But more Importantly…..Happy Birthday

Wow yes @sarahcatlover that’s a rollercoaster. Glad you’re ok though. A&E to be avoided if at all possible as you say. But sometimes you have no choice. I do think it’s often a small glimpse of hell on earth ![]()
It’s for neutrophils. I had to delay a treatment as my neutrophils went below 1, so I researched what to eat/do to boost them. I have a heaped spoonful of 100% cocoa every day in a smoothie or yoghurt and I also eat 2 squares of 90% chocolate a day. Seems to be doing the trick!
@sarahcatlover so sorry to hear of your hospital visit, it’s just not what you need on top of everything else, but glad it wasn’t anything serious. Happy belated birthday ![]()
@sam1204 so good to hear, shame about this rash though! Hopefully the antihistamine helps. I’m also half way through, finished with EC for good and 4 paclitaxel to go! Felt a bit more fatigue and more emotional this cycle, and feeling apprehensive about the side effects on paclitaxel, just being back at not knowing how it’s going to affect me…and if the rest of my hair is going to fall out
But clinging onto the fact 50% done and the sunshine has been uplifting so lots of walks. Good luck to everyone with their next treatment xx
That’s really interesting about the skin recommendations! I’m literally so confused what to throw at it this time!
It’s so bizarre as I get the steroid face flush for a few days around chemo then it goes away and right on time it’s started again tonight on day 10! I look like a spotty bald tomato again! x
Thank you. I eat two squares of 70% chocolate every night, but I presume I need a higher content?
I’d say yes if you’re trying to avoid neutropenia. Any brand of cocoa does - don’t have to buy anything expensive as long as it’s 100% cocoa. Hot chocolate and smoothies are easy ways to take it.
Oh dear @anncuk ! At least you know it’s the last time. I’ve got the red cheeks today which like you passes but hoping the rash does too. I’ll let you know if the antihistamine works ![]()
@herts82 I’ve just posted on the March thread my experience of paclitaxel so far, if you have a chance to read it it might help alleviate some of your worries. My hair is still coming out but it’s definitely slowed down.
.
So, I resisted the urge to phone the helpline last night. Felt like I was having weird heart palpitations, fluttering. Thought it was my imagination so waited but it was just getting worse.
However, no other side effects and no raised temp. I knew if I phoned the helpline I’d be spending Friday night in A&E!
Anyway, I eventually got to sleep and it seems Ok This morning.
Not sure if it’s a chemo thing or a PICC thing. Anyone else had anything similar?
Hi @vizsla_mum I regularly have an elevated heart rate at nighttime, normally when I wake up around 2/3/4am and am trying to get back to sleep will notice my heart is hammering away faster than normal. It’s not every night, around 2/3 nights out of my 2 weeks cycle. Is it better this morning?
Yeah. Better this morning. I had the odd period of it feeling ‘different’. But last night felt like it was doing somersaults
.
Had it been a weekday morning I may have phoned the helpline I. But I’m glad I didn’t last night.
Were you on steroid Dexamethasone as I get that when on steroids?
Last night I felt the hot/ cold clammy symptoms and fatigue and weakness. Sort of shivery inside. I’d had loose stools but not diarrhoea. I really didn’t want to end up back in A and E!! I couldn’t take my temp as I’d had paracetamol. I drank loads and loads of- peppermint tea, water, cordial. The symptoms subsided enough to sleep. I’ve only just woken up. My temp is only 35.5 but once I move around it’s 36. I still feel unwell. I hope I can stay out of hospital!!
@vizsla_mum I had this after my third cycle, it absolutely freaked me out! Nothing after the fourth one though…
I am due my fourth next Friday.
It’s weird how symptoms come and go!
Fun fact…….lost all the leg hair from my left leg but not my right ![]()
I haven’t been shaving out of morbid curiosity about hair loss ![]()
@sarahcatlover I hope you feel better and your temperature stabilises, definitely keep an eye on it. I ended up going to A&E after my first cycle because of my temperature but they couldn’t find any problems and it was just a reaction to the steroids, chemo and pegfilgrastim. Like a hurricane going through the body which repeated each cycle too (I ignored it when it happened each time after that, no more A&E!) x
Yea i got that when i had my picc and it happens on and off for some nights since too x
Yay to being halfway through & good news on the neutrophils.
How bizarre ref the Nurse not being keen on Moogoo, they’re great products in my view. I use Aveeno too.
