Hi all, just want to put it out there, and I’ve just said this to someone on here, that this site and all of us on it have got me through some rotten days. I’m a week past chemo no and radio starts next Tuesday for a week, so it’s not really done done, but please know you are all amazing, and when these bloody side effects bugger off I will be smiling and so grateful to have shared with you all in this train ride no one wanted to be on!
@sarahcatlover so sorry to hear of your troubles and sad for your relationship
. Sometimes fate just has to take its course. I hope your SEs improve soon. I agree with @barley1 it’s never really over, but getting to the end of chemo is a big achievement. I feel almost normal since mine has ended (though I still take a dip every 3 weeks with my herceptin injection and I’ve still got to make a decision about the pesky hormone blocker
). But losing those worst SEs makes a huge difference, and you’re nearly there ![]()
Hear hear @barley1
. Even though I’ve not been as bad as many on here it’s still been a source of support and info and on the worst days pure distraction! There’s always someone worse off than you in some way or other which is weirdly comforting at times. You’re all troopers and we will all get through this and come out the other side ![]()
Sorry the EC has horrible side effects for you. I also had the dizziness with all 4 of mine and the oncologist insisted that it wasn’t a side effect of EC but because of the anti sickness tablets - but it lifted about 2 weeks after my last one.
So tomorrow is my final chemo.
Those who have read my posts know how much I have struggled threw this. Im a little worried about ending up in hospital again
and feeling so ill but it will be for the last time so im hoping mentally that will help me.
I have my Radiation CT planning appointment Monday so desperate not to miss that.
I think most people on here now habe either finished or coming to the end.
I hope we all keep posting as I find your words of support comforting when those around dont understand xx
Good luck tomorrow @sammy75 , you’ll feel a lightening of your load when that last one is done, especially as you’ve struggled more than many. Try to find a bit of celebration if you can ![]()
Thank you so much @sam1204
Mixed emotions hoping mentally its going to help. Just hope I can stay out of hospital with a high temp again.
Think making it to the appointment next week will
give me a boost.
Just know its going to be really hard for a few weeks again. But for the last time ![]()
Nurse specialist has prescribed mouthwash. I’ve just had it and managed to eat a bit as it slightly numbed the pain. Hooray!
Well I’ve had the dizziness when I wasn’t taking anti sickness meds! So glad it lifted two weeks later.
How long of a break between chemo and radiation are you guys having? I can’t seem to get a clear answer from my BCN other than I’ll have a planning session and that the planning takes a week.
@demimiray I started radiotherapy 3 weeks after my final chemo - I was told that that was the soonest the hospital like to start it afterwards. My planning session was the week before it began
x
My chemo finished on 6 May and first chemo is 2 June - so 4 weeks. They originally had it planned for 28 May but I asked to push back a few days as we have a weekend away with a hot tub planned and dont want to not be able to use the hot tub! Had my planning session the day before I finished chemo
I have my planning session 5 days after chemo. Ive also been told 3 to 4 weeks before I can start radiation. Provisional start date 22nd June for 3 weeks. But date can change depending on planning but been told it wont change by much x
Thanks guys
That’s what I’m hoping, I have some friends in the area 15th - 25th and my chemo finishes on the 2nd, so I’m hoping to not be doing daily radiotherapy at that point! Would be nice for my schedule to not be completely dictated by cancer for once.
So today was my final chemo. I cant put into words how emotional I am right now.
Thank you all for your support. Recovery time now ![]()

Huge congratulations, what a milestone to achieve @sammy75
I just got bk from my radiotherapy appointment and they were very accommodating of any pre existing plans etc. I’ll be having 5 week break between end chemo & radiotherapy due to plans I have end June. I will be having 15 rounds of radiotherapy.
That’s good! I know that I can ask and express opinions and preferences in this process but I default to being quite passive and agreeable
It does sound like I might be okay timing wise though.
I just signed up for the Younger Adults BCN event in Manchester! It’s only two weeks away, wasn’t sure when the next one would be so thought why not ![]()
@sammy75 huge congrats, you did it! ![]()

I’ve heard really good things about the BCN events, I’m sure you’ll get a lot out of it.
