Hi wba.
Glad you not feeling too bad yet. Happy with my hair. It’s quite a bit shorter. Teeth ok but need a deep clean so getting that next week. So will you be having chemo every week for a while?
Yes I saw the link about primark. So think I will
Have a look. Hopefully dkc66 can join in our conversations. Nice to see some new posts.
I was a teacher for over 20 years before I worked for council. I took teachers pension when I was 60. Will be 62 in June this year.
Debating whether to take pension from council and hopefully be able to manage. When you get a cancer diagnosis it makes you reflect on what you really want in life.
Xx

Thanks for lovely welcome. Its a lonely journey when you dont know anyone who has had chemo before and this will be such a help. Ive not worked for 9 months now as I had a knee replacement last April. Im self employed as a chess coach in schools and have to commit to the term which I couldnt. To then be getting over the knee to find a lump in August was such a shock, especially as Id had mammogram in January. I start chemo 30th January. Ive been trying to arm myself with as much info aS possible. Are you guys going to have tthe picc line put in ? Also what about the cold cap? Not sure i could tolerate it but desperate to keep hair. Very glad to hear no side affects so far. Goodnight for now. Xxx
Hi dkc66 and wba.
Hope you feeling ok wba. You are the front runner in this.
Dkc66 I start my chemo on 6 th feb. I’m having EC 4 sessions then paxitaxel 4 sessions every 2 weeks. Having the picc line in just before I start.
What chemo type are you having?
I’m going to try cold cap as I really don’t want to lose my hair also. Have you had your pre assessment yet where they go through everything?
Which part of country are you from dkc66. I’m from Newcastle area.
Glad I’ve got some lovely people to share this time with .
Thank you, I’m not really sure how to navigate the site and post things? I would love to try and make friends and speak with people to get each other through this xxx
Morning @dkc66
Share anything you feel, good to be here for one another.
Please look back on posts we already put on as lots about us so far with thing’s & tips shared.
Two of us only joined just a week ago so not much to read through.
Gosh. Having a mammogram in the January & finding lump August. Good you found it. Thankfully you got that early
I beat myself up for not noticing anything earlier as my last one was 2023. I found my lump in December.
With you knee as well you’ve had a lot going on.
Your job sounds a lovely role to do
Hard if your self employed.
You could try & claim PIP your McMillan nurse may help you with that. Especially with dealing with your recovery.
Like you I’ve armed myself with as much information as I can.
I’ve had a good night & still no big side effects as yet know it’s only 24 hours so still time.
Yes, I had a Picc line in on Tuesday.
Procedure ok not as bad as the dentist having tooth out!
My arm a bit of a mess at moment as they had two attempts to get mine in! Very bruised.
My 2 little granddaughter’s 4 & 7 found it fascinating asking lots of questions.
Needed to explain why they now can’t jump up & down on nanny!
I’m not cold capping as I decided not for me. I watched the Amy Dowden documentary on BBCi player.
I’m sure you will be fine if you decided to give it a try, Im just not the right headspace right now for it with everything going on I’m overwhelmed with it all.
I know @pineapples123 is going to hopefully give it a try it so you can both share how it goes together.
I know I will be devastated when my hair start’s coming out, Ive prepared as much as I can for it. Picking my wig up next week.
What part of the country are you from.? I’m just outside Birmingham.

Morning @debly123
You will soon find your way round it.
I’m still learning to navigate. Lol
If you put an @ in it will bring all the user name’s up in thread so you can tag as many of us or just different parts of conversation.
That’s what I’ve done so far presumably it works
What part of the country are you in?
If you read the posts we already put on, there’s not many as yet as we’ve only been sharing a week. You will pick up information & tip’s we already put on.

Morning @pineapples123
Yes, still feeling fine this morning thanks
No big side effects as yet.
My arm is the worst. Very bruised from that first attempt getting Picc line in.
I’m going to get the dressing changed Monday morning, I’m not leaving it until next session.

I will try my best, I am in Leeds, I have my second EC tomorrow at 10.00 then MRI on 4th Feb to see if it’s shrinking. I am still processing it all, xx
@debly123
Hope tomorrow goes well.
hope your scan shows improvement

Only me in the middle of the country so far! X
Glad no serious side effects yet wba. How have you been dkc66 on EC. I’m starting on EC.
So wondering how you are fairing on it. So neither of you have to inject yourself to increase white blood cells? I’ve read about that.
Thinking of you both as I count down to 6 th feb
Xxx .
Ive got 3 x EC then 3 x docitaxel and Ive been told I will have to inject myself in the stomach with something for bone marrow, i think its bone marrow anyway! Btw I live in Horsham, West Sussex. I had the test that shows your chances of it recurring, mine was high, so consultant also said ill be on tamoxifin for 7 to 10 years. I guess life will never be the same again, but touch wood will appreciate it so much more.
Hi dkc66.
I had the test too to see if chemo would be worth having. The onco type dx. You only get that if your breast cancer is oestrogen positive. Mine was but only moderately. Mine came back 40. Which I’d high so chemo will really lower risk of recurrence.
Did you have immediate reconstruction with your mastectomy
Xx
Hi debly123 . Hope all goes well tomorrow for your second EC. How have you been since your first one? Is it every 2 or 3 weeks? Also are you using cold cap?
Xx
Hi wba
Just checking in to see how you are doing. Just realised you have a photo on. Nice to put a face to an email. I’m not sure how to do that. I’m not great with technology.
Xx
Hello @pineapples123
Still doing ok, keep thinking something going to kick in at some point.
I had to look for a bit to find out how to put profile picture on.
You click on the 3 red lines side of your profile letter
My posts
Expand
Click on the wheel next to the right of envelope sign
Scroll down you will see your profile
Then upload a picture.
I’m
Not brilliant at these things either, but got there lol
Trying to work out now how to share a link.
I had my Picc cover arrive, & it’s really nice. Black with hearts on
really helps, stops me catching it on clothes. Given me a bit relief tonight. I got it off Amazon but
card says on Etsy as well ClaresSewCrafty.co.uk
Had to
Measure my arm.
Going to get another one x
Starting chemo Wednesday. Pic line on Tuesday but am going to try to persuade them I won’t need one as my veins are good. Had my hair cut short today as I have ( after a lot of overthinking) decided not to cold cap. I caught myself in the mirror and thought Who the heck is that? as I look so different . It has also made it real - so far it’s been like the phony war - as I expect it’s the same for you … waiting , test, meetings, more waiting. All over Christmas too, so , in a strange kind of way it’s time to bring out the big guns and get it sorted. Huge hugs xxx
I live in Horsham too! Are you at Worthing? I think my regime going to be the same as you. I start Wednesday ,
Hi there, I haven’t gone for the cold cap and was loosing my hair last week so decided to go for the shave, it felt like I was in control more. Not been too bad with side effects up to now so fingers crossed for my second.
