Im 2 weeks post radiotherapy now and have my kidney op in 2 weeks  currently a month into Letrizole and about to have my 3rd Zoladex injection next week. Plan is to start Ribociclib and some infusions for my bones (cant remember what its called, something acid!) Once im recovered from the kidney op.

Please feel free to reach out if anyone is on a similar path (minus the kidney cancer!) And has anything they want to ask, much love to you all :heart::heart:

Morning! I’m off to the oncologist today which I think is about medications - will be going on to letrozole and Abemaciclib and zoladex I think. Bit worried about side effects as I havent found chemo that bad but warned my boyfriend the mood swings will be continuing!

I start radio on 2 June for 15 sessions - how were you feeling during/after yours?

@ariella how are you finding the letrozole? I’ve got to decide in a months time whether to take it or not. I’m very concerned about side effects and impact on other organs/health. It only gives me an extra 3% on my predict score and that of course doesn’t take into account my very active lifestyle and other factors particular to me as it feels like a one size fits all.

Hi @rubytuesday personally my only side effect from the Letrizole is a really ouchy wrist at night and in the morning, I find if ive exercised its not as sore and it eases off pretty quickly, dont think i really get anything after the Zoladex, radiotherapy ive felt sunburny and a bit stiff, ive contacted the nhs physio to hopefully get that sorted

Just this painful wrist @sam1204 it could ease off, who knows.

Im giving it all a go but if it starts affecting every day life then i’ll make some changes, but id say so far so good on the Letrizole and Zoladex

Morning - anyone else found birthdays super emotional? Every card I opened made me cry - luckily the 12 yo is still in bed so I can have a good cry on the sofa before I have to face the day. Trying to be positive but Facebook reminding me of previous birthdays isn’t helping either.

emotional support dog is in no way supportive, first sign of tears and she’s out the door

Just been given the go ahead for my final chemo on Wednesday. I am so emotional. Happy as was so worried it wouldnt go ahead after hospital stay. Scared because I know Im going to be poorly again (but for the last time) and hoping I avoid a hospital stay this time.

I then have my CT planning scan 5 days later.

This rollercoaster is so hard.

From a tired and emotional Samantha

You’ve done phenomenally well to make it through given all the setbacks you’ve had. I know it’s gonna be rubbish doing one more, but then you’re done x

I have two Paclitaxel left now, just two weeks! I have been craving a G&T hard today, I think it’s the weather and the feeling like I can get back to ‘normal’ now. But I’m gonna hold off.

I am actually stressing a little that my ovaries have switched themselves back on. No hard evidence like menstruation, but I have slept much better the last few days - even given the heat! My ‘warm moments’ have seemed less. I have noticed a bit of discharge coming back too. I know it’s probably nothing to worry about in actuality, but I have become fixated on the hormonal side of things now I’m almost through chemo.

It’s nothing that can’t wait, I am hoping to hear from my BCN on Tuesday anyway about when I will see my consultant.

I also have radiation next, not sure how long of a break I get. Will probably keep posting updates here though since there’s no monthly radiotherapy threads. Then yeah, not sure what exactly the hormone plan is as I need to discuss AI’s vs Tamoxifen, but I will also get Abemaciclib.

Have an alcohol free G & T if you don’t want an alcoholic one. We had a lovely pub lunch in the beer garden yday & I indulged in an AF G & T , it was lush :two_hearts:.

Hope everyone is doing OK in this heat. Home straight for so many of us now.

I’ve been so ill after my EC a week ago. So glad I only had to have one. The nausea, weakness, spinning head (low red bloods I guess) where I can’t sit or stand!

Yesterday I actually got to my beach hut and had a lovely day. But then today couldn’t get up this morning because of the spinning head! Also a new awful side effect- loads of ulcers in my mouth and on my tongue so it’s really hard to eat. Also swollen gums. I’m using mouthwash and bongela but now it even hurts to drink or speak! Anyone else had this?

Also my 7month relationship ended on Friday! He ended it, but I knew it wasn’t working but thought maybe it was because of all the chemo etc. But I now realise we’re just too different and anyway he’d stopped loving me. It’s hard to cope with alongside feeling so ill though. I’m lucky to have some wonderful supportive friends.

So good to hear a lot of us nearing the end of chemo. My surgery is scheduled for July 7th.

Sorry to hear your having a rough time of it at the minute, sending you lots of love.

My mouth was OK on EC but when I moved on to Docetaxel it was awful! The only I can describe what I had was rubbing cotton wool and sandpaper together in my mouth, it was grim. Even protein shakes were painful the only thing I found tolerable was yoghurt!

They prescribed me gelclair which I used 3 times a day which coats your mouth to protect it, salt rinses after eating and that green mouth wash morning and night! Lifesaver!!
