ā€œBog Brush" My hair is coming out in massive clumps now. I’m braving the shave tomorrow, I can’t deal with the amount it’s shedding and it’s gone all wiry. Dreading this part but needs must & I have a lovely customised wig at the ready.

So guys just had my pre assessment ahead of tomorrow.

Shocked Im not having steriods tonight but for 3 days after. Also @trixie17 im not being given injections they said they have to see how the 1st cycle goes (bit like you) I have asked for them, she called my oncologist and he said no!!!

Gave me a leaflet to get £50 nail polish (i cant afford that)

What is everyone else using on their nails!!.

So im gonna have a bit of a walk and then chill watching netflex.

How is everyone today

Hi @sammy75 . I wouldn’t worry about the steroids. They gave me a completely sleepless night after I had one lot so if you put them off, I would! I can’t comment on the injections as I’m not on them (different regime I think). My nails are fine so far so not doing anything - appreciate that may change!

Try to switch off for the rest of the day and don’t worry about tomorrow. The day before you start is the worst as you don’t know what to expect. Once you get going I think you’ll be fine :crossed_fingers::heart:.

I’m feeling good today. Slept for 10 hours and got good energy. Noticed some blood when I blew my nose earlier so will keep an eye on that.

I’ve decided, especially after seeing another post on here about it, not to have a PICC line for now. When I had surgery last November I had terrible blistering and itching in reaction to the dressing, and it was only on for 3 weeks. The PICC will be there for months. I’ve conferred with my BCNs and they’re fine with it. As cannulation went well for me on my first round I’m going to stick with that and see how I go. I just don’t want to risk the skin reaction again - frankly it was worse than the wound itself!

So that’s my day so far

I’ve been for my consent meeting today & they’ve said steroids & anti sickness for 3 days after - all tablets -nothing else beforehand.

guess things could be adapted as we go

Trying to just have a low key day today.

They spoke alot about infection.

Currently have my kids preparing for their driving test. My son tomorrow (chemo day:see_no_evil_monkey:) and my daughter Wednesday. She is getting herself worked up as her boyfriend passed today.

I only had steroids for 1 day post chemo day. Very strange how it differs so much between us all.

I had to go bk to hospital yday & today for bloods and I chatted to the doctor and she advised the same, with 3 weekly cycles they like to see how you respond in ref to the injections. She also said the evidence that they boost your white blood cells count is conflicted.

I’m using polybalm on my nails as recommended by others who have already been through chemo. That and keeping my nails short and painted black. It’s worth the investment to protect your nails.

My neutrophils are continuing to rise thanks to the antibiotics, so we’ll see what the oncologist says tomorrow.

@trixie17 I have just ordered this as I just cant afford £50 for nail polish. See how I go with that.

Hope your feeling much better x

They said I gave steriods for 3 days starting tomorrow.

I’m feeling better thank you, energy levels are up. Rested all weekend, had a lovely walk today.

Polybalm is a balm that you rub into your cuticles , it does last a long time but yes appreciate that it is very expensive. Use dark nail polish & cuticle oil and hopefully that will help. Xx
