February 2026 chemo starters

I finished radiotherapy yesterday! And just feel a bit meh. Went for a meal last night in pub garden which was lovely, and trying to relax in the shade today but just feeling a bit lost. And much more anxious than I have been the whole time through the treatment.

Hi ladies I haven’t posted for a while, but wanted to share that I’ve finished my final 7th chemo session last week (feel like I’m the last one ). I’m still suffering from the side effects and cannot wait to start feeling normal again. This group has been great for my mindset and wellbeing and thank you all for keeping it going

Sharing a picture of the amazing NHS staff that have looked after me during my journey.

It’s not the end as I still have to undergo surgery the end of July and then Radiotherapy but I feel the worst part might be over :crossed_fingers:

Congratulations @rubytuesday , however weird it feels it’s a great milestone to reach. Hope you can have a bit a celebration and that the anxiety subsides quickly . I think finishing each phase does feel strange, on the one hand it’s great as it’s over, but then you feel a bit alone….at least you’ve got us to keep you going

Congratulations @gheko , a fantastic milestone and you should feel really pleased. I don’t know as I’ve not had to have radiotherapy, but I’d certainly say in my experience that surgery was the easiest of everything I’ve had to go through. At least you have a break now and hopefully you’ll feel more normal soon :crossed_fingers:. In the meantime have a little celebration :tada:

Thank you @sam1204 I’m certainly looking forward to a break and a proper drink to celebrate, 5 months of no alcohol - I’m actually a bit scared to start :joy:

I’ve had lots of anxiety and panic attacks last two weeks. I finished chemo 5 weeks ago and have surgery in 10 days time. I think sometimes our bodies keep going through one part of treatment. Then suddenly can’t take anymore? I’ve also had my relationship end and a friend’s son die in an accident.

I hope your anxiety eases soon. Xx

I feel for you @sarahcatlover but look back at what you have achieved so far. I’m feeling good about my surgery but as the days draw closer that might change. Let’s stay positive and hope they get those clear margins  Take care x

Hi lovely ladie, its good to see everyone is getting through their individual journeys. I had my lumpectomy and sentinel node removal on Thursday, feeling a bit sore, but starting to feel so much better with no chemo since 22 May. Crossing fingers for pathology results in 3 wks. My hair is still taking a long time to grow back so praying it will. I have religiously been using the rosemary hair tonic, but just feel my head resembles an emu with wispy bits here and there:rofl:. Take care everyone and enjoy the rest of the weekend:smiling_face_with_three_hearts::smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I’m with you guys on the spike in anxiety. I’ve been on Tamoxifen a week, might be related - but I’ve cried and panicked more this week than the last few months combined it feels like. Definitely is something about being off chemo that seems to be distressing

My hair is growing back in a Friar Tuck pattern, top is staying bald with a strip around the back :joy:

Thank you. I think my surgery feels big because it’s single mastectomy, lymph node removal and skin graft from my thighs to cover the breast area.

Isn’t it strange a few of us have anxiety/ panic when off chemo? I think it’s built up and affected our systems. Definitely affected mine with the ME.

My last chemo was 18th May and no hair growing back yet. My taste is almost all back though which is great! The neuropathy in feet is improving a bit but ankles and feet are very swollen now.

Good luck everyone ! Xx

That’s quite a big surgery @sarahcatlover so not really surprising you’re anxious. But nevertheless if you’ve got through chemo I think you’ll not find the surgery recovery as hard. Hopefully :crossed_fingers:! Great that your neuropathy is improving. I’m 3 weeks ahead of you and mine is barely noticeable now. Your hair will reappear!

Keep an eye on that ankle swelling as it could be a sign of something else….whenever I went for chemo and continuing now when I go for herceptin (happens to be today) they always ask me about swollen ankles. Might be worth getting it checked out.

AIs are definitely associated with ā€œdepressionā€ @demimiray so could well be to do with the tamoxifen.

I too have what my partner calls a ā€œtonsureā€ - plenty of hair at the back and sides but not a lot on the top. I seem to have a bit of a widow’s peak! I’m frantically rubbing rosemary oil into the still bald areas….:crossed_fingers::crossed_fingers:

Good luck with surgery recovery @moonandstars1 . Your emu reference really made me laugh! Thank you

Thanks. I think it may be a side effect from the beta blockers Propranolol I’ve just been put on. I’ve phoned doc for an appointment.

Gosh it’s been ages again since I’ve been on this thread, so pleased for everyone that’s finished the chemo :raising_hands:t2:

Think I’m one of the last finishers (multiple delays in treatment) and have my last Docetaxel today :two_hearts:

I’m very ready to be done with this stage but nervous about longer term recovery and the endocrine treatment

They’ve recommended 12 months of Tamoxifen based on pre treatment estrogen levels and then move to an AI - this should also help bones (Dexa scan pre treatment was showing osteopenia) and also time to identify if I need ovary suppression. I’m 54 so has assumed straight to an AI but in some ways this seems sensible - interested if anyone else has had similar discussions?
