second infusion Tuesday and other than a bit of has been ok dry lips and a bit of indigestion but drinking lots of water, seems to help a lot for me
Hi all,
Just back from my 5th paclitaxel and as I still have an upset tummy and haven’t felt my right big and second toes since Saturday I will be having a week off next week! My hair is still really shedding but like you @oldgirl1 it is still pretty even so I can get away with it.
@kav50 my nose has been running but mostly very very sore deep inside and bleeds easily when blown, I didn’t link it with hair loss so thanks for the reminder
Also my lump seemed to double and spread almost straight after diagnosis but was explained away as inflammation from the the biopsies. It was still swollen several weeks later even after first Chemo started but has gone down now and is as it was back in late November
Hi Mary,
Sorry I’ve been a bit quiet too. Had lots of appointments and EC 2 on Tues which went well. Bit of indigestion too but not as bad as first round. The oncologist reduced my ati-sicky drug as that was causing it and the constipation. Sleep has been broken past 2 days which is horrid. I have a very dry mouth so drinking lots and peeing lots! I had my first Zometa dose which has given me a slight backache but seems ok. Also got calcium tabs to take now. No head or eyebrow hair loss yet which is great, hair everywhere else has thinned or gone which I’m not bothered about. Runny nose is prevalent. Glad your second one went well and you are doing ok. I also got fantastic news this week that my BRCA test is negative, no faulty gene in my DNA so my kids are safe from this I had a good ole hapoy cry. Xxx
Hi @oldgirl1 and @anb1 . I have just had my 3rd dose of EC today. I have it every 2 weeks. I’m cold capping and hair had been doing ok . However I felt the nurse who did cold cap did it different from last 2 times. She didn’t seem to put as much water on. And it just felt different. Although I was expecting it to shed at some point I would hate to think it was to do with the cold cap not being right made it shed.
I’ve just washed my hair doing the cold water careful washing.etc I feel that more hair is coming out and on my comb. But maybe it has been slightly shedding all the time but all over so it just looks thinner.
I wish I could be as brave as everyone who is shaving . But I’m just terrified of losing my hair. I know if it happens I will just accept it. Such as my immediate reconstruction failed after mastectomy. So my worst fear happened and I’m coping with that .
Anyway I’ve had my 3rd EC with 1 more to go with 4 paclitaxel coming after .
So it’s getting over.
Hugs and love to everyone
Xxxx
A little update -
Unfortunately for the 2nd week running my chemo has been posponed due to liver funtion not being good, (enzymes really up and getting worse).
Infact they’ve stopped my treatment altogether and I’m now waiting for a scan on my liver to find out whats happening. My first chemo was 7th February and supposed to have every 21 days. I’ve not even got to my 2nd cycle yet and treatment has been stopped.
I know its for my own safety, and its good they are keeping an eye on me. Its just so frustrating. My diet is supurb, fruit, veg etc, drinking at least 2 litres of water a day. All of the side effects from the first cycle have gone, apart from this , which is getting worse.
I was put on Omeprazole for acid reflux in week 2 , but I’m starting to wonder if it’s that , thats affecting my liver. I’m physically starting to feel unwell now . (nauseous and tired).
So got to wait for a scan appointment to come through the post before the Oncologist can make a decision on my treatment.
But for now I’m on hold.
Hi @pineapples123 I know I which I could be brave like others with my hair but I’m not. You sound like yours is doing well though. Mine is just coming out every time I touch it just hope it slows down a bit soon. You are getting through the treatments it will soon go won’t it. Hope you are ok xxx
@pineapples123 Oh goodness I m with you every inch of the way about the loss of hair. For some reason, it is devastating for me too. I take control of the Spraying on of Water and The conditioner. I’ve studied the videos on the Pacman site. I also use a small hairband and I stick a panty hose onto that so that the soft side sits on my forehead just below my head headline. I then make sure that they put the hat on really tight. I also leave the conditioner on for the first night and wash it off the next morning as I found that that is quite good for my hair. I just pat my hair in the shower And let the fresh air dry it. Very different to what I would normally do with a blow dryer!!! Just finished my third EC so one more and then four Paclitaxol too. I do feel as though I am Of my side effects as I progress. However, I expect it will be different for the Pac!! Best of luck xx
So sorry your treatment not going ahead again.
You’re doing all the right things. Hopefully you get your scan quickly.
Someone else on the forum may perhaps have similar experience, who can share
Sending hug’s
Ahhh I’m so happy for you, seems the EC is better this time around. I’ve had a sore mouth last night but better today, just did lots of salt water gargles and drinking litres of water which I find helps. Seeing my oncologist today.
Hope you have a really good peaceful day today xx
Hey @pineapples123
I’m also on EC 2 weekly and cold capping.
Just had my 2nd lot (3 days ago) and like you, I’m absolutely petrified of losing my hair
I don’t have any advice, I just wanted to reach out to let you know that I’m feeling the same way
X
Hi @lauzloo thanks for reaching out. I’ve just had my 3rd EC and after my worry , it seems to still be ok. When I brush a bit comes out but no more than maybe it used to. But I just feel I can’t get too confident as I read up about other peoples experiences and they are all so different. Some hardly lose any and others loads. How is your hair doing? It’s good to be able to compare with someone on same treatment and same time between.
I have mine on Thursdays. Always feel
Ok on Friday and Saturday. Then the tiredness weakness slight nausea and spaced out feeling starts on Sunday . It seems worse Sunday Monday but I’m not right for rest of week then by the Saturday seem to be ok again.
How are you doing on it.
Xxx
Hi @pineapples123 and @lauzloo I have just had my 2nd EC and cold cap this Tues and hair has just started to shed, not tons but a fair amount each time I I comb it. I use a wide tooth big comb and put a leave in conditioner in after gentle washing and natural towel drying in a turban. I so don’t want it to all fall out, I can live with thinning or bald patches but just don’t want to be bald. I don’t want to shave my head either. I am against a wig, just can’t see myself in one. 2 more EC and then 12 weekly Paclitaxel and Phesgo, seems a world away yet. I have a few nice things in my diary to look forward to like lunch with a friend and a reflexology session next week so just trying to focus on the good stuff for now.
Hey Mary, hope you had a good appointment and the sore throat is better. I now religiously brush my teeth at night and use mouthwash (never did before this), seems to be helping. I stopped taking one of my anti sick drugs too, I don’t have any nausea and they just mess up my digestion, I feel so much better today. Very tired though, overdid it a bit yesterday so resting today. Fed up of my nose running, bled a bit today too, that’s new! Always something different each day.
For those of you cold capping please look at my post on this thread on 5 Feb. Links to Paxman for cold cap advice.

I’m having my second chemo on 18th. How has chemo affected your appetite and taste because I am struggling with food as I can’t taste a thing.
