Oh gosh, that sounds horrendous for you. I can’t believe you were told to phone 111 and not go into hospital. I’m so thankful the hospital I’m under has its own rapid response triage unit, I had to go in on a weekend and it was fine.
Day 10 of EC cycle 3 and this is usually the start of feeling “normal” (aside from fatigue) for a week and a half. I’m keen on pushing to go for 6 cycles rather than 8 which will mean this is my last EC cycle!
Also got my appointment through to see the radiotherapy oncologist in June.
Yes I was in A and E with these symptoms last weekend!! I don’t want to go back! I want to take paracetamol to help with symptoms but then of course I can’t keep checking temp. Did you v take paracetamol?
@sarahcatlover Oh gosh yes you don’t want to go back! So before chemo I would barely take meds as I hated them for anything so other than the meds the hospital have forced on me I haven’t taken anything else, no, even though at times I probably should have to help me! x
@trixie17 Day 11 here and the turning point is definitely around now isn’t it! That’s good about radiotherapy! I’ve got my planning session on Monday and a tentative start date of 2nd April as they said they like to leave 3 weeks after last chemo before starting, not sure if it’s the same at each hospital though x
Very soon for you then ref radiotherapy. You can let us know how it goes ![]()
I’m glad to hear there’s a gap in between, we need recovery time and breathing space.
Oh yes, day 10/11 has consistently been the turning point for me. It’s what keeps me going through EC cycles. I’ll be moving onto weekly Paclitaxel after this for 9 weeks. I just want this chemo phase over with, even though so far I’m coping well & still working etc. It’s still horrible.
Days ten/ eleven every cycle I am sneezing and my nose runs all day. Nurse said nose lining gets more sensitive. Weird!
Yes @awr i sneeze and have a runny nose, also quite a lot of blood when I blow but not actually nose bleeds. The constant running of the nose is also associated with loss of nasal hair! Nothing to contain it!
My best guess @sarahcatlover is like others have said it’s a reaction to the drugs not an infection and it will pass. Steroids definitely make your heart race. I’d just monitor it today and see if itall subsides ![]()

@awr I had a call with my oncologist yesterday and asked her about it. It’s either hayfever or some kind of allergy, as you say out nose linings become more sensitive. She suggested antihistamines and just said to keep an eye on my temperature. She didn’t seem too worried about it being 37.4 but if it went over 37.5 I should call Accute Oncology just in case. Today and yesterday my temp’s been fine so I’m not worrying about it too much.
@sam1204 it was more the rise in temperature that was bothering me, although constantly streaming eyes and a runny nose is a pain
The gift of chemo is never ending, isn’t it?
